At the age of twenty-seven, Legacy Hendrix has accomplished what it would take most men to do by the age of fifty. He has it all-the looks, money, and fame. So what more could he ask for? Not only is he considered royalty in the streets of Chicago but from his hometown, Criland as well, and there they treat him like the prince he truly is. Now he’s coming into what he’s been waiting on all his life… to become the King of Criland. However, becoming king comes with a list of rules... and consequences if not abided by.Legacy has completed all of the necessary tasks to gain accession to the throne, except for one, which is the most important one of them-to produce an heir. With his wife Jazzlyn incapable of conceiving any children, this puts them in a difficult situation, especially with this son having to be born before his twenty-eighth birthday. Time is winding down for Legacy, and his patience is wearing thin. He feels as though he’s all out of options. That is until the beautiful Mariah blesses him with her presence. At the age of twenty-five, Mariah Banks s caring for her ill grandmother, who’s dying of breast cancer. Knowing that the end is nearing, Mariah has difficulty accepting it, mainly because she doesn’t want to be left alone in the cold world. Unbeknownst to her, things are about to change drastically in her life when she crosses paths with Legacy, but will this change be for better or worse? See what happens when a prince stops at nothing to become king, even if that means someone will end up with a broken heart in the end.
This was all over the place 😭😭 everyone had a chapter in this book I feel like. Characters I cared nothing about. Also the amount of dirt and secrets everyone had was so freaking annoying cause I knew it was gonna blow up in everyone’s face towards the end… and guess what it did because she left it on a CLIFFHANGER
I honestly was so stressed reading this book that I’m not sure if I want to read the next book—if there is even one out. Legacy was narcissistic and controlling the more their relationship grew. Mariah personality kept flip flopping for me but she was the only sane one besides Malachi and Gigi.
And don’t get me started on Jazzlyn. For someone who doesn’t want to be stuck in a marriage she sure did everything in her power to ruin everything. And Jamal why didn’t you just be honest with Legacy three years ago—why would you hide something like that
Anywho this is like a 2.8/5 just for the last 25% of the book.
Destiny came in and blew Jamal and Jazzlyn whole affair out the water. Destiny feelings are hurt that's why she did that bull. She wants the love JamaI has got for Jazz. I got to give Jamal partial credit, he did try to tell his brother and he kept getting interrupted. Legacy is a bully, I don't care if he's a prince or not. I love Mariah little feisty self. She doesn't take nothing from no one. If Legacy is given her attitude best believe she's giving it to him right back. I want to know why their grandma don't have like Jazz? Elijah is an assassin. Now Omar got to feel real stupid. Her daddy got to feel really dumb. Legacy parents are that they are going to be grand parents. I hope Donna gets every thing that 's coming to her.
First time reading this author and I was not disappointed. This was so good. Everyone was on point except for Donna and maybe Denise. Hopefully Malachi’s son is not bad towards Mariah but what a shocking ending. Now I think Legacy did too much with this news from Jamal but let’s put it with him being already on edge with what happened earlier but if I have to say a negative thing, I think it will be if Legacy trying to be too “gangsta” or too vicious. In any case I truly want to know what’s on Mariah’s tape. One thing I gave to say is that don’t read too much into other reviews good or bad, because you need to get yours and see for your self. This was a great read from a wonderful author.
Legacy has no redeeming qualities. He’s narcissistic at the least. His crazy possessiveness of Mariah is a huge red flag. He’s immature. He thinks sex is the answer to every problem. He’s a liar and deceitful. He trapped Mariah with a baby. Again, just no redeeming qualities. To the point where I’m asking why is Mariah even tolerating him? Then let’s talk about the plot. Man, I know this is fiction and therefore a lot of liberties are allowed but the fictional kingdoms are too much. It just doesn’t make sense. A matter of fact, much of this book just doesn’t make sense. Which is a pet peeve of mine. So as you can guess, this book is truly irritating to my soul.
I was so excited to read this story especially because it's not often that I find books with black royalty, so to say I was excited to start this story is an understatement. I wanted to love this story so much that I purchased all three books but for the life of me I could not get into this story, and I really tried. I'm not sure if it was the pace of the story because YES, the pace was slow as heck for me or the flow of the story because it seemed to be all over the place at times. I also think it could have been because the author didn't give us time to get to know the characters before jumping into the drama, fussing, fighting, secrets, jealousy, revenge, betrayal and more. As much as I wanted to love this story, this one just wasn't the one for me.
This book has a great plot but the execution is not the best. There were no descriptions of the characters or the situations they were having. Many of the pertinent details to make you actually like the characters weren’t there. We got a prologue from jazz’s pov (which did nothing for the actual story) but she was not the main character. There were so many characters with chapters that did not pertain to the plot. If we could have gotten descriptive details in the main characters chapters the story would have been so much better. Also you could tell a woman wrote this story by the language during the men dialogue text. I didn’t finish reading, stopped at 57%
Omg I'm glad i waited for pt.2 to drop before reading pt.1. I'm jumping right in cuz those skeletons are slowly coming out the closet. Jazz and Jamal didn't think their secret would never have gotten out. They should've been let that cat out that bag. Po lil Mariah got the world at her fingertips and don't even know it. Legacy was so good for her but he should've kept it real. Gigi gon haunt his tail now. This series is getting so good and can't wait to read what happens in pt.2.
Wow, just wow! First read by Alecia and I'm def impressed. Who knew royals be on sum str8 bull too 🤣 I wanna say some scenarios were a little predictable, but how they came out was surely not expected, which is a plus!! Everyone had their secrets and just about everything came to light by the end of the book. Now I expected Legacy to go off, but that cliffhanger tho 🤫🤭
What in the world did I just read?!?! These people are crazy!
Legacy needs a foot in his… Jamal and Jazzlyn need their two feet in their…
And poor sweet naive Mariah…Lord help!
Expecting The Prince’s Heir, has royal drama, family drama and hood drama. Throw in hot sex and romance…Chile it’s a page turner! lol. Looking forward to book 2.
This series (2 books) is my first read by this author. I believe there is great potential here. The writing is well done, however, for MY reading tastes, there are too many points of view (8) and the side storylines take away from the impact of the main storyline to me. I will definitely keep this author on my list and I look forward to seeing more. MY 3 stars = Good/complete story
This is my first read by this author, but not my last. Enjoyed the storyline and these characters. Held my attention and I couldn't put it down. These royals got so much drama going on, add in the secrets, deceit and betrayal. Even though, some things were kinda predictable, but their outcome wasn't what I expected....loving the twist and turns. After that ending, I'm on to the next installment. Good job Alecia J.
Whew this book had me locked in from the beginning and kept getting better and better! Legacy is bae but he should’ve told Mariah the truth before someone else could. I can’t stand Jazz! Mariah ain’t nothing to play with. I wonder what Donna did. I loved Gigi, she had me cracking up! Who got shot??? I can’t wait to read part 2. Great book. Alecia J definitely has a new fan in me!
This story is both royalty and hood! So many secrets between Mariah and Legacy as well as between the brothers. So many unanswered questions! Also will all the truths come out. What about Donna, Denise and Omari. Knowing what she knows will Mariah return? Did Legacy really shoot someone? I must keep reading! One big problem I must address is there are a lot of errors, missing words, editing needed!
This 5 star read has me hooked and I can't get enough. The author does a great job with well developed characters. Characters that are interesting, likeable, and crazy. The story has secrets, lies, drama, and a few surprises. Definitely worth the read and I can't wait to read part two.
So this was my first read by this author and I must say she did the darn thang! Reading this book I thought that there was no way that this was her first book! All the lies, drama and deceit going on in this storyline is what kept me turning those pages! Right away I was pulled in and could not stop reading! Trust and believe I most definitely will be reading part 2!
This is my first read by this author. It was pretty good. Though there were so slight inconsistencies and the timeline got a little bit fuzzy on some parts, I did enjoy it. If "oh what a tangled web we weave when we first learn to deceive" was a group of ppl it would most def be them!
First time reading, a book by this author and glad I took a chance.. Listen if you are looking drama with sprinkle of compassion and family. This is the book for you. Legacy has potential to be a book bae sometimes but he definitely possessive..Mariah.. Chillleeee.. no comment.
This is a good read and I can"t wait to read the next part. I hoped didn't shoot his brother and wife in the heat of the moment. Destiny was wrong for telling it like that but she's hurt so it's understandable hurt ppl like to see other ppl.hurt. Hell everybody is gonna get their karma when all secrets and lies hit the fan
I loved this book however legacy is a nasty person that doesn’t have respect. Even though Jamal should of said something legacy still need to give the same respect he wants give to him. I love Mariah for him. I also want jazz to get to be with Jamal. I think it’s fucked up for him to want to kill them.
I can’t wait to read book 2. How Mariah and Elijah the assassin become friends. I hope King Malachi finishes off Donna before he leaves the states. Where did Denise disappear too? I felt bad for Denise a little, she got played but she still had a choice at the end of the day. GiGi still has Mariah’s back even in death.
Loved this book from start to finish. Mariah is such a sweet girl with so much loyalty and compassion. I loved the love Legacy has for Mariah although it's crazy love . Jazz is a snake just like Donna. Jamal should have come to Legacy like a man. Gigi was a real one I hate she had to leave Mariah. Definitely purchasing part two. Great job Alecia
The book was good, I was upset to find out it had a to be continued at the end. I usually wait for finish books / or series. Some how this one slide pass me. This is a new author for me, so in other words I'll be patiently waiting for book 2. The book was good.
My girl came with that heat and I loved every second of it !!! To know you personally and to be a very active reader, you did not disappoint boo. You up there with the best books I have read!! I can’t wait for part 2 ❤️❤️
Now I must say this was a good book. I have been reading books for years. I could always guess how the story was going to turn out. Girl you surprised me. Wanting on the next part.
I loved everything about this book. Especially how Mariah didn't take mess from anyone. Jazz should have been truthful from the beginning because I believe what Mariah said was true about her.
Now this is what keeping my attention is all about!! Raih baby is pissed and Jamal and Jazz I just don’t understand why they did not tell. Riah dad a King.!! Who killed Riah mom??? Then the cliffhanger. Book 2 please!!!!
GREAT BOOK!!! You did your Thang with this one. My only regret is not realizing there was a part 2 before reading. Please don't take too long with the next book. Again, YOU DID THE DARN THANG.
This is my first time reading the author and this book was in my top five this is a must read and please don't make me wait too long for part two this was just too good to not read again.
This book was an interesting read, each character was developed so well, I love the black royalty with a bit of drama….I’m super excited to see what happens in part two!! Great first read by this author
