This book is advertised as a “YA Paranormal Cozy Mystery,” and it pretty well checks all the boxes. Like most Cozy Mysteries, it’s light on the blood, gore, and violence. As a Cozy Paranormal about vampires, it’s likewise light on the horror nastiness. The conflict is balanced nicely between the supernatural danger, the solving of the mystery, and the romantic relationship between the main character and her…let’s call him partner.
The main character of the series, Jenna, is a younger version of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Most of the time she is a normal teenager, mildly insecure in a likeable way. However, there are times when I get the impression that the author’s voice is seeping through, and Jenna sounds more like twenty-five. However, we expect a certain amount of maturity in someone who kills supernatural evil beings, so it’s forgivable. The other characters are the mild stereotypes we expect in this genre.
The author has spent a great deal of effort in creating the paranormal environment and the rules for the magic that is used. She does not make the mistake of letting the magic overwhelm the characters. They are responsible for what happens. However, there is rather too much explanation of the background details of people’s powers, especially at times when readers are dying (well, not quite) to have the action move along.
Likewise, there is rather a lot of setting description, perhaps too much at times, and a great deal of clothing-and-makeup disclosure. Perhaps that’s appropriate for the intended readers.
The ending is sufficiently tidy to wrap up the book, with a few loose ends left to tantalize us into looking for the next one in the Jenna Sutton Supernatural series.
Recommended as a light, fun read for young adults and all the rest of us.

I was lucky enough to get an advanced review copy of Kimberly Wylie's upcoming book and loved it for several reasons.
First, the characters were great. I especially loved the main character, Jenna. Although it's been a few years since I've been in high school, and I've never had to hunt monsters, I could really relate with her. She was strong, yet there are moments where the reader gets to see her vulnerabilities, which makes her not only relatable, but very real.
None of Wylie's characters are stereotypes. For instance, there's the wealthy, pretty cheerleader, but she too is flawed. And there are times when you feel sorry for her and start to understand why she acts the way she does.
Clearly, Ms. Wylie has back stories on all of her characters, and I would love to read them!
Second, the mystery itself. I'm a sucker for a good cozy mystery. Sadly, some of the paranormal cozy mysteries lately I've read really aren't cozies at all. Ms. Wylie does a superb job at giving the reader a classic cozy mystery with a paranormal twist.
Lastly, all the other bits! There is so much in this book that goes on from Aunt Cassie to the love triangle (square?) that made me gobble up the pages faster than a bag of Skittles. I haven't been this eager for the next book in a series since I first read the Harry Potter series.

Received as an ARC**This book starts off a little slow with a lot of detail. After the first two chapters, it’s begins to pick up pace while revealing a great story line. The main character is strong female who has a good sense of humor. The detail and personality with the different characters creates a good visual for the reader. As the plot thickened, I couldn’t put the book down in hopes of finding out what happens next.

Review: Overall this was an ok book. I liked the premise of the book and I like how much it resembles Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The book had an intriguing plot that helped me keep going through the book.
However, I really didn't like this one. The book was very rushed and the backstory was very confusing and hard to understand. The Buffy inspo feels a little too much like Buffy and not enough of it's own. The romance is quickly rushed and the pacing is so rushed! I felt like I was running a marathon trying to read the book.
Verdict: It's not for me but maybe for you!

I loved this book! It was suspenseful, page turning, and had a hint of a maybe-romance (which I always love!). It was definitely a cozy mystery, one I could imagine myself reading by a fire with a blanket and a cup of hot cocoa.
I also love how Jenna isn't a stereotypical main character, but she's cool, relatable, and a nice role model.
All in all, this was an amazing book, with great characters, an awesome writing style, and a nice ending. (Plus there's no bad content!)
I'm eagerly awaiting the sequel!

Great start to a paranormal cozy mystery series. This book introduces us to Jenna and her friends as they try to figure out why people are getting zombie bites around the local school. There is an overarching, series-long mystery as well: Jenna's mom is missing.
Enjoyable characters, quick pacing, and plenty of mystery abound. I enjoyed the book as a fast read and will recommend it to paranormal cozy readers. Thanks to BookSirens for arranging a pre-publication ARC for me to review!

Jenna Sutton is our hunter of the story. Not only in her own words, she is nothing like Buffy, but she truly isn't anything like Buffy. Jenna is a normal human who just so happens to hunt supernatural creatures when she isn't in school. She recently lost her mom. Literally, she has no clue if her mom is dead or not because there are no remains for her to claim at the morgue. Jenna is surviving on her own and has her best friend to help her out with hunting as well. She also has an organization to help her out when she needs them.
I don't know if I would like Jenna if I met her in real life. She isn't friendly and constantly overthinks things that she can't control.
Supernatural Aspect
Jenna Sutton comes from a long line of hunters like her mom before her. They work at a place called Consoritum. The Consoritum is a place where hunters are employed to do whatever is needed. The Consoritum can also employ hunters, but they have to pay them for their services. They also have supernatural creatures working within them as well. An example: witches or warlocks. Not only that but almost every single creature that we heard about growing up is real in this story. Yup, vampires, witches, zombies, werewolves, and whatever else you can think of is probably real. Jenna has a zombie problem, and that is her mystery to figure out if another zombie created the zombie or if someone raised it from the dead. Not only that, but who the zombie's next targets are.
Four Stars
Zombies for Everyone by Kimberly Wylie is a young adult paranormal cozy mystery that is the first story in its series. I admit I was having a hard time with it because I wasn't sure how it would be a cozy mystery. However, the author did meet that goal.
Ms. Wylie has done an excellent job of crafting the story. I have to say that it reminded me more of the TV show Supernatural more than it did Buffy. The story did, in my opinion, end abruptly, and I was left with a lot of questions. Other than that, I enjoyed it enough to give it four stars and to recommend it to you, paranormal cozy mystery readers.

YA Cozy is a new one for me, though I will say this book feels more like a paranormal adventure story than a cozy mystery. The mystery was well-paced with plenty of clues. It was easy to assume why the attacks were happening once it came up in conversation, and from there, very easy to pick out the big bad. Still, the story was an enjoyable one with lots of action and plenty of pop culture references, some of which I am certain are less applicable to the YA crowd than their parents, but fun nonetheless.
In this book we are introduced to Jenna and her partner Kieron, high school students with a little something extra. She is a Hunter. Her job is to investigate and hunt down things that go bump in the night. Kind of a cross between Dean Winchester and Buffy Summers. Kieron provides moral, tech, and info support. They are asked to track down the source of a zombie bite before it leads to a full-on outbreak. It becomes apparent that there is more going on than a simple zombie attack and with several great suspects, it moves at a fair clip.
Despite the extracurriculars they really are just typical seventeen-year-old kids worrying about dating, homework, and mean girls. That is a fun contrast to the uber adult nature of the work they do. Jenna’s mother is missing, presumed dead (a story point that I am certain will be prominent in upcoming books) Leaving Jenna with the job of caring for herself while staying under the radar of adults who would put her in the system.
The magic world built for this story is sound, though it will need some bolstering ahead as it went up fairly quickly. I think another 50 pages of story could have easily softened the info dump feel. There is a lot of information to process about magic and recurring characters, as well as The Consortium and The Covens, but at some point in this series, things are going to get really interesting and my sixth sense is tingling in anticipation. This is a great story for age 12-18 readers and really for anyone who enjoys YA and/or paranormal cozy.

My Recommendation: ★★★★★★★★☆☆
This was a interesting book, and I did quite in enjoy it. It was fast pace, had some nice world building, witty banter, and low key action that was more PG then what you would have seen from Buffy. I feel like there was a lot of hype about Jenna's abilities, but when it was time to shine, the action for me fell short. I don't like that her spotlight was overshadowed.
Though I enjoyed this quick read, I do have some... concerns about one particular romance sub-plot, that not only made my eye twitch, I almost put the book down. Our MC is still minor in this book(17), and her other love interested is a warlock who's age isn't told, except for a vague reference to him being either 20 or 60... do you see where I have an issue? I don't min having a little love triangle, or competition, as it makes the story fun and cheesy; but that vague age, just isn't sitting right. I don't like it one bit. Maybe he is 20, as our MC will be 18 soon, ..... but not 60.. like no. I believe this needs to be addressed ASAP. Because even alluding to grooming, no matter the context, isn't okay.
Outside of that sub-plot, I liked the overall flow. There's originality to this world, and there are many mysteries that will keep me reading on. I need to know whats happened to MC's mom, why did ---> (sorry can't say that one as it will be a spoiler.)
I believe this story will be full of many more mysteries and creatures that our MC needs to fight and navigate. I'm looking forwards to hopefully more detail action, and highlighting Jenna's abilities and talents.
Overall this book is a fun,fast, lighthearted read that will having to wondering about the things that go bump in the night, and wondering if, maybe, just maybe, we have s similar underground organization acting and fighting mythical creatures right under our noses.

Thoughts and Themes: Once I started reading this one, I had a hard time putting it down as it drew me in. The story starts off slow as they introduce you to the role that Jenna plays in this town and some of the people that she works with. It picks up rather quickly though as you get introduced to the problem that the town is facing and Jenna’s new case.
I really liked how short each of these chapters are and how they flow well with each other. I really enjoyed the world-building that takes place as you learn about Jenna as a hunter and the different creatures that she is hunting. While I am familiar with the traditional story of zombies, it was nice for this book to recap what we know as zombies and then further explain what types of zombies they encounter.
Characters: In this story there are two main characters that the story centers around, Jenna and Kieran. I really liked getting to know each of the characters seperately and reading as they worked together.
Something that I wasn’t too fond of was the relationship that begins to develop between the two main characters. I felt that the relationship was a bit forced and was frustrated by all of Jenna’s internal thoughts about Kieron when they were trying to solve a case.
I like the side characters that you get to meet who work with Jenna on her cases. While we only get brief glimpses of these characters, I was happy to see the people that her world consisted of.
Writing Style: This story is written in first person through the perspective of the main character, Jenna. I like that this story is written through her perspective as the story reads the correct age for our main character. I thought that it was great to have the book written in first person and in Jenna’s perspective because there are teenage moments throughout the book that interfere with her doing her job.

I thought that it was great to have the book written in first person and in Jenna’s perspective because there are teenage moments throughout the book that interfere with her doing her job.

If you are fans of paranormal stories and a little bit of Buffy, you will enjoy this. It has been a while since I have read anything involving zombies or the supernatural so this was a nice change of pace, though this book is far from slow - from the start you are bombarded with information (though a lot of unanswered questions along the way) as Jenn and her sidekick and best friend Kieron go a zombie hunt following an attack on a teacher in a local high school - all whilst trying to hide the fact that she is currently a student at another high school! There are a lot of Buffy vibes throughout the book, that sometimes overshadowed the uniqueness of this story

I loved the characters and the story, but I was left with more questions than answers - What happened to Jenna's mother? I want more information the Consortium and I hope that everything will be revealed in future books, but I feel a few more chapters to flesh out some backstory would have been great for this book. I really can't wait for book two so I can hopefully get answers! I wonder what Ms. Wylie has in store for Jenna next.

Zombies for Everyone by Kimberly Wylie is a fun, light-hearted read. For a cozy mystery, some of the descriptions were a little too "bloody" for my liking, but it wasn't too much. Then again, this story is about a woman who kills vampires and other supernatural beings.
I have to admit, the book wasn't exactly what I thought it would be. I found the premise a little hard to follow and didn't understand why the protagonist did what she did. On the other hand, there was sometimes too much background given that maybe some important points went over my head.
This story is targeted at YA and I think I would have enjoyed it more if the character was an adult. But I'm not the targeted audience, so maybe it fits just fine as a YA. But also, there was little character development and more story-driven, which I prefer to learn more about the characters along the way.
Overall, it's a quick read and enjoyable enough. I don't know if I'll rush out to buy book two when that comes out, though.

The cover for this book gave me pause, because it looks very childish.
However the book was very well done! The author absolutely needs to buy better covers though. Because a cover is the first thing a reader sees.
The plot was surprisingly in depth, with a supernatural system and manner of hunting that was far more put together than Buffy ever was. Frankly, I would much rather read this series than watch Buffy ever again. While the TV show may have been iconic at the time, it was such a hot mess.
This series is what I wish Buffy had been. It's a well oiled machine, with little of the absurd drama, and is focused on actual plot. The case in book one was really interesting, as was learning how this world works.
Plus the main character is very level-headed, which I really enjoy. She's not breaking out into hysteria every 5 minutes, especially over boys. She's mature, quick on her feet, intelligent, and has an interesting back story.
I see there is a 2nd book available, which I will definitely read. I'm hoping there will be more books in this series in the future!

I truly enjoyed reading the cozy mystery Zombies for Everyone by Kimberly Wylie. A local teacher has been bitten by a zombie and it's up to highschooler Jenna (who is part of the Consoritum) and her best friend Kieron to discover where the zombie is and stop it before a huge outbreak happens. She gets to set up shop at the other high school in town in order to solve the mystery.
Jenna and Kieron had good chemistry but weren't exactly dating. Things start to heat up a bit toward the end of the book. It was exciting to try to figure out who had caused the chaos and what was going to happen next. The story kept me interested. You don’t have to worry about it being too gory; it’s mainly about solving the paranormal mystery! I love that cozy mysteries are now for the YA/New Adult crowd. Everyone deserves a cozy! I really liked the premise of this cozy. I think I would have enjoyed it more with an older protagonist. The teenage angst coupled with the tragic backstory just felt a little off for a cozy mystery. And the relationship angle with Kieron is a little forced.
Not all of it was unsatisfying though. I think with 50-75 more pages, the author could have expanded on Jenna’s backstory a bit more. I would have liked more details about her mother’s death. I could have used more details about the Consortium. I just could have used more.
I would read further in the Jenna Sutton series - there are things I’m hoping will be resolved in the next books.

For the first book in a series I felt like this story line has a lot of promise. I enjoyed meeting Jenna and Kieron and the cast of characters at the school. I hope to learn more about the Consortium as the series progresses.
The pacing was a little stop and start I felt like. But for YA that kind of makes sense considering the main characters are in high school.

This is a fun light read that hits all the right buttons. There was a lot of set up of world and magic and description but for the first in a series this was helpful. I was given this book for free for honest reviews and I am so glad I can reccomend it.
The main character is a vampire hunter but a zombie is running around loose so her and her best friend start trying to track it down and see who is responsible. Light on gore, heavy on clean up by members of the Consortium, the ruling body of hunters and other supernaturals. Fun bits of pop culture and characters that make you want to read the next one.

The premise of the book felt a bit generic at first. Even the dialogue itself admitted it. But with time one does gets sucked into the plot. The characters are nice, if not original. And likable. But you will meet most of the existing cliches in the genre. The writing is crisp, the plot evenly paced, there were hardly any typos. Overall a good quick summer read. I wish the characters were more original and less predictable, though.

The Best Zombie !
First I couldn't put this book down ! The plot was great with lots of mystery, adventure, and some comedy and romance. It was; to me; A very realistic plot for a paranormal book. I could see it unfolding the way it did in real life,if we had zombies and other paranormal creatures. The characters were realistic and flawed. I can't wait to read the next book in the series. Although this can be read as a stand alone. I recommend this book to everyone, paranormal story lover or not.

I enjoyed this book. It was a fun read. Good characters with a fast plot. It isn't very long but it's still a five star story. Zombie with a kick butt heroin and hansom side kick. No graphic sexual content and not much fighting. I recommend it for all ages. All in all a good book. I will keep my eye out for books written by this author. Entertaining read. Centered more on the story more than actual character development but it was an easy read. I’m not sure I’ll continue as it didn’t delve as far into the backstory or give much insight into who the characters are, more like little tidbits here and there you kind of had to piece together, but is wasn’t an in enjoyable read.

A great intro to a YA cozy series about a teenage supernatural monster hunter. Jenna is trying to balance high school and her hunting job, along with her confusing feelings for her longtime best friend, Kieran. This book started out a little slow for me at first but got much better. I enjoyed the supernatural aspect of the book combined with the cozy. Tge characters were well written and I like the little romance you can see between Jenna and Kieron.i would recommend this book.

Very entertaining! I really enjoyed reading this book from this author that I haven’t read before. It grabbed me in Chapter 1, and it kept me interested throughout! The ending was great, as well! I look forward to read more in this series and from this author!

This book was pretty cute. A pretty, young, blonde and absolutely NOTHING like Buffy the Vampire Slayer hunts things that go bump in the night. When it looks like a zombie is attacking teachers, it falls to Jenna to save the day and hopefully keep her GPA high.
I adored the characters and can’t wait to read more about them. The story was tied up by the end with no cliffhangers and it was a fun little read. I can’t wait to read the next one.

Zombies for Everyone was a quick read following a high school girl as she investigates a potential zombie outbreak.
Balancing school with her work as a hunter for the Consortium leaves Jenna Sutton little free time. There's just not much time for typical high school pursuits when you're killing the things that go bump in the night. Following an attack on a teacher at a nearby school, it quickly becomes clear the wound could only be caused by a zombie. Sent to infiltrate the school and find who is behind the attack, Jenna will need to work fast before the administration realizes she's not who she says she is.
The premise of Zombies for Everyone sounded fun with an almost Buffy-esque inspired plot. Unfortunately this book lacked the charm of that TV series and I found myself not enjoying the story. It was just entirely implausible that a high school student was somehow fooling people who are used to dealing with teenagers that she's older than she is. I also found the plot to be a bit rushed and felt the pacing was off. The romance element also didn't really work for me as I didn't buy the connection between Jenna and Kieron who seemed better suited as friends.

An operative for the consortium the seventeen year old is drafted into investigating a zombie attacks on a high school teacher. This is a fast paced light hearted high school Paranormal cozy mystery well written with with a series of excellent characters and a heroine with attitude. Great story and I look forward to reading more of these. Highly recommended.
