Jagged Sins

CAITLIN: I'm the only person who cared enough to stick around and raise my little brothers and niece, the only one fighting to keep us together. Never once did I imagine anyone coming to our rescue, let alone a guy like Gabe.

He's dangerous. Not just with this risky Robin Hood mission of his, but with the way he somehow gets past all my defenses...

GABE: I'm not a good guy. Even if the bad things I do help good people. The only reason I'm back in town is to right my father's wrongs. My hunt for justice is the only thing I give a damn about. Until I meet Caitlin.

I don't believe in love, never have. But something about this sweet, damaged girl makes me wish I did...

NOTE: This is the first book in the Broken and Jagged trilogy. Previously titled A Love So Dangerous. Same dark, dirty, adrenaline-fueled story, just with a fresh makeover.

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, Jessie Evans, gave up a career as an international woman of mystery to write the sexy, contemporary romances she loves to read.

She's married to the man of her dreams, and together they're raising a few adorable, mischievous children in a cottage in the jungle. She grew up in rural Arkansas, spending summers running wild, being chewed by chiggers, and now appreciates her home in a chigger-free part of the world even more.

When she's not writing, Jessie enjoys playing her dulcimer (badly), sewing the worlds ugliest quilts to give to her friends, going for bike rides with her house full of boys, and drifting in and out on the waves, feeling thankful for sun, surf, and lovely people to share them with.

Caitlin's life is full of responsibilities, much more any other woman turning twenty. So she decided that on her twentieth birthday she was going out with her best friend to a club for a night of dancing and letting loose. She had no idea what the night went bring when she starts dancing with a stranger....

Gabe is tired of the girls trying to change his bad boy ways. When he spots a girl on the dance floor that is dancing like nobody is watching he has to be near her. And when he does there is a pull between them. He knows there is something different about her and he will find out why...

Caitlin and Gabe are on fire. It's only a few hours but oh my God, Gabe is fucking hot! And but they could not stop thinking about each other even after months of being apart. Caitlin is still hard at work and taking on way more responsibilities then a twenty year should have to while Gabe is well, being Gabe....

So when Gabe decides enough is enough and that he has to see the girl that he can't stop thinking about he goes to her. They make the decision to spend the Summer together to let loose before they have to go back to reality. A summer full of passion, laughs and also danger. They feel alive when they are together and don't want the summer to end but nothing last forever....

I am in love with these characters, all of them even the little ones. Gabe is so straight forward and Caitlin is strong. And they fit perfectly together in the bedroom, it's the perfect blend of sexy and sweet. And the book is like puzzle that needs to be pieced together and I love puzzles! It's edgy, sexy and dangerous and I can't wait for more.

Quotes:

I've never been good at doing what I should. I don't resist Temptation, I throw him a big, loud party and invite a Trouble to DJ. ~ Gabe

She's so beautiful, like something out of my dreams, the dreams that are always about her. Always. Ever since the night I first kissed her addictive lips.

He's brought danger into my world, be he's also brought joy and passion and life.

*****Spoilers*****

The writing pulled me in right from the start and the characters kept me invested. Gabe was a surprise, partly because we didn't really get his motive from this book for the robberies. Caitlin, once sugar and nice and responsibility personified, takes Gabe up on his offer and takes what it's taking her much too long to earn. Stealing from the wicked to care for her family, Caitlin is taking risks that could mean the end of the life she knows if they're caught. Throw in the attraction between Caitlin and Gabe and feelings get involved despite both of them agreeing at the outset that it's temporary and won't last past the summer.

This book is short and like many shorts, it's a little rushed which is made apparent when it suddenly fast forwards several months to when Gabe is breaking up with Caitlin. Something is going on with him but we're not told what. I was fully prepared for him to die from some weird or complicated disease and still like the book. We'll see what's his deal in the next one but the puzzling part about Gabe's illness, whatever it is, is how it comes out of nowhere. He's not planning to go back to college and is only with Caitlin for the summer that he ends up cutting short which we know right away but the whole book there was no hint of any ailment until the end.

One thing I didn't get in this book was how Pitt found out what Caitlin and Gabe did to him. There wasn't anything that would point to them I didn't think when they robbed him but somehow he not only finds out she was involved but also sneaks into her house and into her room without anyone noticing. In a household full of kids, that just seems impossible that a strange man can get in unseen, too, how did he know which room was hers to begin with? Strange indeed. I also didn't think it was a good idea for her to quit her job at the movie theater, it just points to something going on when she's been struggling so long to take care of her siblings and niece.

On to the next, we'll see what Pitt will do now that he's knocked her out in her own room and Gabe is gone.

I'm so frustrated. That ending!!!!!!

A Love So Dangerous is a honest title. It's dangerous to the heart, the mind, and even your future. A love so encompassing...

I'm so desperate for book 2. I knew that twist was coming. I knew who it was but I still hoped it wasn't...

I can wait for the next one.

This book was great! The complete opposite lives that Caitlin and Gabe lead bringing them together in a rush of danger and hot lust turned to love. Amazing characters in this story.

Wished I would have known sooner that the next in the series is only available as paperback or audiobook.

This is book 1 of a trilogy, I recommend having all three books ready to go before you start listening. It's well worth the commitment in my opinion.
