Someone will do anything to get federal judge Sidney Logan to throw a trial—even target her six-month-old foster daughter. And it’s up to US Deputy Marshal Tanner Wilcox to keep Sidney and little Lilly safe in the Colorado Rockies. But with danger finding them at every turn, there might be a mole in the courthouse…and trusting anyone could prove lethal.
This is a Romantic Suspense, and this is the 5th book in the Justice Seekers series. The beginning of this book did not pull me into this story, and It took me a while to get into this story. I loved parts of this book so much, but on the other hand there was parts of this book I really did not enjoyed. I felt it took me a long time to really care about the characters in this book. I love having a judge as the main characters because we did not get a Judge as the main characters a lot. I love seeing the story from a Judge's point of view. The suspense/mystery was slow to get me into it, but the twists and turns in the mystery was so good. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Love Inspired Suspense) or author (Laura Scott) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

When a federal judge is targeted, US Marshals are called in to protect her and find out who is trying to kill her. Here is some good inspirational suspense. Laura Scott adds a good one to her series.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher via Net Galley. The opinion here is my own.
Federal Judge Sidney Logan finds herself on the run with her foster daughter, under the protection of Deputy Marshall Tanner Wilcox, to escape someone who wants to intimidate her ruling on an upcoming trial.
A fast paced read that gripped me from the beginning. I loved the Wyoming setting, as well as the relationship building between the main characters. I so happy to recognize Tanner and Colt from a previous book, though you can definitely read this one as a stand alone. Tanner is is a good man, with strong convictions who lives his faith. I liked how he is open about his beliefs with Sidney, and puts her doubts to rest.
Overall a fantastic read, engaging and tension filled from the start with likable characters. I loved how great Tanner was with Lilly, and his friendship with Colt. Definitely will keep reading this amazing series, can't wait to read Colt's story!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
My first Laura Scott read and I enjoyed this book! I only remember reading a main character as a judge in a Desire novel, but this of course was very different.
Without giving too much away, we have a bad man who wants Sidney to make sure his trial turns out with him being found not guilty. Of course, threatening and coercing a federal judge is not the way to get that. Enter US Marshall who is a man of faith and determined to get the judge and her foster daughter Lilly to safety. There were definitely some slow moments, but I was impressed by how much research I'm sure the author put into this novel. A lot of interworkings of the courts. Also, some funny dialogue with the hero and fellow Marshalls that I really enjoyed as well.
The ending was very romantic and definitely put a smile on my face.
Laura's stories are pretty much always enjoyable reads for me. This was another one of those. Likable characters and lots of exciting moments made this a quick and fun read. Looking forward to Colt's story next!
My review today is on the Love Inspired Suspense, Rocky Mountain Standoff. This is book five in the series Justice Seekers. I really enjoy Laura's books but this one was kind of special because My son is a deputy in charge of the other deputies in the courthouse in Cheyenne so it brings it close to home. This story is well-written, action-packed, and full of suspense. I know you are going to love it.
Cheyenne Federal Criminal Court Judge Sidney Logan took her soon-to-be six-month-old daughter to the nanny but found her dead. A voice in her head tells her to run and she does. She calls 911 and then calls the USMarshal who was once assigned to protect her. The Santiiago trial was coming up in a few days and she had received a threatening letter. He is the only man she can trust.
US Deputy Marshall Tanner Wilcox told her to meet him in five minutes. He then takes charge. He is drawn to the beautiful judge and her precious daughter but refused to act on it, Can he keep them safe when a group of killers is after them?
A terrifying journey to stay ahead of a ruthless gang of killers. God has a plan for these two broken souls. A good plan for hope and a future. God has a plan for you too even in this time of chaos. A good plan for peace and not for destruction. Give Him your heart and watch Him work in your lif
Sidney is a judge in the process of adopting her 6 month foster child, but someone is trying to get her to stop a trial or else. Its the or else bit that's causing a commotion because now she and the baby's lives are in danger but hopefully US Deputy Marshal Tanner can keep them safe.
This book was a trip and a half from the beginning. It was hard to to know who can Sidney trust because clearly there is someone out to get her and with a possible mole theres that question if they are really safe with those who are supposed to keep them safe. Thankfully she can trust Tanner and hope he can keep her safe before everything gets worse. I loved that there was so much going on with this book I just couldn't put it down. If you like a fast paced book that'll keep you on your toes then check this book out.
Sydney, a judge, & her six-month soon-to-be adopted daughter, Lily, are in danger from someone who wants to throw a case and she is caught in the crossfire. US Deputy Marshal Tanner comes to the rescue. They both carry a lot of guilt from the past ex’s and while this was a slow start, I didn’t unfortunately feel the chemistry with these two. The fact that heroine is older than the Hero was another con, but that is just my personal tastes so don’t let it dissuade you from reading!
I was kindly provided an advance copy by NetGalley, Publisher or Author for an honest review and I want to thank them for it.
ROCKY MOUNTAIN STANDOFF by Laura Scott is the fifth book in the Justice Seekers series. It is the fabulous, edge of your seat inspirational story of Cheyenne Federal Criminal Court Judge Sidney Logan and US Deputy Marshall Tanner Wilcox. One is to preside over an upcoming case and the others job is to protect and to keep her alive to do so.
Sidney has been dreading the court cast against Manuel Santiago even before the threats started. She had no doubts that she could preside over the case impartially even though she knew this hardened criminal needed to be put away for a very long time. When Camella, her personal nanny, is found murdered as a warning of what would happen if she didn’t throw out the case, the threats were becoming too personal to ignore. During a temporary break in the case, she hadn’t felt the need for the body guard assigned to her. However, with the life of Lily, foster daughter who she’s cared for the last 6 months and in the process of adopting is threatened, she agrees to go into the citizen protection services for the duration of the pre-trial and the trial itself. Although she found Tanner attractive enough, after the fiasco of her ex cheating on her and having a baby with his mistress, she is no way looking for a relationship. Her life will revolve around Lily – period.
Tanner Wilcox, US Marshall, had been assigned to Judge Logan, but at her insistence he had left during a down period in the case. Once it was evident that both Sidney and Lily were in danger, he was ready, willing and able to take over his duties willing to lay down his life for his charges. What he hadn’t counted on was developing feelings for them both. Definitely not in the job description and he has to stay objective in order to do his job correctly.
When the job of keeping Sidney and Lily safe becomes even more dangerous with more threats and more private individuals paying the price, fellow marshals Colt Nelson and Slade Brooks are called into the case. It may very well take them all to keep everyone alive and able to carry out their duties both in and out of the courtroom.
Can Sidney stay objective in the case even when her daughter’s life is threatened? Will seeing Tanner interact with her daughter only pull her towards him all the more? Can Tanner keep his head in the game and put his personal feelings aside for their sake? He knew he would take a bullet for them, but does a bullet almost take him out of the game? At the end of the case, will they each being going their separate ways?
ROCKY MOUNTAIN STANDOFF will keep your interest running high throughout the whole book as the excitement starts from page one and lasts until the ever end. You will be trying to figure out who is after them, when and where the next attack or threat will occur and why target this judge because the case will be heard by a judge sooner or later. All the while you will be pulling for a real romance to develop between Sidney and Tanner so they can both become parents to that adorable little girl. Laura Scott weaves a threat of faith through it all that just has to make you smile. Although part of a series. ROCKY MOUNTAIN STANDOFF can most definitely be read as a standalone book. It certainly deserves and gets my FIVE STARS!
Rocky Mountain Standoff is a Love Inspired Suspense by Laura Scott. Sidney, a judge, is presiding over a high-profile case, if she and her daughter can stay alive along enough for her to do so. That’s where the marshals, particularly Tanner Wilcox, come in.
Shoot-outs, chases, and bombs, this story has all the exciting parts of suspense. I was expecting more from a mystery stand point and the marshals sometimes lacked that marshal feel at times, so it was difficult for this story to hold my attention. But it’s has a sweet romance. Tanner has a strong kindness streak that I loved seeing. If you enjoy LIS stories, then give this one a read.

Oh Laura Scott, how I love your books! “Rocky Mountain Standoff,” is Book 5 in her Justice Seekers Romance series. This book is well written and has good characters. This page turner is fast paced and full of action and suspense!
Federal Judge, Sidney Logan, is being threatened by drug cartel leader, Santiago, to receive a lighter sentence than he deserves at his upcoming trial. The threats to the judge and her infant daughter has US Deputy Marshal Tanner Wilcox and his fellow Marshal, Colt Nelson, busy trying to stay a step or two ahead of the threats. Santiago and his henchmen mean business and keep the story full of action! Of course a little romance develops along the way. Next up will be Colt’s story. I can’t wait!
Laura Scott is another new to me author and I have to say her story did not disappoint. I enjoyed learning a little about the U.S. Marshalls and how they work. The drama was good and the relationship development between Tanner and Sidney was sweet. Enjoyed seeing how Colt, Tanner and Slade has each other's backs as they worked to protect Sidney and her daughter. I'd like to read more about these courageous workers.
Federal judge Sydney Logan is determined to hold a trial for a drug dealer Manuel Santiago in spite of his efforts to scare her. First she is warned then her babysitter is killed. US Deputy Marshal Tanner Wilcox is equally determined to keep Sydney and her adopted baby safe. After several life-threatening events, Sydney finds she is falling in love with Tanner but has her reasons for avoiding him. Overall this is a good suspense and romance story.
I loved both the action and the protection by the Marshall's, Tanner, Slade and especially Colt. Even though Tanner and Sidney were the most part of the storyline. I enjoyed the trauma between them. So much happening all at once it kept me guessing on the outcome. I especially liked about Colt always being always hungry. That kept the lightness in a very stressful situation. It is must read.
I appreciated the different characters acting appropriately. Sometimes the protagonist just does stupid things in the name of being tough or independent. It was a predictable love story but not predictable in the events that took place. The writing was fine but not particularly memorable. It was worth reading. Enjoy it.
A female federal judge (yay) and a federal marshall. There is lots of action and a fair amount of humor. Themes of brother like relationships between the marshalls. If you have read the rest of the series, this is as well done. If you haven't read the rest of the series, I think this could be read as a standalone.
I really enjoyed this romantic Suspense. I bought this at a local Goodwill store and I've given it a 5* rating. This got me at the beginning, a hold yourself to the seat kind of read. The action kept coming with an baby added to protect too. Lots of bad guys to watch out for and all wrapped up for at the ending. I really enjoy this author's work.
I loved ❤ this book's storyline. I loved the action in this story. I loved ❤ the Christian theme in this story. I loved ❤ Tanner's character. I loved ❤ Sidney's character. I loved ❤ Lilly. I loved ❤ the ending. Awesome job Ms. Scott.
Another wonderful story from Laura Scott. It had just the right amount of suspense and action to keep you from putting it down. Always grateful for Gods love and protection being strong in her stories.
I recommend this book and story. You must read it. If you like mystery then you will enjoy this author's stories. A judge's life has been threatening. Will the bad follow through. Read n find out.
As with all of these love inspired Suspense paperbacks, it was something I could read in the car or in offices as I waited. The stories are usually pretty predictable but still enjoyable.
This was a great story! I really enjoyed it. It’s obviously part of a series with the secondary characters all having backstories but it wasn’t hard to follow. I recommend this one.
I absolutely love the characters. My favorite is the side character Colt but I do love the main characters, Tanner, Sidney and Lilly! I enjoy the connection between Tanner and Sidney. It was so good!
