About the author

Born in San Diego, California, Andy Rathbone began writing for newspapers in the early 80s. He started freelancing articles to computer magazines soon after, then began writing the "Windows For Dummies" series in 1992. His books have been translated into more than 30 languages worldwide.

He's since written more than 50 books, with more than 15 million copies in print. Recent books include Windows 8.1 For Dummies, Surface For Dummies, and Windows 8 Tablets For Dummies.

His latest book, the second edition of Windows 10 For Dummies, is available as of November 2016.

Thank God for Dummmy books. They explain in plain English on so many areas of learning. They make it possible to get past the pulling our your hair stage of learning something new and help you become the expert for the next confused and frustrated person. I'm starting to think that most of these "for dummies" books is really written by "dummies." This one has some good information in it but is not put together in great way that one can really learn Vista by reading the book. It turns into more of reference book when you have problems which is not what it is supposed to be. And it isn't even a good reference book.
