De Bratva Kingpin is het eerste deel an een tweeluik en mijn eerste ervaring met Shanna Bell. Gelijk vanaf de eerste pagina word je meegenomen op een avontuur met Katya en Kristoff.
De schrijfstijl van Shanna is erg prettig, het verhaal leest vlot weg, zit lekker wat humor in verwerkt en het is erg beeldend geschreven. Dit alles maakt het echt een heerlijk verhaal om weg te lezen. Hoe verder je komt in het boek hoe meer je ook over Katya en Kristoff te weten komt.
Het boek word verteld vanuit beide hoofdpersonages, hierdoor leer je ze beiden erg goed kennen en kom je meer te weten over de keuzes die ze beiden maken. Naast de hoofdpersonages heeft Shanna ook een paar hele mooie bij personages goed op papier weten te zetten.
Het verhaal bouwt zich goed op, je ziet dat Katya en Kristoff beiden een persoonlijke groei doormaken, het zit vol spanning en twists waardoor je op het puntje van je stoel verder wil lezen. Het is een heerlijke slowburn met aardig wat spicy momenten! En dat einde!? Ik ben heel erg benieuwd hoe het verhaal verder gaat in deel twee.

"Unlike Katya and I. One day, hate would be all she would remember me by."
The writing style is a appropriate mix of aesthetic and vulgar, hence, it is easy to follow and fits the story.
The story itself is a combination of fast paced scenes and slow burn ones with funny elements and serious conversations in the setting of a dark atmosphere.
Katya is a strong, beautiful woman who is so obviously in love with Kristoff it physically hurts sometimes. While I really love that he protects her by keeping her at a distance, which in return hurts her though, I was a bit confused how Kristoff at some point made a 180 from acknowledging his possessiveness over Katya to giving in and love her with no boundaries. It was a bit abrupt although obvious to happen since he always makes everything about her special and puts himself in a special position, e.g. by being the only one to call her by her full name.
A really wonderful aspect they have in common is their interest in (classic) literature which - in my opinion - is of importance for their story. 🥰
But I also still love the side-characters very much: Yuri, Damon and Angel with their constant banter, Viking and Elena who's story overlaps with this one, and of course Tommie who is funny, supportive from the get-go and an immediate friend to Katya.
I still think it is heartwarming and, at the same time, unimaginable heart-breaking how Kristoff beats himself up for not having been able to save his mother as a child though.
The cliffhanger is extremely well placed, I have to admit. I truly am excited for "Bratva Queen".

Having read all the books by the author,I can say lots of timelines merge in thus story. Gio,Viking and Baron's stories and the role Krisoff and Katya play in their stories become clearer.
But I wanted more of kristoff and Katya.i felt their interaction was less.
Also I had already read all the action in other books.i was eagerly awaiting this book though not disappointed I m neither too happy.
The leads had explosive chemistry .
For better understanding its advisable to read love is rage and love is game as well.
Also I thinksomething is wrong with kristoff's age.
He should be around 37 but is written to be 10yr older than Katya.
Katya really came on her own in this book from a cancer survivor to a stro g girl who knew what she wants.

This author really knows how to write a compelling book that sinks its claws into you and doesn’t let go until you finish it. I’ve read all her books. She is truly a marvel. The story of Kristoff and Katya is a must read. Don’t miss it.

If you haven’t read this author’s library-mi can recommend. The Bloody ROMANCE books, you are missing out. I have been eagerly waiting for Kristoff’ s book for a while and now I can’t wait for book 2 in this series. This book is well written and plotted. The story grips you and keeps you reading. I wasn’t ever board but couldn’t read it fast enough. These books are those that I mark and put aside as I will read again and enjoy. Well done 😘

Kristoff is geen type ruwe bolster, blanke pit. Hij is echt tot een foute gast gevormd, die meedogenloos, kil en zonder scrupules in het leven is komen te staan na een traumatische gebeurtenis. Katya is veel lichter en onschuldiger opgetekend, maar Shanna Bell heeft haar ook strijdlust en kracht gegeven. Ze maakt, en houdt je nieuwsgierig naar hoe alles zich met, en rondom de twee hoofdpersonen zal gaan ontwikkelen. En dat beperkt zich niet alleen tot de personages zelf, maar geldt ook voor alle spannende, geheimzinnige en steamy verhaallijnen die Shanna Bell voor haar boek heeft bedacht.

De Bratva Kingpin is het eerste deel uit de Bratva royals duologie van Shanna Bell. Het is één van de betere dark maffia romance boeken die ik de laatste tijd las. De Bratva Kingpin zit boordevol wraak, bezitterigheid en lust.
Deze roman is er eentje vol actie. Shanna Bell heeft een beeldende en gedetailleerde schrijfstijl waardoor ik al van de eerste pagina’s in het verhaal getrokken werd. Ook de grote hoeveelheid aan spannende gebeurtenissen zorgt ervoor dat het verhaal erg vlot leest.
Het verhaal wordt verteld vanuit twee perspectieven, dat van Katya en dat van Kristoff. Beide personages werden erg goed uitgewerkt. Ze hebben in het verleden het nodige meegemaakt en de gevolgen van deze gebeurtenissen dragen ze in hun volwassen leven nog steeds mee. Dit brengt diepgang in de personages en de verhaallijn.
Door de slow burn romantiek in De Bratva Kingpin ben ik erg benieuwd naar de verdere ontwikkelingen in de chemie tussen Katya en Kristoff. De cliffhanger op het einde doet me enthousiast uitkijken naar het tweede deel van deze duologie.

Het boek kan alleen gelezen worden, maar ik ben blij dat ik deze pas gelezen heb nadat ik de voorgaande boeken in de series heb gelezen waarop dit boek aansluit.
Sommige van de karakters uit vorige boeken komen ook in dit boek voor. Sommige situaties uit de vorige boeken ook, maar nu lees je hoe die situatie beleefd werd door Kristoff of Katya.
Dit boek leest vanuit Kristoff of Katya en het verhaal gaat over hoe hun relatie zich ontwikkelt en hoe Katya de mannen uit Kristoff zijn bratva gaat beschouwen als familie ook. Het is een goed verhaal met hier en daar spice die goed omschreven wordt, maar absoluut niet vulgair is. Het boek las fijn door aangezien het in een fijne schrijfstijl is geschreven.
Op het eind was er een plottwist die het verhaal nog spannender maakt en ik ben zeker benieuwd naar het laatste boek in de serie dat volgt op dit boek.
Ik zou dit boek/deze auteur zeker aanraden als je van verhalen over de maffia houdt/van dark romances houdt.

3,5/5 slightly disappointed
I was a bit disappointed that the whole first part of the book was actually the prequel. The new story only started around 20% of the way through. There were several side characters and stories thrown in and made the main story a bit muddled. Katya and Kristoff had great chemistry. the use of Svetlana was poorly done, she’s at the house randomly but not much comes of it, she’s at the club again a few words are shared but nothing epic. Then she’s at the restaurant again randomly, she’s like a ghost at this point. I think if alittle more editing was done this could’ve been a solid story but there are a few things that don’t make sense and take away from the main focus. Ends on a cliffhanger. I’m still intrigued enough to finish the duet.

This book has it all. Dying to know the rest. Kristoff with a blackened soul remains unmoving on love, but a spade is a spade and he loves Katya, regardless of what he says. Actions speak louder, a phrase he used.
Katya has always been sunshine, light and remained in love with Kristoff, but one can only be rejected and pushed aside so many times. After a disastrous date her life changed.
After coffee with a friend, it changed drastically. Will Katya live? Will she forgive Kristoff for his secrets or in the end will the darkness take over the light forever.
I can't wait to see who wins, the light, the dark or will they both lose?

Een duister en spannend Bratva verhaal. Een hooggeplaatste Russische man krijgt een tiener in zijn schoot geworpen door een bloedeed. Hij word vergeleken door Hades en zei word zijn licht en Persephone. Een ware strijd dat jaren kost om hem te laten zien dat zei de ware voor hem is. Maar zoals alles met enemies to lovers to Enemies komt er snel een einde aan de liefde door verraad en miscommunicatie.
Het heeft duidelijke enkele trigger warnings maar het verhaal is ontzettend goed! Ik ben een groot mafia fan en nu mijn eerste boek van de Russische Bratva en dit zal absoluut niet mijn laatste Bratva verhaal zijn 😍

3.5 stars. Like I went into this wanting a not 5 star read but, I am getting really annoyed that thought the book if he was just honest with her most of the problems would get solved. Like it's not that hard to just clue her in instead of half truths. I did really love her relationship with the guys though. 1/5 spice. Idk if I'm going to read the next one (it's a duet on hoopla) cuz I'm frustrated but I probably should.

Great with a little frustration
I love this author. And I love interconnected books. But when you have to rehash all the prior books, it gets a little tedious. I look forward to the next book when I don't know half the plot.

I don't typically read a lot of mafia but this was enjoyable. I didn't love the characters individually (except the FMC) but as a whole they all worked well with each other. I'm curious about some of their origins.
