Finding the One . . .

Jorden Dawson needed a place to stay. When her real estate agent friend Angie found her a sublet, Jorden wasn’t happy. But on such short notice, she was lucky to have even that available. Just staying in a house with a stranger sort of freaked her out. But it has a separate entrance and she would have the entire upstairs, so it sounded workable. She and Colton Beringer had been together and he wiped out her bank account. But some people don’t learn the lesson and she took him back – and he emptied her account again! So now she’s 1,000 miles away from him, even though she doesn’t have the money to move even farther than that! When she finally arrives, the outside seems huge with a great view of the ocean. The man who answers the door is absolutely gorgeous. But he is definitely surprised. He was expecting a guy since the application read “Jorden Michael”. Angie must have done that on purpose… she knows her middle name is “Michele”.

Evan Walker introduced himself and said it was okay, just a surprise. Then a blonde woman drove up and he left with her, promising to get a key made for Jorden since he hadn’t expected her so soon. He kisses the blonde’s cheek and gets in the car – and Jorden actually feels a pang of jealousy! He and his Aunt Tammy head over to the lawyer’s office. He has some paperwork to sign. But the whole time, his thoughts were on Jorden. And when Aunt Tammy told the good-looking lawyer about the pretty girl waiting at home, he felt jealousy as the lawyer grinned and wiggled his eyebrows! This is so odd anyway since Evan is not ready for a relationship. Three years ago, his ex and ex-best friend cheated with each other, and he swore off dating.

But once back home, Evan goes inside and Jorden has her head stuck deep inside the refrigerator and doesn’t hear him. He speaks and scares her, and she confesses that her mom told her you tell about a man by what’s in his refrigerator… even his relationship status. He smiles at her attempt to get information about him. So he asks her to explain more or he won’t give her the key to her apartment. The smile she gives him, complete with dimples, lets him know he’s in deep trouble with this one! Both of them are goners! But what happens when Colton shows up?

This was a really cute story with two people who seem perfect for each other. I loved Aunt Tammy who tells it like it is and makes me laugh. But now they have Colton to deal with. Will Jorden once again give him a chance to mess with her life? Or is she ready to move on to a man who loves her and can make her happy?

Jorden is fleeing an abusive ex who won’t take no for an answer. When his stalker behavior escalates, she finally takes her friend up on her offer to settle in Fever Island. Subletting a room on beach front property sounds like the perfect getaway for the writer she is and Jorden goes all in.

She just didn’t count on her landlord being Evan. Eye candy of the best quality, he tempts her away from her goal to stay away from men and romance. He’s sweet, understanding and makes her heart flutter, something she honestly thought would never happen again.

Their world wind romance that feels right even if things happen a lot faster than either expected, is threatened when Jorden’s past finds her again.

This was a cute, fast paced insta-love novella. Both MCs were likable and sweet. I really liked Evan. He was adorable book boyfriend material. Not overly alpha or dominate, but comfortable and dependable. Jorden was a good heroine, she did blend into the background sometimes but she was quirky and strong. Her ex situation could have been handled better but it is what it is. Overall a good quick read.

This is a new author for me and one I am excited to add to my shelves. Her Protector is a well written story with the right amount of suspense and heat that it will keep you on the edge of your seat. Jordan has left Texas to get away from her ex and start new. Evan has inherited the beach house from his grandfather, and is renting out the top floor. With a win wine option, Jordan and Evan grow closer together, to bad her ex keeps getting in the way.

This is a great quick read that you will fall in love with the characters.

This was a really good short read. Both Jorden and Evan were engaging, their chemistry was good, the steam level was off the charts and the story between them, while simple, was still entertaining.

I think this is Cox's first published book and it was well written and well edited so I look forward to see what she does next. First book in a promising new series, I would read more by the author. Available on Kindle Unlimited.

I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. This is a short and sweet romance between Jordan and Evan. She is trying to start over after a bad ex. Evan is her new landlord and they have chemistry right from the beginning. Neither was looking for love but found it front and center. All of the characters were great in this story.
