Silent Awareness: The Revelation That Changes Everything

Rate this book
The peace and tranquility that we long for is as close to us as our breath. We don't have to spend our lives searching for it. All we need is a quiet mind. Silent Awareness invites us on a journey into the inexhaustible beauty of our own essential nature.

Drawing from the wisdom of sages and mystics from around the world, the book offers a framework for unveiling the timeless awareness in which we are whole and complete. Key components in this unveiling include our mindful attention, a willingness to let go of our thinking mind and the habitual patterns that obstruct inner quietude. As we learn to listen and see with a quiet mind, everything changes ― we are at peace and inwardly realize that we've come home without going anywhere.

The book includes meditative awareness suggestions that relax body and mind, and help us understand that when there is no seeker, there is the Presence of Silent Awareness. This is not an academic pursuit ― it is a direct experience that opens mind and heart to the unconditioned love that is the ground of our Being.

About the author

Cynthia writes about the subtle and loving inner awareness that silently sees that there is no "other." When there is other, there is compassion for all and everything. Life is seen through a very different lens and we begin to uncover the beauty of our own intrinsic wholeness. Drawing from the world's great wisdom teachings and her own insights, she presents a way of listening and seeing with the awareness that arises in stillness. Why does this matter? Because a truly quiet mind is not in conflict with anyone; it is a mind at peace with itself.

Cynthia’s world view is shaped by her experience of war. She was a photo-journalist during the Balkan War and worked with United Nations humanitarian organizations in front-line hospitals, where she photographed wounded children to help bring awareness to their suffering. The savagery of war demonstrated to her more than anything else the urgent need for a radical change in human consciousness. After more than 20 years of facilitating silent retreats and workshops, she wrote "Silent Awareness" to help facilitate a greater awakening of our true relationship with each other and the natural world ― to help bring about a transformation that can save us from ourselves.

Life Changing

A very astute book, describing various levels of interaction between ourselves and the environment. It is also a story about going deep within oneself to have the ultimate experience. That experience is finding Sacred Silence. This experience is a wordless, utterly peace and loving interaction with our inner self/ God.
The writing is very gentle and harmonious, with the author’s life stresses intertwined with the ideas and wisdom of various Eastern and Western religious mystics, gurus. I have grown in wisdom by reading this book and hope that through walking meditation and deep Silent Awareness that I be a better neighbor, husband, father, and grandfather .Retired Family Physician .
