One must be saved, one must be broken, one must seek vengeance, and one must choose.
In a world shaped by a select few masters of the natural elements, the visions of a long-forgotten queen foretell a crossroads in the future of humanity. Oblivious to their own significance, four strangers will dictate the fate of the world, and all life balances on the knife edge of their choices.
One decisive night will gather them all together under the same roof, where the flickering fires of life will continue to burn... or be extinguished forever.
Surprising and intense read. The drama would get so intense at points I had to put the book down to lower my blood pressure. You could heavily invested in the characters and the details of the land. Look forward to book #2!
Crux of Eternity pulls you into a well-crafted world of elemental magic that feels fresh within the fantasy genre. Trompeter pays great attention to detail and world-building as he weaves together the lore and lives of Kettle, Jace, Iliana, Bastian, and the realm itself. It’s an engrossing read that will keep you anxiously turning pages to see where their stories lead. Also, the cover art is beautiful. Very much looking forward to the next one.
In an age where fantasy has become one of the most absurdly oversaturated genres, it’s a grueling task to find something that actually feels original and worthwhile. Thankfully, for everyone who’s tired of reading about dilapidated world-building and finicky magic systems, the Crux of Eternity exists. Not only does the author manage to take a classic, tried-and-true magic system and make it both functionally more interesting AND conceptually more unique, but he manages to make you truly care about the history surrounding it and the characters who wield it. The four protagonists-and everyone else in between, for that matter-don’t find themselves dependent on tropes or cliches in order to stick out, and the realness of each character will leave you practically begging for them to grace the page again. To say I have a million more praises to preach about this book is an understatement-I absolutely cannot wait for more.
ok so i may have a little bias here cause i met the author at a convention (central florida comic con) and he was so sweet and so fun to talk to so i was already hooked. the world created here is so throughly thought out and beautiful, the magic system is fun and interesting, and while there are a lot of povs to keep track of i loved the characters dearly. would recommend if you’re looking for a fun new fantasy book
I wrote a research paper on this book because of how much I adore Trompeter’s writing. It seriously changes the way you see fantasy and the way the four characters are each developed in such a short time is impressive and engaging. Their storylines make you feel SICK putting down the book as you want to see how each story connects.
