The first rule of vampires is: there’s no such thing as vampires.
But seeing is believing…
Audrina’s wicked stepmother mortgaged their family home beyond reach. Gorgeous billionaire Gabriel Dalca comes to evict them—but when he meets Audrina, he offers a deal. If she pretends to be his girlfriend for a society wedding, he’ll forgive the debt. He’ll protect her little sister.
If it sounds too good to be true…
Gabriel brings Audrina to a dark, dangerous underworld she never knew existed. She’s the target of hungry vampires who obsess over her virgin blood. The other problem? She can’t stop thinking about the strapping Vampire King himself. Still, Audrina’s determined to hold up her end of the bargain and return to her sister.
But before she knows what’s happening, Gabriel’s rewriting the contract.
That’s what happens when you make a deal with the devil…

Previously published under the pen name "Tori Leigh."
This book was fun... buttttt it was really weird and kinda gross. Like I get that vampires are hundreds of years old, but Gabriel is like 40!!! And she’s 18? Or 17? He’s just physically so much older then her, and uses sex to get her to do things he wants her to do. And he is so creepy, like the way he phrases things are just so so so creepy. It was very entertaining, but kinda gross.
My main issue with this book was that I couldn't get over the fact that it really was rather creepy and unnerving to read about a thousand+ year old billionaire vampire obsessing over an 18-year-old high school senior virgin that he just met.
At first sight, we were already reading about the vampire Gabriel's throbbing hard-ons and constant fantasies about the young FMC Audrina's breasts and ass and taking her virginity. On the other end, holy Batman, can we give the 18yo some common sense and not blindly crush on some mysterious hot stranger? It's one thing to go into a business arrangement for the safety of your younger sister but another to want to get said who-knows-how-much-older businessman as a boyfriend and also have your 16yo sister encourage you to do so.
The continuous emphasis that Gabriel loved the idea of taking a virgin and Audrina constantly acknowledging her lack of sexual experience yet wanting to see Gabriel naked was just unsettling and odd. I am not sure if this book was supposed to be catering to some sort of fetish for teenage virgin porn instead of being categorized as a generic NA paranormal romance with this type of writing. Ancient vampires constantly lusting after someone that was barely an adult and only met the day before, describing her as a rose ready to be plucked, and dreaming about plundering her virginity and how he could give her first orgasms better than any human was just so much no. And then right before the book ended, their important vampire party basically devolved into as a consequence of their loud intimate shenanigans in a dark public corner like some horny teenagers. It definitely started to lean towards some sort of erotic fantasy rather than standard paranormal romance with an actual plot and character development.
The setting was bizarre to me, with giant estates and vampires obsessed about claiming "double virgins" that have never been bitten or had sex before, and it made you think of some type of older feudal fantasy society. Instead we were faced with Escalades and SUVs and women who had plastic surgery and smartphones, which I guess was supposed to be some sort of modern Southern debutante setting? Regardless, it was a very jarring introduction to the world-building.
The synopsis had promised a Cinderella retelling, but this book ended right after we were finally introduced to all the characters and the antagonist finally pulled their evil move. This was not a full-length novel with a satisfactory arc but rather just a book chopped into parts for whatever reason.
Ultimately, the story was definitely not my cup of tea, and I'm passing on the rest of the series.
P.S. Nervous characters can just be soft-spoken. They don't need to stumble and stutter every other word that comes out of their mouth.
When I began reading this, after the first few chapters I thought it was your usual contemp. romance as it took a while to exhibit vampire characteristics.
There were a few issues I had with this book. 1. Does the female lead have a speech impediment? She stuttered on 90% of her lines. I can understand the author wanted to convey that she's nervous, but Jesus that was annoying. 2. The repetition. A lot of words and phrases were reused, like plunder; unless you're a pirate, that word probs shouldn't be used at all, nevermind every other paragraph. 3. The length of the book. I understand there are three of these, why could they not be combined into one? This book is only 117 pages (really a novela, not a full length novel), and the plot only spans about 12 hours. I felt like nothing of real substance happened. 4. The obsession with virginity; it was just plain weird.
Sweet baby Jesus! This definitely grabbed my attention.
I've never read a Tori Leigh book before, but the cover drew me in. I figured "with a cover like that? I have to know what's inside." I'm pretty sure that Tori Leigh is a new favorite author for me.
I'm gonna have to read everything ever written, now.
Left me on a cliffhanger but the beauty of finding this author late in the game is that..... I can go straight to book two...
I feel that Based on the Sweet and somewhat innocent way she writes Audrina's character I'm definitely going to love alot of Tori Leighs books.
"Traded" ends on a cliffhanger and runs into the next book. I've yet to read the second but I have high hopes. If you like sweet, sassy, mysterious characters in your books.....you will definitely love this one.
Audrina is sweet and innocent with a touch of spice thrown in. Despite her sweetness she holds a bit of sass and is fierce as can be when it comes to her sister Winnie (her little sister) and her safety. This book gives me Cinderella-esque vibes, and I'd really like to see Audrina and Winnie the good ol' Heave ho...
And Gabriel? King Gabriel it someone who has been burned before in the past. I really would love to see this fierce man get what he wants aka Audrina.
All in all I love this book and I think you will too:).
AAA, nope It was something bad, like the free boks you get from Amazon, the ones that are porn. This one had something in the end, but the book it's exactly like a script from a porn movie, there is nothing there
I don't mind big age gaps. But what irritated TF out of me is how Leigh James kept stressing that despite STILL being in high school, at 18, Audrina was in fact of age and could totally consent to an indecent proposal. Which legally she can. I get it.
Look, I don't care that she was 18. I felt like the constant stress of it was annoying. It was like a pop up ad/disclaimer before a Bang The Babysitter porno stressing that everyone is of age.
I feel like the author wanted us NOT to pass judgement. Which I am totally not. While I was TEAM JACOB, I was not mad at Edward for wanting Bella. And in this case I was there for the story. I forgot Audrina's age. Her age was not a factor for me so the constant mention was a buzz kill.
Took me quite some time to get through this despite it not being very long. The constant focus on Audrinas age along with the focus on Gabriel's erection and how he forever thinks about her being a virgin was a major turn off. The book focused more on those things than the plot.
Well written and thought storyline, what I would consider 3 short stories made into a 3 book series. Very easy, quick reads.
Despite the story lacking some depth to the story to give it more richness and fulfilling read, these are short stories after all, there is just enough back story to connect with the characters or hate them for that matter. Efficient descriptive writing to understand the surrounding environments.
One thing that would have been nice to explain somewhere in Book 1 is that Audrina has a little stutter which isn’t explained until well into Book 3.
Some miss wording, mixed up words, wrong words, wrong conjugation, etc. Also written dialogue are incorrect making it confusing as to who said what - was it Audrina or Gabriel? I would have to read back to try figure it out. Two characters dialogue should not be written in the same paragraph especially if it’s not written clearly who is saying what. Start a new paragraph for each character. For the most part it was smooth reading.
Overall great story, loved the storyline, would have loved the stories to be longer with more depth written in.
Wow! I loved this compilation and revamping of fairy tales. The characters are wonderfully developed for such a short read. The plot twists are engaging and the sexy times are well written. This would be a 5 star read if not for the editing, stumbling through editing mishaps detracts from the enjoyment. Luckily the series is complete so I can jump from the cliffhanger straight into the next book! Be prepared, the cliffhanger is a doozy 💖💖
Every other word was virgin, good lord! Just awful! Thank God I did not buy this book, because it started okay and then went down down down to every other word being VIRGIN!!!
Thank you Tori for a fun ride on the Audrina and Gabriel train. They make a cute couple and your method of getting them together works. The 2nd and 3rd book fit nicely and will review them separately. Nice cliffhanger on this 1st one.
My one annoyance with this book was how the FMC constantly stuttered/stumbled over her words (not due to mental inability or the likes). For example: O-okay S-sure
I had trouble with the age of the fmc- (I’m getting old now) the writing was good, a nice flow. I’m not going to rate this book as I have said the age really tainted an otherwise good story.
Spice Time ist hier viel dabei.
