Aliens, time travel, and a mystery-solving ghost. An interesting entry in the Ghostwriter series. It's the day before Halloween in 1938, and cousins Emily and Sam are home alone. They're listening to the radio when news of an alien invasion in their hometown breaks out. Can the Ghostwriter team help them from the future?
This one works in some fun historical information. The writing was good. Black-and-white woodblock-style illustrations help break up the text.
I did feel this one had a different vibe from the earlier stories, maybe because I've only been able to watch the first season of the show so never got to any of the time travel storylines. I didn't find it quite as engaging as some of the previous books. There are only two points at which the reader is invited to put the clues together. The plot was a bit complex and there is quite a lot happening on top of the main alien story. If you aren't familiar with the history, you're really dependent on the team figuring things out first.
Overall, an interesting read. Nice fit for those who want a bit more sci-fi with their mysteries.
