Her life was finally sweet—until everything went hex-shaped.
All Torie Bliss wanted was to throw a birthday party, hex a brownie recipe, and finally settle into her new life—with her besties by her side and a certain smoldering werewolf always showing up at just the right moment.
But when Singing Falls' beloved mayor turns up dead—and Torie's name gets tangled with the investigation—her plans go straight out the window. Add nosy houseguests, a string of spell disasters, and a creeping darkness no one can explain, and her peaceful new chapter quickly spirals into magical chaos.
She might still be figuring out the whole late-blooming witch thing, but Torie's not about to let her town fall apart—not while she still has friends to protect, mysteries to solve, and just enough hex left to raise hell if she has to.
Welcome to Hex and Chocolate—a witchy urban fantasy full of sharp spells, fierce friendships, and midlife magic that bites back.
Excellent. Well written and a rollercoaster like ride! The hits just keep coming to this little family of friends. I love reading this book, but it was scary the predicaments they characters find themselves in. Hard to put down and cringe worthy moments. Lots of movement.
Torie and her pals are taken in by two older biddies while they investigate the murder of their town's mayor. There's dark magic floating around and a discovery of a gruesome collection of dark art objects spins the investigation in an unexpected direction. I love the addition of a little dragon, the cutest ever! As the murder and its negative miasma float over Singing Falls, there is also a shifter birthday and a town chocolate festival to celebrate. No parties will be cancelled on the account of murder, however, as Torie, Jasmin, and Fionna work to figure out what's going on and how to keep all shifters safe in their little odd town of magic. This one ends on a cliffhanger of sorts so have the next one ready to go!
Favorite Line ~ "Okay, but we are not separating to look for it...that's how people that are too stupid to live end up dying."

You know how some people grow on you over time? Sadly, the reverse is happening here, mostly with Torie. She's careless, gullible and often clueless as well. You'd really think that someone her age wouldn't be so careless and most definitely have better instincts about people. Sometimes when reading YA books you get the impression that it was written as a high school/teen book where at the last minute they upped the age to make the adult content legal. This seems similar where the age was changed on paper to fit into this genre without actually maturing the character. Her special snowflake savant status isn't helping matters either, especially when most of the time her magic seems more willy-nilly. Plus another semi-cliffhanger. So yeah, I think I'm done. Disappointing
I loved this story so much I stayed up all night and half the morning to finish it. And I love the newest little character. So glad they bonded. And the mystery, it was, well, I have no words. Let's just say I now know what evil looks like.
As always, this author produced a story that is riveting and addictive. The ending, oh my gosh, I was left hanging on the edge of my seat. Can’t wait for the next book.
Spell binding, no pun intended. Love the little kitten (dragon). Good lesson for grownups, listen to the kids. Love this read and starting Book Five as soon as I submit this review.
This book was very entertaining. I knew things were going to take a turn when some new characters were introduced. I love how the author sets up the story for the next book. So excited for the next one.
I like how this series in Singing Falls that almost all members of the town get along together but there is 2 people that are jealous of the paranormal and want more no matter what. This is similar to real life.
This book I was able to guess the ending but it was still a really good book filled with amazing characters , spells, fights, neighbors, mystery and supernaturals.
A baby dragon! No more words but what a cute little stinker of an addition. The was definitely a crazy ride but a great story. On to the next Singing Falls adventure!
I have been enjoying this paranormal series. I like that you could read each book independantly\out of sequence. This particular book in the series is my favorite so far. I like the twists and unexpected turns it has. (No spoilers given).😀
