The Doctor's Duties

Rate this book
Struggling to pay the bills with her job at a hospital, Thea Day is excited by the opportunity to work at a prestigious clinic run by Dr. Matteo Bruno. The offer comes with an embarrassing condition, however. She must submit to a series of very thorough, very intimate examinations and any additional procedures her new boss might deem necessary, sometimes in the privacy of his office but other times in front of the staff of the facility or even his medical students.

Though being put on such shameful display leaves Thea blushing crimson, as she lies naked on the exam table the arousal glistening on her thighs cannot be hidden, and her first quivering climax in full view of her coworkers is more intense than she would have imagined possible.

As the stern, sexy doctor’s exploration of her body’s responses grows ever more humiliating, Thea finds herself longing for him to claim her right then and there while she is still strapped to the table. But will his readiness to spank her bare bottom soundly for any hint of defiance scare her away or merely heighten her already desperate need for him to take her long and hard?

This might get better, but I hated what I did read. So, let me just say this: if your kinks are medical and you're just here for pure erotica, you may enjoy this. If you're looking for relatable characters, a developing relationship, and chemistry/connection between the MC, look elsewhere.

Although I rarely use the term "TSTL," it describes Thea in spades: a highly-educated medical professional who seemingly loses all her grey matter when she signs a contract without reading it at her employer's behest.

And Matteo is even worse. Let's see: what aspect is most cringe-worthy? He's a business owner who tells a new employee that she's doesn't need to read a contract and threatens to fire her if she doesn't comply with everything he does. He's a medical doctor who never gets his patient's explicit consent or, indeed, asks her any basic medical questions. He's a supposed experienced dominant who, again, doesn't get his submissive's consent, doesn't ask her limits, and doesn't give her a safeword. He's an abusive dominant, a corrupt business owner, an unethical doctor, and a terrible human being.

And this is the couple we're supposed to root for.

Well . This is something new for me , never having read this genre before , my eyes are opened.

It was interesting and entertaining.
I don’t think I will read more , however that does not mean this was bad , just not my thing.

If it’s your type of book , go for it ,I read nothing that I can pull it down on .

My description for Matteo: harsh, mean, and unfeeling. My description of Thea: whiny, complaining, petulant. If I’d have had Thea in front of me, we’d have had the “are you really that stupid” conversation at the point of her signing a contract that some overbearing jerk had her to sign without ever reading it. Then the nonsense of a “too large clit” being a reason to check her into his clinic was his very next demand. Really, chick? I’ve got a bridge in the desert I’d like to sell you.

This book plods along with virtually the same things happening and Thea saying she doesn’t want to do something or complaining about it and Matteo telling her to take off her panties or leave if she won’t and Thea capitulating....then something gets put into an unmentionable part of Thea’s body. That’s how much fun it was for her until just before the very end (no happy endings during the poking and prodding sessions). So, I guess this includes spoilers because I’ve just spelled out the entire book for you.

Meh, this had potential to be really good but ended up just being fine with a fairly flat ending. The writing was pretty good and I liked how sterile and "professional" the H was because it makes these more "realistic". The h was extremely whiny, annoying and repressed and the way the Doctor started losing his temper and slipping into 50 shades Dom stereotype behaviour just started to make this less and less appealing.

But don't worry, for some reason no one quite understands they fall in love and live happily ever after.

should have trigger warnings

I finished it to know what happened but the book should really come with some trigger warnings like dub con and humiliation for a start. I really felt no emotional connection between the main characters. The doctor was just manipulating the female main character. He always told her she had a choice when jn reality she did not. The flip at the end was just jarring since there was no basis for it int he rest of the book.

Not bad, not great, straight up erotica, but this one is on me, cause I don’t like exhibitionism and anything happening in public so… also doesn’t make sense how she dropped her “doctor” career because of sex 😭😭😭

I truly hated the fact the h had no backbone whatsoever... and even when she told him no, he still continued to do what he was doing? Not a fan.

I was told this was unhinged and as a connoisseur of wild and unhinged novellas, I had to give it a go. And it uh…definitely was just that.

This is like a different kind of naivete on our fmc, bordering to stupid. But if it calls for the story, it's all good for me, but this one considering her as a doctor herself, hmm makes me rate it three stars. I could have made it five if she was atleast more self aware and is really submitting herself into it with more consciousness. This was one of a few reads i had that the naivete of the fmc is kinda off putting. Plus include the non emotion of the mmc, it just pulls wrongly to me. I've read countless of medical related one and the humiliation in this did not serve the good. I am not into degradation kink but some books have presented things like that better, this one is just full on nonhumanfeeling mmc got for the mmc. Sadly this read is not for me.

This is a new book, by a new author, that is sure to become a best seller! It is absolutely the hottest “doctor” book I have ever had the pleasure to read. This takes medical play to a whole new level. Thea Day is a doctor struggling to get by in her current situation. A co-worker suggests she apply for a position at a new clinic that deals with a completely different type of medical practice. Dr. Matteo Bruno, the chief clinical director, interviews her and immediately has plans for her. She’s hired but when she reports to her first day it becomes very blurred as to whether she is to be a working doctor or an unwitting patient. The plot develops in the most intrusive, embarrassing, way that Thea could imagine but she is torn between abhorring it and adoring it. If you are a fan of doctor stories that involve significant medical play, focused very much on the anal aspects, then you are in for a real treat. 5 Stars

The Doctor’s duties

This is my first book of this troupe about doctors so I was not sure what to expect. The storyline was good and centered around a program about dysfunction. The lead female character Thea was just down on her luck needing a job. She was pushed to join this medical program as a doctor because housing and a vehicle. Thea seemed so unsure about all her decisions. The male lead character was a doctor named Matteo and was described as a handsome and Italian. The only callout I have is that the doctor was obsessed with her bottom and that opening. It was the focus of the exams and most of the treatments. The doctor’s first time seeing Thea he lusted after that backside entry. The doctor’s obsession with the bottom was off putting to this story. When the doctor did take her the other way, he made it feel so unimportant and lacking that it ruined the story for me. Disappointed.

I enjoyed the medical scenes in this book quite a bit, but Dr. Thea Day seems to be somewhat naïve. She applies for a job with Dr. Matteo Bruno, the director of a private clinic for sexual dysfunction and signs a contract to work there without reading it because of Dr. Bruno stating that if she needed to read it, she really is not right for the job. When he performs a physical on her at the end of the day, the two start to see that they are interested in one another other than professionally. I do think that Matteo takes advantage of her when she expresses misgivings and he continually threatens to let her go if she does not agree to continue. The medical scenes are intense and quite enjoyable. The two end up with a HEA, but Matteo is still not one of my favorite characters.

Chop down the apple tree and visit Dr. Bruno

POV: dual
HUMOR: no
F BOMBS: yes
CLIFFHANGER: no
NEW AUTHOR FOR ME: yes

First time reading this author and this genre. Unconventional, sexy Dr. Matteo Bruno and Thea Day start off with a physical attraction; handsome boss meets beautiful employee. But they don't fully connect until much, much later - after a series of extensive and numerous examinations, all in the name of medical research and treatment plan, of course.

Despite the amount of time they spent together, I didn't feel the chemistry between them. The dialogue was quite clinical. Readers are informed of Matteo's attraction to Thea, but I didn't feel the romantic connection. Interesting, adventurous, steamy, and different doctor scenes, and an HEA.

I think my biggest issue was how foolish the FMC was. She was supposed to be a doctor, yet she’s so desperate to get a new job (it’s not like she lost her previous one, she just wanted higher pay) that she doesn’t read the contract and then just goes along with everything she’s told to do right away even though it’s obviously unnecessary in a freaking interview. I don’t know… there were certainly aspects of this that I liked. I went into it knowing the kinks laid out in the book… but it still didn’t seem to be logical enough for me. Maybe if she had just been a secretary or something? It would have made more sense to me if she thought those procedures were necessary, but she’s a doctor! She knows better!

Thea is excited to be starting her new job but as the interview concludes with a medical exam, Thea gets more than she bargained for as she becomes a patient at the clinic. Dr. Bruno is very thorough in his exam and Thea quickly comes to realize that his invasive methods are causing her to learn new treatments but throwing her emotions in turmoil as she tries to come to terms with her body’s responses to his hands on treatments. Dr. Bruno has never met anyone like Thea and when her treatment plan comes to an end, will he be able to let her go or will he realize that Thea is exactly what the doctor ordered?

I liked this book. Dr. Matteo Bruno gets what he wants and apparently he wanted Thea. This is a medical play story, and it was hot at times. It has some interesting activities that are going on. I love how the relationship developed. This is a very interesting job that Thea applies for, but it turns out she becomes the patient and Thea and Matteo hit it off and Thea seemed to enjoy all that she has endured. I loved it. The characters are great and the plot was okay but sometimes it is all combined that makes a great book.

This book was such a disappointment and I was expecting so much more from it but it really was just an okay read. I thought I would love it because there was a contract element to it and Penelope did whatever Matteo asked for. However, it was just really hard to concentrate on and I just kept wondering when it would end. I definitely would not recommend anyone read this book and know for a fact that there are many books in the medical erotic genre that would much better and hotter.

Suspend all reality or you will be asking yourself, "what is she (the lead female character) thinking". Otherwise, quick read with explicit, hardcore scenes that are more than steamy. Emphasis on rear end action. Did I mention explicit - where it can be quite cringe worthy at times. Whew! Writing and grammar problems which can be distracting but remember - suspend all reality.

While I more than enjoy kinky medical erotica novellas, I have to admit that most of them are rather poorly written. However, I was surprised to find that “The Doctor's Duties” is anything but cheap. It still does not have an exceptional story, but it was coherent and with a somewhat plausible plot. I liked it.

Loved it!

I read it start to finish with no breaks. It was a new plotline one I haven't read before. A great deal of sexual play under the guise of a doctor's examination. Thoroughly enjoyed. Highly recommend.

Wow

I was curious about the title, so I decided to read this...Oh my...perfectly written and it takes over your mind ( in a dirty way) If you are looking for a fun read that is different--read this book. If you don't care for graphic or sexy don't bother...
I enjoyed it...

All is well that ends well. The clinic was really perfect for those who needed to open up their horizons. The author Cariad Hall did a wonderful job of explaining how things were run at the clinic.
