He's got a reputation to uphold and he's not all that amused the way regular people are. Like that time he stood there straight-faced and silent while everyone else in the audience cheered and clapped for that educational demo... Can Lee and Rosalie let bygones be bygones and make a family filled with joy?
Lee Cooper hasn't been interested in getting his heart stomped on again, thank you very much. He's the oldest brother, and the entire future of Sweet Water Falls Farm rests on his shoulders. Oh, and he's got his eight-year-old son to consider.
So he doesn't laugh or even smile that often. Big deal. Lots of people barely smile, don't they?
Maybe not Rosalie Reynolds, who is seriously the brightest ray of sunshine in Texas. At least in Lee's opinion. She develops educational video and board games, and she's the one who had him star-struck and silent after the demo. It wasn't that he didn't want to cheer and clap, it was that...he's forgotten how to act around pretty women.
Rosalie has plenty keeping her out of the dating pool too, the least of which is her business, which she runs solo, and her daughter, a four-year-old with a lot more energy than her mother.
As Lee and Rosalie start to see each other, she has some past obstacles to clear before the relationship can progress, and he's got some mental blocks about women he needs to erase.
It's so hard for him to be positive, and he's not sure he can be different...but he wants to try. Will Rosalie stick around long enough to sweeten the surly cowboy? Or will she decide the smart thing to do is to set Lee free?
3-time USA Today bestselling author Elana Johnson writes adult contemporary beach romance. She is the author of over 130 books across two names, and there's nothing better than sun, sand, and swoon-worthy kisses! Unless it's a sweet-and-sexy cowboy - read those under her pen name of Liz Isaacson. Or an emotional, heartfelt women's fiction novel - read those under her pen name of Jessie Newton.
What a lovely read! They say opposites attract and that certainly is the case with Rosalie and Lee. One is like a ray of sunshine and has a positive outlook on life, the other is very straight laced and more then a little surly. Can they overcome their differences to make it work and create a family between them? It’s a fab read and a great addition to this incredible series!
Absolutely loved this read! The loud Cooper boys are tamed 1 by 1 by feisty women in this series! Lee and Rosalie have a turn at romance in Surly Cowboy, and oh what a ride! After getting noticed after Rosalie's presentation in school, the serious Lee Cooper tries to drum up other ways to connect with her and invite her as his date to his brother's wedding. The only problem is, the tough and handsome cowboy becomes tongue tied every time he's near Rosalie. Good thing Rosalie is a patient woman who can't get the serious and surly cowboy off her mind! She's just what Lee needs, but can it work? Loved the interactions between the Cooper siblings as they all pitch in to love and support one another, despite their shortfalls. Also Lee's son Ford and Rosalie's daughter Autumn are a fun insert into this story--especially how quickly Autumn has the surly cowboy twisted around her little pinkie finger. And Ford steps up with responsibility in helping out. And FINALLY there's "the kiss"--absolutely swoonworthy! And speaking of kissing, we are introduced to Cherry and Jed who look to be featured in the next book, Salty Cowboy. Can't wait! I totally recommend this entire series--what a delight! I received a complimentary ARC of this book and have voluntarily given my honest opinion in this review.
Romance, sweet, contemporary, western; series but stand alone read Lee Cooper and Rosalie's story was so sweetly drawn. Loved Lee's beastly charm, and Rosalie's patience with it as Lee tries his best to communicate and not get hurt or stubborn reactions to things that happen. Small things between the two, moments, romantic and misunderstandings; fun and work; dates and phone conversations, horse rides and car rides; ranch or town, EJ does a fantastic job of painting this couple's fall, a beautifully composed novel of the tender, sweet, hard and humble moments that make up life. Lee and Rosalie (Rose) with their two children, made a lovely couple. loved their story, plus the other small moments from other members of the Cooper family from previous novels, and ties to other series (in a good way). Lee's parents, the farm, the family meals, a true family, sweet romantic fall set in Texas on a ranch. Add a wedding to the mix, and it was a perfect, sweet romance. I received an ARC from the author in exchange for a fair and honest review. My opinions are my own.
Surly Cowboy is a story that will bring you laughter, tears, and a feeling of just needing to shake Rose and Lee at times. They let their anger get in their way and also left the other out of important matters of their family feeling as they didn't need to know. Lee was getting help from different people as to where to take Rose or what gift to get for her, Autumn and Thumper. Rose worried she might not be good enough for Lee. All the while dancing around each other like they never had been in love before, they both wanted a second chance at love and a family made up of a mommy and daddy in the home. They also wanted children of their own. Wayne and Chrissy had told them that they were to move into the family home as it was time for them to take a smaller cabin to live in. Rose told Lee he needed to get his act together as she was ready to marry him and move to the farm. Rose was finally standing up for what she wanted in life. It seemed to work with Lee.
Lee is the eldest Cooper brother, he feels the weight of his family upon him. His mother has been ill for years with cancer, his father has passed the running of the farm over to him, Will and Travis. It's all too much. It does occur to me that as they're so wealthy they could afford to hire more help! He meets Rosalie at a maths presentation, and is immediately struck by her, but becomes so tongue tied, he's embarrassed. He's trying to pluck up the courage to ask her to be his date at Travis' wedding. Rosalie hasn't been out with anyone since her unwanted divorce. She's very attracted to Lee, but is often upset by his lack of communication. Can they make a go of it? Will Lee allow her in? Will their children get on?
I'd actually give this book 5 stars if it weren't for some of the editing and grammatical issues! 😉
The story itself is really nice though! Well thought out and rounded characters, reasonable smooth storyline and good clean story!
As I write this I realized that part of the reason I didn't give it 5 stars was also because, though the male lead character is "surly" some of the actions just seemed to come across more stupid and uncaring then being "surly" and there's a difference! 😉
All in all I did like it well enough that I'm happy I read it and will continue to look for more books by her!
Another Cooper brother tamed by the love of a good woman. Lee is the oldest and divorced with a son. As he watches his brothers find love and happiness, his desire for the same thing grows and he meets a woman who captures his attention and he can't get her out of his mind. Rosalie is also divorced with a child and is attracted to him when she first meets him. The Cooper family is loud and opinionated but they love each other deeply, and they all rally around Lee to help him win her back when their relationship falters. I love the family interaction and their love and support for each other. I look forward to reading Cherry's story.
As the oldest son and manager at Sweet Water Falls Farm, Lee takes his responsibilities very seriously and comes by his surly disposition honestly. The bright light in his life is his son, Ford, that he co-parents with his ex-wife. When he meets Rosalie, a single mom and educational game developer, he thinks she is the most interesting woman he has met in a long time. They both have family and business challenges to deal with. Throw in his charming son, her precocious four year old and a pet rabbit and you have a sweet, clean romance that you won’t be able to stop reading! Don’t miss this latest story from Elana Johnson.
Lee is the oldest Cooper brother. He's as outspoken as the rest of the family. He sees Rosalie at a math night at his son, Ford's school. He is speechless when he sees her. He's been single for so long that he doesn't even know how to ask someone on a date. He works crazy hours running the family farm.
Rosalie's husband was hurt in an accident and divorced her. She's running her own business and taking care of her 4 year old daughter.
She is quite taken with Lee as well. They must learn to lean on each other and work through their crazy life.
Rosalie's daughter has a rabbit named, Thumper. The scenes with the rabbit are hysterical. Loved it!
I had an Advance Readers Copy of this book, but this is my voluntary and honest opinion. Lee Cooper gets up his courage and asks kid’s game developer Rosalie Reynolds to attend his brother’s wedding with him. She won’t agree until they have a date first. From there, things get interesting with their relationship as each of them learn how to relate to the other. Lee has to learn to let another person in and not take everything on himself and she has to learn not to let others walk all over her. Another interesting book in this series by Elana Johnson.
Lee and Rosalie have relationships in their pasts that didn’t end in “and they all lived happily ever after”. This has left both of them a little hesitant to let down their walls and try finding love again. For me, this story is all about the magic of second chances and all the joy and terror of starting over. There’s the hope for something new and better, but there’s still the fear of pain from the old wounds. I really liked seeing these two together and Lee’s grand gesture game is on point. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.
After attending math night, Lee Cooper can not stop thinking about Rosalie. He shows up unannounced and asks her to be his plus one at his brother's wedding.
Rosalie is quite taken with Lee Cooper. When he shows up and asks her to his brother's wedding, she quickly suggests they go out beforehand in case they don't hit it off.
What happens next is one for the books as they both try to juggle work, their children and families as well as themselves. Can they survive it all?
Lee Cooper is the most complicated of the brothers. If he can get the help from his family to help him get a kick start into a relationship, he might just find the love of his life as his brothers, Travis and Will did! Having had one marriage end in divorce definitely left him gun shy except for the love of his son, Ford. Knowing that Rosalie has a daughter and is divorced as well might just make this work if he can get his priorities straight. With her support this just might happen this time, but a few bumps in the road occur first!
The magnetic connection they both felt couldn't be denied. They both were divorced with a child of their own. Did she still love her ex? What happen in his marriage that kept him from dating? Will he finally find that someone who can accepted his surliness and love him anyway. Will he be the man who would love her daughter and treat her like his own? Can she tame him and give him what they both want. Read how his family pulls together to help this couple accomplish what they have been dreaming of.
Lee and Rosalie are a sweet couple, I LOVE this book! He is quite temperamental and needs to tame it down some. Rosalie has her own baggage as well. Can they make it work? I love the looks that you get into the other sibling's lives during this book and it gave us a taste of Cherry and her life and I cannot wait for the next installment!! Rosalie and Lee both have little kids and add in a pet Rabbit for even more fun!! If you love clean cowboy books, this one is a keeper!!
Once again, Elana Johnson delivers a spellbinding story full of hope. I rooted for Rosalie & Lee. I swear I hardly blinked while reading because I didn’t want to miss a thing. I was hooked from beginning to end. A sweet, christian journey about two broken & insecure people trying to overcome their pasts. This is a story filled with friendship, family, healing and love. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
I loved this story and how vulnerable Lee became and finally able the break down all the walls he had built around himself. I also loved how he caused Rosalie to realize that she had an opinion of what she wanted and needed and how to bloom and become his Rose. What a ride this story was watching a diverse families become one unit finally realizing that each one had to change and adapt to the others needs. Excellent.
Oldest brother Lee is a lonely single dad and envious of his two attached younger brothers. He does have his eye on single mom game developer Rosalie, but he seems to get rather tongue tied when it’s time to talk to her. There are many trials to go through before they get to smooth sailing. Another great written and interesting book for the Cooper family. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book
The Cooper brothers certainly have a reputation: cross, grumpy, surly, and I imagine they were called a few other also. It is a shame they took after their father and not their mother in temperament. Really though, they are really pussy cats under that tough exterior, they just need the right lady. Elana Johnson can be counted on to bring us interesting characters and plots. I enjoyed Rosalie and Lee’s story.
Another great book from Elana Johnson. I loved Lee and Rosalie’s story. Also having two weddings. It was a roller coaster ride, together, not together, you never knew with those two what was going to happen next. I did love the way he made up with Rosalie. Though you did have to wonder if Lee could keep his love. This was a good read and I would recommend it. I received an arc and the views and opinions are my own.
I gave this book 2 stars, I stopped reading this book. I liked Lee and the Cooper family but I don't like Rosalie. I may try and read the rest some other time. I feel so bad about James. This is the reason why I don't like Rosalie....... After the explosion that hurt James and blown up her life Rosalie had watched her future drain from view. She was thinking about herself and not of what happen to James.
This was another great story about the family with three sons and two daughters. Lee had been married had an eight year old son. He was lonely and wanted someone to share his life with. He went to a school presentation that was given by Rosalie. She had made this game to help with math , but was not impressed. Well, things progress and soon they are dating. Much more to come, enjoy.
this is a good story lee is a serious and the oldest of the brothers. rosalie is rasing her little girl, she developes vidos and he is working on the ranch can they learn to get along with the children it is a good story watching them grow i was given acopy of the book but this is an honest review
This is another delightful story in Sweet Water Falls. Lee Cooper works on the family farm along with his siblings. He is divorced and has joint custody with his ex-wife Martha raising their son Ford. Lee is ready to find love again. Will it come?I love the characters and theme in the story. It is a clean well written story. I received an ARC of this book and I highly recommend reading it.
I love how much Lee and Rosalie appreciate each other. I love how they strive to be and do what they need to for themselves and each other even when they are struggling. I love how Lee learns to manage some of his surliness. I love how much they want and need their families. Surly Cowboy is a great addition to this series.
Again Elana Johnson pens a great book! Lee's turn to shine starts with a long pause but quickly speeds up when he finally admits his interest. Rosalie is great with his attention but when family problems come between them Lee needs to scramble to make things right. A great third installment in this series.
That whole family is the same way... they got that from their Daddy! Rosalie and autumn are good for him but im just not sure be can tamp his rough edges to win her. I love this family but it cracks me up that they get so grumpy with each other but then act like nothing happened! Lol can't wait for Cherry's story
Lee Cooper feels like the entire future of his family's ranch rests on his shoulders. That and caring for his son on weekends doesn't leave much time for romance until he needs a date for his brother's wedding and Rosalie comes along. Lee ends up having to enlist his family's help with romance. I listened to an audio copy of Surly Cowboy.
The third brother finds his significant other. Not really a fan of Lee, but I did like Rose's character. Of course the children and rabbit add to the fun. I am eager to read the older sister's story. Thanks to the author for providing a copy.
What a great story of love and devotion. The characters are great, especially Lee and Rosalie. As with all of us they both have some things that they need to work through to find true happiness. I can’t wait to find out what happens with Cherry Lee’s older sister.
