I love a good inspirational poetry book from time to time but for me I found myself struggling a little to enjoy this one as much.
I felt the rhyming was a little too much for me maybe. I guess in a way It felt more like motivational quotes. One star is a bit harsh honestly because I know some of these weren’t bad at all just didn’t feel they were my usual type of poetry compared to other poetry books I’ve read in the past.
One I thought was pretty good though was this one because we could all do with a little reminder from time to time to be grateful for all we have:
**Be thankful for every day, And all the small things that come your way. Be thankful for your health, And fill your heart with gratitude and wealth. Be thankful for the roof over your head, And that you have a warm, comfy bed. Be thankful for the knowledge you know, And the learning you have left to grow. Be thankful for nature all around, And the soothing, calming sounds. Be thankful for the air that you breathe, And for every blessing you receive.
Enjoying reading more poetry at the moment and this should have been right up my street but read more to me like a series of motivational quotes. Not for me. One star felt harsh but two felt generous, apologies!
Believe is a heartwarming collection of poetry designed to inspire, comfort, and uplift. Cheryl Lee-White uses her words to gently remind readers of their inherent value and the strength that lies within, even in life's darkest moments. Poems like "You Matter" and "Stars Shine in the Dark" are profound in their simplicity, offering hope and encouragement to anyone feeling lost or overwhelmed.
This book serves as a beacon of positivity, inviting readers to reflect on their own resilience and embrace the light they carry. Perfect for anyone seeking motivation, empowerment, or a sense of solace, Believe is a beautiful testament to the transformative power of poetry.
Poems That I Liked: Intuition, Dance To Your Own Beat, The Mountain Is Calling, Prove Them Wrong, Breathe, You Matter, The Voice Inside Your Head, Beautiful and Unique, Never Let Go Of Your Dreams, Anxiety, Fear, Self-worth, What If I Fail, Self-Love, 24 Hours, Be A Butterfly, Wishing On A Dream, Bathe Yourself In Ocean Rainbow, Flower Bloom, Star Shine In The Dark.
Unfortunately this poetry book wasn’t for me as I don’t enjoy poetry that rhymes, but that’s my fault for purchasing a book without checking the formatting beforehand, so I can’t rate it negatively just because I don’t personally like this style of writing.
What I can say is this is a positive, uplifting collection of poems that did make me smile on a couple of occasions and is consistent with its empowering theme.
If you don’t mind rhyming (every poem in this book rhymes) and want something lighthearted and uplifting then I’d recommend this for you. If you’re used to your poetry being a bit heavier in substance and discussing specific difficult topics then this probably isn’t the poetry collection for you.
I will probably revisit this collection from time to time and reflect on a few key ideas posed about taking charge of your own well-being.
I usually love this sort of thing but it felt really forced using words that rhymed even when they didn’t fit with the poem. Some lines sounded like yoda was talking because she changed the structure of the sentence just so it would rhyme. When she rhymed depression with recession I knew it was a 1 star.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This collection was a beautiful and moving experience, filled with heartfelt verses that resonated deeply. Each poem felt like a glimpse into something raw and true, making it a joy to read and reflect on!
The poems were very short and not to my personal taste. Eg first poem 2 lines second poem 4 lines. Words choosen for rythem but didn't always fit with the poem. (In my opinion). They choose an overlarge font. Speaking as a Dyslexic font and size are important. I also liked the illustrations.
