The Dynasties #1

London Dynasty

Rate this book
Kerrigan Belmond has everything I don’t have. A name that opens doors, more money than god, an Oxford education, and rumors that she’s caught the eye of Spencer Byrd, the heir to one of England’s most powerful aristocratic families. I’m an orphan, running from a tragedy I can’t face. Being mistaken for her is flattering until her father arrives at my door with an indecent proposal.

His daughter has fled her perfect life, and he wants me to step into her shoes until she can be coaxed back to her pedestal.

The arrangement is simple. For one year, I will be Kerrigan Belmond. The perfect daughter. The charming socialite. The ideal future wife. For one year, I will do anything she would do. And for one year, I will keep the attention of Spencer at all costs.

I can’t say no, but as soon as I meet Spencer and his brother I realize the mistake I’ve made. To the outside world, the Byrds are London society and Spencer is the golden boy groomed to become prime minister. Behind closed doors, his family is as twisted and tangled as the web I’m walking into.

Spencer demands loyalty. He expects discretion. And he’s ready to claim the woman he’s been promised in every way. Keeping him happy means I might lose more than a year of my life, but I can’t turn down the proposition. Not with what the Belmonds have promised me in return.

They say everyone has a price. I know mine.

Ten million pounds.

London Dynasty by Geneva Lee is the first book in a trilogy and it was very sexy, captivating, and shocking. The story seems simple at first: A young woman who looks exactly like a missing heiress is hired to be her replacement. However, it gets incredibly complex when feelings are involved and she is forced to seduce the heiress' fiancé. Things get even more complicated when said fiancé has an identical twin brother. The plot is dramatic but it kept me interested and invested. The love scenes were also sensual and erotic and the tension was always palpable between Kate and Spencer as well as Kate and Holden.
"Someday we would set each other free. It was a lie. It was the truth. It was everything."

Kate is an orphan who has been struggling her entire life to make ends meet. The book picks up when one of the bar's patrons mistakenly recognizes her as someone else. He rudely takes a picture of her and Kate is shaken by this event. The next day, an older man shows up to her apartment and makes a proposition she cannot ignore: Pretend to his missing daughter for a year in exchange for 10 million pounds. Kate is a likeable heroine because she is conscious of her actions as well as the rippling effects it could cause to Kerrigan and others. As always, the "romance" was my favorite part of this book. It shocked me because Kate not only gets introduced to Spencer but his twin brother Holden as well. Like Kate, I am personally torn between the two. What makes it even more difficult is that Spencer and Holden are both very different despite looking the exact same.
"That's the thing about lies. Sometimes they get mixed up with the truth."

In the end, I absolutely can't wait to read Cruel Dynasty because the book ends in a shocking cliffhanger between Kate, Holden, and Spencer. There are still so many secrets that need to be uncovered and I have so many questions: Where is Kerrigan? What is Spencer hiding? What does Holden know? I highly recommend this book to those who love the arranged marriage trope with a twist because it has a heroine who is a doppelganger, twins, and two different potential romances. I don't know what will happen next but I am looking forward to it!

Omg, I just finished this at 4:33 am. Also first 5 star read of 2022!!! FINALLY 😭😭😭

Kate is working a hard, monotonous existence as a pub waitress when she's discovered by a rich man to be the doppelgänger of his socialite daughter. He offers her 10 million pounds to pretend to be his daughter for a year and secure the engagement to a wealthy young man who will likely be the next prime minister. Oh, to be Kate! Honestly, Kerrigan had a nice life. Unlimited money, a hot betrothed, no need to work. Seriously, she doesn't work and isn't looking for any sort of career. The question is why did Kerrigan then leave in the first place?

When Spencer proposed to Kate in the bathtub, I was afraid the ring was going to fall down the drain lol. Also, one thing I wrote in my Kindle notes, was how come they have the same bra size too? I can imagine them looking the same, facially, but all the same measurements too??

I got this book free off Amazon in a "V-Virgin Romance Collection". I was debating whether to purchase it (even though it was free), and I'm so glad I did!! If only to get my first 5 star read of 2022 lol. Sometimes it pays to take a chance on books ;)

P.S. There may or may not be a love triangle. And there's almost one mfm scene too!

I loved the premise of this book but this wasn't for me.
The Hero is a twin and they share their women, so it's a constant flirt with both and even be intimate with both at the same time.
The heroine was a virgin.
Also one of the first scenes when the heroine meets the family for the first time one of them is having sex with another woman in the loo and the heroine hears it all and she is jealous.

Trilogy.
Cliffhanger ending.

"I won't ever need to force myself on you, because you're going to give yourself to me in every possible way freely. . . wantonly."

Geneva Lee once again delivers a lush world fueled with passion and lust. London Dynasty is breathtaking and emotional, refreshing and riveting-forbidden. This book is filled with spine tingling goodness you’ll ever want in a juicy and epic romance. Right from the beginning my emotions ran high as we learn learn a young woman is hired to play the role of the missing socialite. But things get rather complicated when she is forced to play seductress on the heiress’s fiancé. However things take a drastic turn when her supposed fiancé has an identical twin brother. This book is sexy, intense and so full of twists and turns it made my head spin. The slow burn was achingly delicious, and it had me clinging to every moment, move, touch and exchange between Kate and Spencer.

Kate has been alone all her life, being an orphan and struggling to make ends meet as a bartender. Until one of her patrons mistakes her as the infamous socialite Kerrigan Belmond. Everything changes when Kerrigan’s father appears at her door and offers her ten million dollars to pose as his daughter, because the arranged marriage between the Belmond & Byrd family must happen. Kate is thrust into a lush world of wealth, luxury and the Byrd brothers are nothing but short of a mystery.

I was beyond shocked by the ending. The cliffhanger between Kate, Holden and Spencer left me utterly speechless. There are so many secrets left uncovered that I can’t wait to be revealed in Cruel Dynasty.

Geneva Lee sure knows how to deliver a world of rich and powerful people where lust, love, passion and everything comes together. London Dynasty is full of sharp twists and nuclear hot chemistry. It kept me on the edge and left me asking me more.

Kate was living a financially stressed but simple life as a bartender in a pub in Berkshire. Everything gets turned upside down when a bunch of drunk people mistakes her as socialite heiress Kerrigan Belmonde. And Kerrigan's father appears at her door step and offer her ten million dollars to pose as Kerrigan. Because Kerriagan is missing and they need Kate because the arranged marriage between Kerrigan and politically influential Byrd family's son Spencer has to go forward. She is thrown into this unknown world and Spencer Byrd is an enigma..so is his brother Holden.

This story is told from Kate's POV. The author perfectly captured her confusion and dilemma when she has to merge with a completely new world. This is the world of wealth and power and social positions are everything. Every person is a pawn in a bigger game. Two families are eager to be united for money and power but no one is worried about Spencer and Kate's feelings. Kate is a simple and kind girl and I would say she faced the challenges quiet well. On the other hand, I am completely obsessed with Spencer. From my previous reading experience, I know the author writes some wicked alpha heroes and she didn't disappoint me at all. He has a dark and edgy vibe. Arrogant. Bossy. He can be light and witty but I am here for his dangerous personality. No wonder Kate couldn't resist him..no hot blooded woman can. He has a hidden part that is brutal and hard and that's extra fascinating. He played Kate's body like a marionette and I wonder what secrets he is hiding. The chemistry was amazing and the "relationship" proceeded very fast. But what will happen if Kate's deception comes out? What is the game plan of Spencer's identical twin brother Holden? Kate and Holden do have a magnetic pull..will it go forward or break down?

London Dynasty by Geneva Lee is an excellent beginning of what I feel will be an explosive trilogy! Dramatic. Sensual. Emotional.

When I started this first book of this new series, I could tell that that it was going to have me hooked and it did not fail my expectations. In this new series we meet Kate, a poor young commoner discovers that she is a doppelganger for a rich socialite - Kerrigan Belmond who has run off from her life without a trace. She then is approached by Kerrigan's father to play the role of the real Kerrigan so that an arraigned marriage will take place in exchange for a hefty sum of money. Kate agrees to the charade but soon discovers that she may be in over her head -especially with her new soon to be fiancé, Spencer Byrd, or his twin brother Holden. As Kate/fake Kerrigan get to know Spencer, she finds that she is developing feelings for not only Spencer but possibly Holden too and she goes on a quest to discover the reason that the real Kerrigan has fled her life.

The chemistry between all of the characters - Kate, Spencer and Holden was off the charts. The dynamic between these three characters kept me on my toes and curious as to what will happen with as well between them. The secrets that are being kept in this first book of this series has me hooked on this story. I can't wait to see what will happen next with this tale. If you don't mind that this first installment ends on a cliffhanger and can wait to see what happens then this is the book for you as I now anxiously wait to see what will happen next.

After being hooked on Geneva Lee’s Rival’s series, I was desperate to dive into a new series from the author. The Dynasties sounded like it would be another series filled with twists and turns, and I was eager to dive in.

I’ll be completely honest and say this isn’t quite a full four-star rating. It’s a strong three-point-five, but I did enjoy it and opted to round up. It was a quick story that I powered through in no time, eager to see how the pieces came together, and was left desperate for the next book. It is a story that has filled my mind with theories, one that has me questioning plenty, but it didn’t quite have enough twists and turns for me. My hope, however, is that they are more prevalent in the future books and will suck me in deeper.

All in all, London Dynasty was an addictive start to The Dynasties series. It wasn’t quite everything I had expected, but it certainly promises plenty for the future of the series.

When Kate is mistaken for heiress Kerrigan and she strikes a deal to pretend to be her she steps into a world she’s not prepared for especially when she meets “her fiancé” and his brother as the fake Kerrigan. She knows she needs to play the part no matter what but she quickly learns that not everything is as golden as it seems. Looking forward to more

"I'd rather die fighting for you than live without you."

London Dynasty is the first in a trilogy by author Geneva Lee, and it's full of secrets, lies, forbidden attraction, and sensuous seduction.

Kate is a young 23 year old woman, working as a waitress to make ends meet. Her uncanny resemblance to missing heiress Kerrigan Belmond means that the heiress' father has come calling. Tod Belmond offers Kate 10 million pounds to pose as Kerrigan, whose engagement to Spencer Byrd will unite two powerful and wealthy families. Kate couldn't resist this amount of money, especially since she doesn't have anyone in life to depend on. Her transition into Kerrigan's life isn't all smooth, but she has Kerrigan's personal assistant Giles and Kerrigan's stepmother Iris to help her out. I truly like Kate as a character; she works hard, is kind to others (I love how she's always willing to support Evie), and though her job may be to seduce Spencer, she can't help but genuinely fall for him. Kate sees beyond the façade of the man who has to uphold his family's tradition and values, the pressure to be an upstanding citizen, to a more romantic side. I think we see glimpses of this in his interactions with Kate and when he talks about Kerrigan. Added to this complicated relationship is the fact that Spencer has a twin brother, and while they both look alike, their personalities are drastically different. Holden's more rebellious, a rake who doesn't care much for rules or expectations or maybe even love. Kate feels an attraction to Holden too, although it's indescribable why she feels this way. It's a carnal need for a woman who's never experienced much passion or longing for someone in her life, who's confused and surprised but also willing to maybe pursue these feelings. The ending left me so curious about what Holden and Spencer know, and what kind of game they're playing with Kate!

Ahhh this book kept me glued to my screen! The premise just begs for drama to occur, and it didn't disappoint. Kate's just a normal girl, living a working class life, barely making ends meet, in a small town in England. When she's propositioned by a wealthy man who wants her to step in and "pretend" to be his daughter (who she looks identical to), she'd be crazy to turn it down. The big secret? He wants her to also pretend to be engaged to a man and save the marriage of convenience that his daughter Kerrigan fled from.

I loved Kate's character. She was quirky and sometimes made cringeworthy decisions, but as a gal who's down on her luck, I think she's handled everything perfectly.

Spencer presents himself as a witty yet sincere guy. All Kate needs to do is keep him interested in Kerrigan, yet when real emotions get involved, you've got to wonder just got things will play out. He's bold and had a dirty mouth that I couldn't help but love.

This book ends on a wicked cliffhanger and I can't wait for book 2!

This was such a fast read for me. Kate seems like a down-to-earth girl just trying to make ends meet working in a pub. A couple of guys come in and mistake her for someone named Kerrigan Belmond. Fast forward, she is hired by Kerrigan's dad to play her for a year and in the end, she'll get ten million pounds. She also is supposed to be engaged to Spencer Byrd and she is to make sure this relationship works.

Spencer has an identical twin who is named Holden. The chemistry between them all is really high. There are definitely a lot of secrets throughout this book. I'm already trying to guess what will be happening in the next book.

This ends in a cliffhanger that left me really starting to wonder what on earth is going to happen in the next book. Can't wait for the next book!

Okay I have to start this by saying, we have to wait till July for the next book?! After that ending it’s going to be a torturous wait, but I mean that with all the love. Geneva Lee is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. The way she pulls you into the story she has written is just amazing. This book is no exception with all of the secrets and unanswered questions. I need answers! Kate walks into a situation that would be hard to pull off, but does an excellent job. Or does she? Spencer seems like he’s a decent guy and that he could care for Kate/Kerrigan but I don’t know how I actually feel about him yet. Then there’s Holden, holy hotness in the form of a destructive bad boy. This book is so good and an excellent start to this series. I’d definitely recommend it!

Okay I mean like can I get book 2 please..Cliffhangers are the devil haha. I did enjoy this because Kate was a woman that was not having any luck except she just so happen to be the doppelgänger to a heiress that was set to marry Spencer Byrd. The original Kerrigan just ran off and did not want to "hold up her end" so her father approaches Kate with the proposal of acting like his daughter and she will get paid handsomely. I mean how could she refuse..but the only problem is that she thinks she may actually fall for Spencer. And the twist and turns I was clinging onto every page. I cannot wait to see what is going to happen.

Firstly, this storyline was one of the most unique I've ever seen. Geneva Lee knocked it out of the park!

Kate, pretending to be socialite Kerrigan Belmond, is literally living "how the other half live". It's hard to talk about the story without giving away too much because there's just so much going on! But I will say that this new series already has me hooked and the cliffhanger left my jaw dropped.

And of course it's sexy af, including a scene of acts Lee has never written before.

I'm on edge for book 2!

Full disclosure. I am a Geneva Lee fan. I love Clara and X (Command Me) more than almost any other pair out there in Romance-land. I like knowing I can count on Lee to deliver a good story, one with a enough twists and turns that I stay engaged, and there is always some super sexy scenes. And now, I am so excited for this new adventure into the Royals world. London Dynasty is in the same realm as the typical Royals we've come to love, but this is a whole new side to the complexity and reality for the Londonites.

Kate is a down on her luck waitress who happens to look a lot like an heiress. A missing heiress. And, the family needs that heiress to seal a financial and social deal between two of the elite families in London. Kate agrees to pose as Kerrigan Belmond while the Belmond family continues their search. Only potential issue--other than how Kate will spend her millions--is she needs to pretend to be engaged to a gorgeous, rich heir. No problems ahead right? Millions to play the heiress, an incredible break for a poor waitress. Except, her ruse includes sleeping with Kerrigan's fiance, and maybe falling in love.

The chemistry between Spencer Byrd and Kate is clear from the start. And yet, a wrench is thrown into the situation when Holden, Spencer's twin brother, is also sexy as heck. Kate (as Kerrigan) is drawn to both men in inexplicable ways, and while she is innocent to many of the things the two men want her for, she's able to hold her own when the two push her. In all fairness, it isn't that hard of a push, because Kate is set to make the most of her time as Kerrigan.

Sure, wearing Kerrigan's sassy wardrobe can mask some things, but there is something off about the whole situation and the easy answers are not being revealed. More and more, Kate becomes aware that there are many more moving pieces to the situation, and she may not come out of this time with her heart intact. This is the storylines where Lee shines--the complex twists and turns ahead, are clearly leading to devastation and heartache.

This book is hot. There are some absolutely delicious moments that steam up the pages. Lee has left us with a major cliffhanger and July 27th can't get here fast enough.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Woah.

I wasn't sure what to expect going into this book. Geneva Lee is a new author to me but the blurb had me intrigued and I'm a sucker for an arranged marriage trope, so I signed up.

We begin the story with Kate who is struggling to make ends meet waiting tables at a pub. A drunk patron mistakes her for someone and takes her picture and the next day, the father of said someone is knocking on her door with an offer she can't refuse.....pretend to be his daughter for a year for 10 million pounds (roughly 15 million dollars for people in the US).

His daughter, Kerrigan, disappeared and we have yet to know why but it seems like alot of people are keeping secrets. Her new stepmom is only a few years older than her and while Kerrigan disapproved of her father marrying her after his first wife drowned, Kate is befriending her. Her betrothed Spencer has a twin, Holden, who is defintely the more devilish of the two and I don't blame her for being attracted to both....they are identical!

A whole other cast of characters are come into Kate's life as she pretends to be Kerrigan, while only a few people know who she actually is. This book grabbed me from the first chapter and I couldn't put it down. The chemistry, lust and tension is palpable as you try to figure out what is really going on and who really knows or is hiding something.

It does end on a cliffhanger and is the first of a trilogy!

FIVE STARS! Geneva Lee really knows how to dive into the world of the rich and powerful. Where sometimes a marriage is just a good business transaction!

London Dynasty is everything I hoped for, and more! I find the story quite intriguing, it has the hole "La Usurpadora" vibe (if you don't know what it is, it's a Mexican telenovela and you should definitely check it out! LOL).

I'm a fan of Geneva Lee and how she builds her stories, they are super hot and sexy, but they also have a good plot line. It's about the story, but the hot parts complement it! And it wasn't different with London Dynasty. The heroine, Kate, is very relatable and in her place, I'd be as conflicted as she was. After I finished the book, I kept thinking about what I'd do in her place, so for me that's a sign of a good read, and a good character.

Spencer and Holder... what can I say besides HAWT. I had a feeling about what the story would delve into, and I was happy when my hunch was right. But I didn't know what it'd entail and Geneva got more points there! I'm quite conflicted about those too and I'm very curious about what Genevas Lee is going to do about it.

Both of the Birdy brothers have everything I love about a book boyfriend. They're charming, hot as hell, and they're also quite intriguing. So they've kept me invested in the story. So far the jury's out about them. When I had my mind set about one of them, the other surprised me. And that happened more than once, which is part of why I liked this story so much.

I can't wait for the next book, I want to know more about Kerrigan and the secret about her, I want to see what Kate does next and I want to see how she unravels this web she's got herself into. And I want to see more of Spencer and Holden.

“Life isn’t worth living if you don’t do something crazy now and then.”

This book isn’t anything that I had anticipated. There are several twist and turns. Secrets. Surprises. Subjects that test your scruples.

“”It scared me.” “I didn’t mean to make you afraid,” he murmured, hanging his head. “No, it scared me because I liked it.””

There was a bit in the middle of the story that I wasn’t sure about...I’m glad I powered through...the ending really drew me in and has me very excited with where this series is going.

“Let them underestimate you, but never forget the power you hold. If they think you’re a pawn, you have the upper hand. A queen moves freely. Don’t forget that.”

When offered a once in a lifetime opportunity...seeing how others live isn’t always what you expect...once on the inside you may find yourself wishing for an escape...gives this expression “less is more” a new meaning.

“We both had secrets, ones we weren’t willing to share, but in some unspoken way, we admitted to them and made a promise that one day we would strip off all of our armor. Someday we would set each other free.”

I didn’t realize I was headed for a cliffhanger and now I’m anxiously awaiting Book two, Cruel Dynasty!

“You are going to measure your life by the moments of pleasure I give you.”

Combine a case of mistaken identity with British high society, a somewhat indecent proposal, and a sinfully alluring eligible bachelor, and what do you get? Geneva Lee's new series, that is!

Kate, a young, poor waitress in a small town outside of London, bears a striking resemblance to a rich socialite heiress, who has “run off to avoid her responsibilities". The heiress' father offers Kate a hefty sum to take her place until she returns. Seems easy enough, right?

Well, she's immediately thrust into London's elite society. That's daunting enough, but she also has to make sure her would-be fiancé doesn't lose interest. She has to keep heiress Kerrigan's interests in mind without risking her own feelings. Tricky, tricky...

I found Kate very likeable. She's struggled most of her life (although the details are left unsaid for now) and suddenly finds herself surrounded by wealth beyond her comprehension. She understands the complexities of her arrangement and finds herself trying to do what Kerrigan would do, although she doesn't know the girl. She hardly has anyone to confide in, which must be very difficult.

Spencer and Holden... so similar, yet so different. I think Kate is a bit out of her depth with them. I'm also not sure yet what to make of either of them.

Eagerly looking forward to the second book to find out what happens next!

Omg... such a fantastic book!!

This is going to be a great series I can already tell. I'm already trying to figure out exactly how Kate looks so much like Karrigan and which brother she'll end up with... Is she a long lost daughter?? And the twins... Spencer and Holden-gah!!
I already have so many different theories going on in my head, and I'm dying to know if any of them are right!! I can't wait for the next book... like seriously I am dying for it!!

Kate is asked to pretend to be Karrigan by karrigans father for 1 year in exchange for 10M pounds. How is she able to do this?? It's because she looks JUST LIKE HER!! Karrigan has run away and no one knows where she went. But the family needs Kate to be her to ensure that "Karrigan" secures an engagement with Spencer, the next Duke. But unbeknownst to her, Spencer has an identical twin brother named Holden who tries to tempt her.

I really like both brothers... but I think I like Spencer a little bit more. Although I have a feeling that she'll end up with the underdog, Holden- just a personal thought. But Spencer is sooooo sweet so I hope she stays with him, and if Kerrigan ever returns (the mysterious bag in the father's office makes me wonder if she's not even alive anymore for some reason), she can have Holden lol.

Can't wait until the next book!!

I recieved an ARC for my honest review.

What is this author doing to me, lol. This book was too short for what it was. There was definitely space to fill in some background details.
Be warned, when ever this author writes a trilogy, which London Dynasty is the start of, there will be a cliffhanger. The cliffhanger is small and the 2nd book is due out end of July.
The story starts off really strong, Kate is approached by Kerrigan’s father to be Kerrigan for one year, and Kate asks all the right questions before deciding. On her way to Kerrigan’s home and up to a certain point there doesn’t seem to be any real prep work by Kate or anyone else in on the secret, learning how to be Kerrigan. Nothing really leads to believe any real prep was done. While they might look alike, no way is poor Kate is going to be able to pull off being a well educated socialite without some sort of mini boot camp.
For as invested in this as Kerrigan’s father is, you would think he would be a little more active.
While there doesn’t seem a lot of character building at this point (remember it’s a trilogy and a shorter book), once you get to the party scene all these little plot twists start popping up, questions are asked, you’ll question who is or isn’t a villain, and then that little cliff at the end...oh my.
