Action-adventure from USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author Amy Vansant - a novel packed with thrills, fun, romance and heartfelt family intrigue.
Life was supposed to start feeling like a permanent vacation.
After years on the run from a vengeful killer, Shee McQueen is home at her father’s beach hotel. The Loggerhead Inn doubles as a retreat for sunburned tourists and a haven for recovering ex-military --- men and women who help right wrongs for people in need of their particular skills.
What could be more relaxing?
Unless...
...Shee’s estranged boyfriend --- the only man she's ever loved --- has discovered her darkest secret and the reason she left him so many years ago...
...or her first job for her father has ended in a double homicide...
...or that her very presence is driving the hotel's regulars to prove their worth by starting dangerous covert missions of their own...
Wait. It couldn't be a botched kidnapping is started looking more like the work of a deranged serial killer?
Hm.
Maybe hold the tanning lotion.
This might take a minute.
The Girl Who Was Forgotten is the second explosive mystery-thriller in the Shee McQueen series, but can be read as a standalone. While the book has all the pulse-pounding action of a thriller, language, romance and violence is rated PG.
The unique female lead's funny, irreverent and all-too-human asides will have you rooting for her — and her whole pack of wild, wonderful misfit friends — until the breathless end.

...That's me. Just sitting over here routing for the characters that Ms. Amy Vansant made me love. This book, The Girl Who Was Forgotten, is the second in the series and Shee McQueen is up to her adventures again with strong supporting characters and villains.
Reading these books is like watching fast-paced, action movies that have comedy and romantic drama sprinkled in. They effectively take you on a rollercoaster ride that you're anxious to get to the end of, but that you also never want to end.
While Shee and Mason investigate a kidnapping two members of the team (well, Mack's team) pull their own disappearing acts and go off to solve cases without letting anyone else know. You'll have to read the book for yourself to find out if they're successful or not.
Last time (in the review from the first book) I told you that all of the different names caused me to stumble a bit while reading, but even though there seemed to be even more characters than in the first book, I didn't get hung up on the names. And, regardless of what Shee or the others are doing I have been happy to be right there reading along. On that note...
You better keep your focus while reading this fantastic novel. The author seamlessly juggles THREE seemingly unrelated mysteries, all filled with high intensity and subterfuge! There are secrets, surprises and lies at every turn, and just when you think you know it all ... well, you really don't!!
Very interesting book. This is the second in a series. I didn’t read the first book in the series but I enjoyed this one very much. Very action packed.
Though this story had many storylines, I appreciated how it came together. I’m also glad I gave this series another shot as this book was more enjoyable than its predecessor!
Oh wow! This author never fails to entertain or create a reverting read that hooks you in from the very start. I just loved this book mainly I think because of the wonderful characters, who in their quirky ways make it so enjoyable. I love the cross over with authors well established Pineapple Port series (which it's self is well worth a read). With so much going on the mystery side was good too. I liked how it all came together and the manipulation that went along with it. Don't worry it's easy to follow along and as it is told by multiple characters perspectives it never slows down. A book that needs to be added to my audio book collection, so I can enjoy it again. With Mick out of his coma things at the loggerhead hotel can get back to normal. Well that is until his friends comes to him for help when his brother goes missing. Can Mick's daughter Shee and he ex boyfriend Mason find him and his wife? At the same time the receptionist come mission coordinator, Cruxi sets out to solve her case when a girl asks for help finding the man who kidnapped her. Can she prove she is just as good as Shee and go it alone? Angelica, Mick's on again and off again girlfriend, also takes on her own case when an employee turns to her with an unique girlfriend problem of his own. Will helping him put her life in danger? I was given this free review copy book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
Author discount 99 Balance of the series is on KU Shee McQueen is a woman of common sense and humor, a lady you are happy to accompany into possibly dangerous waters. A mid-life bounty hunter, Shee is a lady with skills - and pals she served with in the long-ago often hang around her father's Florida Loggerhead Inn and are always willing to assist.
This is the second in a series by Amy Vansant but stands on its own quite well. I am pleased to recommend Vansant to friends and family. She brings us personable protagonists, well-disguised mysteries, and picture-perfect locations.

This is definitely a who's who. Lots of false ID. June, a/k/a Jennifer, a/k/a April is out to find her obsession, Cody. She's actually the wife of one of Mick's friend's brother. Both brother and wife were found dead - but the wife set the whole thing up. She was looking for a way to get the money set aside for business expansion. Then the partner was killed. Croix finds Cody and tells June where he is. Croix meets with him and finds out he's a victim and June is actually April and she killed her mother and sister, who was Cody's girlfriend. He took off and changed his name to hide from her. June walks in on them and kidnaps Croix. When Mason & Shee turn up, June takes Croix intending to get rid of her. Wow - when Mason & Shee turn up again it's take down time. Can't forget that Faith was the assassin behind all the killings and she was stalking Angelina thinking she was involved with her boyfriend. She had killed all the women he was cheating with. Angelina set a trap for Faith and killed her. Come to find out Faith was an escaped serial killer; she was #1 on the wanted list. Then Charlotte enters the picture and Mason is told he has a daughter he never knew about!
This is the second book in the Shee McQueen series but can be read as a stand alone. With Shee's father, Mick, now recovered from his coma and Shee no longer looking over her shoulder, hiding from someone who wanted to kill her for revenge, she is back at her father's beachside hotel, The Loggerhead Inn. The Inn takes in retired and recovering military and her father has his group to help him right wrongs. When an old friend comes to Mick and asks for help because his business partner and wife seem to have been kidnapped, he puts his team consisting of Shee, her ex-boyfriend, ex-military man,Mason, Mick's long-time companion, Angelina and Croix who only wants a case of her own to show Mick how capable she is in motion. Mick and Shee uses Croix for digging deep for information. With lots of intrigue, loads of misleads, red-herrings and characters who aren't who they seem and the appearance of retired FBI agent, Snookie who just happens to be Angelina's sister we are taken on a real roller coaster ride and when you get to the end, you want more! I can't wait until the next adventure of this crew! I received an ARC but the opinions expressed here re strictly my own.
The Girl Who Was Forgotten is the second explosive mystery-thriller in the Shee McQueen Bounty Hunter series. This can be read as a standalone but you get a better understanding of the characters if you read them in order.
The Loggerhead Inn run and owned by ex-Navyman Mick takes in retired and recovering military. Recently reunited Mick and Shee look into an issue of an old friend of Mick’s. He believes his business partner and wife have been kidnapped.
There is lots of intrigue, misleads, red-herrings and characters who aren't who they seem.
We also are introduced to Snookie, a retired FBI agent who happens to be Angelina's sister. This book is a roller coaster and I loved it!
Once again, Vansant brought me to the brink of murder, mystery and mayhem. All of the characters in this series are lovable, hilarious, and crazy brave. They risk everything to help each other and to solve the mysteries presented to them. Mick has chosen his pack, mostly, and they are amazing. although Croix's attempt to put an I in team backfired in a big way, everyone pulled together to help her survive. And the endless humor...just joyful. Bringing this full circle to Charlotte in Pineapple Port is a dream come true.
Loved how this one continued to close the loop with the addition of another case that tied in.
Mason and Shee are still not completely comfortable with each other, but they are working together and that means they can work through the resentment. The case turns out to be a twister. A kidnapping / robbery, a few murders, identity secrets all over the place but a dang good twist.
I like where these are going and we get more information on the ties between this series and the Pineapple Port series.
I love all the books this author has written, and this most recent one has not disappointed. I found it well written, with several unexpected twists and turns, and hard to put down. I like how the author ties in several characters and story lines from some of her Pineapple Port series, as well as the previous book of this series. I enthusiastically recommend this book, along with all of Ms. VanSant’s others. I have found them all enjoyable reads.
Received as a gift from the author's newsletter, this was a WONDERFUL story.
Full of crazy, lovable characters and a fantastic story line....I advise you to begin with "the Girl Who Wants".. but also.......and no spoiler here....FAIR WARNING - alert alert.. alert.. Crossover fans are going to SHOCKED, in a very wonderful way.
This book ties it all together - plus adds a new mystery to enjoy. Shee and Mason get reacquainted; Mason learns about Charlotte; the Loggerheads Inn is attacked and infiltrated... Non-stop action! Ties up loose ends of several plot lines. Don't miss it!
While I realize some may read this book without possibly reading the first, it felt, to me, telling the reader about each character was overkill. However, this was the first mention of the type of pup Mason had. Overall the book was okay, but I felt the ending was very weak, even if was intended to be ‘open ended’ for a possible third.
I loved this. It's funny, quirky, a bit chaotic and definitely has a lot of seemingly separate strands which are eventually woven into one tale. I love all the character interactions and it is truly a great read. This author is so good at creating fun, mystery and intrigue.
Shee finds her Father alive, but weak after being in a Coma. But her ex boyfriend, Mason is here too! Then, there is the matter of their daughter, who doesn't know Shee and Mason are her parents!
I am seriously impressed. So many moving parts, seemingly unrelated. And the ending. Oh my, I loved the ending of the mystery, when it all came together. Awesome. Plus the epilogue. Oh yes, seriously good.
Scatty thrills, mystery mixed with wacky humour from Amy. This time: Her mind boggling twists and turns keeps you reading and engaged enough to want to read the sequel.
I loved the book. Just the fiction I needed to get out of my head. Sometimes too many words can cause aggravation or boredom. The plot was good. I liked the characters.I will continue to read this author
Most cozys don't have actual violence in them but this comes close with more than a couple of bodies left laying around. That said Amy has a way with including lots of humor mixed in with the bodies.
After hiding for so long, Shee is able to live her life. Will Mason ever forgive her? And will they together be able to solve this mysterious kidnapping turned murder case.
I'm currently obsessed with Shee and this mystery series. Characters are fun, lively, loveable and overall people I would love to know in real life. Storyline is great. Enjoy the shenanigans, the action, overall a new favorite!
I enjoyed reading this book. Quick reading and kept me on my toes for the entire story. I like how she summed up all the characters. Nice funny add ins did make me chuckle, so it was hard for me to take the book seriously. All in all, a delightful book, easy and fun read.
Interesting characters and storylines in this series. Quite a few twists and turns in the book, and you find out how everything is connected by the end. Looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
More Dangerous Adventures and Personal Drama This is the second episode in this series. In this episode, no one is who they say they are. From dangerous liaisons to corporate thieves, everything is dangerous. This tale has its humor and ends upbeat. I am really enjoying this series!
