The moment Grace Foster locks eyes with the brutally beautiful underground fighter, she knows her life is never going to be the same. There is something about North Whitlock that makes her temperature rise dramatically, her scruples vanishing into thin air. They are drawn together like magnets, despite their obvious differences. Grace attends a wealthy prep school while North must fight to survive. They don’t make sense as a couple—and her father would never, ever approve of the dangerous brawler. Trying to stop North from seeing his Gracie, though? Not a chance. Staying away from each other when every touch sets them aflame is an impossible feat…but will they survive the explosive consequences?
I am making my way through Jessa Kane’s back catalog. I just read her new adult romance Tutoring the Delinquent so I continued with this older new adult novella.
Not the biggest fan of new adult. The characters are actually seniors in high school. North comes from the wrong side of the tracks and is an underground fighter to support himself and his younger sister. Gracie is a privileged well to do teen who follows her friends to an underground fight where she meets North. Of course there is insta love/lust and North is all kinds of obsessive.
It was a pretty good read. Not as good as Tutoring the Delinquent but a quick smutty read. I do enjoy reading Jessa Kane’s more romantic couple books than just the smutty erotica ones. This is a romantic couple one.
5☆ ❤︎ North & Gracie ❤︎ are cozy-dirty romance perfection.
Comfort reread #4(!) and again giving this amazingly romantic little novella 5 stars. Such a sweet 'n sexy gem that I can always rely on to give me a warm little reset, especially after an unsatisfying read. North and Gracie are precious and I will love them always. You wanna hurt them, I will fight you. Theirs is such a feel-good wrong side of the tracks story with a touch of soul, and it always makes me smile. 🥰
A lot of JK's novellas are fun for a quick minute of OTT fantastical tongue-in-cheek insta-everything, but this one is simply a cut above the rest. It's got the trademark Jessa Kane smut and gentle goofiness but is actually moving and beautiful too--no, seriously!🥹 The gentle way North the underground fighter cherishes Gracie and worships and respects her, the way Gracie sees and admires him, the way they sacrifice for each other and have absolute trust and beautiful communication. Add to that some stupid-hot dominant bedplay with a scrappy, determined, honorable, obsessed, filthy-mouthed Southie boxer and his brave, kind, smart, equally-obsessed girl from the fancy side of the tracks? You’ve got pure fucking magic. 🤌🤌🤌
P.S. Jessa you gotta come back and write something for North's little sis Tulip. pleasepleaseplease. It’s so cute how North takes care of her 🥰
Upon 500th comfort reread—this is the most romantic book I've read in my life and my favorite love story and no I will not be apologizing or elaborating. — I read this novella, like... once a month. There’s just something about it.
Listen. I’m fully aware that I’m taking this way too seriously and it's really not that deep… but this novella just hit the nail on the head for me. It has some hidden x factor that makes it soooo unexpectedly charming. Am I crazy? I swear there's something about this one specifically that's different than all the other JK releases. It's not good in an unhinged-campy way... it's like... good in earnest. It has this romantic, endearing quality.
I love the Innocent High-Society Princess meets Poor Street Fighter From South Boston premise. I love North and Gracie. I love that they’re both so sincere and transparent about their feelings. I love that she’s openly obsessed with his body and we spend more time objectifying him than her. (Thank you, Jessa Kane, for inventing feminism.) I wholeheartedly believe their Love At First Sight connection. They’re just lovesick dorks who want to play house with each other.
4.5 stars: Jessa Kane? Yes please! Now if she would only write a full length book...
... I would stop life and read it lol. If this book was longer, it would have been perfection!
Grace is a girl that is on the rich side and goes to an underground fighting match with a bunch of her friends. One of her friends decides that because he’s a champion, he wants to fight the best fighter there. This is where North steps in. Both North and Grace are 18 years old, and when they make eye contact, their connection sizzles.
This is definitely instant love and Grace and North will do whatever it takes to be together. North fights her friend and wins, and that’s where their relationship begins. This book is hot, sexy, and sweet as well. Graces dad becomes an issue when he finds out that she is dating North. He threatens them and there are other problems that arise, but North is willing to fight for everything to make sure that they stay together, even though Grace is scared.
The intimate scenes were 🥵🔥🙈. This is Jessa Kane so of course we get delicious scenes! I did NOT care for the daddy talk 🙄. I found myself rolling my eyes a lot... it did not make sense. They’re both 18 and Grace calls him daddy but doesn’t know why 🤦🏻♀️. Gah. I had to pretend I didn’t read it that when I came across those parts. I just skipped over the words LOL and kept on reading.
The epilogue was amazing! I love that we get that in Jessa Kane‘s books. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one.
⚠️safety squad⚠️ based on my memory and in JK’s general safety stuff lol -no cheating/sharing/owd/omd -daddy kink
I thought I wanted to read a no sense romance but this was just overly cringey. Actually it kind of was weird for North to be all over Grace infront of his sister but it appears to be a repeated theme in Jessa's book: exhibitionists.
It was so ridiculous that some of the cheesy statements made me laugh. But that is what I wanted: a typical cliche book. And this book achieved it.
"It’s no secret they think I’m a prude. But there’s nothing I can do about that image unless I start sowing my oats—and I can’t seem to locate them. My oats are missing in action."3%
Let me keep it funky with you guys !! This was a mighty fine piece of literature. So fine that I opened it at 2 am half sleep and decided this is the time. I know that’s crazy don’t get me wrong but there is something about JK that makes you drop everything. I am obsessed with North and Grace’s relationship.
Who doesn’t want to be loved 🥰 so aggressively? Whoever says they don’t let just face facts they are liars!!
This book slayed me and then took my heart shattered it. This made me cry because I’ve dealt with the boy from the wrong side of the tracks before. I’ve had the disappointed parents and the threats and I’m here to say he gave me one of the best gifts of my life. My beautiful baby boy is the result of a good girl falling for a boy on the wrong side of the tracks.
Let’s just say I don’t have Grace’s story but I understand this fire and desire and he didn’t have a bad body either.
As always in every piece of fine fiction there are lines that slay me lol
"Instead, he says, “Nah, I don’t gamble with human beings.” He winks at me. “I just wanted her to know you’re the type of motherfucker who does.” -7%
This is when I knew I was going to read this cover fo cover no matter the time. My only regret is I read it too quickly so I had to buy it so I can get a reread in when I need it.
“Making Their Vows” is the story of Grace and North.
A YA smut with a MMA hero from the wrong side of the town, an innocent heroine from an effluent family, Insta love, drama from evil friends and dad, some Romeo- Juliet- esque separation and HEA.
I’m honestly neither a fan of MMA, nor of YA romances hence did not enjoy it as much as the other books. Also weird that she’s calling a teenager daddy lol.
I love Jessa Kane and I’ll run and grab her books the minute I see them come out any day... but this one wasn’t doin’ it for me.
North and Grace are opposites but both are seniors in freaking high school. I don’t want to go on and on about their situation but damn... the minute Grace breaks up with North to save him from her father is when it starts getting all whiny and overdramatic. They’re dying without each other. They can’t live. “Just kill me now because I can’t live without her.” Oh lord. 🙄
Plus the whole Daddy thing wasn’t working for me in this. It just felt awkward and wasn’t hitting me like it usually would. Some of the things they said were hot though. Albeit a little cheesy.
“You’re the only reason I have a cock, Gracie. It gets hard and comes for you. That’s what it does. That’s all it does.”
So yeah. Not my fave Jessa Kane book but I’m glad I read it. Probably around a 3.25⭐️ for me.
°Virgin heroine °Hero's sexual past: °Switching POVs °Both are 18 y/o °Insta love/lust °Very mild daddy kink °Sweet protective possessive OTT alpha hero °No real OW/OM drama °Separation: she broke up with him to protect him and his sister, they were separated for 5 days °No cheating °Intimate scenes only between hero and heroine °Epilogue: 5 years later
I have a new favorite Jessa Kane! Well, maybe tied for first place with Breaking the Bully. North and Grace are fire together, couldn’t love them more. Sigh, they’re such earnest sweethearts. I love a good poor boy/rich girl story and this was lovely!
В принципі сподобалось, але на початку роздратував її «друг» сказавши що вона буде призом (і вона в ахуї стояла), а потім він здав її та чгг її батьку, який теж мені в принципі не сподобався, але якщо не дуже вникати, то майже без дорікань.
This was pretty good apart from the daddy kink just randomly chucked in there but read on anyway. I'm hoping the author doesn't add this to all her books 🤔
loved loved loved, this is one of the novellas that seems like it legitimately happened. like the progression and story felt reel, I just love these novellas because they really are the best parts of a full length novel. Probably my second favourite jessa kane ever (hefty remains first <3)
Okay first off I’m sure there are some people that will love this. To be fair there was parts of it I was like yea this could be something good.
The story starts with Grace and her “friends” and I use that term loosely because their actually a*holes. One in particular thinks Grace is his for the taking. He’s also regional boxing champion and high on alcohol so takes her to an underground fighting club where from across the room she’s noticed by North Whitaker. Ow I’m all for the insta love here and the way North goes all alpha and possessive by smack talking and then fighting for Grace’s phone number. With me so far? Good because I loved it up to this point
A little further along in the story and Grace and North have a moment in the street and it’s all hot and heavy until North gets along well with his car seat. Yep you read that right. He dry humps his car seat.... and here’s where I started to lose it..
Even further along when North and Grace finally take the plunge and sleep together (let me be clear there’s no sleeping involved) and North’s dirty talk turned me the hell off, especially when the use of the word “Daddy” was thrown about - side note that word makes me want to gag when used in the bedroom, physically dry heave.
Any ways so yea then everything takes a turn. There’s even a scene where North desperately sniffs his car seat for a with of Grace’s feline friend while they’re forced apart. So yea that’s about it really.
So if really cringey sex does it for you jump right in, but for me it just didn’t hit the spot.

DAYUMMMM!!! So this one was a scorcher! And a bit longer than her other books—which I’m not complaining about AT ALL—but it helped build character and sorry development, while still packing in pages of steamy swoon
the MCs are young, still in high school, but in different worlds. The H is an underground fighter from South Boston and the h is the daughter of wealth, who goes to a private prep school. Everything is against them, but their souls recognize in the other their mate and nothing can keep them apart, not even the threat of death.
Hero’s past is mentioned but not excessively. He sees heroine and that’s it for him. One girl tries to get his attention by just talking to him and he ignores her. Heroine is a virgin and is claimed completely by hero. No ow drama, but slight OM who tries to cause trouble. No cheating in any way. Heroine comes from abusive family. HEA with epilogue
the fact that Grace would say things like, "I waited for you without meeting you." Which I didn't like because, she doesn't function sexually until she meets him, but does he? Uhum... At least if you're going to write about an experienced hero, don't give me a virgin heroine. Women also get turned on without being in love. But this was a small thorn, I loved the book :)
Story: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Trope: opposite sides of the tracks Angst: 😱😱 Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥
Absolutely loved this opposites attract/opposite sides of the tracks, instalove story. Really sweet novella that's just long enough for you to fall in !I've with these characters. A little eye roll-y in spots (in pure Jessa Kane style) - it was everything I was looking for. Totally hit the spot!
Simply amazing. I have loved every book of Jesse Kane that I’ve read. However, North and Gracie’s story was particularly outstanding. The plot, even being somewhat typical and common, is something I love; in my opinion, you can’t never go wrong with the “rich girl - poor boy” trope. However, what I enjoyed most is the writing itself: I could feel every emotion these characters were feeling, especially North. This added to the fact that he was, in true Kane fashion, extremely obsessed and devoted to the heroine, made the book almost perfect. Grace was an amazing character: she was smart, decisive, and strong despite everything that happened to her. North, too, was great: he was resilient and fought against everything life threw him with humility and positivity. There were no spelling mistakes that I noticed, and the length was appropriate, as it was not as long as I would have hoped but not so short that everything felt extremely rushed.
There's always a moment in JK books where I physically rear back and have to take a minute to absorb what the fuck I just read because the bonkers is so fucking much my brain can't digest it. ... There were only two moments in this book. Probably the fewest in all the JK books I've read so far. ... I kinda missed the crazy. Don't hide your insanity from us JK, don't deprive us like that.
This was sweet as hell, though. Just two idiots who wanna bone each other into eternity. ... And some inanimate objects. You'll get it when you read it.
