Gideon, Tallie, and Joshua travel to Arizona Territory searching for Rollie Anderson, a murderer and thief. Before they can search for Anderson’s hideout near the Mogollon Rim, two bounty hunters get on Joshua’s trail.
In the meantime, Anderson steals several wagon loads of gold from the Vulture Mine near Wickensburg. Somehow, he finds out about even secret shipments and stops them.
It’s up to Gideon and the others to find out who is giving him information and stop them, along with capturing Anderson. If Joshua can get away from the bounty hunters after him, that is.
Gideon, his wife Tallie and his brother Joshua stay busy throughout this compelling western folklore masterpiece, when they begin their pursuit of a gang bent on robbing gold filled wagons!
Definitely another five star extravaganza by Mr.WInkle who is very adept in maintaining his reader undivided attention from beginning to end! Due to an inside man keeping the infamous gang leader aware of the ongoing schedules of the company's gold deliveries. The outlaw leader and the company spy have a unique way to pass along the information on each new delivery, which befuddled the company Superintendent completely befuddled from beginning to end! As always, Mr. Winkle's exceptionally outstanding descriptiveness of storylines maintains anyone's undivided attention throughout this outstanding western masterpiece! Also, the Author's perfectly selected group of characters could not have been any better portrayed, as I was mesmerized from beginning to end with their commanding assignments! Most definitely recommend this superbly written series of unending adventures to all, but you western addicted fanatics, as I am, will certainly find yourselves completely engrossed within the first few pages! Even you non-western enthusiasts will be completely entertained from beginning to end, as there are no slow downs throughout the entire story! You are the loser if you fail to follow Gideon and his crew, as they, once again bring the old American West to fruition!!!😃
Rollie Anderson escapes from the prison wagon. Plenty of killings there even the other prisoners. I didn’t count the killings, but there were plenty. Every time Rollie Andersen and his gang robbed a wagon. They killed all the guards including the driver. This happened several times. Gideon and Tallie found their hide out a lot of time before the gang completed their last robberies so I’m surprised they didn’t take a posse or go back there to catch those criminals. I guess they had to find out who was feeding information from the mine on when the shipments took place and then everything was taken care of in short order. Joshua had his own troubles with two bounty hunters that just wanted to kill him to make getting the reward easier, but he took care of that.
Always love the Gideon books. His wife Tallie and Joshua (half brother) makes the stories interesting also. Always look forward to the next Gideon book.
