Manny Martinez has a history shrouded in secrets, a wake of destruction he hoped he could leave behind. But when his closest childhood companion locates him in America, that can only mean one thing--Manny didn't run far enough.
To survive, he must embrace his past and outwit his old ally, now a professional hitman bent on revenge. He's promised that Manny will only die after he watches his friends perish first. It's a fight that will spill into the streets and demand an answer--how much does it cost to be a Martinez?
Read Book Four of the Sinatra Thriller Series Today!
This is the best Sinatra Thriller! The tensest, riveting, suspenseful and with Manny up front all the way. Great to discover the back story of how we have come to love Manny. I always wondered about his previous life given the hints in the previous 3 novels. Now all is revealed and consolidates all things Manny for future novels.
I am more endeared to both Manny and Beck now and cannot wait for the next instalment as this novel seems to be a turning point for these two characters and the series in general.
I loved the inclusion of Mackenzie August in this one who played a larger role than in the previous. This also developed and consolidated the relationship between these two (Manny and MacKenzie).
Can Alan Lee get any better with these novels? He knows how to take it to the next level.
Highly recommend this novel but all of Lee's as well.
THIS STARTED OUT WITH A BANG AND DIDN'T LET UP I WAS ONLY ON PAGE 12. I HAD A FEELING THIS WAS NOT GOING TO END WELL. THIS ONE HAD ME ON THE EDGE OF MY SEAT BUT THATS WHERE MY FAVORITE CRIME WRITER LIKE TO KEEP, YA'. ALL HIS BOOKS I'VE READ DOES THAT TO ME, WHAT A RUSH. I'M SO SCARED SOMETHING WILL HAPPEN TO SOMEONE I REALLY LIKE. OMG I CAN'T TAKE IT, THE TENSION. YIKES! IT FRIGHTENED ME BECAUSE IT MIMICS TODAY'S SOCIETIES BEHAVIOR. WHEN I START ONE OF MR. LEE'S BOOKS EVERYTHING, I MIGHT HAVE PLANNED ON DOING GOES OUT THE WINDOW, TILL I FINISH THAT BOOK. ;D
Started reading Mr. Alan Lee last year and have devoured all his books since. On the edge of your seat thrillers and mystery at the highest level. Just when you can't catch your breath he gives an interlude that allows more insight to the characters. The main characters are super humans that have real human complexities and morals that are admirable and enviable. I also like the lack of gratuitous sex and foul language. I recommend reading the books in order, but not necessary. Martinez (Sinatra 4) was a quick read because it is so riveting and I couldn't wait to get to the climax. Will be waiting patiently (not) for the next Alan Lee book. I know I won't be disappointed.
The wait was not done in vain. Whenever I get a story of one of my favorite characters it is always something spectacular! The writer gives us exactly what we want and that's true Martinez action and a whole lot of adrenaline. This was not only a story done in and keeping with the true fashion of who this character is,but in the same.tradition of you are going to get some truth and some fantasy. This was just stellar writing coming right out the gate. There are parts that make bust a gut laughing, screaming of the unfairness, cheering at the wins and tearing at some of the losses. If you want to continue getting your fix.of Manny ,then jump aboard and take this ride.
Another great book. Well written and I may even have learned some Spanish. The relationship of the Mack-Manny world is a truly great friendship. All the people in their universe rise to the occasion when needed. Even Marcus.
It was interesting to find out more about what makes Manny the man he is. I’m enjoying the growth of the relationship of Manny and Beck.... maybe one day....
Love Mack’s sense of humor and his vocabulary. Learn something new with each book.
Looking forward to the next book and hope I’m around for for the years remaining in the promised twenty of my favorite author.
I have read all of Alan Lee’s book and enjoyed everyone. I love the humor, the patriotism, the battle of good vs evil. This story was powerful. The car chase scene was awesome. While we root for our heroes we get to learn about Manny’s past and what makes him the way he is. He is a complicated person and simple at the same time. Alan Lee’s writing is descriptive and puts you right in the middle of the action. I also really appreciate the fact that there are no F bombs or ugly language other than a few times by a criminal or evil person.
I have to practice a little suspended disbelief as Manny, torn and bleeding, carries on the wildest escapades, fights the incredibly unfair fights, and maintains his charm throughout. But I love every minute! This one was actually a bit bloody and painful , but I plowed right through, thoroughly enjoying these wonderful characters and now eagerly awaiting the next one. Thanks Alan!
Wow I sure didn’t want this book or this series to end!! I LOVED all four books so far and can’t wait for more!! Each one was an exciting thrill ride!! It’s not absolutely required or even necessary that you read them in order, but it certainly gives you insight to the characters! Great page turner, full of thrilling adventures!
A satisfying and welcome look at the man Martinez, who can fight and love and be warm and tough at different times. He is a study in the emotions of humanity. And of course Mack is ever present as they go to Puerto Rico to save Beck and destroy a madman. A true thriller.
Alan Lee does it again. More excitement, humor and the best sarcasm you could want.
I chose five stars because that's all there were. I read Alan Lee because he's entertaining and uses very little bad language. Noelle Beck is also one of my favorite Mormons.
Alan Lee does not disappoint. My only complaint is that he doesn’t write his books as fast as I can read them. I love the humor. Even when the plot is predictable the time I spend with the characters is worth it!
This is the best Sinatra (Manny) book so far. It was a roller coaster ride from start to finish. We learned more of Manny’s history and what a history it was. I recommend this book and all of his others, as Alan Lee gets better and better as an author.
Yes, this Book 4 is different in tone from the first three. The primary characters are the same, but the villain is both hateful and sad. This is a story of guilt and redemption. Well done!
This is book 4 in the Marshal Manny Martinez - code name Sinatra - series, but he features strongly in the MacKenzie August series. In one of his books, MacKenzie was kidnapped and forced to fight for his life and Manny organised a rescue mission. In this book it's Manny's turn, except that he's not exactly kidnapped but Noelle Beck, his partner is. A figure from Manny's mysterious past invaded the Roanoke Marshall 's office in dramatic and cruel fashion, forcing a frantic, lethal chase that eventually forces Manny to deal with the life he left behind once and for all. I love Alan Lee's writing and storytelling. The characters are unique and always interesting. The August household, which consists of MacKenzie and his father Timothy, Manny and MacKenzie's baby son, plus eventually two women and a dog, is written to sound like a wonderful haven in which "Beck" is now welcome. This is a spin off of the main series but no less exciting and just as great reads
Now This Is A THRILLER! Amazing. Simply Amazing! A "10 Starred Read!!
Alan Lee has, with "Martinez", set a high bar for himself for future releases. This is an exceptional book, not only taking place in the present, but also providing a great "backstory" into what makes "Manny Martinez" the "man he is today".
I cannot say too much good about this book as it is definitely in the top tier of books I've read this year, and it is by far the best one in the "Sinatra Series" to date.
I HIGHLY Recommend this Book", but please read it in the order in which it was published, you will enjoy it so much more.
As an after thought I'll add that "other" authors could take lessons from this book, on how to write a "backstory" into a "current release".
I really look forward to all Mackenzie August books, along with Manny Martinez’s books, i have read all Mackenzie’s books and now all Martinez’s books also. You really have the knack of keeping the reader intrigued and unable to put down the book, and to just keep reading. The action, suspense and characters are written so you can almost picture them, each and every one of them. Thank you for yet another awesome novel, and please continue writing more just as capturing as the previous. Thank you Deborah D
As with all the other books in this series, this one does not disappoint. Manny is once again a hero along with Beck and MacKenzie August. As with previous books by Alan Lee, his writing style grips you from the first and you don't want to put the book down. Manny is reunited with a man from his childhood days who wants revenge because Manny left and he feels betrayed. He has come to take Manny back to Puerto Rico to prove he is the better man, NOT! I recommend this book series and any books by Mr. Lee, especially the MacKenzie August series.
Manny Martinez is spell binding. Just over the top enough to be interesting and bigger than life but just real enough that you come away wishing he were YOUR best friend. The snappy dialog between him and August Machinery will have you quietly chuckling to yourself as you read. The heat between Manny and Beck gets turned up a couple of notches.so if you're a woman reader I advise you to have something nearby the you can fan yourself with. How does she keep resisting???
Ifts as if freedom and adventure had a son named Manny
Great book! Definitely my favorite Sinatra novel and in the top 5 for the "Mackverse ". The plot was tight, the characters have evolved and the action was top notch. The stakes have been raised for Manny and mack, and you can feel it in this one. A perfect combination of action, intrigue and humor. Hopefully the next novel is in the chamber, and ready to be fired!
Alan you go from great to fantastic. People if you haven't read every single book by Alan Lee, it's time you start. The adventures are exciting and the characters real, strong, funny and of course handsome. These books absolutely sell themselves, and each time I finish one I wish it wasn't the end. Can't wait for more adventures with Manny and Beck, of course joined by the Mackenzie clan.
This is more violent and brutal then the earlier three books in this series. In this one, Manny confronts demons from his past. We learn much more of his back story. A bloody killer arrives to take personal vengeance by murdering those around him, and Manny is pushed to incredible limits. Action not only in suburban DC area but also in Puerto Rico in this book, giving the author a chance to exoticize that setting as the book builds to a final crescendo.
Fast, excellent read with all the usual banter between Mackenzie, Manny and Beck. I have read all of the series and just got the newest one Dead Stop. Keep on producing this excellent series.
I recommend this series to anyone and everyone! I have to read a few other books between these just so I won't run out of the series. Love the work. Before Alan Lee my favorite author was John Sandford, same kind of character banter but a little more serious and dark. Thanks
This book gives a deeper look into the why of Manny’s thirst for what America has to offer. He is proud to now be an American with a deep slice of Puerto Rican heritage. It is a perfect example of how given a chance and the desire you can change your life. His love of America is contagious, and sometimes brings us grips with what many of us take for granted everyday! Shame on us!
Another exciting chapter in Manny’s life! This book has a wonderful blend of all of our favorite characters from Alan Lee’s Martinez-MacKenzie universe and goes a very long ways to fill in Manny’s past and what shaped him. The action is amazing and the villain is a nasty part of Manny’s past! A great read! Enjoy!
Creating interesting characters placed in challenging situations - that's only one of the reasons I keep reading Alan's books. I love the camaraderie, the humor, the humanity of his characters. And I love how they reinforce the joy and value of friendship and family. And the stories are good, too! Thanks, Alan! Keep up the good work!
I found the beginning a bit slow, but stick with it it's worth it. If you enjoy this one and haven't read any others in the series I would recommend both the 4 Manny books and all of the August MacKenzie books. A couple of modern day supermen who are still modest and loving.
This story was a great addition that made Manny's character even more understandable. I can highly recommend all Alan Lee's books. If you haven't read any others don't hesitate to start right now. You're in for a treat & will surely fall in love with everyone .
I've read all the books as soon as they come out. Always exciting and fun, the back and forth between the characters keeps me laughing, the mutual love and devotion brings tears to my eyes. The kick ass action keeps me from putting it down until the end. No pressure Mr. Lee, 😏 but hurry with the next one.
Alan is a talented writer. The MacKenzie series is my favorite but I have enjoyed getting to know Manny through these stories, this one is the best. It has action and humor. I’m ready to see Manny finally realize that he is passionately in love with Beck. Next time, he needs to figure it out!
Alan Jackson has continued to deliver gut punching action that will keep readers at the edge of their seats, but what makes his series something special is Leesburg ability to combine the best of the genre with life lessons that are never preachy. I look forward to the next volumes in what one can hope is a long-running series.
