Wow! This book didn’t turn out to be what I expected. It was so much better. It’s filled with surprises I never would have imagined. Something happens that affects everyone in Summer Beach. Ivy and Bennett, and many others, step up to lend assistance. Don’t they always?

While I have no desire to move to a small town, Summer Beach is truly a wonderful place, filled with the best people. Those people are always willing to lend a hand in any way possible. I’d be thrilled if I had people like them in my life. Everyone always comes together when the need arises.

Of course, newlyweds Shelly and Mitch have a surprise of their own. And Ivy and Bennett, are they married or aren’t they, must figure out how to move forward with their relationship. It won’t be easy, but they can do it. And poor Ivy is being sued for something she had no choice about doing. And has Amelia left more surprises for Ivy to find?

I’m eager for the next book in the series. This one presented so many possibilities for what might happen next. Never fear, it made sure to tie up all the loose ends that arose within the pages of the book, but left just enough for the author to continue the series.

A fun read with a serious edge, Seabreeze Book Club left me feeling happy.

Note: For new readers to this series, it's likely best if you go back and start from the first book, Seabreeze Inn. A lot has happened over the course of the six books in the series, and each book builds on what came before. Without understanding the background of the characters, the Inn itself, or the town, you might not understand some of what's happening or its significance.

I received an advanced reader copy of this book from the author. I thank her for her generosity, but it had no effect on this review. All opinions in this review reflect my true and honest reactions to reading this book.

This one was just ok. I get frustrated with Elizabeth’s hesitancy about Bennett. Get on with it.

This is book six in the Summer Beach series and Ivy is getting a bit cheesed off with her sister Shelly’s constant absences from work at the Seabreeze Inn they are supposed to run together. Yes, Shelly and Mitch are just back from their honeymoon, but that doesn’t mean Ivy doesn’t need her help with the busy summer season, lots of bookings and events going on. When looking for a replacement platter after a china one is broken, Ivy discovers and old book on the top shelf of the butler’s pantry, which describes the Literary Society that the former owners used to hold and notes on all the stars and other people that attended. This gives Ivy the idea of forming a Summer Beach Book Club and holding it in the unused basement of the building, where all the previous treasures had been discovered behind a false wall. She gathers all the family and they all help to clean and repurpose bits of furniture. They wonder what else they may find hidden away and there should surely be more books, but they haven’t found them yet! Shelly is still under the weather, but has actually found out the cause and it’s all good. Even Ivy is happy for her and forgiving of her absences now.
Ivy and Bennett, the town mayor and now permanent resident of the apartment over the Inn’s garage, are having problems since their commitment ceremony. It should have been a wedding ceremony, but Ivy’s driver’s license was out of date and they didn’t have time to get it updated. Ever since, Ivy has kept their relationship as it was before the ceremony, neither making a move into Bennett’s apartment, nor inviting him into her room in the in. She is suddenly having second thoughts about marriage to him, after the disastrous end of her former marriage and wonders if she is really ready for this huge step or if she needs more time. Bennett has been patient with her throughout their relationship, but he is hiding something from her, that could pull them away from each other or the Inn. A prickly guest doesn’t help matters. Shortly after, Bennett, Ivy and others are all served with lawsuits. It seems someone is suddenly making a claim to the Inn and all of its former contents. Contents that Ivy had the FBI return to the rightful owners and a property her former husband bought and was going to move his secret girlfriend into, after losing all their money! Ivy’s lawsuit is for the contents of the Inn, stating that she had no right to give the items away, even if they belonged to other people! The stress of this and the thought of how much it might costs is worrying. Luckily, the sisters have made a lot of friends in Summer Beach and they rush to help out.
The sisters get the first book club meeting underway, with an eager group of visitors and residents and with the aid of Paige who runs the local bookshop and is something of a book whisperer! On their second meeting, the disagreeable guest turns back up and is seen stuffing some books into her backpack, It turns she was pushed into raising the court cases by her mother, a gambler, for something she knew little about! But the evening is interrupted by the ever increasing storms outside and a tsunami warning is sounded. Bennett has to spring into action as the town mayor and a volunteer firefighter, to help the police chief run the evacuation of Summer Beach. Ivy is beside herself about the safety of her daughters, Sunny in the next bay, and Misty in LA. Sunny should have been with Imari’s son Jamir at the library in the next town over, studying, but has been known to dump him for other more interesting pursuits and friends! The Inn has to be quickly evacuated as everyone heads for higher ground. A heartbreaking wait for Ivy to find out if her children are safe and sad news for some of Summer Beach, as the worst of the devastation hits homes and businesses. Relationships are strengthened under these trying times as all pull together for a common cause, proving how important friends and family are at such times. A difficult time for all in Summer Beach, but a night none of them will ever forget. Lots of soul searching in this one and time to really think about what you want in life, as well as being with friends and family in a time of need and all helping each other to come out on the other side. A thoroughly lovely read and full of characters well known from the previous books. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

The series continues with book 6 with Ivy, mid-40s, doubting her snap decision to get married to Bennet, late 40s. She is thrilled at how loving and caring Shelly, 38, and Mitch, late 20s, are as newlyweds, but she cannot seem to get past her marriage that ended so badly. Her trust issues are on high alert as she continually looks for red flags, and Bennet provides some by withholding an offer he got. They are both half and half out of the relationship and marriage.

I appreciated that Ivy would have her doubts and fears about commitment. Her marriage ended with the death of her husband that she didn't know was cheating on her, that he also used all of their retirement money to by the Seabreeze Inn, and that he was not a good husband after all. She has gotten used to her freedom, is afraid that Bennet will "change" as Jeremy did, and that she will fall into her old habits of putting everyone first. Valid and relatable.

Then there is Shelly finding out that her biggest dream is coming true: she is pregnant. Mitch steps up in every way. They are making their marriage work which contrasts so much with Bennet and Ivy's marriage which is hanging by a thread as the story continues. I am relieved that they get their happily ever after.

While there is the mention that they do have sex, there are no details.

Then there is the book club, introduction of Paige and her bookshop, a discovery in the basement, and the first book club meeting. Wow! The events that make the book club meeting memorable are not mine to reveal, but worth the read and made me fall more in love with the Summer Beach residents who always rallying around in a time of need. There is also Geena who is mysterious and turns out to be yet another of Gustav and Amelia Erickson's secrets.

I am so glad that the author has continued this series.

Note: I received an advance reading copy through BookFunnel. I have read and own several books by this author.

Well, this one certainly seems longer than the other ones. And of course, nothing will be hard for the little community where everybody supports every body whenever hardship happens.

This time it is the threat of tsunami and everyone has to evacuate to the top of the mountain. And of course, the town leader has an evacuation plan well in place and everyone of the town knows where to go.

I find Shelly ridiculous, she blaming Mitch for getting her pregnant and having morning sickness, but wasn't she the one crying about needing to have a baby??? Doesn't she know that is part of the process?

Then there is Ivy getting upset with Shelly because she seems to be shirking her duties after she comes back from her honeymoon. The part where she found Shelley hugging the porcelain is excruciating. I am chanting "you dummy, your sister is pregnant!!!" This is not the first circus Ivy is on, she herself has been pregnant 2 times herself how did she not recognize the symptoms??

Then during evacuation Shelly decide she wants to stay because she is too weak to move. Someone should have give her a slap on the face! Doesn't she remember she is pregnant? She needs to save her baby even if she is not able to move? Then there is the men they can certainly help moving her outside!!!

well, ridiculous situation created by the author for sure, but all problems were solved by the end of the book, everybody is happy with result. This formula is in all the books. The author just slap some drama together and call it done. The beach house is so success so why when they need to fix something, the beach house is always looking at bankruptcy??

Another beautifully written story by Jan Moran. All her books revolve around family and have a diverse cast of the most engaging characters. The main characters in Jan’s books are strong, independent women that have the reader feeling they can conquer the world.

I have enjoyed “watching” Ivy, Shelley, and Sunny blossom into their true selves throughout this series. And a little romance never hurts. My heart is warmed as Ivy and Bennett, and Shelley and Mitch grow into strong couples as they navigate some rough waters at times.

I am always eager to “meet” the newest residents of Summer Beach. This time it is Paige and Geena. Paige is the owner of the local bookstore and is central to the establishment of the Seabreeze Book Club. It is during one of their meetings that danger strikes, threatening the entire community, and they must work together to survive. And Geena has secrets that could collapse Ivy’s world.

Like a little intrigue? How about a ghost? Amelia, the former owner of the house, still watches over her house and makes an appearance from time to time.

I highly recommend this sweet series, along with all her other books. I always know I will not be disappointed and, while experiencing a wide range of emotions as I read, love will always triumph in the end.

I received an Advance Review Copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

I started this book at a bit of a disadvantage because I haven’t read the previous 5 books. So I was lost for much of what was happening. I didn’t really enjoy this book very much so I doubt I will be reading the first five just to find out all of the other side stories.

This book is about Ivy, a relatively new owner of a building that she has worked rather hard (along with family and friends) to create the Seabreeze Inn, an historic bed and breakfast. There’s talk of the original owner haunting the place and while several strange things do happen, no one ever sees her. Ivy learns that the original owner loved books and had a book club meet in this building. Ivy works to start a new book club to meet at the Inn as well.

While this book was cute, I felt like I was just reading lists of activities that people were completing - I never felt truly connected.

(3.5 rounded to 4.0)

This is #6 in the popular Summer Beach series which follows the lives of two sisters—Ivy and Shelly Bay who are operating a a historic inn along the California coast. In this 6th installment, both sisters have found partners and one sister is expecting a child. One area that still needs renovation is the basement floor. They decide to proceed with renovation to turn the space into an event rental space. Their first event is the inaugural meetings of the Seabreeze Inn Book Club. Meanwhile Ivy is being sued by a long lost family member of the original owner. And there is an earthquake that threatens the whole town.

I have a problem with this Series. Some years ago, I attempted to read the first title in the series and DNFed it. This one came up in my Library’s collection recently and I decided to see if the author and the series had improved in the interim. However, I found my reaction to be much the same as the first one. I know that I am in the minority here and normally this series would be just perfect for me (small town, a sisters’ story, a historic (haunted?) inn, likable characters, etc.) but it just didn’t. I am rating the book 3.5 based on all of the based on all of the positive elements but I can’t say I enjoyed it that much. But the book is highly rated by other readers of romance, contemporary women’s fiction, books-about-books, with family dynamics.

This is book six in The Summer Beach series and it continues Ivy and Shelly's story and omg it is a must read. Now Shelly and Mitch are married and she is moving in to his beach cottage Ivy will miss the mornings where they spent there time together but as long as Shelly is happy that is all Ivy wanted for her sister. Ivy and the crew decide to do a book club in the lower level of the inn but while cleaning and painting it will they find any more treasures and if they do what will it be This time. More problems arrive for Ivy and Shelly gets a wonderful surprise but what happens when the weather takes a turn for the worse and what damage will it cause and will they all come out of it safe and well. I absolutely love this book and series so much and I couldn't put it down and had to keep turning the pages to see what would happen next. There are twists and turns along the way but with a community like Summer Beach where everyone pulls together and helps those that are in need you couldn't ask for anything more. Jan Moran is an amazing author and writer and I definitely recommend you read this book, series and other books by her and you will not be disappointed as her books are so addictive.

When sisters Ivy and Shelly find a notebook from Amelia, the late owner of their inn, they decide to start a book club. As the ladies gather, something unexpected happens that throws everyone’s lives in a turmoil. Add in a suspicious guest at the inn, and things start to unravel. Can Ivy save the inn and her dreams all at the same time? Will she finally decide what she should do with her relationship with the handsome Mayor?

I loved catching up with old friends at the Seabreeze Inn. It was fun to see how the characters have grown and changed from the beginning of the series, and it’s always a joy to see what the eclectic mix of residents in Summer Beach are up to. It is a love story, a family reunion and a little mystery all wrapped up into one fantastic novel by Jan Moran. I have utterly enjoyed the series and this book was the perfect addition. I can not wait to see what the future holds for Ivy, Shelly and their families. My thanks to Jan Moran for an advanced readers copy that I voluntarily read and reviewed.

A Series that you want it to go on& on.

This was a wonderful book that is in a series about the lives of Ivy & Shelly that starts with the first book being about them coming to sell a house Ivy's husband had spent their retirement buying but this was without Ivy's knowledge. When this all started Shelly hitched a ride with her sister Shelly to have a change of scenery after breaking it off with her long time boyfriend. Each book adds a new character that explodes off the pages in one of the best series I have ever read. In this book, we find out about a secret that Shelly has, Ivy's boyfriend/new husband's has one too. A new a abnoxious person that is staying at the inn also, she has a disturbing secret.

If you are interested in Old inns or B&B's by the ocean. This is the book for you.
I do not want to give to much away or I would have told you much more but for a terrific stay up late book series. I don't know how you could pass up the Summer Beach Inn books, it just keeps getting better& better.

More treasures are found along with a wonderful surprise and one unexpected storm

Seabreeze Book Club is the sixth book in the Summer Beach series and is another wonderful addition to it. The book is well written with an easy flow and a sweet and interesting story-line that continues the overarching story-line and characters, and what a crazy family and fun friends they are. Now that Shelly and Mitch are married and she has moved into his house on the beach Ivy has decided to start a book club at the Inn. There are more treasures unearthed in this book along with a wonderful surprise. But there is also a storm that arrives and may do more damage and put people in danger, so watch out for that drama. In the end though this story is really about family, friends, love, romance and community.

I received a copy of this book and am leaving my honest review. My opinions are all my own.

I had begun reading this s eries and thoroughly enjoy Jan Moran. This one was next in the series and it felt like visiting old friends and reminising about events you lived throuh in this small town. the disater that brings every body is a tsunami that threatened the small town forcing evcuation to a high ground mansion that everyone fled to for safety. Once again the near disaster caused the bookstore in town to need total renovation. Of course all the townspeople rallied. In this book Shelly the grand dame of decorating is pregnant . Its the baby she always dreamed of but the morning sickness is stopping her from doing normal jobs. I decided in this boo/k my total opinion of Ivy has changed. She my be afraid of total commitment to Bennett but the whining, indignation and sly remarks she uses in their conversations made me hope Bennett woud divorce her. This series is a great escape read. If only one town wa like Seabreeze we would all be better off.

Another wonderful book in this series. I enjoy catching up with the lives and loves of Ivy and Shelley. It's also wonderful to find out the latest discovery in the house. Looking forward to the next book in the series but I will have to wait almost 6 months for that one!

Amazon synopsis:
When sisters Ivy and Shelly Bay form a book club to help support a local bookshop on the beach, friends and guests of the old beach house inn are eager to join, although one new member harbors a potentially devastating secret. Meanwhile, a discovery in the historic beach house inn brings the past to light, and recently widowed Ivy grapples with the idea of a new marriage. But when a threat arises during a book club meeting that could impact the entire beach community, members pull together, proving that the bonds of family and friendship are more important than ever in Summer Beach.

More Adventures at the Seabreeze Inn

Thoroughly enjoying the continuation of sisters Ivy and Shelley and their lives running the inn at the old house inherited by Ivy when her husband passed away. The love of family is so apparent in this book but we also see how close the sisters are to the small community in which they live. This book gets a high rating from me because the author continues to do a good job connecting the story to previous books in the series so this could be read as a stand-alone book. The connections explained do not take a long time and are not overly wordy.

Looking forward to my next book with the series and with the Coral Cottage series which takes place in the same town with some of the same people.

Another wonderful stay at the Seabreeze Inn. Ms. Moran writes about family and love and friendship so beautifully. This time Shelly is married and has moved into Mitch's beach cottage. Ivy is grappling with the change and decides to start a book club. We get to spend more time with some of the other Summer Beach residents as they join the book club. We have quite a few discoveries along with a natural disaster in this book. Will the Inn survive? Will Ivy and Bennett? A great addition to the series!

Continuing with the story of the Seabreeze Inn and her inhabitants, this book brings us a new theme in the saga, the introduction of a book club continuing with the tradition that Amelia had in her time.

The writing is very good, as usual author Jan Moran makes you feel like you are involved in the lives of her characters, their happiness and tribulations. This is a fast read, but not a light one, status and survival of relationship get questioned, and we also have to deal with a natural disaster, a big earthquake that endangers the survival of the Inn.

I can't wait to read the next and final book of the series.

"Giving someone hope is a beautiful thing. I’m glad we could do it"

Just when you think the series can't get any better, along comes Seabreeze Book Club and the Bay family with just more intrigue wrapped around the Inn, and the pieces of Mitch and Shelly and Ivy and Bennett. Misunderstandings from a bookstore to another natural disaster to another cache of history found in the Seabreeze Inn's walls will change everything . Are you ready for an unputdownable book? Then pick this one up! Highly recommended 5/5

Seabreeze Book Club by Jan Moran was another Summer Beach Novel; book 6. Ivy and Shelly Bay are supporters of the local bookstore.. They discover very old books in the Inn’s basement and decide to convert the area to another entertainment space for the Inn. Amelia, previous owner and resident spirit, leads them to this latest discover. Meanwhile a tsunami hits the community and destroys Paige’s Bookstore so the ladies invite Paige to move the store to their Inn. There is romance, a new pregnancy and relationships to add to the always dramatic Summer beach community This was a fun read on the cruise I was just on. Enjoy.

What could be better than the beach and books and a little mystery and drama thrown in? This book continues the saga of Ivy and Shelley as they endeavor to improve Seabreeze Inn. When an old book is found at the Inn, Ivy decides to start a bookclub for town members and guests. This is a fast, fun read, but it's not all lighthearted -- relationships are questioned, people are missing, guests are sneaking around and Seabreeze Inn is still relinquishing secrets.

Once again Jan Moran has written a book of the strong friendships of her characters (along with a ghost of the former owner of the inn) in this wonderful book. There is an opening of a bookstore in an unusual place, a hidden surprise, a sudden storm that shows the remarkable resilience of the town and a misunderstanding that almost ends a marriage before it ever began. A good book to add to the Seabreeze series.
