In Antartica an alien artefact from before the dawn of human history is about to be released…
Ever since Lauren and the rest of the team activated the Resonancy Generator near Cuba, the radio signature of our planet known as Earth Song has been changed forever. But it’s raised as many questions as it answered, including why the signal didn’t revert back to normal after nearly all the micro minds were all awoken. Could it be there is something else coded into the Earth Song signal and whose purpose hasn’t yet been fulfilled? And if so, does this relate to the buried Angelus secret that lies at the heart of all micro minds?
As the team works hard to discover the truth, it soon also becomes apparent that key data is missing thanks to the destruction of many of the micro minds by the Overseers. In a desperate attempt to seek help to understand the true purpose of the broadcast, Lauren heads back to Jodrell Bank to enlist the help of her old friend and boss, Steve Andrews. Working together with scientists around the world, they must start to put together the clues and discover a way to fully activate the encrypted Earth Song signal.
The time has come for old hostilities to be forgotten and for a new alliances to be forged. But even then, can the allies hold out long from the first wave of an attack to discover the buried secret that holds all the answers to our world’s salvation?
Earth Scream is the sequel to Earth Yell, and is part of the Multiverse Chronicles, an epic series of interlinked stories that includes the Fractured Light trilogy, following humanity’s struggle to survive across parallel universes.
As per previous reviews, the series is very engaging. Lots of excitement and character development. Is Jack a "Nordic" alien species? A speculation I've had since book 1. The series has been almost impossible to put down.
There's a couple of errors that only insufferable geeks such as myself would catch. I like extra science in my Scifi, so it's like an itch you can't scratch when something isn't quite right. Neutrinos have no charge and are nearly without mass. This makes them very difficult to detect because they interact with matter only rarely and by chance. Lead shielded equipment boxes would have to be about a light year thick to stop half of them. Ice Cube detects about ten particles per year by recording cherenkov radiation tracks in ice from particles passing upwards through the planet. The good news is that neutrinos are harmless to people. The other itch; Aurora borealis is very well known in the northern latitudes. In the south, the same phenomena is called Aurora australis. Neutrinos have no charge, so they would not affect the Aurora. If it bothers you as well, just substitute, say, cosmic rays and australis to make the science right and move on.
This set of books is quite a good read. There are some aggravating English problems within it and quite a few typos that suggest a need for an editor. That aside, it’s a good story mostly believable. The main character is a bit over praised so that her character is a bit unbelievable but acceptable overall, I would give it four stars and encourage the publishers to fix the errors.
what a beautiful episode of ghise, citing series , this edition brings together so many threads from the earlier editions. simply stunning can't wait to read the last episode.
This entire series is so vivid that I can actually picture it in my mind. It would make a great movie. Especially like that it's not all battle scenes. Has a great deal of humanity within the storyline.
Too many miracles, but a good read. Every disaster had some miraculous solution that saved the day. But it is well enough written that it keeps you involved.
