GRIMM Academy #3

Witches & Wizards

Rate this book
They’ve taken everything from me. Now, it’s time to fight back.

It wasn’t that long ago I discovered the truth of my family’s history and our so-called gift of ‘the sight.’ As if our legacy of monster hunting and slaying was something to be proud of.

I never wanted to be some kind of hero and I definitely never wanted to be a sacrificial lamb to a crazy ass coven. Thanks again for making that promise for me, Mom.

Left with no other options, I’m forced to side with the GRIMMS in the hopes of finding a wizard who may or may not exist and destroying the witches. I can’t let the coven take any more from me.

If we can’t find a way to stop them from starting a supernatural war, I’ll lose more than just my loved ones and my life. The world will become theirs. As someone who’s recently discovered the reality of magic and has seen the creatures hiding among us, believe me, that would be literally the worst thing ever.

Pretty much the end of the world kind of deal. So, let’s hope my raggedy magic skills and bad ass sword are up for the test because well, this is it.

If you love the Shadowhunter world and Harley Merlin, then GRIMM Academy is your next addicting read.

Witches and Wizards is the third book in an upper YA Urban Fantasy/Paranormal academy series set in the Inner World universe filled with snark (sometimes swearing), lots of supernatural beings, and a low steam romance.

“Rose, please. Listen. Don’t trust anyone. Stop trying to find me. I think I know who it is. The wizard. I haven’t seen his face, but I think it’s someone we know.” - Grayson

In the previous instalment, Rose was rescued from the clutches of the Luna Negra Coven, only to learn that Grayson was missing. Several fruitless searches later, a grief stricken Rose and the rest of the Academy were forced to consider the possibility that Grayson had perished in the basement fire. Luckily through his ability to cast his subconscious self through dream walking, Grayson was able to reach out to Rose and alert her to the fact that he was being held captive and was unable to find his way back to his body. When Rose promised to find him, Grayson stopped her. Instead he warned her that the coven was coming for her and that she must destroy them first if she had any hopes of breaking the blood bond. He also warned her to not trust anyone with the truth of her parentage least she fall foul of the GRIMMS.

Present day

Conscious of the fact that there is a mole inside the Academy, Rose knows that her only hope of rescuing Grayson is to track down the elusive wizard mentioned by her mother in her final letter. Tracking down the wizard proves to be no easy task however, especially when friends she had thought of as allies turn out to be anything but. With war looming on the horizon between GRIMMS and the extraordinaire, the ordinaire unwittingly find themselves caught in the crossfire. Can Rose tap into her own abilities in time to save herself and her friends and if so at what cost?

Witches and Wizards is the third and final instalment of the highly entertaining Grimm Academy series. As someone who was invested in this series from the start, I was looking forward to seeing Rose finally come into her own and triumph over her antagonists. The author as always didn’t disappoint. The plot was clever and well-structured with moments of action and suspense that kept me on the edge of my seat. Several twists had me gasping aloud in shock as Rose faced one betrayal after another and friends turned out to be anything but. On the plus side, a few antagonists from the previous instalments became unexpected allies. I had a sneaking suspicion as to who the wizard was. When all was finally revealed I squealed with delight over my correct assumption although I couldn’t help being disappointed at the stance they took.

All in all I felt that this book was a great continuation of the series. The epilogue in particular was an unexpected treat. I sincere hope that we’ve not heard the last of Rose and the Los Reyes werewolves. The author has hinted at a spin off set in the same world - certainly I’d like to read more on the ramifications of the bargain that Rose made with a certain dark fairy princess… ☺️

This series has been a wonderful balance between romance, kick ass action and one woman’s journey of coming into her own. Highly recommended for YA fans of academy books, urban fantasy, witches, wizards, hunters, vampires, werewolves and fairies.

Thoroughly Enjoyed . . .

There is something very disheartening when we reach the end of a series because it’s the feeling that what we have been enjoying and looking forward to is over. The author tied up the loose ends nicely. The series was a very good one that does keep the reader’s full attention from start to finish. I look forward to continued excellent stories, but I will miss this one for sure.

The conclusion continues with Rose’s search for Grayson and Brady as they fight against Luna Negra. There’s unexpected allies and betrayals as Rose’s group of friends help her in her search. Rose and her family have been through so much so I was glad to see her get her HEA!

This was a good ending to a good series. I do wish that there was a little more to it. Another book in the series to tie things up a little more, maybe a couple of years post graduation to see where their lives took them and to see what relationships lasted, what relationships were started and what relationships were mended. Overall a good read and it was different from all the other paranormal stuff I've read previously.

This third and final book of the series was full of action and adventure and generally wrapped the story up pretty well!
We find out where/who the Wizard is, we find out what happened to Grayson, and we see what transpired with the Luna Negra coven.
However, I still feel like there’s just a little bit more of the story I was hoping for. I would have really enjoyed a bit of an epilogue to explain what Rose ends up doing with her future. Does she continue on to become a GRIMM? Or does she branch off and work with Miss Weatherstone like she considered? Does she work on advancing her casting/healing skills? And what happens with the wolves (specifically Rafael)? Does she tell people about her discovery regarding their relationship? And if so, how does everyone react? And what happens with Tyler?
I guess overall I was just hoping for a bit more. I still have so many questions! But who knows; perhaps the author left it open on purpose incase she decides to write a spin-off? I don’t know if that’s something she’s considered doing or would consider in the future but I’d be ok with that! ;)
Overall, this was a good ending to the story and there really wasn’t a dull moment throughout the entire book!

Such a good ending to the series! I was sad to read this book because I wasn't ready for the end. Such an amazing series. I fell in love in the first chapter of the first book and I stayed in love with this series all the way to the end. R. L. Medina is such an amazing writer and knows how to keep her readers interested. The only reason I gave this book a 4 out of 5 is because I felt like the ending was a little rushed. Other than that the book and the series as a whole was a fantastic read! I'm excited to see what's next for R.L. Medina and if you haven't read this series you definitely should!

Interesting end to this trilogy!

Rose is still questioning everything around her, attacks are still happening (and escalating) and her cousin and friends are still as loyal as ever. There are even dragons💜

A whole lot happens in this book and, as an adult, I had to suspend belief for a few scenes where the kids were the only ones who could figure things out (the adults were fully active in things...it wasn't a case of them being oblivious or incapable), but it was an intense adventure.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Rose still has questions but the best things is she has her friends and family with her. Dragons are awesome creatures which I would truly love to be. I was a little confused so I'm going back to read books 1 and 2.

In Witches & Wizards(Grimm Academy #3) by R.L. Medina it is now time to fight back. Forced to side with the Grimms in hopes of finding the wizard to help destroy the witches that are trying to destroy even more of her life not everything goes exactly as planned. Will it all work itself out? I enjoyed this book that I received from R.L. Medina and recommend this and the other books in the series. This book is available on Amazon

too many typographical errors

I took the liberty of highlighting a good portion of them so that the author may make the appropriate modification.
