Special Agent Ricki James is assigned a case that is way outside her comfort zone and threatens to lead her down a dark road created by a twisted mind.
If the only way to catch a killer is to step into his trap, will she do it?
Special Agent Ricki James is less than thrilled to be assigned to a case by none other than Dr. Jonathan Blake. The top profiler in the country has made good on his promise to form an inter-agency team to investigate a string of unsolved murders, and he’s made very sure that Ricki is on it.
Whether she wants to be or not.
But her distrust of the FBI profiler quickly takes a back seat to the puzzle he hands over to the team. Ricki can’t decide if it is one, disturbing case, or a dozen separate ones. The bodies were found hundreds of miles from each other, none of the forensics match, and the only connection is a square patch of skin missing from each of the victim’s torsos.
As the team follows a twisted trail of evidence, Ricki has a gut feeling that they aren’t hunting a killer, but being lured by one into a trap that none of them can survive.
Amazing book! I don’t even know where to start with this review. After reading Book 3, I could hardly wait to jump into this book. Ricki James is one busy Special Agent for the forestry and citizenry she protects. She can be comforting, kind and family oriented; then, she becomes the wise, smart detective and agent she lives for. She is a forward thinking person but always remembering her love for Eddie, her son, and those people around her that love and protect her. Poor Clay is up for the challenge but she seems to be a step ahead of him sometimes; Anchorman is my hero; and, Finn who she works with in this story is a hoot. It’s a good thing that all those around Ricki can laugh at themselves and yet take every situation seriously in order to save lives. Thanks for a great story!
Somewhere around 40%, (when you were adding more characters for me to have to consider as the "killer") you gave me a " twist" and took away the person I had identified as "Option A" !! It's usually at this point that I start looking at my next book to read ! But not this time ! I said, out loud, "so that's how you want to play this"! My wife looked at me from the den and asked, " Did you say something "? I answered, "Nope, just thinking out loud" (kind of like Ricci James!!) Rather than give away any more of this book to "potential detectives", I will simply state to anyone reading this review, YOU JUST HAVE TO READ THIS BOOK !!! Thank You Again, C.R. Chandler!! I'm off to read the next book in this series !!
Having become addicted to this series after reading the first two, I was truly disappointed in Ricki's final revelation regarding the villain. When this character was introduced, and little attention was paid to this character's movements, this character became my immediate choice as a villain. How each of the agents missed the signs was puzzling. The explanations for the heinous actions seemed like an after-thought. The final resolution for the conflicts, and the newly formed relationships were not fully developed in this book. I will, however, read on.
Another spine-tingling adventure tale from CR Chandler. I like and admire Ricki James, especially because she is not your typical sleuth. She can handle herself and help others as well. Her buddies are also different, all of that equals an outstanding series of stories. It was a pleasant surprise to NOT be able to guess the antagonist this time. I love this series, I hope there will be many more to come from CR.
I really like the main characters especially Anchorman. I enjoy his attitude and his dedication to having Rick's back. I like the other characters you have added as you develop your stories. Now I need to add the next book in this series. Thanks for a good read.
Ricki is asked Togo to Utah to check on the possibility of several bodies over the entire state being related to each other and killed by one person. She and her team work together in Utah. Good fun reading. Looking forward to anymore adventures for Ricki and the other great characters. Not a fan of Clay though.
Wow these books never disappoint!! Nail biting suspense that keeps you on the edge of your seat. A lot of action and great twist and great twists and turns. I love Ricki James snd all her team. Great characters. I am looking forward to the next one.
I really enjoy agent James book and hope they continue for awhile longer..I know some get to a point to end a series and go to something else but I do like Ricki's stories..thanks
This story will keep you on your toes! Its a good "who done it"! I love the interactions between the characters and the descriptions of the scenery. It makes you feel like you are there!
Great story. I like not knowing who the killer is until the end. However, I did figure out this one, before the end, although clues were subtle. Interesting characters and action moves along. Still needs some editing.
Once again Ricki James is called on to find a killer. This time in Utah. A mixed group of law enforcement and a former military sniper attempt to find out who is hunting and killing in the National Park! Will they all survive?
Another fantastic thriller story in this terrific series that will keep you guessing until the very end. It's a definite must read book and series. I would definitely recommend this book, series, and outstanding author.
Even though the identity of the killer is never a surprise in any of the Ricki James books, the plots are interesting and the characters are well developed.
Excellent series continues. Love these characters and that Ricki and Clay are deepens their personal relationship, despite Ricci's insecurities. On to the next murder mystery.
