This is as perfect an ending as I could wish for. It's not the end, but it could easily have been, and I love the message that "romantic love" or "in love" is something that varies by person, because that's both inclusive and true. Even Aki got herself back on track and stopped being a horrible character.

I've decided, for now, to ignore those last two pages setting up the next story arc. Honestly, I could just stop here and be very, very happy.

We get Himari continuing to try to figure out what it means to be in love as she deals with Aki confessing her feelings for Yori. Yori promises to make Himari fall in love with her after the bands first show.

This volume was wonderful and I love how they describe that love is different for everyone. The ending sets up something curious. They reference the former lead singer as far back as volume one. With this volume sort of ending the main conflict in the story, I’m curious as to what they’re setting up here.

Also, Maa-Chan and Kaori are clearly dating, right?

These two character's whole journey was incredibly adorable. You can't help but root for them. I am not sure what the reveal at the end will mean for the series.

This series is a light contemporary manga that explores different interpretations of love. Would be a great intro into anyone looking to get into sapphic manga.

The lead-up to the two girls finally starting to go out was a stagey, but the last few pages of the concert sequence got me a little teary-eyed anyhow. In the previous volume, author Takeshima talks about having conversations with an editor, where between them they try to figure out how to present what love is like in this story. Mostly successful, by my reckoning. I still don't think Himari and Yori's feelings are on exactly the same page, but that's true of a lot of couples, and as long as they continue to be honest with each other about those feelings, they'll be fine.

We're now heading into either the "post-going out" impediments, or into stories about other couples, I imagine. Not a problem, as long as things continue to be as cute and insightful as they've been so far.

A heart-warming story I recommend to everyone

Yes, yes. I couldn't help it, I had to go read this volume after the end of the second one. I don't have much to say. I loved it just as much and can't wait for the next volume. Though, I think the theme is going to change a bit because until now, the story was centred around the concept of romantic love but the end of this manga kind of reveal that it's going to be more about competition. I won't say more not too spoil anyone. Just go read it.

Himari’s trying to figure out how she feels so she can give Yori an answer about their relationship. However, she’s about to learn that life is what happens when you’re refusing to make other plans. Then Yori puts a hard deadline on things and totally invalidates the series’ title by singing a love song very loudly.

Hats off to this volume of Whisper Me A Love Song, which delivers everything you’d want in a book’s finale while also promising further adventures are on the way. I wasn’t ready to say farewell to these two just yet and I’m happy there’s still more to come.

First off, oh man, I cannot praise how well they handle the situation with Aki that closed out the last volume. That could have gone a lot of ways, but they choose a more pensive, thoughtful way in the end.

When Himari asks Aki if she ever told Yori how she felt, the sadness and regret in her response is palpable. Aki recognizing how strong Himari and Yori’s feelings are and choosing to be the best friend is a great look and I wish more rivals went this route.

We also get a lovely conversation on what love means and how you don’t have to define love on anybody’s terms but your own. Not the most original sentiment, but one Himari needs as she is sorting her feelings out.

Make no mistake, Himari’s totally in love, she just has to get her head to catch up with her heart. That’s not too hard, of course, because these two couldn’t be more adorable together if they tried.

Between both of them having pangs of jealousy and their utterly charming shopping date (I swear to God, these two are the cutest shoppers in manga history), there’s abundant relationship to be enjoyed here.

This is a Himari-focused volume, but it’s actually Yori who steals this volume, with no less than two Mark Manga Moments(tm).

The first Moment comes when she helps Himari by giving her a deadline for her response. It’s not pushy, just pure confidence that by the end of the band’s concert Yori will have cleared every bit of doubt Himari has. Yori sells this scene so hard.

Then there’s that concert.

If ever I wanted to see anything in a manga animated, it’s this moment. Yori ends the set with the song she wrote for (and about) Himari and she just kills it. The words and the illustrations combine for the whole package and it’s done perfectly. Music in manga is always tricky and the only reason I think this would be better animated is because it’s too good to only be on the page.

5 stars - this is the best this series has ever been and that concert is very likely to go down as its high point (and what a bar to set for yourself!). The ending and some asides suggest that Yori and the band both have past trauma still to deal with and I can’t wait. Like I said, the series could have ended perfectly here but I was really not ready to be done with these characters just yet, so the promise of more is very, very welcome.

Woah, I really didn't think we would get the confession in this volume! Thought it's gonna end in a cliffhanger, as usual. Although we still got a cliffhanger, but not about the confession.

What's up with that girl though? Leaves the band and then gets jealous over the person, who replaced her? :')

Also, huge respect to Mizuguchi! Has loved Yori for so long, has been hurt all the time probably, yet is incredibly supportive. Even having confessed to Himari about her feelings, she still sets them up for a date. Seriously, without her, they might've not become that close.
I hope Mizu gets her happy end too.

It ended the way I thought it would? I’m surprised that it did though given that there is more to go in the volumes. I’m not too happy about the cliffhanger portion as I don’t feel as compelled to see “what happens”, because now it’ll be because of a rival. UNLESS?! The rival tries to split them up and then Yori’s bestie swoops in to claim her, but yet looses Yori back to her girlfriend lol. I mean, I’m just speculating of course but it’s be funny if I was right lol. Meh volume 3 to me.
