A few years ago, when his sister went missing, Haggard Crow turned into something he never wanted to be. A killer.
Even after his sister is rescued a year after she was kidnapped and sold, Haggard ‘Thief’ Crow doesn’t have any plans on changing. He sort of likes the zero fucks given guy that he is now.
Bonus points, he saves women and children from extreme situations, along with his club and real life brothers by his side. After a horrible marriage, Haggard has zero plans of ever finding a woman again. One-night stands not counting, he adores his life as a single man. There are no expectations. No ‘where are yous’ and ‘are you coming homes.’
The life he chooses to live is a simple one. Until he makes a huge mistake, and he steps over that line between ‘daughter’s best friend’ and ‘a woman he desperately wants.’
Before long, he can’t stop thinking about her. Can’t stop wanting her. Can’t stop feeling things for her that a man twenty years her senior should never feel for a girl he watched grow up.
After one lapse in judgment, he decides she needs to go. But the funny thing is, he never expected Sophia Madden to fight back. And dirty at that.
Lani Lynn Vale is married to the love of her life that she met in high school. She fell in love with him because he was wearing baseball pants. Ten years later they have three perfectly crazy children and a cat named Demon who likes to wake her up at ungodly times in the night. They live in the greatest state in the world, Texas. She writes contemporary and romantic suspense, and has a love for all things romance. You can find Lani in front of her computer writing away in her fictional characters world...that is until her husband and kids demand sustenance in the form of food and drink.
I think it's hilarious that the author actually predicted that most of us would be extremely upset by this book. I can't even think right now. I'm typing this up at the speed of lightning, hoping the ferocity of my pecking at these keys can be felt along LLV's back. I'm kidding. Maybe.
I'm just so freaking mad right now!
You ever become so invested in side characters, waiting for the day the author will bless you with their story? What happens when you realize that story will NEVER be coming???
You get a normally cool and controlled Natalie basically foaming at the mouth!
Did I love so many aspects of this story? Of course! I'm a sucker for a well-defined silver fox. Throw in the taboo that his happily ever after is with his daughter's best friend? With his best friend's daughter? Yeah, I'm here for all the taboo-ishness of this read.
I do have a question though? If I'm older than the oldest character (Haggard) and he's basically categorized as middle aged, does that make ME middle aged? Nuh uh. Nope. I've barely dipped my toes into the 40s and I'm forever young, thank you very much!
Back to the story... I loved how Haggard and Sophia had loved each other for so long, not knowing the other felt the same. I loved how everyone knew how they felt before they did. I loved how they finally got on board with the program. It felt organic rather than rushed and because of their many years of knowing each other, it was very easy for everything to fall into place. I actually wanted more and despite my tears, I would have welcomed more opportunities to see all of these characters together. I guess that's what the following books are for.
I'm super mad right now, in case that wasn't clear. But it doesn't even really matter, does it? I'm still going to have this author on my auto-buy list. I'm still going to read (and love) her books. And I'm still going to urge each and every one of you to get to reading. Seriously, you need her books in your life.
This novel was a powerful start to a new series. I absolutely loved Haggard and Sophia! There was just something about their connection that really captivated me despite their age gap.
This book touches on a premise I tend to tread lightly around based on previous IRL experiences but I enjoyed the plot very much. The protagonists were fleshed out well and their character was well established. The range of emotional content made for an entertaining read. I was definitely shocked and surprised at some of the twists. It’s a rare occurrence for me to not have at least a slight inkling about what could be coming up as a twist but this book definitely did that and more. 🤯
I can’t wait to read about what’s next for this crew.

Man, oh man… How could Ms. Vale rip my heart out like that! Talk about a gut wrenching surprise! Yep, Ms. Vale sure knows how to make this black hearted girl sob like a baby… *sniff*
LLV’s books always suck me right in from the start, but this one… Wow, talk about a major CrossFit workout for one’s heart! I’ll not spoil anything here but to say that it was quite a ride, its an understatement. And hot d@mn, but even that ending that glued my shattered heart a bit, it became a bittersweet ending, and left me dying for yet another of Ms. Vale’s coming books. Pure addiction, I tell you!
Now, self suffering whining aside, lol, Always Someone’s Monster is another of those EPIC LLV books, that will forever be branded in my heart, with all its bells and whistles – fantastic setting, killer premise and some of the most incredible characters and world building. Another unforgettable read, no doubt!!! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
I wanted her to be mine. I wanted her in my life for always.
“Anytime, anyway, Haggard Crow.” She smiled. “I’m yours.”

I'm going to try real hard to be vague as hell because this book needs it.
Where am I am I at after reading this one?...
Drowning in my own damn tears and snot I tell you.
I am a broken little human.
Reading is my escape from reality but in the last year it's been my safe haven. Something I don't talk about ever is that I lost my dad last Christmas and due to our current situation I never got to say good bye to him. Now one of the very few things that kept me from loosing it was reading and to be more specific Lanis book. I've always been a fan but even more so after her books got me through a time in my life I would never wish on anyone. Now this book right here... it hit home for me. It was raw and brutal because it's relatable in a way I wish it wasn't. But that's also the magic with this author... her stories breath life and able you to connect to these characters in more ways than them just being fictional characters in a story.
You'll understand the relevance of this^ when you've read the book.
Sophia and Haggards story is epic, forbidden, tension filled and in it's final moments.. absolutely fucking cutting. Every emotion palpable, every teasing touch and taunting look tangible. They consumed me whole and I could not get enough of them.
Sophia is for her age a whole lot older in mind than in body. She's sweet and she may be young but this woman knows what she wants and sets her sight out to get exactly that. She just got a whole lot more than she bargained for.
Haggard is a man up shit creek without a damn paddle. He understands his forbidden attraction to his daughters best friend and his best friends daughter is exactly that ... forbidden. Oh and how he tries to steel his mind from her luscious curves and sweet temptation. But the man is no monk and even with all his determination, his resolve falters under the heat of sweet sinful Sophia.
They had me crawling the walls with the suffocating tension that surrounded them. That slow build teasing Lani did just hit right because Sophia and Haggard had every bit of my attention on them waiting, wanting... needing more. It was wrong but so fucking right it actually didn't feel wrong at all. They worked in a ways that made it easy to believe them. It was natural the way they seamlessly leaned on one another and worked without needing to put the work in. Despite their age differences and inspite of others opinions they just fit perfectly together in a way that made you only see them.
There is so much going on in their journey...
Haggards very black area he works in. Sophia's knowing but not acknowledging attitude. The cat and mouse game they played for the first 40/50%. The teasing and taunting. Not so subtle touches and the sweet moments of pure vulnerability. They had me from the moment she jumped in his arms and he had her titty in his palm. Quite frankly they'll go down as one of my favourite ever couples.
The journey is a rollercoaster of emotions that leave you overwhelmed. There truly is neve a dull moment and honestly I'm so curious about the other characters in this series and where their story will take them because I know for sure this MC ain't as well behaved as the others and these men are a whole different breed of bad for all the best reasons.
As per we have some giant personalities gracing the pages given us moments of sheer joy and laughter, some outrages shenanigans and just pure love and friendship that I'm more than a little envious of. It's a multidimensional world with so much to give and I'm excited for what's to come. That is for sure because with Lani there is never a dull moment.
This book fucking gutted me. But I always have and forever will trust this author and her writting because she time and time again has created magic on pages. So I will hold my breath for the story I know she knows we will all need. And I will love the fuck outta what's comes before that story. But I will need that book to heal the broken pieces this one left for fucking sure.
What a story. The emotion. Frankly I'm not good enough o do it justice.
Lani just never ceases to have me flabbergasted at the sheer talent she has.
I'm acome back and add some quotes in a hot minute when I'm not so much of a mess.
This was okay. I couldn't suspend disbelief enough on how okay everyone was of the romance between Haggard and Sophia. Not that others really have a say, but still, it was a little Pollyanna. The life or death circumstances Sophia finds herself in in such a short time was a bit overdone and her dads response to that was just - no way. Not buying it. I wasn't a super fan of how the dad fell apart, I found it unbelievable, actually. And then to have that twist at the end just twisted the knife and I felt it was all a little too manipulative of the author to try and wring out the emotions.
Always Someone’s Monster is the first book in Lani Lynn Vale’s new Battle Crow MC Series. I’ve been dying for Sophia Madden’s story since ‘meeting’ her in the Madd CrossFit series and wow what a steamy, forbidden, emotional story it was. It was so worth the wait. This story took me by surprise in the very best of ways. I was not at all prepared for the many feels this book would put me through and the moment I started reading it was impossible to put the book down until I finished. Sophia and Haggard have a complicated, emotional love story. He is her dad’s best friend and she is his daughter’s best friend. Holy forbidden but nothing about it felt wrong. The progression and development of their relationship was perfectly written and I fell so hard for this couple. The angst, tension and feels nearly wrecked me but in an all consuming way. Sophia is a firecracker of a woman. Fierce, knows her heart and mind and Haggard is what she wants. Haggard is a different man since his sister was held captive by traffickers. She’s now been rescued and is happy in her life but that year he lost with her destroyed him. He is a good man but does bad things for the right reasons. Sophia is a temptation to him that he tries very hard to resist, but she is persistent and becomes impossible to ignore the looks, touches and sparks. When they connect the passion between them is deeply intense and I couldn’t get enough. The book is unpredictable in ways that I can’t even begin to describe without giving away spoilers. If you are a reader that wants to feel all the emotions when you read this is the one to pick up. Just have your box of tissues nearby because you are going to need them!
I absolutely loved this, the first in another eagerly anticipated series with several cross over characters. It is packed with tension, suspense and emotion and you will require tissues! Can’t wait for book 2.
I was a little worried this would have "daddy" kink. There is a joke about it early on, but it is never brought up again thankfully. Overall, this was interesting. The ending was pretty shocking!
Lani Lynn Vale is a natural-born storyteller! We loved this story from cover to cover, it was an emotional tale that gripes one's heart.
The characters were amazing as always, very engaging and quite loveable. We loved Haggard's and Sophie's story. The story had constant drama from beginning to end and some suspense, had a cast of awesome characters, it ended up being a page turner for us, we could not put it down.
The heart wants what the heart wants, others be damned. The chemistry between Sophia and Haggard sizzled and when in a room together it was like fireworks going off, always so much sexual tension in the room when they were in it together as they say the sparks flew!
I understood Haggard being on the fence when it came to Sophie and that the man felt that he was between a rock and a hard place, it seemed so many obstacles surrounded them until those excuses did not matter anymore. One tragic turn of events was all it took for Haggard to take what he wanted consequences to be dammed.
The story was emotional but, it was also fun and made you laugh as a couple Haggard and Sophia just worked. We loved how sweet, kind, caring, protective Haggard was with Sophia, knowing this man can be very dangerous, and deadly, we loved seeing that side of him he only with her.
Smoking Hot Read! We can't say that this story did not tug on the readers' emotions, it did just that the story made you happy and sad and even made your heart hurt but, we have to say we loved the ending as we ended the story with a smile on our face.
This story just ripped my heart out. I don’t want to spoil anything but OMG this whole book was filled with crazy and shocking events one after another.
Haggard is the president of the Battle Crows MC and they are not afraid to do whatever it takes to protect those they love.
Do you know what Texas weather is like? That’s what dating a Texas girl is like.
SOPHIA has had a thing for Haggard since she was young. As his best friends daughter he knows she’s off limits. There comes a time when you just have to say that’s it.
“You and me?” I asked. “We’re happening. We’re not wasting any more time on what-ifs, or this isn’t rights. You’re going to be mine, and I’m going to be yours.
This is a great start to this new series and if this book is any indication we better hold on for a seriously dark ride.
"It's always something before the late night. Around the corner, there's always something waiting for you. Can't hold the hands back; can't make the sun rise. It's always something, You know it's always something." -Cage the Elephant & Haggard ‘Thief’ Crow (probably)
I don't even know where to begin with this one. I guess I'll start with most obvious one and work on that thing at the end listed under "spoiler." I will say, I will assume if you click on my spoiler that you have been going through all of LLV's books because I will have references to other books that will also most likely have spoilers.
First we had Silas. Then, we had Steel. Then, we had Coke. And THEN, we had Lynn. We also had some almost grays, getting gray, and large age gaps as well. But in the realm of silvah foxes, we've never seen anything quite like the relationship between Haggard Crow and Sophia Madden. Why? Because she is the youngest we've seen to have a silver fox like Haggard, and it could have been LLV's first DD/LG relationship. Alas, that didn't happen but whatevs. It was still an interesting relationship dynamic, and it was a great read...an emotional one at that. But I can't talk about that right now (*sniff, sniff*). I'll talk about that later. I will say that it is highly suggested that you read the Madd CrossFit Series. It's like the prequel books before this series. Same town. A lot of the same characters. A lot of backstory. Anyhow...
Haggard Crow just can't catch a break. His sister got sold into sex trafficking for a year. Thankfully, she's back and doing well after the events of No Rep. Haggard also went through a nasty divorce, and his wife is a b!#@h. His best friend is mourning the loss of his son and is out of control in grief. And the woman he loves? Yeah, his best friend's twenty-two year old daughter--the one he watched grow up with his own daughter, the one who is off-limits. Right? RIGHT? Well, some pretty intense events force him to realize that maybe he shouldn't wait around any longer with Sophia. Time is short, and you can't waste it.
Sophia has been in love with her father's best friend since she was a teenager. When he divorced his wife, she can't help but hope. However, Haggard is a sensible guy. He won't touch her. She's his daughter's best friend. It's too taboo. There's too big of an age gap. There's so many issues that it ain't funny. Yet...yet they can't keep fighting the pull. Eventually, something has got to give. Unfortunately, a series of events has started that has put poor Sophia in grave danger--danger that even a bada$& like Haggard might not be able to save her from.
So it's spoiler time, and if you read the book, you know EXACTLY what I'm about to talk about next...
A lot like many of LLV's books, it may have been an MC romance, but it was light on the MC and heavier on the romance and romantic suspense in the case. Plus, there was a lot of small town stuff going on. I will admit that the chemistry was sizzling, and the romantic suspense aspects were top notch. The emotional levels in the book were (*sigh*) high, and in more ways than one. The couple was definitely taboo, even more so than like a Janie and Rafe because of how Sophia grew up with Haggard and his daughter, the staggering age gap, and how young she is. However, I liked the exploration there. I do like them silvah foxes.
Mmm. Hunky men who'll teach ya a thing or two. *daydreams*
Wait. Where was I? Oh, yeah. So, yes. Despite my misgivings about the stuff in the spoiler section, I did really like this book. I'm excited about the series. I'm used to the new town of Paris after four books. I feel at home. And there is nothing better than feeling like your home when you read a book.
Wow! This author kicks off a new series with some serious feels!
"You want Sophia. Sophia wants you. What's the problem?"
Sophia Madden has a huge crush on her best friend's dad - he also happens to be her dad's best friend, too. Haggard Crow has lusted after his daughter's best friend for a few years now. He knows that she is forbidden fruit, but his restraint is pushed to the limit. When her life is endangered, he's done holding back.
"You and me? We're happening. We're not wasting any more time on what-ifs, or this isn't rights. You're going to be mine, and I'm going to be yours."
I was elated about Sophia and Haggard but heartbroken at the turn of events in this story, not to mention astounded by the shocking appearance at the end. This story was sexy, suspenseful and heartrending. So typical of this author to throw everything at the reader with how she weaves her plots. It makes for such addictive reading when you don't know what the heck to expect. Loved Sophia's bravery, loved Haggard's alpha possessiveness, and loved Clem and Boston's (Haggard's kids) acceptance of their relationship. It's usually low angst between the main couples, and thank goodness because I don't how my heart would cope with everything else that happens in this author's books! LOL. Such a fabulous read, as usual!
I have mixed feelings about this book. I liked Sophia and Haggard, just wasn't sure about them as a couple. Even being done with the book, I'm still not sure. I found I was more interested in the drama of Sophia's family and oh boy was there drama. From Madden, who broke my heart with the choice he made at the end, to the surprise wedding guest (that I very much want to know more about). I also wanted to know more about the 2 bad guys that Haggard found towards the end, want to know why and what they were up to. It seems like that part was left hanging, unless it's going to be addressed in the rest of the series.
I was expecting a lot more from this. He just wasn't as rough as I thought he would be. He was a serious scary MC, but that was a wimpy MC. They took just a little too long to get together. Her dad...smh. His kids were great and all for their relationship. Surprise at the end.
So just reply heart out and God damn step on it a few times. I just loved this emotional roller-coaster and wow just wow. I need the next book like fucking yesterday!
After reading this book I had to sit on it for a little while. I was shocked the route that the author took. While I understand after reading the end, I’m still a little disappointed. Yes, I loved the couple. Yes the author did a great job with the themes that are in this book (IE- biker, dads best friend, best friends dad). Yes the banter was amazing and we get to meet some new characters that I can’t wait to learn more of and explains. The outcomes were awesome and I was super happy with different turns of events but still disappointed. I won’t go into more details, or even talk more about this book but it was a good read that just didn’t end how I, as a reader and lover of this authors book, expected it too. 4 stars #2OCCJD
Ah, a favorite trope of mine! This one ticks the box for age-gap romance with a side dish of "almost taboo." Love the older guy/younger woman theme! There's no shortage of dire situations, injuries, and steamy scenes in this book, either. Add in Haggard on a motorcycle and it's incendiary. Sophia Madden is a sassy little thing and Haggard can no longer deny he's met his match. LLV ALWAYS entertains. I loved the start of this new series and cannot wait for more! 4 stars
The people in this town got some bad juju 🤣 There is always some nefarious shit going on there! The love story was typical age gap/daughter's best friend storyline. The heat factor was just a tad more than usual LLV, which I appreciated. 4 stars
So this is hard to say because I love Mrs. Vales books & I say this every time I write a review. Mrs. Vale is one of the couple of Authors who I have on pre-order. I have been reading her books for the past 7 years, and for a long time got to always review her books for my old blog.
I had been so excited about another new series starting up and jumping into it.
But unfortunately I think it's time for me to give up Mrs. Vales books. I haven't mentioned it in my reviews recently but I know in the past I've mentioned how her books have become repetitive and predictable. And this one is NO different than the others.
**May Be Some Spoilers Ahead**
1) Oh Look MC has stalker or attacker or someone obsessed with them. Now where have I read that scenario from? Hmmm, maybe 10 other books Mrs. Vale has written. Though evidently this person was supposed to be going after Clem & that was never really explained why.
2) Oh Look 1 of the supporting characters DIES & OH LOOK THEIR BACK FROM THE DEAD. Where have I read that scenario from? Oh from one of Mrs. Vales books.
And that's one of my biggest pet peeves from authors, not just Mrs. Vale. But all authors. If your going to kill off a character for the love of everything KEEP THEM DEAD. I hate when they bring back a character.
3) The MC runs off without a phone after her guy says to stay home? Where have I read that before? One of Mrs. Vales books.
That whole ending just took away from the whole book and made me not even think of Sophia and Haggard.
Anyways yeah the book was good until the end. I could Almost.... Almost forgive her for killing off Madden. But unfortunately she had to bring back someone who was supposed to be DEAD.
The first book in the Battle Crows MC series is one highly emotional ride. This age gap romance between Haggard and Sophie that we had been given little tastes of in a previous series has you holding on for what is an intoxicating love story. This is a book that I was unable to put down and sleep be damned. The chemistry between these two has the air surrounding you charged with an energy that radiates through every word. What some would say a taboo romance just felt perfectly right. There was drama, action, witty banter and enough steam to fog up the windows. However there were surprises that caught me off guard, ones that as I write this review still have my eyes welling up with tears. Some tears will be for a heartache that you don't think will every be healed and other tears were for a happy moment that stole my breath. I know it is early in the year but I think Always Someone's Monster might just be my read of 2022.
Sophia has a little secret - she has a huge crush on her bestie's dad. Yes, Haggard is old enough to be her father, is in fact, her father's best friend, but he's also a hot silver fox and she can't help but be drawn to him. She's never told her friend she has these feelings, and she doesn't plan on it. She also doesn't plan on acting on them because Haggard doesn't see her as anyone but his daughter's friend and his friend's daughter. Then an incident changes everything for them. Now Haggard's looking at her in a whole new way (as far as she knows). Will he be able to keep his girl safe? Will his own best friend kill him for looking at his daughter in a way he shouldn't?
Haggard never planned on acting on his forbidden attraction to his best friend's daughter, his daughter's best friend. Of course not. She's forbidden for a reason, off-limits for a reason. But now that something's happened to put her under his protection, he can't help but stake his claim to this sweet, sassy woman who's had him all tied up in knots all without knowing it. He hopes his best friend can understand, because he's sure as hell not letting Sophia go now...
OK, I gotta warn you before I go further in this review - you will need a big box of Kleenex for this one! Sophia and Haggard's story will tear your heart out, but will also put it back together by the time you're done reading, so just be prepared for the roller coaster now. I loved them, loved every single word of their forbidden, age gap love. Sophia is an absolute hoot - sweet, sassy, quirky and loving, who doesn't quit once she decides she's going to be with her man. Haggard is the very best kind of alpha - commanding, demanding, bossy af, and so hot Sophia didn't stand a chance. The best kind of man and Sophia (and Haggard) were lucky they found each other. I'm fascinated by this new world now, and am seriously impatient for Irish and Shine's story, Make Me Your Villain!

So sad as usually love everything this author writes. No spoilers but I didn't like how Madden acted and what happened. I didn't really feel a connection to Haggard and Sophie. I kept reading as thought maybe we would gain more understanding of the path that the storyline had taken, but I didn't and the storyline felt disjointed. I was excited to see the book on my kindle but at the end, feel like a child at Christmas that just opened an empty box.
This way not worth finishing. First of all, who picked out these names? I can't take any of them seriously. Haggard? I couldn't get the guy from Harry Potter out 5 of my head.
We don't even get to see these 2 fall in love. They are already "in love" from the very beginning.
And his kids being so chill about it? None of this was believable.
Years ago Cannel, Haggard Crow’s sister went missing and he became someone else. Even after her rescue a year after she was kidnapped and sold, Haggard ‘Thief’ Crow is satisfied doling out justice. He rescues women and children from extreme situations, along with his club and real-life brothers by his side. After a horrible marriage, Haggard has zero plans of ever finding a woman again, he enjoys his single status. Before long, he can’t stop thinking about her. Can’t stop wanting her. Can’t stop feeling things for her that a man fifteen years her senior should never feel for a girl he watched grow up. After a lapse in judgment, Haggard decides he cannot become involved with Sophia until she’s accosted by her evil coworker, Blakely.
Sophia is initially introduced as a baby in one of the earlier series (Coup De Grace, maybe)? Madden made their lives joyful and meaningful. There is grief, heartbreak and loss. Tragically losing her brother and then her father (in his grief), then he performs the ultimate act and sacrifices his life for hers.
A year ago, her brother Jasper lost his life in a bombing fire. Sophia is still reeling past his death, whereas the same cannot be said of Madden, he’s drowning in his grief. Madden changed after Jasper’s death, Jasper didn’t want to be at that concert hall. He’d wanted to be at a CrossFit competition, but they’d refused his leave time, and instead put him on country-star detail. In the end, he’d lost his life. And Madden had lost his way.
Haggard and Sophia have been circling each other for years. Haggard is Sophia’s dad’s best friend as well her best friend’s father. Shes been languishing in her feelings for him since she was a teenager. After she became a legal adult, Haggard began seeing her differently, doing his level best not to acknowledge it and keeping his distance from his best friend’s daughter…recognising that he’s old enough to be her father. A thirty-seven year old man lusting after an almost twenty-three year old, even during his marriage.
…until tragedy strikes and Sophia is seriously injured.
Trista and Haggard had become teenage parents, she was fifteen to his fourteen. A few years ago, his ex-wife had insisted that they needed a family protection dog, not realising that Trista didn’t like dogs, nor did she want one. It was simply a babysitter for their children.
Early in the story, there is an underlying threat, which is quickly neutralised by Body, or Busybody, the dog.
Haggard is the president of a motorcycle club, they did things, that LEOs (Law Enforcement Officers) wished they could, by doling out justice. All the miscreants that escaped escaped jail time with slaps on the wrists they ‘relocated’ (their relocation was a six-feet under) one-away passage with bullets in their heads. Because the justice system was flawed. Most of their leads came from cops. The law’s hands were tied.
Years ago, when he was fresh out from the Army, he’d thought he was going to have a booming business in a week. It took him almost ten years to get established working on aircrafts. Now, years later, he was highly sought-after aeronautical mechanic in the South with thirty-two employees, working on helicopters fixing anything within a five-hundred-mile radius that needed fixing.
Madden goes on a bender: There was a story behind Jasper and Sophia’s conception but had never been shared. They’d tried to extract the information, but their father never relented. “Wasn’t able to protect them.” He was slurring. “Don’t deserve those kids. And now she has a man she wants, and he doesn’t want her back. How am I supposed to hold on to her now?” He wouldn’t tell them how he’d ended up with two kids at the tender age of fourteen. But what she did know was sufficient to realise that something really awful had happened, and they would never, utter a word about it.
Blakely, her coworker ran her over with her car. Both the passenger side wheels ran over her abdomen. At first, they were worried that she’d broken her hips. She suffered internal bruising of almost all her abdominal organs. Her eyes are completely red from the capillaries bursting in her eyeballs from the pressure and she’s been having random nose bleeds that might of brain trauma concern. She’s bruised from head to toe. Her arm’s in a sling because her shoulder was dislocated. Her hair looked like it’d been dyed red due to her blood, and he could see parts of it crusted up along her hairline. Her face a mass of blue, purple and black bruises. “Goddamn,” I breathed, looking at her small form. “She’s okay,” the doctor promised.”
Blakely is later found hanging in her holding cell.
Sophia’s lured to the gym, along with her father, he’s engulfed in flames sacrificing his life for hers…giving Haggard his dying blessing.
The man that intended to hurt Clementine and instead frightened Sophia, after his ‘death’, becomes the mastermind.
On Sophia and Haggard’s wedding day, Jasper materialises. His face unrecognisable. His hair was there, but barely. His hands, looked painfully broken. The only thing on him that looked like him were his eyes. The same eyes as Sophia.
After the bombing, Jasper was seriously injured, his vocal cords and his lungs damaged and his brain swollen. Initially he had no memories. Then, when his memories returned, he couldn’t verbalise his identity because neither his hands nor his vocal cords worked. Months later when his vocal chords healed enough for him to speak…that was merely only last week. He’s been hospitalised all this time, and this was the first time that he was allowed out. He must’ve felt so isolated and alone. “I would’ve been there every f…..’ day if I’d known. And so would your sister. And your dad.” That’s when I saw pain flash across Jasper’s eyes. He knew about his father. Knew how he died.
Murphy supposedly was the recipient of her brother’s heart. Which begs the question, whose heart does Murphy have? Murphy was the man that Madden pretended didn’t make him physically ill when he saw him.
Author’s Note “Okay. I know you hate me right now. I’m sorry. But… I just couldn’t see a way back for Madden. In Jasper’s book, I’m going to make it up to you, I promise. Also, Madden’s death, as well as the timeline on a few things, may or may not have a confliction with the Madd CrossFit series depending on how you read/interpret it. I never intended to kill him off originally. I was going to write his book. But the more in depth his character became to me, the more I realized that he was inherently broken from his previous life in Michael and Nikki’s book (Coup De Grace.) Also, I know you’re going to have questions about Jasper and the rocker that he was protecting seeing as Murphy supposedly got Jasper’s heart in Jerk It”.
Many unanswered questions. A tragic story.
I am prefacing this as a personal peeve for writers opposed to referencing the term ‘dragged’. Many books use drug versus drag. Proper use of DRUGGED versus DRAGGED in its proper intended context—for purposes of clarity —Dragged is a verb, the simple past tense and past participle form of drag, meaning to pull along, such as dragging one’s feet.
Drug or drugged is the simple past tense and past participle of drug, a noun or a verb, relating to chemicals or substances that affect people's bodies and mental states. A substance used to treat an illness, relieve a symptom, or modify a chemical process in the body for a specific purpose. Excerpt::: “I brought my hand up to her face and drug a finger down the line of her cheek, wondering if I should wake her up to pull her out of the nightmare she was having”.

What little I read of this made me feel like I needed to take a bath in hand sanitizer and bleach my brain. I didn't even get to the really icky stuff, I'm sure.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
