A spate of brutal murders and a killer who could be closer to home than one might think....
Detective Inspector Olivia Austin and her team are pushed to their limits hunting for the dangerous and elusive murderer that has Newquay CID on edge.
As the case turns personal and one of their own goes missing, the urgency to find the killer steps up and the race to get them before any more bodies are found comes to a gripping conclusion.
This is an ongoing continuation of the previous book which is book 3 in the series. Not sure why the author felt this was necessary. Anyway, you could actually pick up the storyline without reading book 3, so it doesn’t really matter. A serial killer is now in Cornwall, kidnapping, mutilating and killing young woman. This is brought sharply into focus for DI Austin when a policewoman is kidnapped and there is a race against time to save her. This is probably the best book in the series so far. If only we could see that proof reader on the horizon.
The whole story is two books each of which are half the size of a normal novel. To spread it over two books smacks of cashing in. Why just not have a normal length novel..
Enjoyed story but marked down for this reason, especially it's not made clear on the first half that it isn't a complete story like the previous ones in the series have been...
You pays your money you takes your choice but bear in mind, I read each half in one hour for each "book"
This is a continuation of book 3. There is enough information to understand what went before without a complete rerun. This author is very good at saying a lot in a few words. I have enjoyed this series not only for its location but the way trauma is dealt with and the relationships between the police.
Although Book 4 in the series, this is actually the second part of Book 3 and is a conto get readers to buy an extra book when the author should have completed the story in Book 3.
It is sad that s/he chose to do this because her/his stories are reasonable but by breaking faith with readers in this way s/he loses their trust and may well lose readers who may not buy further books by her/him.
This series of books are nice easy reads. The storylines do get better as the series progresses but there are a couple of irritations. Please stop using the Americanism “gotten” and please please employ a proofreader.
Thoroughly enjoyed this one. The second part of the story was just as good as the first. It wasn't rushed and explained a lot about both killers. Now on to the next one
