13 years ago, Senri's neglectful, abusive parents were violently murdered and his twin brother abducted. Senri grew up first in an orphanage, then with his grandparents, but has grown into an angry young man with a violent streak, running scams for money and always on the hunt for the man who took his brother. One day he glimpses an unexpected clue that sends him hot on the trail, but unexpected developments put his life in imminent danger!
There is one prominent female character, a friend from orphanage days who acts as the voice of reason and has a backstory that makes her relate to his, but she is portrayed in an objectified way (slightly exaggerated figure, bedroom eyes, and highly exaggerated giant lips - like Sambo-caricature-style lips, even in flashbacks of her as a little kid) which might be off-putting to some readers.
I'm not as taken with this story as I was with 'Island in a Puddle' and 'Erased', but I am interested to see where it goes.
Content concerns: domestic violence, child neglect, bullying (including physical violence), moderate swearing (though not gratuitous), criminal activity (scams, murder, attempted murder)
