This short book is one of the best horror stories I have read in a long time. Bodies are being found in gruesome states of destruction and under odd circumstances. A pair of detectives realize that they might be dealing with a case that is impossible to comprehend with normal logic and rhetoric. We are given glimpses into some of the crimes being committed, and they are by no means normal. Cosmic horror plays a large and unsettling part in the attempt to break down and understand what might actually be happening in our world. The answers are uniquely horrific. Bleak, atmospheric and cunningly clever, this story by Nikolas P. Robinson belongs on the shelf of any true lover of the dark side. Highly recommended.

I loved it!
The story is good, with interesting characters.
It’s about two detectives, who investigate, mysterious, gruesome and unbelievable murders.
I think, and I hope the story is the first book in a series.
I can’t wait to read the next story!!

The title is appropriate to both the story itself and its impact on the reader. You Will Be Consumed by Nikolas P Robinson will consume you. It will consume your time once you pick it up because you can’t put this page-turner down again, and it will consume your mind while you read it. And after. For days.

Robinson has written a daring story where the absence of a truly likeable character seems entirely intentional. The author slaps you mercilessly with the dark duality of human nature, and the “good guys” … well … aren’t. This disturbing funhouse-style mirroring of society and social norms combined with the in-your-face Extreme Horror nature of the story puts You Will Be Consumed firmly in the horror subgenre of Splatterpunk.

Oh yes. Splatterpunk. Robinson is brutally graphic and unapologetically crosses boundaries with this tale. It’s impactful, unsettling, and a bit stomach-churning at times. But this is not a slasher story waxing philosophical about society. No. It has an underlying cosmic horror premise. The combination is twisted, suspenseful, and quite satisfying.

By the way, the cover is a tease. It is apropos, but not definitive of the entire story.

Fans of Extreme Horror and Splatterpunk will enjoy Nikolas Robinson’s brazen style and audacious story. With its dark humor and darker content, this is a fantastic read.

Really enjoyed this read. The beginning of the end. It starts with one bite, which leads to the end of everything. Great idea and well written.

Loved it! But seriously—way too short. I need a sequel.

This is an extremely fast-paced story—blink and you'll miss entire scenes. More than once, I had to rewind 30–60 seconds because some sections almost felt like flash fiction, all good stuff when looking back at the story in retrospect, though. Cosmic, erotic, splattery good fun from start to finish.
Considering how few ratings and reviews this has, it's surprisingly well-written too.
Whoever recommended this to me: thank you! 4.5*

Nikolas P. Robinson fucking rocks. This short book was a damn good read. This was like a crime thriller\ cosmic horror story that draws you in from the beginning until the very end. I really hope that there is a sequel. I highly recommend this one and don't can't wait for the next one.

You Will Be Consumed reads like a modern day Lovecraft story, but with a bit more umpf. Right away, the reader is thrown into scene after scene of the phenomena that is plaguing the city of Denver. The act of consuming is a major theme throughout the story, from the atrocities committed against innocent people, to the act of indulging into drugs and sex. Robinson does a hell of a job orchestrating every piece of this story towards this theme. You Will Be Consumed delves into Cosmic and Extreme horror to weave this unforgettable tale, but even reader’s not accustomed to these genres will still find enjoyment within these pages. The ending, especially the final couple of pages, give an overwhelming sense of hopelessness and resignation that gives the book an ending that will leave the reader thinking about it after the fact.

Oh, Nikolas P. Robinson, we need to talk.

I have a HUGE bone to pick with you.

I listened to You Will Be Consumed and I hope you have news of a sequel because you cannot leave an old lady like me with a cliffhanger like that! Think of my old, frail heart, Nik! Think of my poor children and how they may have to tell their children that Nik Robinson killed their award winning* Mother from a cliffhanger.

Is that the legacy you want?

This novella was amazing from beginning to end! Why did I wait so long to dive into this? Strip clubs, crooked cops, weird ass kids, penises getting bit off!? All my favorite things.

TWCY seriously is perfection. The world building and flawed characters were my favorite parts.

Why haven’t you picked this one up? It’s $0.99 on Godless.com and UNDER $5 on Audible! Go! Go, pick this up!

Imagine if David Cronenberg had directed Seven, with a hefty doze of The Twilight Zone, and you've got the idea.

Deftly drawn, very human, characters give the story a genuine emotional heart, and the antagonists are wisely left ambiguous. The unknown is much scarier than the easily identified.

Placing the emphasis on dread and hopelessness, rather than gore and depravity, this is an unsettling, but compelling, read. Highly recommended.

You Will Be Consumed is above all else, a gross book. But if that's what you're looking for, books rarely do it better. Nikolas P. Robinson has an amazing eye for the details that make gross things come to life. Anyone could write a stripper's backside opening up and eating a head. It takes a true talent to show readers the toilet paper inside as the head slides in. That there's a good story in there (nice parallels to Larry Cohen's film God Told Me to Kill) is gravy.

This novella contains the goofiest death scene I have ever read and I am here for it! The ending is delightfully bleak and the imagery is both vivid and repulsive.

“The nightmares are outside now, and there’s no room left for them in dreams.”

This was an eerie tale of two detectives trying to solve a spree of bizarre and unsettling murders. Things come to a head in a sewer bound chase that reveals a startling truth to the mystery.

Despite being a short story, it was so well done; the two main characters were interesting, and the dialogue was engaging. I was enjoying every minute of it, and would love to see a sequel!!

Okay, This was excellent! I did not expect a 79 page story to hit the heights that this one did but let me tell you it blew me away.

Nikolas P. Robinson was not an author I had come across before stumbling across another review of this book on Goodreads so I went in with fairly low expectations. And wow can he write! He writes like he's been doing this for years and knows how to hook you not only at the end of a chapter but the whole way through.

The story reads like an 18 rated episode of the X-files. We have the two detectives that are greatly flawed but oh so real. I really enjoyed following their sense of absolute confusion as to what is going on as they just kind of coast through it. There's always a sense of looming threat with this tale and you always have the sense that as bad as things are going right now for these detectives it is only going to get a hell of a lot worse!

Honestly cannot say a bad thing about this one and I will be trying to get my hands on everything by Robinson from here on out.

“Shit is getting spooky out there, he thinks to himself. These investigations are getting to him and, as much as he tries to pass things off as some big, cosmic joke, it is getting under his skin. Skull, flesh, and brain ate away by digestive acids, cannibal arsonists, and men being milked for semen; these simply aren’t the sorts of things he could have prepared for.”

This story was excellent!! I had such a great time. In this story we follow two detectives as they investigate multiple violent murders that keep happening throughout town.

The writing was done very well and I was locked in from page one up til the very last page. Bloody and gory with supernatural elements. Very sci-fi vibes and on the very gruesome scale of things for sure. Every horror lover needs to add this one to their TBR.

Not what I expected at all

I was expecting something more grotesque from this book, especially with the first chapter. But what I got was a story of two detectives trying to solve unusual murders. I started off not liking the main characters, towards the end though I felt empathy for them and the horrors they've come across.
I would have liked more closure at the end, but sometimes stories just don't have an ending. I think if there had been more closure it would have felt forced.

I had high hopes for this one when I was seeing it advertised but was honestly as mediocre as the author.
