Utterly Predictable
This is a short story given the less then 200 pages. The same descriptors, repetitive story line, and predictable narrative. The environments the main character finds himself have the same descriptions and smells. The first novels in the series starred with the smell of corn chips, and progressed with little deviation or imagination ( mold, human waste, cigarette smoke, and back to Fritos). Other then having a very easy read to unwind, this series only offers a couple in the line that actually grab the reader’s attention. Even then, the characters follow the same patterns and frequent the same locations, with the same descriptors.
Having enjoyed a couple other series by this author, and needing a stockpile of material to read, I purchased the entire Jack Noble series. I won’t be doing the same in the future, and I’ll be searching out a new author. Ryan knows his audience and continues to provide the same fare. The money he’s made churning out these less then mediocre reads seem enough to satisfy his sense of accomplishment.
