The second volume of Young Justice adventures collects the end of the early days, as well as an arc set just before Invasion, and the short Outsiders tie-in.

The opening issues are much the same as the previous volume; the Aquaman story is fine, even if it feels a bit like treading over old ground at this point. The split-focus story in the next two issues is clever, but the second half is bland as hell because Kobra will never be an interesting villain no matter how hard anyone tries. The mega-gorilla team-up is something I'm surprised we've never seen before given all the super-gorillas in the DC Universe, but it loses a point for not using the Gorillas In Our Midst title that's literally right there.

The Invasion arc is much stronger since it's longer than two issues for a change, but that also works to its detriment because it somehow manages to have like four plotlines going plus flashbacks and yet still spin its wheels for the middle of the arc. I'm not sure how a story can have too much going on and not enough at the same time, but this somehow manages it. And the Outsiders tie-in is fine, but again feels like something we've seen before.

On art for all of these issues bar one is Christopher Jones, who pencilled most of the last volume as well. Jones' art works perfectly for the series, and you can see from his design pages in the back of the collection that he's a natural fit. It's also worth mentioning the final page, an afterward from Greg Weisman regarding LGBTQ+ representation, which makes the abundance of them in Outsiders and Phantoms make far more sense now - they're making up for lost time.

This second volume of Young Justice isn't quite as successful as the first, but it's still good fun. It's not groundbreaking or necessary material, but fans of the show will get a kick out of it.

Such an interesting book to read! I really enjoyed getting to see what happened in between episodes of season 1 and 2. (I'm so happy I got to see more Wally and Artemis moments!!) The notes written at the end of the book by the author were incredibly interesting and I'm glad to see their stance on LGBTQ romances!

I really liked both the art and the characterization of the ‘Young Justice’ TV series and the comic books I couldn’t resist buying the last trade paperback in the series.

Honestly, they did a better job writing the series than they ever did the ‘Young Justice’ comic book series.

Fantastic story in “Gorilla Warfare” and a great transition to the ‘three years later’ Young Justice. And to top it off someone FINALLY know how to draw a cool Nightwing costume! How hard is it!?!

Zatana: “How is it again you’re still friends with all your exes?

Nightwing: “That’s my super-power.”

Kind of very cool. It’s not following the TV show exactly, but more like showing the moments in between. The stuff that comics do really well (the personal bits) and that TV and movies tend to gloss over to get to the action bits.

Dick: “You ordered in pizza?”

Alfred: “Don’t be absurd, master Richard. I ordered the boxes. I made the pies.”

Whatever else, the art is wonderful.

And the going back between “5 years ago” and “Now” is working quite well actually.

Killing me! The last scenes with Dick and Barbara playing ‘spin the bottle’. Sure it’s cheesy, but it did get me. Would that it were that easy!

I went to a comic book store recently to see if this was the last ‘Young Justice’ trade paperback based on the cartoon and apparently it is! But there seems to be a plan to extend it even more.

I hope so, I really like the takes on the characters and everything I’ve read of the other ‘Young Justice’ seems to be a constant attempt to make it as cool as the “New Teen Titans” and failing miserably.

I don’t think everything was successful so I’ll give it 4 stars (and keep it), but if another Young Justice book comes out with this particular team I will buy it.

Amo Young Justice.

I love this one. It’s so so good. Way better than the first one. I think I love it so much because the last one felt like sort of tacked on missions that were cut from season one of YJ but this one explores the gap between seasons and I loveddddd that. Favorite page is page 264 because it’s just so cute I can’t even.
The art in this series of comics and on the show is just so great. I love it.
Awesome graphic novel definitely recommend it.

Such a great tie-in comic! While I can wish for more from them in terms of story, I think that the nature of them being tie-in comics that are meant to just fill gaps left in the TV show is really such a fun premise. Even with them just being supplemental and optional pieces of the Young Justice media, there was still amazing storytelling and surprises.

Building on both the previous book and continuity with the events of Season 1, 2, and 3 of the TV show, these comics help further develop the story and characters. Again, this is a fantastic series for fans of the show and is a testament to the love the writers of the show have for this world they have built. Excellent! 5/5

I loved the show, so I’m definitely biased, but it was really fun to revisit these characters and witness more of what made this show so great!! I especially love the inter group character dynamics of the original team so that’s always a blast to read.

A few really good stories. Kind of all over the place. Not as tight as volume one, but carries the legacy well. Earth-16 (the Young Justice universe) still has the absolute best iteration of Dick Grayson, which this trade heavily features. 1st time read. 3/5.

A must for all the DC comics fans, specially for the Young Justice fans, this book explores the stories between season 1 and 2 of the show. You can feel how it is connected and how is faitful to the characters arc. Total recommendation.

I love all of the heroes - but I kind of wish we saw more of the journey to where they are at. Also - why does Nightwing have chemistry with literally everyone? I don't know who I want him to end up with.

This volume combines issues that I’ve read before plus the newly in print Torch Songs that prefaces Outsiders, and I felt like a reread because I miss my babies. Still gives me the warm fuzzies.

Just like the first book, its really good in expanding the world of Young Justice. I really appreciate the amount of detail the creators put in the timeline and mythos of this world. Each story was fun and interesting and its really really needed if you are a fan of the show. Seeing Blue Beetle’s first mission, the time skip in the comics, and just more of the team is really awesome. Also, I really like the blurb at the end about LGBTQ representation. These creators are the best.
