Recruited as babies by a mysterious organization known as the Orphanage, sixteen-year-old twin brothers Bennet and Collin mean the world to each other, even though they’re complete opposites. Collin is training to be a field agent while Bennet is an earpiece, in constant communication with his brother, monitoring his activities and providing computer support from a safe distance.
When a mission goes horribly wrong, Bennet is left bereft, missing his other half. Already introverted, he retreats into himself. In his final statement, Collin urged him to leave the Orphanage, but it’s the only home he’s ever known. Instead, he makes a drastic decision: he’ll fill the Collin-sized hole in his heart by rejecting his computer-focused career path, trying instead to match Collin’s physical prowess so he can become a field agent like him.
Training with Collin’s old girlfriend, Darcy, a skilled assassin, Bennet tries to prove he can be just as skillful with his fists and a gun as at the keyboard, in the face of skepticism from the Orphanage and all of his classmates. As he struggles to succeed, Bennet must question how much he has hurt those around him and how much more important it is to be himself than just a copy of his brother.
When his class is given its final assignment, both his new skills as a field agent and his old skills as an earpiece are put to the ultimate test. Failure could prove fatal, not only to himself but to his fellow agents-in-training—the only family he has left. And as if that weren’t enough, the fate of the entire world hangs in the balance . . .
As the author I am a bit bias. The characters grabbed me right away and took me along for the story. I have read it more than ten times and every time I am in awe of how much the characters go through and their ability to share their heart with their friends. This is a tale of friendship and figuring out who you are, all while growing up in a spy school and running around with tasers.
As one of the test readers of this book I have to say, even when not fully complete this book caught and kept my attention like not many other books have. The characters are all amazing and the story just works. I enjoyed it fully from beginning to end and am excited to read it again when it’s published, as well as the next books to come!
The book was captivating right from the start! Not a hard read, great for the Teen and Young Adult genre. I loved that the author was able to dive into human emotions and vulnerability for such a young age group. Great character development and plot. Everything flowed well together and I had a hard time putting the book down. I’m excited for the next book!
Randomly picked this up from a thrift store a couple months ago, it’s been a good airport/pool read, definitely have to get my hands on the rest of the series to see where the main character goes from there. A really great read, kinda gives off Artemis fowl/ spy kids vibes.
1. I LOVED the book. I don’t think there was ever a part where I was bored. There was always something interesting happening and adding to the entire story. 2. My favourite character is Bennett. I felt like my younger version was similar to him.. surrounded by a lot of computers, a bit shy around girls, and trying to “find” himself. 3. It was definitely a page turner. I didn’t start reading it until a week or so ago because the holidays were so busy, but once I started it was really hard to put down. 4. The style minds me of J.K Rowling. The feelings and emotions I had when reading the first Harry Potter book, I felt the same reading The Field Agent. 5. There are a multitude of characters and they're all so diverse. I feel like anyone reading the book will in someway connect with one. 5. We NEEEED book two! I cannot wait to continue the story. AHHHHH!
Wonderful read! The world-building is detailed and immersive, and the unexpected-yet-not-out-of-character reactions and decisions from Bennet and his classmates feel so whole and real. Twells' matter-of-fact and descriptive writing style was a joy to read and really pulled me into the story.
I particularly enjoyed watching the friendships grow and change throughout the book. I am currently mulling over the potential breadcrumbs Twells has left on the pages to see if I can piece together what happens next, but the twists and turns of the final mission were so unexpected I know I'll just have to keep my eyes peeled for when the second book is done to find out!
This book was so amazing! I’m trying to think of words to describe this book but can’t think of anything. Read this book. I was never bored while reading. Throughout the entire book, I knew I was going to give it five stars. It’s funny with heartfelt moments and action. I loved it
Story and characters were so engaging I could never put it down! Twells perfectly captured the reality of life changes and the impact of decisions in an inspiring and captivating way. Very excited for the next books!
I absolutely love this book. It is so easy to follow and fun to read. The characters are also well developed which makes this book even more interesting. Especially following their adventures.
A heartwarming yet adventerous book, The Field Agent is a fast-paced story that follows Bennet, an agent in process who after an unexpected lost, finds himself trying out new things in order to learn how to move on after such trauma.
The book in itself is addictive in a comforting way, like when you finding yourself eating your favorite snack only to find you finished it in half an hour; it´s as entertaining as binge-watching your favorite show, and even though it´s clear this is just the beginning of a much bigger plot, The Field Agent does not disappoint in giving us lovable characters, great interactions and an important lesson: to never let grief consume you, and that it is not wrong to move on.
If you're looking for a page-turner that grips you right away and keeps you on the edge of your seat, you need to read The Field Agent. The entire concept of children being raised to use their unique set of skills to work as secret agents on deadly missions was utterly fascinating. Each character is wonderfully written with their own unique traits, but Darcy, a fierce assassin who speaks her mind, was by far my favorite character. I loved how she and Bennet handled their shared grief of losing Collin in different ways while working and growing together to achieve Bennet's new goal of becoming a field agent himself. I can't wait to read the next book in this series!
I've followed the author on Tiktok for a little while before the book came out. I had to get it when she announced when the book was out on Amazon, so I did.
I absolutely loved the book.
It played with emotion, was fast paced, nothing I expected and was never disappointed.
I love 01's friendship together, and cannot wait to see how Bennett's relationship with Oliver and Darcy will be. (And Mary 😌)
Overall, this book deserves a full on 5 rating, and it's definitely my favorite book to exist.
This was an enjoyable read. I looked forward to each new chapter, to finding out what adventures Bennet would have next! I am looking forward to the next book, as I got a foretaste of his future mission.
This was such an engaging read and the rawness of Bennett’s feelings was very touching. The end was wild and I’m so intrigued as to what the next one will be about! A fun, action packed book!
4.8 ⭐️ I love this book so much! I have been wanting to read it since August 2021 and I am thrilled that I could finally get to it!
Bennet and Darcy were such relatable characters and I found myself connecting with them on so many levels!
The writing style was so likeable and appealing. The entire time I was reading it I was wondering how the story would end. I recommend this to anyone- regardless if they read or not.
I can not wait for the second book of the Agent Bennet Saga
As a slow reader I was leary of picking up the book-but as soon as I finished chapter one I was very impressed and looked forward to the next and the next and the next chapter. By the end of the book I was caught up in the characters and where they were gonna go next. So looking forward with anticipation as to what comes next with the sequel. So be sure to check it out.
Could not put it down! I loved the short chapters but also hated them because I kept telling myself "just one more chapter", and ended up reading fifteen more!
It is definitely a fun book to read. As English being my second language, the author had an amazing ability to keep me engaged. Really looking forward to see what happens with the story in future books.
