I’ll be honest: I totally love this series until now and I love not only Faye but also all the other characters like Daron, Alec, Sair, … Yes, I even took a liking to Liri. With each book, I grew emotionally attached to these characters. Even though they are not perfect at all, I like their vulnerability and how they face their fears. This was actually what I particularly liked about this third book: the relationships between the characters, the growth of Faye and the political schemes in the Ether. The beginning was a bit slow but the end was suspenseful, heart-breaking and lovely.

This series is so far incorporating the idea of openness and love towards different races and communities in a natural way I haven’t seen much in other YA fantasy. The acceptance of diversity and justice for everyone seem so obvious without being too lecturing. At some point Faye was kind of annoying because she was so naïve and stubborn. But nevertheless, the story tells a very important lesson about love and taking care of each other.
Unfortunately, as mentioned above, the beginning and middle parts were very slow. And the part with Liri felt too short and sudden at some points. And even though I liked the portrayal of the fairies, it didn’t feel as magical compared to meeting Marious in the second book.
Nonetheless, I really enjoyed reading this book a lot and I’m glad to see so many lovely moments between Daron and Alec!

I received this ARC from the author for a honest review.

I had to restart this review multiple times. I want to say so many things, and yet don't want to give anything away! Basically this book is full of smiles, gasps, and yells; all waiting for you to read so they can happen. New characters and new areas of the world are all introduced. New lessons and more for the characters we've been following!

This series is one of my favourites since I found it last year.
Wonderful, amazing and diverse characters, which you will just fall in love with all over again (I for sure did). A plot with twists and surprises you didn't expect. And a really brilliant, heart-felt conclusion!

I love Faye and her development through these books. In this thrid one she is so grown up. It's so touching to see her find her place in this world. Her story, her character grew on me so much, I felt her pain and her love and her deep devotion to her friends and found family.
Daron and Alex are just perfect. I've been devoted to these two from book one and it made my heart sing to see them so happy at the end of this book.

The plot is fascinating and keeps you hooked until the end, but I love that so much of this book is also spend on the relationships between the characters. This is a group I'd like to be part of.

I highly recommend this series to all fantasy readers!

But there is some trigger warning! Trigger: Violence, Death, Loss of parent, Depression, Sexual Assault.

Thank you to the author, who provided me with the eARC.

Book 3 finds our crew trying to make alliances in preparation for the upcoming war.

Lots of relationship development between Faye and Telanes and some lovely moments between Daron and Alec. Definitely the sexiest book in the series so far, but nothing explicit and still totally appropriate for teens.

I love that the characters aren’t perfect. Faye can be annoyingly self-righteous but her strong sense of justice really challenges Daron who can be a bit stodgy and needs to break away from the status quo. Lots of drama between the characters, emotional moments, romance, and action.

I could say so much more about this book but it would all be spoilers with lots of ALL CAPS and exclamation points and emojis 🥰😮 so I’ll spare you! 😂

Can’t wait for book 4!

Series review books 1-3. No spoilers.

Thank you to the author for an ARC of Faye and The Worlds End in return for an honest review.

I love everything about this series!!! Nicole doesn’t miss a beat in these books. She touches on all things that truly matter in life, family, friendships, love, acceptance, and being a good person.

Faye has grown up so much since the first book, she is truly a character that you want to know. Someone to look up to, and while you’re reading you wish you were fighting alongside her. She has so much heart and tenacity. But it isn’t just her that makes these books so special. Her band of misfit cohorts are just as beautifully written. Each of their stories are so important to the outcome of each war and battle for good over evil.

Also, Telanes!! Omg!!! I love him!! Like so much, what a dreamboat man! He’s gracious, gentle, kind and so full of love for Faye. I refuse to give any spoilers but oh boy, you need to read this book just for his and Faye’s dynamic.

Thank you so much Nicole, this series is fabulous. It’s vivid imagery, beautiful story line and heroic characters truly moved me. I feel so lucky to have been chosen to read Faye and The Worlds End ahead of its release. I can’t wait for the next book!

This third story becomes much more involved and intimate, but I will still feel completely comfortable referring the series to young people. It’s absolutely beautiful and extremely thought provoking as well. For instance; What would you sacrifice to protect those you love? What would you do or sacrifice to protect the innocent? What will it take for beings to put aside preconceptions and judgments for the good of all kind? Can just one being have a positive effect on change?

Some of my favorite aspects of this series are that :
•the two main characters are not involved in a romantic relationship 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿
•no one is overly perfect, or even remotely perfect; each character has their flaws
•just like in life, not every beloved character gets their “expected” ending

The final battle scene towards the end is beyond epic. I seriously had to put the book down {repeatedly} and take a few deep breaths. It was emotional. I cried.

I have very much enjoyed this journey with Faye, Daron, Alec, Telanes, Poppy, Maurius, and the rest of the motley but dangerously talented crew.

I thought that this book was a perfect addition to the series! Every book in this series just keeps getting better and better, although I get more nervous for my favorite characters as time goes on.
-
The characters were very well written and there has been a natural character development from the first book. I loved the inclusion of some of the new characters as well.
-
The Ether continues to expand and it was amazing learning more about Faye’s world! All the pieces are just fitting together so nicely.
-
Overall, this is just such an underrated series and I wish that more people would pick it up! I cannot wait for the next book!

Thank you to the author and the publisher for allowing me to review this book!

Another wonderful entry of this series! Faye. Daron, Alec, and the rest are back to conclude the battle in the Ether. Faye is still reeling from tough losses in the last battle but slowly begins to trust herself and her magic more and more. As she does, her feelings for a good friend become apparent.

I liked how this story has built and layered. I like that there's representation for different groups of people and that it deals with class, race, and sexuality in a way that isn't preachy or threatening. It's a beautiful book about diversity, and how incredible things can happen if we work towards finding commonalities instead of differences.

Release date: 27th April 2021

Genre: Ya Fantasy Fiction, Adventure, Slow Burn Romance
Age range: YA (14-17 years old)

Overall: 5/5
Characters: 5/5
Plot: 4/5
Writing and Setting: 4.5/5

*Content warning: mental health conditions (anxiety, PTSD) issues with war ( mentions of genocide, brief glimpses of graphic violence, death), bullying, sexual harassment, parental loss, homophobia, mentions of sexual assault. Nicole has written the above issues as tastefully and respectfully as she can and addresses these issues within her book.

The gist of my review:
The cover design, just like the first two books in the series, is by Dane Low and is just as stunning. Faye and the World’s End is the third book in Bailey’s ‘Faye in the Ether’ series, and my oh my, it has levelled up. It kicks off where the last book finishes off and we are faced with the long anticipated war that has been threatening our main characters since the start of this series.

I loved how this book continues with further building on the story arch and the growth of the characters, but, alongside that, we are also introduced to some new races/beings and really interesting concepts on the history of the Ether and about the past war. It gives explanation as to all the prejudices and the hatred that beings of the Ether feel towards one another and why the impending war was fuelled.

As much as I hate it, I am an absolute sucker for a slow burn romance, and I’m so happy with the way my favourite ship has come into play. The romance side of this book has taken a step up as well, and I think that reflects the growth within the characters’ relationships as well. We see a bit more intimacy between characters and there is more conversations had about sex, consent, losing one’s virginity and sexual themes. I want to highlight that I am very appreciative of this as a reader, because I strongly believe that healthy conversations about sex is important.

There are some themes in this book that made me as a reader reflect back onto the real world. Issues such as racism, homophobia, sexual assault/ harassment, plus a smattering of other hard hitting subjects were broached in this book. In my opinion, the way Nicole addresses these topics with her characters is her way of making a stand of these issues in the real world. It promotes individuals to stand up against those that do wrong and to not hide behind the shadows. It is very bold and inspirational.

Characters: 5/5
There’s nothing inherently wrong with any of the characters, the characters are all so distinct and fabulous in their own way, whether that’s because of their race, their personality type or status within the Ether; however the two main faerie characters in this book really wound me up, and due to the events of the book, I see Marious in a totally different light, but that also shows fantastic writing. Aside from this, I love the main characters of these books and I have continued to do so throughout Faye and the World’s End.

Plot: 4/5
The central plot within this book was the team preparing for the impending battle, but also Faye delving further into her magic and powers. Obviously this book stood out for a number of reasons in comparison to the two others, but I think I was waiting for something really distinguishable from the previous two books. In saying that, with the events of this book and knowing that Nicole is in the process of writing Book 4, I am very aware that the change I am looking for is coming in the next step in the sags.

Writing and Setting: 4.5/5
The settings within this series has always been phenomenal, and with the aid of some really fascinating creatures, it not always the suspense that will leave you gripped to these books. In my opinion, the beginning of the book seemed a little long winded, and then the finale during the main climax of the book resolved a little too quickly, but I really did enjoy the main plot and theme of the book.

Thank you to Nicole for providing me with this book as an ARC via book funnel. This review and it’s content is of my own opinion and posted by own free will.

UPDATE // Full Review + some hinted spoilers

1. Thank you Nicole Bailey, and always, for allowing me to be part of the awesome ARC review team for the Faye & Ether series, as I have been nothing but blessed to fall in love with this story, this series and these characters. I appreciate every opportunity to read these books.

2. My star rating: ★★★★★! (*˘︶˘*).。.:*♡

3. Here's why:

---------------------------------------------

Faye and The World's End is exactly what you're thinking. It's the end of a battle that started in book one with Typhon and his forces attempting to, as we learn in this last book, wipe out everyone in the Ether, especially the centaurs that committed genocide against the dragon race. We, as per usual, witness the events through Faye and Daron's eyes as the war continues to unravel until the blazing, brilliant, astonishing end.

In this book we see the breakdown of several relationships. First, we start to see more that Daron is having to make brisk decisions on the spot, not only to please his father and the council, but decisions that are best for the Ether in order to protect them. However, we see Daron become one of a caprice person, unsure whether to do by his heart as straightforward as Faye has been, or stick to what others expect of him. Whereas Daron has been bold and true to his heart in earlier books, Bailey introduces a phenomenal set of events that unravel between Daron and Faye as the leader, later in the book, has to defend his decisions.

Faye continues to be vital to the story's progression, and it is entirely relatable that she remains demure to the attention she receives. Still she is the once human girl who was whisked away, unsure she has the power to protect those she has fallen to protecting and loving, and her mental illness shows as we proceed through the book, such as when she drinks for the first time and shows a side of her she's never seen, one that tells us how inured she is to everything that is happening around her and how it effects her.

I've never gone too deep into a well on this series because I have nothing but love for everything about it. I do however, have a few comments on my mind.

One, while I do love a character-driven story that focuses on smaller events between development of characters and relationships, break-downs that move into emotional scenes, I did have a slight grievance with how little the big events transpire. I really wish that the Big Battle happened earlier on, say, book two, and that book two took off into a new direction. While the two books in the beginning were great, albeit slow transitions, when the final end came to be I found myself thinking I would have preferred to experience more. Now, I love the characters. Their relationships and actions are the most important thing to me in this series, I adore them. However, after three books, I wondered how long Bailey could get away with having some small moments where enemies breech and attack and show them what they are capable of, I wasn't entirely satisfied with one final battle at the end of book 3. I wondered, how long exactly have we been leading up to this, and it didn't exactly last long. I am not entirely bothered by the decision to drag the war on, and I adore watching the characters interact, experience and travel and form new allies and such, I just wish there WAS more war. If that made any sense.

And two: You really had me in the second half ngl. POPPY????? HOW DARE YOU

I also want to mention the move into new adult, especially the lovely take on safe sex and consent that happens between two characters, in dialogue and quotable, how well the scene is written. When I got to that part my heart exploded with joy, and I was so elated by the start of the new relationship. I truly have no words for how important Daron and Alec's relationship is, and how warming, necessary and beautifully perfected _____ and _____'s relationship becomes. Not just because I've been rooting for them, but because their friendship is so important to who they are, how they cope and how they think apart and together. At a certain point when there was a question of what they were, I was entirely willing to accept it and happy, because the two of them truly deserve the best... and.. they got it!

I have no way to describe how well Bailey writes sensitive topics, like sexual harassment and the continuation of hate through different bodies and history. The entire structure of defying history's prejudices and past hate, past genocide and how it continues generationally was so important. The way Faye was able to learn and teach those important lessons was *chefs kiss*.

It's currently 1am and this needs to be edited badly, so while I'm here, let's fanboy.

One. OOOH the fairy queen had me in the first half. Her and her brother oh I wanted TO FIGHT. I id learn to love her, damn it, she's awesome and I adore her funny one-liners. "If there's one thing I want to do, it's ___ ____." I LOST IT. What a queen.

Two. POPPY. Like. HOW DARE YOU? Oh my heart. Oh I couldn't handle it. I wish we'd gotten Alec's POV right then because I would have been fine DYING MORE.

Three. I really loved the reveal of Faye's powers, and her selfless decisions. I truly lost it, how relatable it was, when she had to leave her mother behind, to say goodbye. That scene with her and Daron outside afterward BROKE me and reminded me, word by word, how it was to cry so hard over someone. The way Daron gets her a coffee and mid-sob she takes a drink and goes back to sobbing? A whole MOOD.

Four. TELANESE. I LOVE HIM. SO MUCH. He is the SOFTEST man on earth. And boy when he gets jealous??? My bf better watch out and so should Faye BC IM COMING AFTER HIM. Bailey, seriously, I would DIE for Telanese. That scene, imagining him in human clothes? I need to take a moment.

Five. Oh Marious. Oh. Oh you broody prince. His actions in this book KILL me. I really hope we see more of him, more development in the next book past his jealousy and really sad depression because man, that really blows man. Honestly, I like that you addressed that sort of trope, especially the idea that because he fell in love with her, there was no way she could have not had feelings for him too, just because his feelings were so strong. The ideas that he was so lost in thinking she was reciprocating, it really goes to show how selfish people can think, projecting instead of being present and truly seeing someone. I love Marious, and their relationship was really important to inspect in this book, and I hope he gets a happier end. I just want to hug him!

Six. Oh Heracles. Oh sweet Heracles how did I KNOW and NOT KNOW that was going to happen? On gods. Bailey I sobbed for an hour. That scene wrecked me to bits. Somehow I just KNEW and did not assume you would go there, and you did, and it was fantastic and also my feelings are slightly hurt.

Anyway, to round up, I adored this book so much. I think it's my second favorite, with all the really special moments in here for relationship development and reveals, as well as twists. I still love the writing as much as I have since starting the series, the repetitiveness that allows me to see this world in images in my mind as I read, how familiar the characters have become to me.

This is a beautiful series and I can't wait to see it through. Bailey is one of the best writers I've seen in a long time, and I wish this was getting the recognition it truly deserves, THIS is what we need in the book industry and community, as well as in the classroom. This is what we should be striving to achieve, the willingness to hit hard topics, to take new turns and end harmful tropes, to put an end to the expected.

This has the power to change a lot of people and a lot of writing. This is such an important series and I wish it could go on as long as I live to read it. If not, there's always fanfiction to write.

Thank you again Bailey, this was brilliant, and I hope you don't read this until it's polished, because yikes. A lot of feelings here, and a lot unsaid at this point.

Beautiful. Incredible. Stunning. Perfect. Brilliant. 10000/10 RECOMMEND to everyone.

IF YOU'RE READING THIS, READ THIS SERIES RIGHT NOW.

Hello my loves!! Happy Publication Day to this beautiful book! Faye and the World's End (Book 3 of Faye and the Ether Series) by Nicole Bailey.

"I know that I shall meet my fate

Somewhere among the clouds above;

Those that I fight I do not hate

Those that I guard I do not love.

-W. B. Yeats

Nicole Bailey's back with the third book in this series and I'm in love once again, with her flowy writings and the magic of the story she weaves. The multiple points-of-view in the book adds depth to the storyline. Faye is struggling with the responsibility of being a beacon of hope in the battle against forces thay seek to destroy them (the World of Ether) and the human world. Faye hates the attention that follows. Privately, she's coping with the losses she has suffered during the war and also trying to embrace the magic within, the magic strong enough to win against Typhon's forces. As her powers takes her through different journeys, Faye tries to figure a way out to save all the realms. She confronts the past to piece together what's being hidden from her. Meanwhile Daron and the others are trying to form alliances with all the other races of magical beings, to form a united front against Typhon and his allies.

The elaborate story-telling swept me off my feet, I can almost imagine the scenes playing out. The conversations in this book is very well written, the scenes with Faye, Daron, Alec and Telanes were a special treat altogether. I could feel their feelings, their happiness, their pain, their anxiety and their fears. In the book every character have been explored in a subtle way that touches your heart. The relationships (be it romantic or friendships or family) has been beautifully portrayed, which in turn brings out it's essence of every character. Alec's and Daron's relationship is one that I cherish and this book didn't disappoint in giving me the sweetest moments of them together. The ending of this book is something I'll never forget, it felt like a puzzle falling into place to create an extraordinary ending. An ending I cherished. I loved this book completely and eagerly waiting for the next one now!

I have to thank Nicole for sending me this ARC, this is a wonderful book and I'm so excited that Faye and the World's End is coming out today!

The adventures in the Ether world continue to mesmerize!
I am a big fan of this series and as the secrets and the fantastical elements of the world of the Ether unfold, the reader in me can’t but be blown away by the literary brilliance of the plot, imagery and the characters.
Book #3 begins where book#2 left off with increasing anticipation for the war to end. As alliances are forged, former enemies reunite, emotions of the heart are at an all time high, Faye shines through with her pure character and sheer bravery.
The sizzling chemistry between Telanes and Faye is a treat to read as they finally give in to their real feelings and figure what their heart truly wants. Daron, Alec and Faye already hold my readers’ heart captive, but it was very lovely to hear more from Telanes. Such a well-written character and his calm, stoic and practical attitude, complements Faye so very beautifully. Some of them romantic lines were like poetry on the page.
|"That kiss was like releasing myself to the sea, allowing the surf to propel me forward, floating in a vast expanse that might drown me, but it was there that I was free in a manner I had never been before. He pulled me tighter, his body pressing against mine. The kiss ended like a wave washing onto the shore, and we both released trembling breaths."|

Author Bailey once again has perfected the art of world building and continues to strike the perfect balance of fantasy, adventure, romance and action. I can write a separate page on the beautiful imagery that her words paint. Literary brilliance at its finest!
The climax stole my heart and I can’t wait to read book#4!
Go grab this series and binge read them all, NOW!

Thank you to the author for an ARC of Faye and The World’s End in exchange for an honest review.

I’ve absolutely adored this series since the first book and the third instalment didn’t disappoint either. It’s an amazing follow up to the first two books and I couldn’t put it down at all. Reading this book made me realize how much the characters have grown into the wonderful beings they now are. Every chapter is written from a different POV, which made me want to keep reading. All of the aspects of the book (for example: love, friendship, hate, war) made it a diverse read and the underlying aspects of the book that could be linked to our society made it relatable, even though the war takes place in a whole different world. The slow growing tension throughout the book had me on the edge of my seat and it made me want to finish the book as quickly as possible, even though I didn’t want it to end either.

Nicole knows how to make her readers love her characters, one by one. Although she’s not scared to make them perfectly imperfect, making them even more lovable and human. All of her characters

I’m so happy I came across the first book last year and was chosen to be an early reader. I wouldn’t have missed these series for the world and they made lockdown a little more bearable. I can’t wait for the next installment and wonder what Nicole will do with the Ether and her characters in the future.

5/5 stars.

This series has been mind bending. Nothing ends up quite like you expect it would, at least not at first. Faye and Daron and their friends are still fighting a war they have no idea how to win. There are so many themes here in these books. These are such a good read. I would highly recommend them, especially if you are looking for a series with good LBQT representation and a good overall message. Our heroes are far from perfect but they do the best they can with what they have. I think my favorite characters are actually Alec and Telanes. While it might seem that this book is the end of their fight, there are still stories to be told here. I love how Faye realizes that her role is way more important than that of the savior of their world. I am not giving spoilers but there are some ideas here that are extremely relevant to our world.

I don’t know how Nicole keeps doing it but this book is soooo good. I really love the character development that occurs in this book. Faye and Ether have a come a long way since the first book and to see them struggle with a world at war was intense. I love the way that Nicole is able to write her world into something that seems so effortless and unique. I love the new characters and the old. This book delves into so many things it makes you want to come back again and again to see if there was something that you missed the first time. I would definitely recommend this book and this series.

This series gets better with every book! I couldn’t put this one down. It was exciting seeing everything from the previous books come to a head and there were definitely bits that I didn’t see coming. Some of the complexities of the characters (old and new) really came out in this book, which was an area I thought the previous books were a little lacking. PS, I absolutely adore Telanes.

With each novel, Faye's character keeps getting better and better. I have to admit, while I did enjoy the previous book, Faye felt almost like a secondary character at times (maybe I just like the others so much!) In this third installment, we see a levelheaded, kind to a fault, incredibly courageous Faye becoming the hero everyone believes she to be.
I feel like saying "this book is a rollercoaster of emotions" doesn't quite fit the emotional trauma by the end of it. From the start it was like: ok, I'm at peace, wait... nervous... ok, no, I'm feeling murderous! Oh, happiness! This is so wonderf-- WHAT?! How could you?! *sobs* ok, that is nice, I guess.
The end feels well round-up and satisfying, which is why I'm pretty nervous about the fact there are two more books.

In Faye and the World’s End, the third book in the Faye and the Ether series, Fay has become a symbol of hope. Her feats are known far and wide, and though Faye is uncomfortable with the adoration, she is revered. However, as war looms, Faye faces the most difficult challenges yet, and she knows it will take all that she has to succeed. Faye and Daron must enlist the help of other magical beings if they want to defeat the evil Typhon and his allies, but how will they win when the odds are stacked against them?

The story addresses some interesting and thought-provoking questions: What would you do to protect the innocent? What would you sacrifice to protect those you love? Can one person affect change? Can people put aside preconceptions and judgments for the betterment of all?

Like the other books in the series, this book alternates between Faye and Daron’s points of view. Both characters still struggle with the aftereffects of battle and fears of future war. They worry for themselves and those they love, and they know that war will change everything. I love that we get both perspectives, which are distinct and unique from each other. Faye and Daron look at things differently, and their processes of coping, handling precarious situations, and dealing with life, in general, aren’t usually the same. Bailey does a wonderful job of crafting two distinct and strong voices, which made it easy to switch perspectives.

As Faye, Daron, and the rest prepare and train for the upcoming war, deadly revelations, tentative allies, and many political issues complicate and exacerbate their lives. Faye has a heavy burden on her shoulders, and she finds it difficult to reconcile her turbulent feelings, especially considering she is about to head into battle against a member of her family. She knows she must make many sacrifices, and the pressure is immense. Luckily, Faye has a phenomenal support system. The loyalty that Faye found in Daron, Alec, and Telenus is absolutely fantastic and shows that sometimes friends turn into family.

The romances are so lovely and still one of my favorite parts of the story. Daron and Alec are relationship goals, and I adore them!!! The depth of their feelings and the tender moments that they share are beautiful. I love that these strong, independent warriors found each other in the midst of such chaos and potential tragedy. Their love is like a shining beacon during a dark and ominous time, and I love how their romance progresses. There’s also another romance blossoming, much to Alec’s dismay, and it’s interesting to see how his sister deals with an overprotective brother and a family with goals that differ from hers.

Though Faye had a bit of a love triangle in the last book, she is better able to understand her feelings in this book. I love, love, love her choice, though, in my opinion, there was no choice. The male that she chose is loyal and solid and deep, and he proves his loyalty and love for Faye over and over again. He is committed to her before they ever commit to each other, and his unconditional devotion to her is everything!! I’m dying to know what her love interest said to Faye when they were in the hotel in the human world. Though she couldn’t understand his words, I have a feeling he said a bunch of super romantic stuff that would leave me swooning!!

The sensory language throughout the story focuses quite a bit on the weather, which often reflects the mood of the story or the characters. This vivid imagery adds so much to the setting and tone, as well as the character development, and is one of the strengths of the story. Bailey creates such immersive and well-developed worlds, which are unique yet familiar. I continue to be fascinated with the magic system, the usefulness of the Ether, and the variety of unique places Faye, Daron, and the others visit. Whether it’s traveling to the human world, visiting the faeries home, preparing for battle, or spending time with family, the setting is clear and detailed without overpowering the story.

This is a wonderful addition to an amazing series, and I highly recommend it to readers who enjoy YA fantasy with action, suspense, a unique world, fabulous characters, and two epic romances! I don’t know if this is the end for Faye and her friends. I’ve read that it’s a five-book series, and I’m hoping that’s true, even though this book finished in a satisfying way. I love this world and the characters who inhabit it, and I’m curious to see where their journey takes them next. Thanks so much to Nicole Bailey for a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.

Wow!! There is so much happening in this book, but it is such a great follow-up to the first 2 books in the Faye and the Ether series. The stakes are raised, as an all-out war is coming. Faye, who only recently learned of the Ether, a realm where magical beings live. She is still learning how to use her powers, though everyone is looking to her for their salvation. She was imbued with more powers than any other being, and she struggles under the weight of the pressure and the eyes that are always watching her.
She doesn't always do things the right way, she reacts impulsively at times, but it always stems from her heart. She is compassionate, and passionate about the lives that so many see as nothing but the enemy. Faye is very endearing in her imperfections, she doesn't always do the right thing, or say the right thing, which just makes her feel more real and relatable. But through all of her still-human thoughts and emotions, she paves the way through a society that has always been set in their traditions and prejudices, forcing them to see things differently.
Faye and her friends have to try to form allies with other groups of beings, other races, in order to work together in the fight in the up-coming war. Their enemy is strong, and they have to band together. But any time you bring different groups together that aren't used to working together, there's tension. Nicole really hyped up all the tension in this book. Not just between the different groups, but in the relationships as well. Everyone is under stress, and the fear and anxiety is driving the characters to act out.
Nicole Bailey does such an amazing job at making you feel the emotions that are driving the characters, and boy this one sure has some emotion. ALL the feels, the good, the bad, the hurt, the swoony, the beautiful love stories for several characters, I just really enjoyed getting to work through everything with them.
I'm not going to spoil relationship stuff, except to say this book made me very happy, and at times I was just grinning at the sweetness of certain scenes. The ending had me tearing up in the best way. So much has changed for these characters during this book, and I am really excited to see where this series goes in the next one.

4 ⭐ CW: (provided by the author) g*noc!de, violence, PTSD, prejudice, alcohol use, bullying, sexual harassment, death of a parent, homophobia, death, sexual assault mention

Faye and the World's End by Nicole Bailey is book three in the Faye and the Ether Series. This is a good continuation of this story. We get a little more plot this time than last book now that we aren't focusing solely on Faye's PTSD, but it still is a bit slower than I think it needed to be. We spend a lot of time with our characters and their mundane moments, which makes for a nice palette cleanser between tougher reads.

We pick up after the events of the previous book with Faye grieving and still trying to figure out her magic. She's also trying to figure out her feelings for Telanes while poor Marious has to settle for unrequited love. We get a bit more progress with the war between Faye's group of beings and the dragons and sirens under her father, Heracles. We get to meet a few more of beings of the Ether as the Protectors try to gather them to their cause against Typhon and Heracles.

There is a lot here about prejudice and overcoming it for a common cause, and not judging a being solely on the group they belong to. As always with Nicole, it was an emotional rollercoaster there near the end. I am looking forward to seeing how the story progresses, since this book could have served as a final book without feeling like anything was unfinished.

It's been so nice reading her backlog and seeing how much her writing has changed over the years. This is a fun series, and I'll definitely continue reading, but I think I prefer her adult series.

Aptly named, this book was intense!! A lot of emotion, some pretty epic scenes, action, romance, heartbreak… So far Faye and the World’s End is my favorite in the series. I could not put it down even though I really needed to go to bed. Each scene just drew me in. I needed to know what the characters were going to do next, what they were thinking. Like others have mentioned, these characters are more relatable than what you usually find in a fantasy series. They are imperfect, humanly so for non-humans. I would love for Alec to be my friend, and I bet Telanes is a very thoughtful neighbor. I was pretty sure Faye’s strength would be there when it is needed most, but what exactly will that mean for her? Being away from her mom and everything she knew growing up, she seems ready to let go of her own life to ensure others get to go on. I’m not sure I can handle what might come in the next one. What more will the Ether take from her? I needed some tissues to get through some scenes in this book!

I love this series so much and just loved the way she ended things and wrapped it up all while leaving it open for more in the future. Faye finally comes into her own and makes the final transition into adulthood. She realizes her worth and brings things together in the end against all odds.
This series is full of all the struggles of life, the angst, the sadness, joy, hope, fears, and happiness. It teaches that it’s okay to feel and to be one with your emotions but that things continually change and we can’t stay where we are forever, no matter how comfortable or hard.

3.5 stars. I read these back to back so one review for all. Good world building around the girl who thought she was human but is instead a super powerful magic user who can change the world. What I liked was the Faye didn't instantly become a super hero. In fact, she failed several times and suffered from PTSD which seems like it would be a real problem in these stories. Overall message is give peace a chance albeit with a high head count.
