From the author of If Clouds Were Sheep comes a new tale of family and the call of the farming life
Young mum and shepherdess Sue Andrews is working hard to make ends meet while she and husband Aubrey raise two small children on their busy farm in the Cotswolds. They have a growing reputation for breeding pedigree Texel sheep, but Sue also has a dream of her own...
She longs to breed and produce sports horses.
Humorous and beautifully captivating, this is the true story of family life on a farm. Full of warmth and determination – and the people and animals who make all the difference along the way.
I really enjoyed Sue’s tales of sheep farming and devoured her first book last year at the start of lockdown so was delighted to see the second one with this time, more tales of horses. I read it quickly, I do like Sue’s storytelling but I thought it felt quite disjointed at times. I wish I could have found out more about her relationship (right down to day to day care and training) with her horses and maybe less about the horses exploits. Overall a nice read. Thank you Sue!
A brilliant sequel to Sue's first book If Clouds Were Sheep. This book is very much focussed on Sue's personal story after the previous book described her shared dream with husband aubrey to become sheep farmers. In this way, this second book in the series feels like a brilliantly honest portrait of a woman in farming. Told with her usual humour and flare for detail. Lovely.

Sue Andrew's previous book was a delight and so is this. Her tales of horses and sheep - she and her husband are renowned Texel breeders - make for a fascinating read. Highly recommended.
I have really enjoyed reading this follow on book the highs and lows the different horses that have come into their live and the amazing tales. They are a lovely couple and lead a very busy lifestyle
