He enjoys writing steamy romance but more importantly he enjoys the “research” required to produce the steamy scenes. If you like filthy-mouthed, possessive alpha heroes and steamy romance, you’ve come to the right place!
This was one 𝑯𝑶𝑻 read!! So entertaining. Glad I gave 𝗠𝗮𝗰𝗸 a shot. He did NOT disappoint. It sizzled with chemistry... Like, OMG! Mack and Presley were so hot together. The banter and sexual innuendos were on point. Dang, so good!
Mack Mitchell's ego is as big as his... well ya know, it's large. He is cocky, brash and his swagger was drool worthy. He never lost, put his work first and never apologizes. He wants to make partner at his firm and will stop at nothing to get there.
Well, that is until he literally has a run in with the sweet, do-gooder that is Presley Griffin. He is a complete jerk to her. She leaves the coffee shop drenched in 𝒉𝒊𝒔 coffee and he leaves turned on by the spunky woman who has balls to go up against him.
That isn't the last of her though... she ends up being the opposing counsel when he arrives at court shortly after the coffee debacle. He wants her, but he shouldn't. She's the enemy. She could derail his life plan. She could make him lose this case. She could just be what he needs to turn his world upside down. To bring color and life back into it.
Seriously, this was such a fun read. I thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish. I didn't even care that it was over 350 pages. I just sailed right through them! OMG- that car scene---🔥🔥🔥🔥 Mack was oozing sex appeal and his dirty talk, some of the best!

This is the perfect story for anyone looking for entertainment from beginning to end, ridiculous chemistry that is passionate both on and off the romance journey (that means they had chemistry as just two people and two people wanting to rip each other’s cloths off LOL), well developed characters that grow throughout the story! I was high on life the minute I sank into this story!
If you find yourself wanting to be in the circle of the characters of the story that you are reading, I think you’ve hit the jackpot of all jackpots! That’s how I felt when I was reading the interactions between Mack and Presley. I wanted to be in the story, and I wanted to be their friend! These two were such great characters that I want to read this story over again right now!
I’ve read quite a few books co-written by Alex, but not one that was solely written by him and I want to slap myself now for not doing a deep dive into his words in the past. He gave me just about everything I love to read in a romantic journey with Mack and now I am going to stalk his backlist and maybe do a bit on binge reading!
Sidenote: This cover is #winning! I could get lost in those yes! GAH!
Delighted is how I would describe my feeling after reading Mack. I have read most of what Alex Wolf has written primarily because he writes a superb, hot as he!!, Alpha hero. This is the best book he has written to date. Not only is Mack a great character but the story built around the development of Mack's character is written extremely well with a cohesive plot, a strong relatable heroine, page-turning pacing, and of course sizzling heat. There is something else that elevates this story for me. Our hero, Mack must come to terms with what it takes to have a life filled with passion and love. Heretofore, he has been in relentless pursuit of career success no matter the cost to his sense of wholesome worth. The accolades and trappings of wealth and success were how he projected his value to others until it all began to mean less and less to him when he found happiness in true and real love. But could he and should he have to give up all he had worked for just to be with the one who makes him whole inside? It is an absolute choice that our hero comes to terms with. Beyond falling in love is being "all in". Many of us can relate to what this means. It's that gamble...that leap of faith...nothing or no one will deter you from your love, not even the cost to you personally. You are "all in". I enjoy it when a writer makes me think, remember, even yearn. Mr. Wolfe hit the mark with this book. I am thrilled that he is getting better and better at writing. I am also "all in" for whatever he writes next!
This story was worth all the wait. I can tell you that much. I loved the cocky suit series and this one just continues to have the same amount of funny banter, heat and swoon moments all combined into a delicious book that was read in one sitting.
There isn't really much to tell you about Mack other than he was driven and went after what he wanted even if at times it was a bit shady. Presley was just as ruthless but had a bit of a soft heart on her with wanting the world to be more fair and not so money driven. I found her to be exactly the woman Mack needed in his life to put some perspective that there are more important things in life than winning - although I have to admit that sometimes winning does feel freaking awesome.
Now I'm ready for Ryder - I need to see him lose his cool when dealing with love.
Having read a number of books by Alex Wolf I was excited when I heard he had a new release and I couldn’t wait to dive in. This is Mack Mitchell and Presley Griffen’s story and I was hooked on the story Mr. Wolf wove from the first chapter. Although not a particularly long book, it certainly was steamy. The attraction between Mack and Presley is scorchingly hot as these two move from frenemies to lovers. The only question is will they soar or crash and burn? There were moments where I wanted to smack Mack across the back of the head; he really was a bit of an arrogant jerk, but he grew on me. Presley is one of those woman that you easily admire. She is kind and caring and a wonderful lawyer who could give as good as she got and certainly held her own against Mack. Mack is so focused on work and making partner that he forgets to have a life. I enjoyed the push and pull as they navigated their relationship. Can Mack rove that there is more to him than the arrogant man that Presley believes he is?One click and find out.
Once again Alex has given me a delicious enemies to lovers couple that I couldn't wait to devour. Mack Mitchell is a cut throat corporate attorney that has may have just met his match. He is a arrogant, work driven non-commitment kind of man. He has never found a woman to hold his interest or challenge him. Get ready Mack because you are about to meet your opponent ! Presley Griffin is quite a force to be reckoned with in the court and on the street. These two come face to face in a coffee shop while Mack is being arrogant and rude to the staff but it only worsens from there when he spills his drink right down the front of Presley. No apology, but so much sarcasm then he is out the door only to find himself placed head to head in the court room with this now very angry intelligent woman who has more sass than he can handle. One of my favorite things about this couple is the wonderfully witty sarcastic banter that soon becomes sexually charged. What happens when work begins to dictate the relationship and the future. Can this couple navigate the work life to come out on top of this relationship stronger and finally get their HEA? Get your one click finger ready and find out! ~~Michele McMullen ~~
I was so excited when I learned that Alex Wolf had a new book coming out! Mack was definitely worth the wait and boy did this one ooze with chemistry!
Mack Mitchell is a real estate attorney who will do anything to get the job done. He's gorgeous, arrogant, accomplished, charismatic and he knows it! He's working to become a partner in his firm and so his life has revolved around work, work and more work. He's not very good with work/life balance!
Presley Griffin is also a lawyer, but a very different kind. She is working to help people who need it and she wants to do as much good as she can. She doesn't make the big bucks, but to her that's okay, she's helping people and that means more than anything to her. She's sweet, but she's very smart and she knows what she's doing in a court room.
When Mack encounters Presley the first time, it's anything but a great meeting. The second time, isn't much better and he knows he's going to have his hands full with her. Will he be able to prove to her that there is more to him than the arrogant attorney she sees?
As I said earlier, the chemistry oozed between these two. They are both fiery and willing to stand their ground for what they believe. There are so many things that could potentially keep them apart, but it comes down to what is most important and learning that along the way. I would highly recommend this engaging story!
**I voluntarily read an early copy of this title in exchange for an honest review**
My romance book lovin’ heart is so happy after reading Mack. Presley and Mack are both in your face and endearing characters that I just fell head over heels in love with. Their dynamics and chemistry were both explosive. Be prepared to take sides but root for them both.
Mack was the arrogant and confident cutthroat attorney that his reputation led you to believe. But he worked hard and deserved the title and rewards. But when he encountered Presley, the spitfire that he both egregiously offended and found utterly desirable, he had no idea that he was about to go to battle. She may appear to be the struggling do-gooder attorney that he normally demolished, but Presley was as sly and aggressive as Mack. And it was a battle he could not lose. Presley knew Mack’s type, loathed his type, and vowed to take him down a notch or two. However, neither could deny the attraction or the danger. She felt he was hiding some real feelings and he felt her bringing some rightness to his world.
Don’t let a few hot moments fool you. These two are at war. Bodies are about to be strewn about (some will be in designer body bags while others are wrapped securely in the brown paper bag variety lol). When all is said and done, will justice and true love win or the double tricks overrule?
This is Mack Mitchell and Presley Griffin’s story and once again like previous books by Alex Wolf I found myself drawn in from the first chapter and hanging on every word throughout this quick read. Mack and Presley both know what they want but when the two lawyers go against each other with both of them trying to come out on top it soon turns into a steamy enemies to lovers romance. Presley takes no nonsense from the men in her personal and professional life, she knows how to deal with overconfident cocky hero’s so this couple were always going to start of as enemies but as much as she takes no nonsense from Mack she still finds him attractive so will this couple move on to greater things or will they crash and burn. I loved everything about this read, the characters may be frustrating at times but they are also adorable with their pushing and pulling and there is no doubting the sizzling chemistry they share. Another entertaining, steamy read with wonderful characters from the talented Alex Wolf.
One of my favorite things about an enemies to lovers romance is the banter, particularly when there is good sexual chemistry. Mack and Presley have great chemistry, and the more the attraction grows, the better the banter. Now, I could sit here and list tons of examples from this book, but I won't because then you wouldn't have as many reasons to read it. And you really need to read it. I came to Alex Wolf in a roundabout way - I had already read some books co-written by him, and I was anxious to check out his solo work. He does not disappoint. Mack is one of those terrific romances that are perfect for lighting a candle or two, sipping some wine, and just falling into the story. Some things might be a bit over the top, but that's the beauty of it - the escape from everyday stresses. This couple absolutely sizzles from the first instant attraction to the hilarious and sexy banter to them finally giving in. It's a thoroughly engaging and entertaining read from start to finish, and the terrific characters are the kind that I'll want to revisit again sometime.
Mack & Presley. On their first meet, he's pretty much a big ol' a-hole to her, but he redeems himself. It was a fun read. A little bit of emotion. A little bit of steam. Chemistry. Attraction. Fights. Arguments. Make-up sex. Sweetness. Two lawyers on opposite ends of a legal situation, with seemingly very different moral and ethical and decency standards, who learn they're maybe not so different after all. It wasn't a story to make me boo-hoo or get all up in my feels or satisfy that angst whore who likes to rear her head...but it was fun.
Presley is one sexy smart amazing woman. Mack is one hot alpha man. The chemistry between them is off the charts. There connection is instant. Mack see what he wants in Presley and doesn’t stop till he gets what he wants. They are not looking for anything. Presley doesn’t even like Mack at first. Loved the back and fourth between them. Couldn’t wait to see what Mack and Presley would do next. Loved how e everything turned out.
This starts out with a very cocky hero (Mack) what a jerk! Seriously, how do you come back from that! PRESLEY, that’s how. Presley and Mack battle it out both professionally and personally, and like they say, it takes a good woman to change a man and that is exactly what happens. I enjoyed most of this, but there was way to much inner dialogue and I found myself skimming quite a bit. 3.5 stars
Another HOT and steamy read by Alex. Two lawyers going against each other and yet still feeling the sizzling attraction that won't let go. Mack looks out for himself and doesn't like to lose. What will it cost him to win? Just the love of his life!!
This reminded me so much of the Television series by Shines Rhymes called For the People which had two sides of the law, one being the rich typical lawyers and the other being the side that fights for inequality and the poor. I liked that about it. However, where I struggled was how Mack was basically a jerk in expensive suits who acted so cocky that it seemed like it was his right to have Presley. It rubbed me wrong. I understand that was part of his story but it came across as skeevy at first.
Luckily, that did change. I understand his motives but it still didn't mean that it lessened my opinion of those type of attorneys. I'm glad that things turned around by the end and that I kept reading because the ending was cute.
Off-topic, this cover model sold me on the book. His jaw cut cut glass... Good lord.
I mostly enjoyed this romance but in a few weeks time it will not stand out in any way. It's a decent beach read but there are definitely better ones out there. The best part of this book is definitely the vibrant blue eyes and handsome face of the cover model.
Mack starts off the book being an a$$. Sure, he is nice in the story by the end but you don't really feel like he is going to be nice to everyone now. It seems just as likely that he would be just as rude to opposing council in the future despite the changes he makes.
I love that Presley represents the people who can't afford attorneys and she is very self-righteous about that. Too much so, actually. But she is living in a crap apartment and struggling to pay off student loans. The obvious reasonable career choice would be a firm where half of her time is paying clients or at least a third. She deserves to have a decent, safe place to stay and a car that isn't older than my high school student. Doesn't mean she has to become a corporate sell out. I did not like that part of her personality.
I also didn't like the end game for the two of them for similar reasons.
I guess I don't really recommend the book but I didn't wish I could have the time I spent reading it back. I would just suggest making sure you have read the great authors on KU before this. Claire Kingsley, Pippa Grant, Lucy Score, Amy Daws, Samantha Whiskey, Meghan Quinn, Max Monroe, Sara Ney, Isla Madden Mills, Suzanne Wright, Ivy Layne, Brynne Asher, and others that aren't coming to mind. Check out the different authors in the Hero Club series. Oh and CM Owens and SM Shade. If you like funny, definitely try Worth It by those last two authors mentioned.
This book could have been a lot shorter. I skipped pages of the characters inner dialogue. Not interested. I wouldn’t want either one of them as my attorney. Presley acted like an immature teenager. She’s a seasoned attorney but goes into a tailspin because the opposing attorney is so good looking. They get involved and they each ignore their clients.
Alex Wolf is one of my favourite go-to authors. When I heard he was releasing a new book, I just knew it would be automatically put on my MUSTREAD list. Alex did not let me down with MACK, I couldn't put it down. Alex's words are addictive, and his characters are unforgettable. Presley Griffin and Mack Mitchell had me hooked from their first, rather unfortunate, meeting in a coffee shop on their way to work.
"I want her. I want to take her to dinner. I want to hold her hand ... I want her so goddamn bad I can't see straight - can't think straight."
Opposing attorneys. Pure hate and lust stare out from their eyes ... will their scintillating heat be so explosive that they can't ignore it? Can Presley Griffin and Mack Mitchell, enemies in the courtroom, become more than friends once they leave the court and enter the outside world? Presley is a non-profit lawyer, she's sweet and caring, however she can also be strong and feisty when the need arises. Mark is the complete opposite; he works in corporate law and is close to achieving his dream of becoming a partner. He's arrogant, cocky and very self-centered. Can this leopard change his spots for the woman who has caught his attention?
"There's something about the look in his eyes, the devilish grin that has me wanting to squirm ... He's going to be major trouble. He already is."
First meetings can sometimes set the tone for relationships, well if theirs is anything to go by, Presley and Mack's were going to be explosive. Alex has such a way with his words that the attraction and chemistry between Presley and Mack jumps out from the pages. Both are fiery in nature and know how to stand their ground. Even though they do share some amazingly heated moments, Alex never fails to remind his reader that these two people are at war when it comes to their profession. I loved the banter between them, the innuendos leading to some very sexy and interesting conversations. Alex's continual use of thought by Presley and Mack, allows the reader to really see into their psyche, often showing that their actions aren't necessarily what their thoughts think they should be doing.
"Every ounce of oxygen leaves my lungs. The sight of her, all of her, sends a shockwave that nearly knocks me off my feet."
Once again Alex Wolf has shown he can write emotional and captivating romance stories. his two leads, Presley and Mack, are both likeable and easy to relate to. One of the better frenemies to lovers stories I have read this year. I also loved the way in which he snuck in the mention of characters from the Cocky Suits Chicago Series, that made me smile.
I can't wait to see what he comes up with next. MACK is a MUST READ for 2021.
Presley Griffin, hurrying to get her morning coffee, not wanting to be late for her meeting with the judge and opposing counsel, has coffee dumped on her by the “asshole” standing in front. When the barista calls out “Mack” and hands him his second coffee, he turns to Presley, looks her up and down, and has the audacity to make rude remarks with not an apology for his faux pas. After a quick jaunt home to change, she arrives at the courthouse five minutes late to an irritated judge and the opposing counsel, the discourteous coffee-dumper, Mack. Mack is representing the big shots, the First National Bank, who want to evict Presley’s client, Mrs. Wilson, so that they can take her property for commercial reasons and although they are representing opposite sides of the social spectrum, there is an electric current that is pulling them together, with sparks already flying. She thinks he is hot but an arrogant jerk. He thinks she is a “smokin’ hot little fireball.” A mistaken phone call brings them together and Mack has a job to do in breaking down Presley’s barriers so that he can at least get a date with her. I have enjoyed Alex Wolf’s other books and those he co-wrote with Sloane Howell, and it has been a while since he has soloed so this one is in high anticipation and demand amongst his fans. And he did not disappoint. I am a lover of clever dialogue and there is a lot of it in this book with language light yet teasing, banter playful yet intense. And Alex is proficient in how he tells his story, using words that easily flow from his fingers with a style that is simple yet complex. We learn a bit about the author from his references to movies and TV shows and his distaste for social conditions and big business takeovers, which adds a bit of realism to this delightful read. Even his romance scenes are so sizzling and luscious that each word explodes off the page. The chemistry between Mack and Presley erupting from their first meet, and so searing, that my fingers felt a slow burn each time I flicked the page on my e-book. I like how Alex has his characters always doubting themselves, sometimes comedic and laugh-out-loud funny. For example, Mack doesn’t know if he wants to bed Presley or if he wants to date her. Presley has that unscrupulous devil on one shoulder and the moral little angel on the other warring with each other confusing her decision-making. I love this author’s writing. He shows us the heart and soul of his characters. No matter how arrogant, how smart, how beautiful--they are fallible. They are real people. They all have a face of their own. And this novel too has a face of its own. A well-written book, Mr. Alex Wolf, and worth so much more than the five stars I gave it.
Heart pounding! Alex Wolfe has hit us with a fiery new enemies to lovers romance that blew my emotions away. Mack Mitchell is a ruthless, arrogant, cocky, holier than thou corporate attorney. He doesn't lose and he will do anything to come out on top. He has his eyes on one thing and that success and becoming Partner at his firm. Until he meets his match, maybe even his superior.
Presley Griffin is a no holds barred, take no prisoners, never back down, fight for the "regular people" attorney. She is fierce and has taken down the best of the best in the courtroom. She focuses on giving hard working people their chance against the corporations that only care about the dollar signs and not the people it affects.
Mack and Presley start of in heated hatred. A typical horrible Monday at its worst. They battle head to head and neither is ready to back down. Neither is ready for the Sparks to go off like it's the fourth of July either.
They struggle with their attraction to each other. They fight it as long as possible and when they stop, it's even more explosive. They're like an inferno and they're both caught up in the moment.
The moment they're the happiest everything crumbles. The difficult choices they were putting off comes straight at them. The disaster is inevitable and the pain is unimaginable for both of them.
Can they get past this? Read and see...
Alex has taken me on an emotional journey that had me in tears, laughter and swooning. He's put tuisnone in the WIN column.
5 stars for this extraordinary enemies to lovers story that absolutely leaves you wanting more.
Presley Griffin, is a lawyer - who helps those who are in need of legal aid services. She is helping an elderly lady who is in the middle of losing her home.
Mack Mitchell, is a lawyer at a very successful law firm. Mack doesn't have time to be nice or play nice with others. He is on a partnership track and usually always wins his cases he is put on.
Mack is at a coffee shop ordering one morning and terrifying the young barista. After she makes his 1st coffee he turns to leave and runs right into Ms. Presley - covering her basically head to toe in coffee - and not once saying how sorry he was, never apologized. Presely doesn't lose her cool on him. She gets her coffee and heads home to change. Thank goodness she lives close by.
In court Mack see's Presley as his opposing counsel - he thinks he is the superior male doesn't think she'll know anything and thinks it'll be an easy win for him. Presley impresses him in the courtroom and he soon realizes that she isn't to be trifled against.
Will Presley be able to defend her client against Mack and his firm? Will she be able to help those who need helping along the way? Or will Mack and his firm destroy all that is good in Presley's world?
I received a free ARC copy of this book. I am freely leaving an honest review.
Mack Mitchell is a corporate lawyer specializing in real estate law his latest cases are foreclosing on homes for First National Bank. He doesn't care who gets hurt in the process because his end game is to become partner. He's an arrogant, pompous ass who knows he is charming, gorgeous and doesn't take no for an answer. His life is consumed by work, work and more work until Presley Griffin walks into his life and turns things upside. Presley is a lawyer who works for the underdog against lawyers like Mack. They look at her like she is a just a do-gooder and pushover but she is smart and fierce in the courtroom. Her life is devoted to helping people so her life is all about work. She runs into him while getting coffee and immediately disliked him only to later see him in court. The two of them have this instant push, pull, hate, love relationship. There's a chemistry between them they can't deny. I absolutely loved Presley she was a spitfire from the very get go. Mack he drove me crazy from the coffee shop, to a few antics he put her through yet he redeemed himself when it count. If you like the Cocky Playboy series then you will love this book.
I received an ARC from the author for my honest review.
Whenever I see that author Alex Wolf has a new book coming out, I shove everything aside so that I can devour the book. This authors writing style is by far one of the bests that I have read. The bantering and passion that he writes in his characters, makes me giggle and find the need to sit by a fan because oh la la the steam coming off these pages. Mack Mitchell is one of those guys that is a s.o.b. that you love and hate. He is working hard to make partner at the firm he is working at that he will walk on anyone to get there. Presley Griffin is a lawyer for the little people who big business try to eat alive. The first encounter that Mack and Presley have with each other is in a coffee shop which doesn't cast a very good light on Mack. But Presley gets her day in court that very day to plummel Mack. Feelings start developing between Mack and Presley which helps Mack realize that he is human and what he has been missing in life. Of course in Alex Wolf true fashion, Macks feelings get doused by his boss who reminds Mack what he is working for. In turn, Mack stomps on what Presley and he have had to become a bigger s.o.b. than he was before. Once again, well done Alex Wolf in writing another hot page turner! Now when is the next book coming out?😁 Enjoy!
This is a spin-off of the Cocky Suits series, taking us from Chicago to Detroit. Mac works with the Collins brothers and they are briefly mentioned in this book. Mack is a cut throat real estate attorney and his methods aren’t always on the up and up. His goal is to win this case for losing on a widow to allow the bank to take the property and use it for a development deal. This win will secure his spot as partner in his firm. Presley works for the non-profit representing the widow. When Presley first meets Mack (at a Starbucks) he is being an obnoxious jerk and ends up spilling his coffee down the front of Presley right before she’s due in court to save her clients house, with a judge who doesn’t tolerate lateness. Of course when she arrives Mack is the attorney for the bank. The two have instant chemistry and fall fast for each other. This causes all kinds of problems and the two fight like crazy, mainly because Mack keeps messing things between them up. His assistant Barbara is a great character and the interactions with Mack are funny as well as a lot of the snarky conversations between Mack and Presley.
"There's no going back, not after I've tasted her lips, felt her pressed against me, wrapped her up in my arms. She'll be lucky if I ever let go."
Oh My Lord, I think Mack melted my Kindle!!
Yes, he's arrogant, self-centered, career-driven to a fault, and comes across as a total jerk. That is, until he runs in to Presley Griffin in the court room. What better way to cause friction and delicious tension than to be attracted to opposing counsel, hmm?
These two were like rubbing sticks together for hours before that spark takes flight, making the biggest fire in the history of mankind!! Ba-Boom!!
Conflict of interest issues aside, he is relentless in his pursuit of her, and she, not wanting to want him, finally takes a change. Things seem to be going really, really well, until Mack's hand is forced and he has to make a choice, which of course, ruins everything. But, can he fix things before he loses everything, including her?
I swear this author writes the hottest men, and the steamiest scenes. I would recommend reading this one with a fan blowing on you so you don't overheat!
This was a really fun story. The story starts with the worst first meet I have ever read. Mack and Presley meet at a coffee shot where he is a jerk to the barista and then drops his coffee order all over Presley and doesn't even apologize. I really did not understand his motivation in this scene and I never felt he explained why he was this much of a jerk.
The second meet takes place in court where we and they discover they are in opposing sides when a bank goes after a foreclosure of nice old lady and the house she lives in. And well thats when the fun begins. Mack is really into P and well she is totally into him too but secretly. I adored their flirtation thru text messages. And I loved Barbara who is Mack's assistant, I loved Mack and her relationship.
Presley was a fun character, a bit up tight but Mack helps her let loose a bit and I really enjoyed watching them flirt and bicker and fight each other in court. This was a really fun and hot story and I really enjoyed it.
I received a free ARC copy of this book from the author prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.
