Ever since the tragic death of his parents, Porsche’s life has been a balancing act between attending college and bartending to support his younger brother and pay off his deadbeat uncle’s gambling debt. When he witnesses a gang of thugs attacking a handsome young man in the alley behind his bar, he’s reluctant to intervene—until he’s offered fifty thousand baht to help the stranger escape.
The stranger is known as Kinn, the second son of a notorious crime family. Impressed with Porsche’s fighting skills, Kinn hatches a devious plan: hire Porsche to be his own personal bodyguard and he’ll pay off his debt. Porsche doesn’t want any trouble, especially not the kind of trouble Kinn deals in. But Kinn always gets what he wants.
read this in a week right after the first episode aired. this review will be confusing since i am not only in the fandom but following the drama closely and talking about it nonstop 24/7, obsessed. the novel is my guilty pleasure.
for starters, this is so badly written, full of inconsistencies and overall sickening and morally deranged - but i'm obsessed with vegas and can't stop thinking about him. from the moment i wake up until the moment i go to sleep, my brain can only think about vegaspete. am i going insane? is it that i'm obsessed with bible so it transfers to his character? the thing is that this story is good because of fan discussions, because the source material is clearly bidimensional, fetishistic and full of plotholes.
it's brainless media. no need to use your brain, everyone in this is clearly wrong and no relationship is worth pursuing, but since it's fiction you can explore the worst dynamics between people and still be entertained. both kinn and vegas are abusers that are rewarded with their victims falling in love with them, the only difference between the two of them is their methods and that vegas' trauma is spicier than kinn's which leads to spicier abuse, but overall same thing.
there's no mafia action and no criminal activity aside from being serial sex offenders . it's literally a bunch of kids in their early 20s with interpersonal conflicts but since it's mafia they have access to guns. none of the kids have any responsibility and the only time they're seen working for the business it's when they need an excuse to investigate vegas to make vegaspete happen. being a bodyguard is so irrelevant that all of thankhun's bodyguards drank alcohol on duty, no other groups in this story aside from the main and second family make business. the so called "enemies" are never shown.
there's simply no women here. everyone's mom is either dead or gone , and everyone is gay. EVERYONE. we have a single token straight whom i fear, in the next season, may stop being straight altogether since daemi has no intention of making them look in the eyes of a woman. the author couldn't possibly allow porsche to be bisexual and had to make the straight-turn-into-gay trope. i know it's bl and that's why there's not many women, but the absolute lack of it infuriates me so badly.
but the funniest part to me in the whole story is that the moment the sex is consensual, it's simply not in the narrative. the long, excruciating scenes of rape torture you throughout the whole book, but the moment you think they'll finally have nice, consensual, safe sex, it fades to black. it made me miserable. i don't like nsfw in bl - damn it, i am a fucking lesbian - but at some point i was so desperate to something consensual that i'd read literally the most batshit insane kink if it was an enthusiastic consent.
i am, not only losing my mind, but completely lost. even my therapist has heard of kinnporsche. ever since i finished this novel, i don't know what to do with my days. i read this in a single week and couldn't work on my final thesis because i would randomly remember about this and dwell on it for hours on end. my friends have lost me, 80% of the time i am talking about kinnporsche and 20% of the time i'm hoping someone will mention vegas so i can talk more about kinnporsche. i'm sending the bill for my mood stabilizers and antidepressants to daemi.
I started reading the unofficial translation of this book because of the fact that I'm obsessed with Kinn & Porsche but since the official translation is released I'd rather read the official one. The number of times Porsche used the word "bastard" (994 times) drove me crazy and I don't have enough patience to continue with the unofficial translation 😭.
After spending the better half of a year trying to get my hands on a proper English translation of Kinn Porsche , imagine my excitement when it was announced that Bible (Vegas) would be doing the official translation. Fast forward to today, a new app (Meb) and a card payment later , I sit in awe. The translation was impeccable. I thought it did Daemi's amazing story justice. Only Story 1 of 4 is currently available with the official translation (heartbreaking, I know) but I think it was worth the 24 dollars (ouch!) I had to spend on it. About the story: This is far from the usual Engineering/Architecture College BL ( Although the leads are technically still in Uni (Business and Sports Science). It's a world of crime, kidnapping, debauchery (I'm running out of commas here) and yes, it's all toxic. If you begin this journey with an open mind and the reminder that it is, in fact ,fiction... you will love it.
PS: Extremely excited for the show. I applaud the casting directors.
Perhaps I was naive. I like the show and I thought the book would be half decent. Really bad writing, lame plot, the characters are terrible and the smut scenes are uncomfortable.
DNF at 12% which is more than I should've given it according to friends who enjoyed the drama. I'll try that instead. This was...atrocious. Written in an erratic, stream of consciousness way, the book jumps around like no narrative structure I've ever seen. It gave me mental whiplash and I think my ADHD doesn't like trying to keep up. Kudos to the author for getting the money for drama rights for such a mess!
(Adoro tanto a mi bebé🥺)
I'm literally so obsessed with this, enemies to lovers 🔛🔝 Porsche is so fine and Kinn, too ahhh I can't everything is so good and the live action was also a masterpiece 🤩🔥
Uhhhhh i call bullshit????? It's 6 am and i stayed up all night to finish this and this is my repayment?????? I was never known to make good decisions update:you know what ???? i'm actually mad enough to rave
Porsche i don't know how to tell you this but YOU NEED TO RUNAWAY
can you believe this fucking dumbass STAYED with the family who murdered his? he had amnesia and then remembered who killed his father In front of him may i add(by his uncle) and while deciding to get revenge another thing was revealed: the other uncle RAPED his mother which led to her suicide. Porsche's mother turns out to be the mafia family's adopted daughter. everyone's like SIGH well that's resolved now since kim and kinn aren't porsche and porche's ACTUAL cousins they can continue to be in a "relationship" (i'm saying the word relationship very lightly here)
first of all, no??????? they're related??? still cousins???? are you saying and adopted sibling isn't an actual sibling??? what kind of bullshit is that??? and second of all, your father just confessed to have been the cause of your boyfriends' entire family's murder, and what you're concerned about is whether or not it's still morally and socially acceptable to fuck them????????
anyway kinn's dad kills the rapist brother but when Porsche turns a gun on him to kill him kinn throws himself in front of his dad and is like Hey everything's resolved now, he promised to take care of you and took you into the family bluh bluh bluh if you love me don't do this or else you'd be destroying me and i'm like WHAT KIND OF GROOMING HELL DID I STEP INTO??
not to mention kinn's absolute disrespect toward Porsche. withholding information from him all the time and stopping him from participating in anything or leaving the fucking house, isn't that gatekeeping??? basically raping him (bc he says no but kinn NEVER stops) and never listening to him. accusing Porsche of cheating left and right, acting miserable to make Porsche feel guilty when he FINALLY AND RIGHTFULLY makes a stand for himself??? porsche leaves the house after catching kinn with another guy and leaves, he's like you know what i've had enough and i'm going to resign (which is where the story should've ended so my man could go find someone who is actually worthy of his time) but this absolute psycho follows him to his friend's dormitory and yells and breaks things and is like how dare you leave? who allowed you to leave?? and i'm like oof red flag
i'm not done yet: turns out this asshole has sent people to STALK Porsche. porsche can't even breath outside, in university he has to look around so he won't run into this bastard and still he does and kinn makes accusation of him cheating (bc this other guy is helping hi0 and is like you couldn't even wait to be out of public cause you're a whore. i s2g every time he opens his mouth i just *fart noise*
did i mention that he keeps information from porsche??? yeah he keeps them only to reveal them when it's beneficial for HIM. Porsche find out some things through Vegas and when he goes home as usual Kinn accuses him of cheating of him and ordering him not to hang around Vegas as usual (bc he's a stalker and knows where Porsche goes or who he's with) and Porsche is rightfully angry telling him that he never listens AND this fucker just goes "yeah i told you not to hang around Vegas and not to listen to anything he has to say bc you know what?? remember that one time you got drugged and nearly raped? that was Vegas"
AND I'M JUST HERE SCRAMING AT PORSCHE TO GTFO THAT PLACE.THIS IS ABUSE. THIS IS GASLIGHTING. HE DIDN'T TELL YOU A VERY IMPORTANT THING THAT CONCERNED YOU AND YOUR SAFETY, KEEPS CALLING YOU A CHEATER AND A WHORE AND NEVER LISTENS TO YOU WHEN YOU'RE EXPLAINING YOURSELF OR TELLING HIM NO (REGARDING SEX OR ANYTHING ELSE), HIS FATHER MURDERED YOURS AND YOUR S T I L L THERE?
the amount of braincells i lost during this. i can't afford to lose any more, i'm taking my finals, have mercy 😭😭😭😭😭

I spent a whole week reading all these 4 books, since I'm obssessed with the tv series. It surprised how good the books are. It's not the fluffy type of book I read most of the time and it has some dub-con, non-con scenes between the main characters but I still loved it, just keep in mind that it's fantasy and mafia. The ending is so sweet for everyone. ♥ Btw, the actors in the series are perfect as described in the books, this whole universe is amazing.
I read this book because I'm watching the series, but this book is just so bad. I'm glad they made the changes because this is the worst mafia book i have ever read, the mafia leaders are so immature to be leader, the characters are just so annoying. I don't know if its because of the translation but the writing was so bad. There's too many plot holes too. There were scenes that I enjoyed but overall this book is not worth reading at all. The series is so good they made a lot of changes that fits the mafia theme so I'm so disappointed about this book because I was expecting to be just as good as the adaptation.
Why I've read this? Simple, I started watching Thai drama adaptation and I wanted something to fill in the gaps in between the cuts. Because as we know, some things from novel gets cut out or even some scenes are completely changed. Same goes with adaptaion of this series. So, I thought having read it I'll have a better understanding of the series. For everyone who thinks of reading it - let me tell you. It's not a cute, fluffy BL novel. It's dark and raw, we see torture, death, gore and many more things. So please keep that in mind going in. The characters are so complex. But the motives and all the broken pieces gets more clear as the story goes on. And I think we get even more in book 2. I did enjoyed it, but maybe I am a bit biased as I was already super excited for the drama.
"This book portrays a boss-employee romance, but I must warn you about the problematic development of their relationship. The mafia boss, Kinn, already harbors feelings for his bodyguard, Porsche. One day, Porsche is kidnapped and found unconscious, drugged, and bearing bite marks from an attempted rape. In this vulnerable state, Kinn proceeds to have non-consensual sex with Porsche, well RAPEs him. Somehow, their love supposedly evolves from this traumatic event. It's incredulous to suggest that someone could fall in love with their rapist, and it's far from normal.
Adding to the complexity, at the time of the assault, Porsche identified as straight while Kinn identified as gay. Kinn's defense is that he sought consent from Porsche, albeit from a drugged individual, which hardly justifies the situation. An apology afterward is presented as a resolution, which is utterly inadequate.
This scene is not the only one necessitating a trigger warning; the entire narrative is rife with such instances:
1. Kinn's ongoing sexual harassment of Porsche in the workplace, initially passed off as teasing but later recognized as a serious issue once Porsche learns of Kinn's sexual orientation. Regardless of sexual preference, harassment remains unacceptable.
2. The relationship between Vegas and Pete, which could have been portrayed realistically, is instead sensationalized. It begs the question: was it Stockholm syndrome or Lima syndrome?
3. The revelation that Kinn and Porsche are step-cousins, reminiscent of the movie 'Clueless,' may appeal to some fans but adds another layer of discomfort to an already problematic storyline.
The issues persist even more in the book compared to the drama adaptation. In the translated English book version I read, nearly every sexual encounter between Kinn and Porsche is depicted as forced, with Kinn exerting dominance over Porsche. Such depictions of coercion are presented as romantic and arousing, which is deeply troubling.
'KinnPorsche' fails to showcase healthy relationships. While some may argue that such portrayals are typical in dark romances, it's concerning to see some readers perceive this toxic affair as romantic and acceptable. It's essential to recognize and critique narratives that normalize harmful dynamics."

Lectores: ¿Cuántos plot twist tiene el libro? Autora: SI 😎
2,5 stars (the first two books) Not gonna lie, i'm really annoyed by how enjoyable this novel was. It has great characters (they are so well done, that I actually love most of them very much), also they share great dynamics so it's easy to get into the plot and get excited for the interactions. But that's all. I get that it's a dark romance, and i'm fine with dark themes being introduced (as long as is well reported to the reader), but it pisses me off how the portrait of abuse was relative. It really depends of who was the aggressor to be counted as abuse, every time a character that we are supposed to love forces himself on someone it was treated as a joke (or the problems that came with it was not about the abuse itself, but other stuff). The horrible part was how the characters were all very direspectful to those victims, just naturalizing everything and moving on. Also, it has some obvious plot holes, decisions that just don't make sense and a looot of conveniences. But it doesn't bother me that much (I enjoy characters over plot), still pretty evident tho.

I knew what I was getting myself into in terms of toxicity and violence, but the rape scenes still made me cry because of how traumatizing they were. How could you have something like that happen between your male leads and give them a happily ever after with each other? This book is honestly quite gross and at some point I was asking myself why I was even still reading it. Kinn is fucking insufferable fr! I really only read this to get to VegasPete and while I absolutely don’t condone the shit that happened & thought it was horrible & disgusting, when Vegas turned soft I couldn’t help but feel for him. I hate to admit it but I did kind of like their story (just the nice parts okay don’t come for me). anyway still giving this 1 star, it certainly doesn’t deserve more than that, and I would highly discourage you from reading this okay bye
Stopped at like, 30% in ? Couldn't do it. I'm sure the translation doesn't help, but it does feel like, even without considering the language barrier, the book's writing is just so....so....plain bad. I don’t know how this became a phenomenon. The main character is stupid at best, vain and vapid at worst (which, for a MC is a cardinal sin). The characterizations are all over the place, Kinn being introduced as a “boy”, unable to fight and defend himself, and a few chapters after he easily overpowers Porsche and he’s suddenly a force of nature. I have no idea how to picture him (apart from having a smug smirk on, always). They’re insufferable, both of them. The rape plot line is all over the place too. I understand it as a power fantasy, believe me, I read a ton of fanfics, I do. But the writing is so piss poor nothing about it is sexy. The whole thing is just sad.
This book really raise my bar for bls .. Literally the best book i have read till now although there were parts were i got frustrated so much that I just wanted to be in the book and slap kinn once just once 🤭🤭 and the Vegaspete part oh my godddd there chemestry is no joke .. ah i don't have words for them they literally drive me crazy with their words and actions... Loved this book with the bottom of my heart ❤️
first time i'll say that the tv show is better than the book 💀 kinn is an absolute asshole in these (spoiler for the first time they sleep together but WHY THE BLOOD?). could be just because it's a translation that it doesn't read as well as it would if I could read it in Daemi's writing. grateful for bible's translation though, ily Bible <3333. so glad the cover art isn't what the boys actually look like in the snow 😭🫶
Time y Tay: solo tengo algo por decir... I can be a better boyfriend than him.
Don't mind me, I know how bad it's at the start, ok? But...
