I read book one what seems like a year or two ago, and I was surprised when I saw that not only was book two ready, but book three was as well.
Thanks Amazon author updates.
Surprisingly, because it doesn't usually happen with other authors, all the characters and plots came back to me in the first 5%. Whether that's because there aren't that many characters or because I have a fantastic memory (nope, it's the first one), I'll let you decide.
Elias and Aless are still setting up shop in the old Fox headquarters, and after dismantling the city's leadership, it seems they get a break.
Except, of course, they don't. They travel to another city, which was a nice little road trip, and they stumble upon a couple of new assassinations while there. The first is a rival group of assassins, and while I'm still not sure why Elias thought he had to remove them, he takes it on anyway.
The second target is just as hard.
The series isn't overly complicated, but the world view is well drawn out and it's easy to fall into the world and read until the last page. Character development is lacking (Elias is the best, and so can never really improve while Aless is the up and coming novice), but that's easy to forgive when you're looking for light LitRPG after the latest massive novel from Michael Chatfield.
I had a good time with it, and I plan on reading book 3.
Most to all of the LitRPG elements still feel completely irrelevant. Like, where are all the high level people in this world? Is level 5 seriously considered high level? Even if this world is somehow not a "might makes right" type world, it still just doesn't make sense. It all seems set up to allow the MC to instantly become one of the most dangerous in the world as a level 1 due to his "skills" from earth, which is fine, it's a cool idea to run with, but... Whatever. Let's just say the God that summoned him there plopped him in the noobie zone and whatever else. I'm enjoying the plot enough that I'll continue.
An excellent volume two. Another contract fulfilled, growing powers, and a potential enemy resolved. Progress is slow, levels don't come easily and it takes a while for skills and spells to build in power. That is not a bad thing. I have read, and really enjoyed many series where the levels and skills seem to flow like water. This slower, more gradual approach is a nice change of pace. Great series thus far! Now on the the hopefully thrilling conclusion!
Again nothing to write home about, but the book is well written, full with action, well thought off plot and relatable characters.
The world building is still a bit lacking, and the author seems to put the blame on the fact the MC is from another world and does not know about the world much, but it feels more like creating the world as we go along and not a well-built world the MC works in.
Entertaining and fun as all hell. I was thoroughly entertained by the story and characters that I didn't want to put it down!
The world is intriguing and we begin to learn a bit more about it in the second book, with characters becoming further developed with an engaging and action filled story.
The character development is a bit off, but that is a personal judgement. As to the story, it fits just fine. The additions are well balanced and the overall arc is intriguing.
This turned out to be a great series, was looking for a short distraction but enjoyed it more than a few of the other series I follow. Story is interesting like a medieval 007, but working for the highest

I'm really really loving this series. I have a weakness for Isekai and stories about assassins, so this is perfect for me. Great storytelling and fantastic characters! Well done!
I was forced to give this book a 5 star review under threat of death by paper cut ............. just kidding, great book! Love the series!!! Can’t wait for the next one
