After a tough beginning, single career woman, Jennifer Delaney, has life all figured out. A rocking career in finance, a great group of friends and singing with the community chorus fill her calendar and provide her with total satisfaction. Until the phone rings. Until an upbeat familiar voice from the past reawakens her heart and reminds her of what she’s been missing.

Playwright Doug Collins has never forgotten the girl he left behind. Even though it was Jennifer who’d made that final decision. “Go to New York and have a wonderful life,” she’d said before running back to her family, a family that still needed her. But that was five years ago. Five years of Jen in the back of his mind, nestled in his heart. Now memories are not enough! Doug packs up his car and heads to Boston in search of that “wonderful life.”

Most reunions have bumpy beginnings and not all end well. Jennifer and Doug have a lot to figure out. But they’re smart, honest, and were once madly in love. Do they have a chance at finding the ending they so richly deserve?

Just very boring no excitement.

I truly would not recommend this book; it was slow and boring. However, I believe in family as well as, the next but second chances don't come around that often for women over thirty five and dull.

Too dysfunctional for me

I could not warm up to the woman in this story and was not interested in spending reading time with her.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy from the Author. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.Unforgettable by Linda Barrett is a wonderfully written second chance romance.
Will Doug win Jen's heart again?
Jennifer Delaney
Jen is the second sibling of the five Delaney kids. She has always been there for her siblings, at least since they lost both of their parents in a tragic car accident. Doug lost Jen five years before when she refused to move to New York and leave her family in Boston. But can Jen get past the same obstacle again and again?

I enjoyed Jennifer's point of view. She hasn't gotten past her parents' death, but she has great potential if she can let go of the past. It was fun to watch her fall for Doug again and figure out what is important to her. Her character grows tremendously throughout the story; it is beautiful to watch.
Doug Collins
Unforgettable CRDoug is the oldest in his family. However, he and his parents aren't close. His relationship with his sister is better. Doug couldn't forget Jen, so he decides to move back to Boston and show her what she is missing. He plans to court her until she feels the same way she used to feel about him.

Doug is good for Jen. However, he needs to figure out how to let her be part of his entire life. At least include her in the decisions. You can see that he loves her and is willing to do just about anything for her. It is adorable. The ending is definitely happy.
Four Stars
I enjoyed the story, characters, and setting. Ms. Barrett does a beautiful job of getting us to root for Jen and Doug's love immediately. My rating for Unforgettable by Linda Barrett is four stars. If you are looking for a quick romantic read, I recommend this one.

First book of series is free, but...

I enjoyed the story of Jen and Doug. Sweethearts through college, she made the decision to stay in Boston, where her four siblings lived, when Doug's career is in NYC. Years later, he returns to Boston, to live and to rekindle his relationship with Jen. After a few obstacles, conflicts, tough decisions, the book ends abruptly. Not a cliffhanger, just anticlimactic.

Admittedly, I do not know how authors are compensated for ebook sales, but as a subscriber to Kindle Unlimited, I don't continue a series if I have to buy the remaining books. I just can't afford it.

I really liked the majority of the book. I loved Doug and Jen’s differences that ultimately bring them back together, coupled with their strong love. I think there was a great job done to genuinely demonstrate what this would look like in real life characters. However, I found the ending to be abrupt. I think more time could have been spent in showing how Doug or Jen or both could compromise to either make the movie work or not; it felt so rushed after the rest of the book was a more slow burn. Even in completely committed partners of many years, I feel this decision to not make the movie would have been talked about much more and for longer.

Sometimes Time does heal all wounds

I totally enjoyed reading this story. The parents fatal accident led into the story of a strong young family of siblings making the best for each other. There were lots of sacrifices and love for each other as a family. Jen and Doug reunited through alot of hurt and sorrow. They finally took a chance on each other and well you need to read the rest for yourself.
I definitely recommend this book. Thanks for an interesting story that I couldn't put down.

I enjoyed this story concept, but felt that there was too much to-ing and fro-ing between now and the past!

I understand that the author wanted to get the message across that Jen needed to be near to her family, but I felt that she came across as selfish. Everything had to be on her terms!

In the final chapter, when Doug gives up his chance of the big time, I felt this was one step too far!! Why don't characters ever talk openly? Why bother with phone conversations if nothing gets said until it's too late to change anything?

Great love story!

I really liked Doug. He was realistic, yet a dreamer. Jen was an emotional nut in my opinion, but she did get better as the story went on. Only a couple of times did the author have a character repeat herself. Loved Jen's family, loved Doug's mom & disliked his uncaring father. This is exactly what the author wanted me to feel. Clean romance to make it a great novel! Thank you Ms Barrett for writing a great clean romance with fun characters!

Good Story

The story moved along quickly. Really liked the way the main characters reconnected, and the way the back story was presented. Two drawbacks: minor editing issues and the fact that the main characters and a secondary couple started living together before marriage. Fortunately, there were no explicit sex scenes.

Jennifer Delaney and Doug Collins were college sweethearts in Boston. Jen stayed in Boston with a career in finance and Doug moved to New York with a career as a playwright. Doug returns to Boston five years later and rekindles his relationship with Jen. There are obstacles, conflicts and tough decisions both of them face. I really enjoyed this wonderful contemporary romance novel.

Playwriter's Script

Doug left Boston and his college-love for New York and Broadway. Jennifer thought that since her parent's death her brothers and sisters needed her to stay near. Doug finally returned but things just didn't seem the same.

Doug and Jen

Going back in time to where you left your sweetheart and the place you loved, Doug couldn't do anymore. So he goes back to his lost love but not forgotten. Good story to follow and I read in one day.

Realistic romance

I loved reading how a couple worked through their challenges all the while learning so much about screenwriters’ lives. The story was down to earth and the characters felt real.

To many characters. Way too much going on without anything actually going on. Jennifer was such a selfish character. Pretty high on the worse book I've ever read list. Still have no idea what happened at the end.

Good to the Very End

She had a lot of emotional baggage. He was loving and patient. She overcame her insecurities as she learned more about herself and their relationship.

The title was misleading, I find the book forgettable, and Jenny unlikable. Jenny was selfish and juvenile. I am unsure why I finished.
