A good girl looking to get a little dirty
Taylor
I’m on a quest to prevent my revirginization.

My dry spell has become a drought, and I’m this close to buying batteries in bulk at the wholesale store.

But fortune smiles upon my neglected lady parts when I meet a man who looks like a model for a gym commercial, acts like he might have a few manners, and kisses like he can’t get enough of me.

I wouldn’t have thought it would be all that hard to convince a horny hottie to have sex with me.

I would be wrong.

A playboy dragon determined to keep it in his pants
Bain
I’m not looking for a mate.
Not now.
Maybe never.

But sex? Yes, and often.

Until I meet little blonde Taylor with the perfect pink lips, the lushest peach of an ass, and a taste for my whiskey.

I want her but I can’t have her, because she’s a good girl.

She deserves more than a fling with a dirty dragon.
She deserves forever, and I can’t give her that.

Warning from the author: This book contains a sex-starved bookkeeper who’s afraid to trust her heart after her ex-fiancé smashed it into jagged little pieces. It also contains a reluctantly honorable whisky-distilling dragon who doesn’t believe he deserves a second chance at finding his fated mate.

Narration Type: Dual Narration

The Hero: Bain - Dragon kind was cursed thousands of years ago. They could no longer have female children. So male dragons had to look elsewhere for mates. As civilizations grew and the earth became more populated by humans, the only dragons that survived were those capable of cloaking themselves and living among the humans. Bain had once fallen for a woman he mistakenly believed to be his fated mate and losing her had devastated him. He was determined not to fall in love again.

The heroine: Taylor - She had caught her fiancée in flagrante and is not ready to date another cheating man. Lately she has been having erotic dreams and her dream lover has been leaving her wanting more. So she goes out planning to end her dry spell and hook up with a man. She called it her “revirginization prevention project”. She picks a local dive bar called Derek’s since her usual places where she went to happy hour drinks and tapas were not working for her.

The Story: Bain sees Taylor going into the bar and is immediately attracted to her. Though he is there looking for a quick and dirty hook up. He thinks she looks too much like a nice girl and that was not what he was looking for. However, when another man gropes her, he steps in and rescues her, then decides to watch over her for the night. Though when it comes time to leave and things start heating up, Bain actually leaves.

So Taylor takes it upon herself to try again with some changes, hoping to meet a better candidate for her revirginization prevention project. She comes up with a sex plan but is afraid it will be hard to find someone who would compare to Bain, but allows herself to go to someplace familiar and goes back to Derek’s bar a few times for just a drink hoping to get braver with each try. She found that she really liked the whiskey they served her called McBains. Especially after finding out that her near hook-up was the man that owned the distillery.

This book was told in dual points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Meg Price and Oliver Clarke. Oliver has a nice deep gravelly voice which was sexy and perfect for the mountain of a man that Bain was described as. Meg price has a clear and pleasant voice which matched Taylor as well. Overall the narration was great.

This book was a bit different than what I am used to in that there were chapters where one of the two main characters would describe a scene in their point of view and the next chapter would be the same scene from the other main characters point of view. I kind of liked though luckily it wasn’t every few chapters because then it could become repetitive.

The story was good and there was more than just relationship centric. I don’t want to go into the plot much but there was a villain in the story. There was a ton of chemistry between Bain and Taylor from the start and some good supporting characters though the story didn’t delve very deep into most of the other characters. Though I did like the magic, I just wish this was a longer book.

It is a known fact that dragons do it dirtier!! Let’s cut to the chase because of this fact aIone I had to read this book. To say I wasn’t disappointed was an understatement!! This book gave me obsessive qualities I was jittery and randomly screaming/ groaning !! You would have thought I was getting the ground pound of a century in my office.

Unfortunately, I was just sitting in my office loving on this book. Our MC is trying to get that thang thanging because her B.O.B just couldn’t hit it like she needed anymore. So in her search to find the perfect one night stand at a dive bar, Taylor meets the sexiest nicest smelling man she’s ever seen. He’s big and bad and he’s buying drinks so Taylor thinks ooh he giving up the schlong.com and big and beautiful kisses her like a stripper then sends her home.

I know we all have the depression **cues small clarinet**now but wait let’s now hit the bar every night 🥃 !! Except this night her man might be back and he might clap those cheeks round of applause style!!

If you’ve gotten this far you mind as well add this sexy little Rom Com with true love and protected sex!!

Happy reading everyone 🫡😞❤️🥰😍🙌🏽

There were things I really liked. The refusal of Bain to believe and his actions were amusing. There were things I didn't. The peach and twig and berries comments got old fast. There were things I was meh about, like the insta everything and the fact that nothing was really explained about the bond happening. Overall, though, it was a fun read.

Dragons Do It Dirtier is a really great dragon romance. Gemma can tell a really good story that will suck you into a world of dragon shifters and rat shifters. I really loved reading about Taylor, a human dealing with a crappy breakup & vowing just looking for a hookup. She meets Bain at a bar and she wants him, he wants her... Bain is something more & she's been dreaming smexy dreams about a man she thinks is Bain. This book has it all Spice, shifters, mates, and drama. Definitely get your copy.

Definitely a 4.5 🌟 for me. I loved the characters and storyline and the spice 👌 delightful. Only reason it isn't a 5 star for me, i think more needed to be explained about the world and supernatural world so we could really feel the primal need Bain felt.

A steamy rom-com with a dragon and a human

Gemma Cates has her readers rooting for the hero and heroine from the moment the two meet. Bain doesn’t want to be attracted to Taylor but can’t help himself. He soon realizes he’s her mate while she doesn’t know his big secret—he’s a dragon. Taylor has been burned before and only wants a one-night hookup which doesn’t happen. I enjoyed seeing the two fall in love.

I usually avoid dragon shifter books for some reason, but I really enjoyed this! It incorporated everything I like. It was descriptive, had jerk ex’s, alpha male, kick ass heroine, a little bit of jealousy, a little bit of drama, intriguing secondary characters and just the right amount of sex. So why not 5 stars? I think in some areas there was a little bit too much description, and not quite enough of everything else. I personally would have liked a little more drama with ex’s and the rats. But that’s just me. Can’t wait for the next book!

Absolutely amazing. The characters draw you in and make you fall in love with them instantly. Was bitter sweet when the book finally ended. I would love to have another book of them in the future. Highly recommend this book for anyone looking for a dirty dragon book.

Book 1
Bain and Taylor

This was the first time reading this author. Overall it was a decent story. Lots of humor. I liked Bain, Taylor I didn’t really care for.

Taylor is on a mission to find a bed partner. One night. She’s trying to prevent the “revirginization process”. She’s open to just about anyone. Just wants that one thing. Too bad she’s too shy and awkward to actually talk to, or approach a guy.
Bain was in the bar that sells his whiskey. He too was looking for a companion for the night. But something about Taylor called to him, even before he first spoke to her. Then all bets are off when he defends her honor when she’s intentionally groped.
And that sets off a completely different conflict.
I liked Bain. He was a decent guy. Seemed to realize early on that Taylor was his mate. Went all cave man protective on her. But it was hard at times to believe he was this old majestic dragon. He had moments where he acted more like a love sick teenager.
Taylor I just didn’t understand. She was childish at times, churlish most of the times, awkward and just plain silly. She had no friends. When it came to sex she had total tunnel vision.
It wasn’t a horrible story. There was a lot of repetition. A lot, too much. And I was about to scream if I read the “revirginization process” one more time. The one paragraph chapters were annoying.
I would have love more details, about the shifter/magical community, the mating bond, it would have been nice to have Taylor’s family show up somewhere in the story.
But it held my attention. I want to know more about the other dragons and their mates. So I will read the next one.
The story is told in dual points of view. No cheating. Mostly drama free. HEA.

I didn't like the female character.

I mean for the female character she was super annoying and weird. I couldn't handle reading her "replacement" words for things.🤦🏼‍♀️ She sounded like a granny (literally) way to soft and weird. To be honest it grossed me out when she starting speaking that way in sense of pleasure. Example she calls her ass "peach". 🙄 She's an annoying drunk. She can't handle liquor at all even for a normal person. Anything shocking coming her way she'll act as if she's talking to a child. Ex: When she saw her first dragon, she was more worried about her flowers that it was sitting on. When she gets mad, she even behaves like a tempered three-year-old, or an old lady, literally. I mean, she couldn't even make friends; red flag.

Besides the main character being absolutely horrible. The story was somewhat okay. I never heard of rats before as an an enemy shifter. I thought that was pretty clever. I didn't feel like there was enough spice in the story. It was all sugar and weird likings. Also very quick romance. Way too quick way too easy.

It started with an opening inner monologue of the FMC complaining about how difficult One Night Stands are to achieve (lol, no), complete with “I googled the seediest dive bar” levels of TSTL. Of course she didn’t just go downtown with friends, she went to the dodgy place alone.

Then went downhill faster and faster including cringe level mental commentary along the lines of “what if my boobs fall out” girl have you tried wearing a bra in the right size?

I was already done with this when she talked down about her work friends (who of course are Boring Preachy Stereotypes) and from there to “my ex slept with a skinny bitch ugh” and at that point I hated this so much that I just had to quit reading.

I didn’t even make it to the part where she will inevitably be (almost) assaulted by some creepy dude because she Went To The Seedy Place Alone just so she can be rescued by The Fated Mate or whatever. I just can’t anymore.

Well this was hot!

I loved the interaction between the two main characters (chapters typically alternate between their POVs). They're clearly hot for each other but neither lets the other know early on, so it's a lot of back and forth angst for awhile.

When they do finally get together, our dragon man begins to realize there's something strange going on - she can see things a human shouldn't be able to see ... unless its a dragon's soul mate!

There's some danger along the way and our dragon man has to reveal his true self, but she's so hot for him, she doesn't care.

The book is really, really steamy and I loved how well written the sex was.

I didn't give this full 5 stars though because the back and forth will she/he-won't she/he got a little tedious. I got just a bit bored with the woman constantly telling us how much she wanted to f*ck the man.

Some excellent stuff - the description of his scent!

Taylor was a good girl wanting to be bad, just for one night. She wanted a man to knock the cobwebs out of there and keep her from being revirginized. A one-night stand! That is all she wanted, and Bain wanted the same thing. Just not with a good girl. She deserved so much more she deserved a forever, not a one-night stand.

Shifters, and just not dragon shifters. I liked it! Got magic too! Bonus! Ok, enough with the fanboy dialogue, but I liked this story. Then there is the title. You probably could write a whole XXX adult series like Harlequins with this one.

Those that like urban fantasies, romances, shifters, or magic, I think, will like this one. I’m going to give this one five stars out of five stars.

Bain and a Taylor. Bain is a dragon who is in need of a good time. He came to Derek’s which is a bar he frequents. Taylor is also looking for a good time. So when Bain sees Taylor he thinks she is gorgeous but a GOOD GIrL. And that is not what he is looking for right now. She thinks Bain would be the perfect one night stand. But things don’t go that way for her. But there is something about her that Bain can’t stop thinking about. Well, this looks like a little bit of a pickle. Who do you think will win? I hope they both do!

Great romance, great story, funny heroine

Dragon shifter meets his mate, but she’s supposedly mated to a different shifter. Which puts her, and him, in danger. But, really, the best part of this book? Taylor, his (potential) mate. She is the friend you introduce as “remember that girl I told you about?” Throughout this book you are in her head, listening to her thoughts. And she is so funny I actually laughed out loud, even in the middle of a *very* hot sex scene! Oh, did I mention the great sex scenes? Well worth the read!

This was not for me. The dragon is only mentioned but nowhere to be seen, the guy could just be a normal man, with the same outcomes. And I couldn't stand the continuous references to God and religion, mentioned several times in every page. The girl also speaks like a toddler: her butt is her "peach", and other body parts are referred as fruits too.... I cannot sympathise with a grown up heroine and follow her sex adventures if she talks like a 5 year old. But for those who don't mind, it might be worth to check out.

I thoroughly enjoyed this rom com. Taylor is funny, charming. Her inner dialogue was funny and relatable. Bain isn't your usual alpha male. His care and concern for her and how to proceed once he realizes she's his mate is a nice change because he shows he's vulnerable too. It was also a good balance of story and sex - graphic but not too graphic. (some books seem more like a how to text instead of romance) And the glimpses into friend Dex's personality leaves me looking forward to his story.

Unexpected mate

Totally riveting book which I thoroughly recommend and hope that others enjoy it as much as I did. A woman who has been cheated on but just wants a good one night stand and a dragon shifter who believes that he's never going to find his mate. Can these two people overcome the obstacles that they have allowed to run their lives and realise that love and happiness can happen and they deserve it.

Got it for free on one of those “here’s all these romance novels discounted and free” on Amazon. Being a masochistic reader of the cringe spectrum that that is…here I am. It was…not the worst thing I’ve read and definitely not the best. Kind of cute at moments but generally played out and the cringe terms got old fast. A pleasant enough quick read when you just want to set your brain on stupid and coast but nothing really recommending it.

Humour, heat and romance

Wasn't expecting that!! A dragon and a human...both with the most hilarious internal dialog, just a hint that some of it 'comes through' to the other, and territorial rats. So much humour on a wonderful journey of love....oh I really hope that each of the dragons find mates as interesting ;-)

Great back story

This obe made me laugh. Several times. Switching between Taylor and Bain was positively fantastic, and the conversations between the two were absolutely delicious. Internal dialogs were a hoot, and words of wisdom were from the radio. And peach, foe me, will forever be changed.

This is worth a look. Bain and Taylor are a hilarious couple finding their way. Taylor is the light weight drinker who won't trust her heart and Bain is the dragon who doesn't believe he deserves to find his mate. Both have been hurt in big ways but need each other. Lots of spice and all the feels. It was a great little read.

Sweet and steamy!

If you like HEA, Dragon shifters, spicy on the couch kind of scenes, and mostly green flag behavior then this is for you.

If you're more for behind-closed-doors and super slow burn, then it's not.

Thoroughly enjoyed it and I'd start the next in the series if I didn't need to go to the dentist right now, lol!

Great story.

I wasn't sure what to expect as this is the first book of Gemma Cates I've read. The story is full of laughter, caring, questions, a few twists & love. The story is well written & edited. At least I didn't see any mistakes. The characters are quirky with believable personalities. Looking forward to reading the next book.
