Boss's Secret Baby is a standalone romance from the Bosses and Babies series. It's packed with scorching hot steam, all the romance feels, and a swoony Happily Ever After that will leave you with a smile on your face. No cheating or cliffhangers!
I hate leaving bad reviews, but this was missing any real feelings for me. There wasn't any real drama or love and Carter was too worried about Izzy and not at all about his son.
2.5/5 The hero hires the heroine basically to get into her pants (again). If that’s not creepy idk what is. Also, did he ever consider the ethical and moral considerations of being the boss and hitting on an employee? Doesn’t matter they already had sex 5 years ago. And wow office sex with the boss. Talk about unprofessional. And forgetting the condom 5 years ago??? There was absolutely NO talk about safe sex. Hey, are you clean? On BC? CONDOM?! Nope. I mean the hero admitted he got around a lot so who knows 🤷♀️.
From the moment I saw her behind that counter in the café near campus, my heart had belonged to her. It had just taken me five years to figure it out.
This was a pretty decent read considering the fact that I'm not a big second change romance or secret baby trope kind of person. If you are, then you will probably LOVE this. It's basically, one night stand with random guy, get pregnant, five years later surprise! one night stand is your boss. Decent read.
This was a quick read but it was very cute if you want to read a book where the MMC falls first HARD/ absolutely obsessed with the FMC then this is the book!!
I loved the workplace romance and accidental pregnancy tropes in this. Izzy and Carter were just so cute & I loved their chemistry.
Overall I liked this book. Izzy and Carter have a one night stand. She ends up pregnant but he doesn't find out until years later. Of course he is upset and there are some issues. However, everything works out for them and they get their happy ending.
This is a book that I finished in just under two hours.
After a one night stand where she slips out before her partner awakens, Izzy finds herself pregnant. Fast forward 5 years, and her old one night stand, Carter, is her new boss. Old feelings are renewed, but her heart aches knowing that she hasn't told him he's a father. When the truth comes out, will more than their relationship change?
I wanted to like this book more, but I didn't feel a real connection between Carter & Izzy. The "drama" that drove them apart was trivial, at best. Also, I didn't feel as though Carter was very interested in his son. He was more into Izzy.
If you like second chance, insta-love stories, this one will tick all your boxes.
The story was your typical guy and girl get together and have chemistry. Guy or girl moves away. Girl realizes she is pregnant and can't find him. Years pass by and they get back together with some bumps in the road. It was a easy, quick, shmexy scene with some heart string pulling style read. Only draw back for me was the repetitive word phrasing during the adult scenes. Sometimes I felt the words didn't need to be repeated or didn't have to be there and I still understood and got the visual. Towards the end I even started skipping paragraphs and new what was going on and happening. However the premise is good and what I was looking for when I selected to read this one. So I still give it 4 out of 5 stars.
3.5⭐️⭐️⭐️This book was fun. Still in a little bit of a slump but I loved the characters. It got kind of slow and cringy towards the end but overall was a good book.
When Izzy met Carter, they didn’t know each other’s last names. They spend a night together, then go their separate ways. Then Izzy discovers she is pregnant. She does try to find Carter, but not knowing his last name, she really had no way to begin.
Five years later, Izzy is interviewing for a job as a graphic designer and is surprised to find Carter is her boss. She intends to tell him about his son, Liam, but doesn’t find the right opportunity. The two of them are attracted to each other. When she gets a call about Liam being sick at daycare, she has to take him home. When Carter needs to talk to her about work, he sees a picture of Liam that feels somehow familiar and he learns about his son. Will the two of them get back together? Or will his plans to return to New York get misconstrued and cause them to split apart?
There are many more details in the story line where the two of them have some roadblocks to encounter. Will they finally get it straightened out and bring their family together in a HEA? Grab your copy and find out what happens when they are both heading their separate ways, unaware of how the other feels now.
Honestly this book is horrible, writing was way too fast paced, no connection whatsoever. He hired her because he wanted to fuck her, that is literally a sexual harassment claim waiting to happen. Also why did they think they knew each other after a few hours. DNF at 36%

Boss’s Secret Baby, Book 1 of the Bosses and Babies series, was about Carter, Jacobs, CEO and the owner of the Appetite restaurants, and Isabelle "Izzy" Taylor, Graphics Designer. Five years in the past Izzy, a college student majoring in art, was working as a barista to help make ends meet. She had just been dumped by her boyfriend when she met Carter while she was at work. Her two BFFs had told her she needed to "work Ryan out" of her system by sleeping with someone else. Although she had brushed the idea away as a bad one, after meeting Carter, they had an immediate reaction to each other, followed by the hottest sex either had ever experienced. Only for Izzy to leave before he woke up the next morning, neither having exchanged last names or phone numbers. Carter, who was leaving L.A. the next day for business school in New York, was greatly disappointed that she had just disappeared. He tried to find her at work, but she never showed. Izzy had also tried to find Carter, but they never saw each other again. Not long after he left, Izzy found out she was pregnant and, with no way to contact him to let him know, she was on her own raising a baby. Five years passed and Carter returned to L.A. richer and working on expanding his restaurants nationwide, but still just as much of a playboy as he had been in college. (He only dealt in one-night stands and even had a box of condoms in his desk drawer...just in case). Having caught a glimpse of Izzy in his office building, he took it upon himself to find out why she was there...and hired her. Although she had seen him on the day she was hired, she couldn't for the life of her understand his position there. It wasn't until her first day of work that she realized the company she now worked for belonged to Carter. Carter and Izzy's relationship picked back up as if it had never ended five years before, until Austin Shannon, Carter's BFF and right-hand man reminded him that he was supposed to be returning to New York and the main headquarters of the company. Carter wasn't certain he could leave Izzy behind...and she didn't know he was supposed to be leaving again. But then he found out about his son, and everything became turmoil for all involved. However, Carter at least got not only excellent support from his father, but also got some pretty powerful advice on how to deal with everything, including respecting Izzy, her choices, decisions, and ideas on how things were going to play out in the future. It was nice to finally read a story about a heroine who wasn't celibate after the first meeting, then being apart from the Hero for a long time. She actually had a life before, after, and with him after his return. She wasn't left "mourning" his absence as most FMCs do. Sometimes, when things start going well, something is bound to throw a monkey wrench in the works. And that held true for Carter and Izzy. Carter, torn between living in L.A. or returning to New York, didn't know what to do. He didn't want to lose the relationship he was building with Izzy and his son, but he didn't want to leave the life he'd had on the East Coast either...and Izzy wasn't aware of the turmoil he was going through...or the choice he had to make. Seems like it's about time for a rude awakening for at least one of the main characters, right? Right. It happened. The big blow-out. Carter would be returning to New York, and Izzy would quit her job and move out of the condo he had purchased for her and her son. So, did all that happen? Or did someone get a "last-minute reprieve"? These characters were well-written, but also a bit naive and immature at the same time. The MMC was definitely immature, self-centered, and egotistical, as well as a bit of a playboy. He rarely slept with a woman more than once, never got into a relationship other than with Izzy, and didn't care how he treated other people. He was a straight-up A$$h-le to everyone just because he could be. The FMC was a touch more mature, but only because she had a child she had to focus all her attention on. But...neither really did that. Even though the author gave these two a child to center them, they mainly focused on each other and sex. Not in building a relationship or a family. While Izzy wanted to be a family, neither one of them ever spoke to the other about it being permanent. Neither of them claimed the other as a "boyfriend/girlfriend" publicly. It was as if their relationship was all in secret, except for sharing it with their BFFs and parents. Neither of them told the other how they truly felt...at least not until it was almost too late. While it was a bit of an emotional rollercoaster, those emotions were actually a bit muted. The angst was low, the drama wasn't that bad, and the passion wasn't all that spicy. Even the heartache that happened was more bland than heartfelt, and it didn't last long enough to truly be considered an ache. The sexy scenes weren't bad, but they were over quickly and were few and far between. There were more scenes with other people than with the two main characters. It was a decent story, but it had a bit too much fluff n stuff and things that really did more distracting than amplifying the plot and storyline. It didn't earn a five-star rating, but it was worthy of three stars.
Five years ago, Isabelle—Izzy—Taylor, a beautiful redhead with big brown eyes experienced the worst moment of her life to that point only to be followed by the most important night of her life. In that one day, her boyfriend of 2 years, who was about to graduate, dumped her, and that same night, Izzy took comfort in the arms of a complete stranger, Carter Jacobs, also a graduating senior who was bound for graduate school in NYC to pursue an MBA. And, although the night with Carter was amazing, Izzy still felt the sting of being recently rejected. So, rather than experience the awkward morning after their night of passion, she got up, dressed and left. And although Carter had asked for her phone number, she left him without any way to contact her, just as she had no link to him.
But sometimes, Fate doesn’t play by mortals’ rules. And so sometimes, Fate provides a second chance at love.
For 5 years, Isabelle has thought of her fateful encounter with a stranger named Carter Jacobs. And many times, she has wished that she had not been so hasty in refusing to exchange contact information with the man whom she had immediately written off as a one-night-stand. But every time she looked at the face of her 4-year-old son, Liam, with his dark mop of hair, she recalled the handsome and engaging senior with piercing blue eyes with whom she had shared a night 5 years earlier. And every time she struggled to stretch the money from her online freelancing design jobs or picked up extra shifts’ waitressing or arranged babysitting duties with her mom and her best friends, Bernie and June, she thought about Carter. And now, searching the want ads for a job in her college studies of art and design, hoping that they would not require a college degree, she thought about Carter and the senior year that she had dumped, unable to manage with pregnancy and its accompanying expenses.
So, when she actually received a call from HR at Appetite, a new high-end gourmet food company that was opening a branch in LA after its NYC success, she thought that maybe, finally Fate was going to give her a break. And, when she receives a job offer on the spot, and as she departs the Appetite building as a new employee, catches a glimpse of Carter Jacobs, her one-night-stand from 5 years earlier and Liam’s dad, she knows that Fate is at work.
Author Crystal Monroe offers her readers a delightful but tension filled journey on the long, winding road of love and second chances. The romance is filled with supporting family and good friends that help the struggling single mom stay on course in mission of providing love and security for her vivacious son. This is a romance that calls for another equally engaging tale of one of the primary characters’ friends.
The addition starts with the book cover….yeah…yeah…yeah don’t judge a book by its cover they say ….well we all do it and this one here it is the scratch to your itch or better yet the filling to your oreos! Speaking of filling…..wait, that’s for later. Within the first chapters you get the panoramic view of whom you’re dealing with! By the time you’ve figured out who is who and how deep hate can run, you’re already hooked, and you may as well give up the fight and prepare yourself for an all-nighter!
Can’t say I didn’t warn you. Second chances are just that but two people have to grab ahold and don’t let go Isabelle and Carter met at the café where she worked at the time and the attraction was instant for both of them so upon closing e comes back to get her number ends up staying to help her clean up and of course one thing leads to another with her leaving only to find out a few weeks later she was pregnant she tries to find Carter but no last name made it impossible so with of her friends help she keeps the baby and life moves on. Fast forward five years later she has an interview with Appetite as a Graphic designer. She gets the job and is working under Carter. She knows she needs to tell him about Liam, their son, but with what she is hearing about him she is not sure he is someone she wants in her son's life. The chemistry is still just as intense as it was years ago more so now and it is still had to ignore when he takes her to the office that she will be using, he ends up kissing her. She tells him that they can't be doing that since he is now her boss. Izzy has been working for Carter for three weeks when she gets a call about Liam being sick at the daycare. She is on a deadline for a project that must be done that day. She decides to take it home to finish. While she is getting Liam, Carter calls her and asks about the project. Liam needs her care right and she can’t give 100% so she tells Carter that he needs to give it to someone else that knows what they are doing. He tells her that he would be in her office in a few to help her thus changing her plans. She gets the baby packed up in the car, but it won’t start, and Carter has to come take her home while getting Liam settled, he looks around. He sees a picture of Liam and something about him seem familiar to Carter. It's like looking at himself. This is when Carter thinks that Liam could be his son. When Izzy comes back out, he asks her about it. They get in an argument that doesn’t end well so will they learn to work together for the Liam, will he forgive her for keeping the truth from him, will he realize she really tired to tell him about the baby and will they find happiness?
So, I did love this book and I would definitely recommend it to the women who want a sappy romance with a grump of a guy who is all about one woman. This book has everything for a quick romance fix. It has love at first sight, an accidental pregnancy, the grump/sunshine trope, the boss/employee trope, and a guy who wants to fix the whole world for this one woman. However, if you're looking for something to make your stomach sink in a good way, for your heart to get all fluttery, and to fall madly, deeply in love with the guy, this probably isn't the book I'd recommend, which is why I'd give it 4 stars rather than 5.

I have been getting a lot of book recommendations from Facebook ads lately and some of them have been good and some haven't been. Unfortunately, this is one that was not a good recommendation.
The author can write very well and I didn't see many typos or anything like that, the writing itself was fine. But there was no character progression at all! The beginning of the book started off so well that I was excited to read it!
So the book starts off with Izzy's boyfriend breaking up with her and her friends trying to convince her to have a one night stand to get over him. Enter Carter. Izzy and Carter had great chemistry when they met and I felt like things were definitely starting off on the right foot for our hero and heroine.
5 years later Izzy interviews for a job at the company that Carter owns and that part was written very well too. But, thats when things start to go down hill. They start sleeping together and spending time with one another but there is no character progression and they barely talk and learn nothing about the other. They are in deep lust with the other and have good sex, thats about the depth of their relationship.
Then Carter finally finds out about their son Liam and boom he just wants to be with them and take care of them. This coming from the guy who 2 months ago was sleeping with anyone with legs? I just feel like the characters did a complete 180 and were suddenly in love with the other and want to be together and there was no journey going from like to love. I wanted more, I want to read the moments in between and how they fell in love, what they like about the other. I wanted more Liam and Carter moments. I just wanted MORE overall and this book did not deliver. I was really looking forward to reading this based off the reviews and the premise of the store but it came up short.
Isabelle and Carter meet one night (literally the same night her boyfriend of two years dumps her), have a one night stand (where they never speak about birth-control) and then Isabelle leaves. Carter said he was leaving in two days anyway so they go there separate ways.
5 years later they meet again completely by chance and she has a secret. His kid.
So she goes for a job interview and Carter sees her enter the building. He tells his friend who is doing the interviews to hire her no matter what. He hires her because he wants to sleep with her again. That's quite the abuse of power.
He gives her a job working directly for him and it isn't long before they have sex on his desk. He takes a condom out of his desk and when she asks him why he says just in case. Just in case? Why wasn't she running for the hills. How many other employees has he had on his desk? Ew! At least they use protection this time.
He is a little angry when he finds out about his son but he just walks away but he doesn't storm off. He goes away thinks about it then goes back. He buys her a condo and an art studio and she just accepts it. I find that weird. She keeps saying that she needs to keep control. That she hasn't needed him for 5 years so she doesn't need him now and then accepted the condo straight away.
He is supposed to be leaving and going back home but he doesn't tell her because he is having second thoughts about it which i'm kind of on his side. Why stress her out if he doesn't end up leaving.
The third act break up was sooooo dumb it nearly ruined the book for me. I really didn't understand her reasoning. I understand why she was mad at first but he apologised and the kid was fine so to call it off completely was way over the top.
After that happens and Carter tells his friend he might as well go to New York and his friend says what about the boy? His response is the worst. But its not long before he realises that he cant leave them and he fights for them.
She suddenly becomes a huge artist and has an exhibit (eye roll) but the get their hea.
I wish there was more bonding scenes with Carter and Liam. It really didn't feel like he cared too much about the boy and only wanted the mum.
The story jumps about a lot and there's no break in chapters. One minute its a Wednesday and there having dinner then the next their saying on Monday morning.
This was a weird one because it wasn't great but i couldn't stop reading so take what you want from that!
He was the answer to feeling better about herself, after her boyfriend decided that their two year run together had reached an end, or was he? After all, he was, in a day or two, headed across country to finish college. They spent time talking over a drink and a night to remember, but this time she was the one to leave before he woke the next morning. Working her way through art college had been her dream, but when Izzy found herself pregnant by the man she only knew as Carter, she had to decide what was most important in her life. Her dreams or the child she carried. Five years later she would come full circle to face Carter with the decision she had made for both of them. How would he feel about her choice? Carter had spent the last five years finishing school and building a multimillion dollar business for himself, while filling his nights with a woman in his bed but never the same one twice. He’d never forgotten Izzy and how he’d felt when he woke the next morning to an empty bed. Then, he saw her walk into his office building looking for a job and this time he wasn’t going to let her out of his sights so fast. Took me a few chapters to see that there was more to Carter then his business prowess and bed hopping persona. But he does have substance. Izzy on the other hand was reminded me of the artists I grew up around, passionate, determined, loving, caring and with a talent that would take time to be recognized. I enjoyed Carter and Izzy’s tale. It’s spicy scenes, that include sex behind closed doors, mingle well with the story of two people slowly trying to learn about each other, their dreams, wants and needs; whether they belonged together. There is also a sprinkling of friends on both sides that offer support and advice.
Isabelle/Izzy had just broken up with her boyfriend of two years and decided to ave a rebound o e night stand with Carter, who she just met. She knew he was leaving for grad school in New York the next day so she left the next morning before he was awake. When she found out later that she was pregnant she had no way of contacting him so she dropped out of school to raise her son. 5 years later she is working 2 jobs to make ends meet and interviews at a gourmet food company from New York with an office in LA now. It turns out that Ryan, her one night stand, is the CEO and he recognizes her and immediately hires her because he has not been able to stop thinking about her. Ryan is known as a grumpy womanizer at work and she is afraid to tell him about their son because she wants to protect her son. How will Ryan react when he finds out he has a 4 year old son? Can Izzy and Ryan find happiness together?
I loved this story where former lovers come together again and Ryan realizes that he has a son. Isabelle and Ryan had a one night stand but he had never forgotten her after he moved away, finished school, and started his successful company. Isabelle had been struggling to raise her son and the new job working at Ryan’s company was going to make her life easier. The author did a fantastic job of showing you how both Isabelle and Ryan felt and why they acted as they did. I thought the epilogue was a perfect ending for their story.

The sky is the limit for this whirlwind second chance Boss’s Secret Baby: A Second Chance Romance (Bosses and Babies) by Crystal Monroe is a very engaging second chance and secret baby romance. Carter and Isabelle get a second chance and reconnect and possibilities are endless. The past rears it’s ugly head creating all kinds of negative thoughts and worries for Isabelle while Carter is on the fence. Carter and Izzy want the same thing, but keep their hearts behind walls. I really enjoyed this second chance romance as well as the secret baby element. I find these stories’ eventual HEA outcomes so satisfying and Boss’s Secret Baby ticked all those boxes for me. The plot centers around the emotions of Carter and Izzy as well as little Liam. There’s the excitement of what could be, the dread of the unknown, fear of what if’s, amazing chemistry, anger and frustration, miscommunication and the joy of bonding as a family. The characters are wonderful as they sucked me into their story and held my attention to the very exceptionally happy end. Overall, the heart wants what the heart wants. Carter and Izzy find their way to a spectacular HEA with Carter pulling off a perfect surprise only to be topped by Izzy. This is a well-written, enthralling second chance book that tells Izzy and Carter's story. They first met five years ago on the day Izzy's boyfriend of two years, a graduating senior, ended their relationship. She was working her way through college as a waitress and had dreams of obtaining her own degree. The day at work, feeling low and hurt she saw Carter when he came into the restaurant with friends. That evening just before closing he came back and Izzy still hurt took comfort in Carter's arms. Their night together was wonderful but Carter was leaving for graduate school in NYC and so when she woke, she dressed and left without saying goodby leaving Carter no way to find her even though he had asked for her phone number.
When she found herself pregnant a few weeks later she had no way to find Carter, her plans of a degree went out the window as she concentrated on looking after their child. Now after five years of struggling, years of seeing Carter every time she looks at Liam her four-year son she gets the chance of a job that will make their lives easier. But the job brings her back into Carter's sphere, is fate going to be good to her?
This book flows well, has some wonderful characters and although it is a romance the author takes the time to flesh out all the characters and not just Izzy and Carter.
Izzy is in College she's spent 2 years in a relationship only to have him dump her. But then she meets Carter instant chemistry but it's one night of intensity and she thinks I can move on Carters going to New York anyway but that one night we'll now she's going to be a mom.
Carter I don't do relationship I go from one-night stand, to one-night stand its how I operate I'm leaving for New York in the morning to finish my business degree then I meet a cute waitress its everything I want and the next morning she's gone and this time it bothers me.
4 years later Izzy needs a better job to provide for her son Liam its along shot but she has and interview for a graphics design job with a big company Appetite. What she never expected was coming face to face with Carter again how is she going to tell him about his son there chemistry is still there but Carter may not be responsible enough for parenthood one mistake could end everything.
This was a good book parts of it were a little slow for me Izzy came off a little nieve at times and Carter was a jerk about women in the beginning but still a good read.
I was allowed to read and advance copy of this book via Booksprout and this is my honest review
This is a book where two people meet and have an instant connection but one leaves and they are unable to reconnect. Izzy was gone when Carter woke up the next morning. Career wasn’t use to that. He usually does the leaving. So when he finally had a connection with a woman and she isn’t there the next morning, carter is thrown for a loop. With no way to get in touch with Izzy, Carter continues with his plan and leaves LA for Néw York. Izzy left because she felt ashamed having a one-night stand so soon after she and her ex split. She was confused and didn’t want Carter to just be a hook up after a break up, but she has no way of communicating with Carter. She doesn’t even know his last name. Things get more complicated when Izzy’s period is late and the pregnancy test says “positive”. She goes on to raise a healthy, beautiful son alone, but 5 years later Carter and Izzy’s path merge again. Read what happens when Carter comes back to LA and he and Izzy meet again. How does he learn he is a father, and how does their HEA story turn out? Read this book to find out!
Give me a like if this review helped you decide whether to read this book or not.
I’m sorry but this was horrendous, does the author have any idea how women’s reproductive organs work like an “infertile day” is not a thing and the fact they believe it is or that it’s not mentioned that it’s not a thing is worrying. Also why was it never mentioned that she could have an abortion or put the baby up for adoption like they would have been valid responses but nope not even mentioned.
The mmc is a creep like honestly was he meant to be likeable coz I just found him weird and misogynistic and their relationship was weird and creepy And the fmc seems really openly resentful of the fact she has a kid it’s just a weird characterisation choice, am I meant to like her even tho she’s kinda rude about her kid
Both of the main characters where just shitty people who really shouldn’t have been allowed a child the mmc was just going to leave his kid and run off to another state coz shit went bad with the fmc and the fmc just quit her job because of a fight with the mmc like she didn’t have a whole ass child to provide for.
honestly the writing was bad and the plot has been done about 1 billion times before and has been done 10x better there was nothing unique about this book except for how bad it was
Sweet romance between Isabelle and Carter. They meet and end up having a wild one-nighter together. They had a nice time but he leaves right after and she had no way to find him so Izzy carries on. Now years have passed, when they bump into each other again, she applies to work at his company, not knowing that it is Carter's. They are still very attracted to each other, but, of course, he never looked her up and never left her any way of reaching him so he doesn’t know about the little surprise he left behind. The story was okay but it was still a disappointing reading experience. Instead of an arc, we received a plain, text only PDF. Covers are extremely important to me and I feel I provide a service to the author by spending several hours reading her book and then typing a personalized review. I shouldn’t have to view the cover by checking it in amazon. It truly leaves a disappointed taste. For this reason, as many other’s do, I’m deducting a star for disappointing reading experience. Hopefully, the author will value our time more in the future.

This was a short and quick read. I love this trope though so I enjoyed it. I don't know what it is about the fact that they have a baby and then run into the baby daddy later on and life and they just look at the kid like hmmmm. You get both POV's ---- YAYYY! I like the story. I mean it did feel kind of rushed but at least it hit on all points it was making so you got the full story. Mom and Baby Daddy both had daddy issues.
