USA Today best selling author Maureen Child is the author of more than ninety romance novels and novellas. Maureen is a five time nominee for the prestigious Rita award from Romance Writers of America. One of her novels, A Pocketful Of Paradise, was made into a CBS-TV movie called The Soul Collector, starring Melissa Gilbert, Bruce Greenwood and Ossie Davis. Over the years, she’s written under lots of different names and she prefers the term ‘pseudonym’ to ‘alias’. As Ann Carberry, she wrote western historical romances. As Kathleen Kane, she wrote not only Americana romances, but western paranormal romances as well. As Sarah Hart, she wrote one really spectacular western paranormal that is still one of her favorites. And once, Ann Carberry even wrote a Victorian historical which she absolutely loved doing.
Under her own name, Maureen writes short contemporary novels for Silhouette Desire—books she loves to write because of their fast pace and condensed story telling. Maureen is also writing funny, contemporary paranormal romances for NAL and darker paranormal stories for Silhouette Nocturne.
Maureen writes paranormal romance novels under the pesudonym of Regan Hastings
The Wrong Mr. Right is a funny, sizzling romance between two people who, on the surface, seem like too much the opposite to ever end up with a happy ending — but never give up on love, sometimes what’s on the surface is only hiding embers waiting to burst into flame. In the third title of the Dynasties: The Carey Center series we finally see straight-laced, uptight, lives by schedules and lists Bennett brought to his knees by a woman, a funny, stubborn, strong, sexy woman with just as much passion and commitment to her career as Bennett has to his. Worlds are about to collide with intriguing results.
Due to a fire at a landmark restaurant, Hannah is about to take on one of the biggest jobs of her career or of her family business as well. The huge paycheck and bonus will allow her to pay off an annoying debt, bring the business some much-needed relief, and show her crew just how much she values them and their work… just one wee drawback. She has to deal face-to-face with Bennett — and if you’ve followed this series you’ll understand just how much of a challenge that will turn out to be. I adored Hannah from the start, she’s strong, takes no crap from anyone but especially not from entitled, arrogant rich men. I enjoyed watching how she brought Bennett to his knees but also opened up herself to allow love to grow in a much-mistreated heart. They might be opposites in many ways, but they worked so well as a couple.
I loved watching Bennett fall. His confusion, the fighting attraction every step of the way. And the eventual dumb move that almost cost him everything. Bennett grew so much in The Wrong Mr. Right and I loved the man he’s become once letting life and love into his mindset.
The Retirement Wars are still ongoing, the wedding planning is getting sort of out of hand for two brides, and one precious little girl is about to get her backyard castle. I had a good time back in this world, and next, we’ll finally discover what one rebellious, bad-boy has been keeping under wraps from his family in One Little Secret.
Bennett, the eldest of Martin Carey’s sons and daughters and the new CEO of the family company, needs his restaurant, which was destroyed by fire, to be restored in four weeks. With an impossible deadline and the best contractors in the county with full schedules, he has to turn to a small company with the best references. This is how he meets Hannah Yates, the owner of Yates Construction, and his life is turned upside down.
From the first page, we see that Hannah and Bennett are like oil and water: they don’t mix. They both redefine the term ‘opposites’. LITERALLY. And while the “opposites attract” formula is widely used in romance books, it’s the reason this story works. After all, it’s not about reinventing the wheel, it’s about turning that wheel differently.
As in the previous books in this series, the Carey family has a relevant role in the plot, giving the spark a story with a too imposing hero needs. A hero who, although at first glance seems lacking in grace, is deeper than it seems. In addition, the author gives us several details of what will be the fourth and last book in the series. Likewise, I liked how detailed it has been about Hannah’s work, without being boring or tiring the reader. And how everything falls in its perfect place.
As always, Ms. Child brought a credible, well-written and exciting story. An author that rarely dissapoints. And waiting for the ending of this magnificent series 😊
I read this book for a class assignment, but I'm really glad this was the book I got to read. I'll admit that it was a little fast-paced, with the book ending after he proposes, but I really enjoyed it. This book is a quick read, and from the moment each character was introduced, I loved them. I loved that Bennet and Hannah had such a close circle of family and friends. I also loved that while their relationship was fast-paced, they fit so well together and balanced each other in most cases. I definitely will be looking into the other books in this series!
It’s been a while since I’ve read Maureen Child. She’s always been a favorite of mine. The heroine in the story makes this book for me. I like the fact that she stands up for herself and doesn’t let the hero get away with anything.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 Not my usual choice but this one definitely got me. There wasn’t all the glitz & glamour that’s usually highlighted in an I don’t belong in your world story & a more realistic approach to the issues that come with regular life regardless of your net worth. Love
Enjoyed reading about an uptight executive falling for a hard-working, blue-collared woman. Both needed to learn that communication is the key to life.
I am really enjoying this series.. this is the 3rd book and it's nice to get to know all of the characters in the Carey Family! I do reccomend. I will look for other books with Maureen Child as the Author as well!
