Can six boys and a pair of wolves save humanity from a savage insurmountable evil?
Winter’s Wind is an ancient tale of altruism, grit, and brotherhood against impossible odds.
Four winters have passed since the events of The Eagle Feather. The young Auroch boys, of Emil’s winter group, are on the cusp of The Trials of Manhood. With the coming spring thaw, the boys must leave the tribe and survive a full moon cycle in The Wilderness. A harsh, desolate high country infested with ravenous Grizzlies.
In the tradition of their fathers and grandfathers before them, this daunting rite of passage must be met for acceptance as men and hunters of the Auroch People.
However, the frigid winter’s winds have reawakened an ancient evil in the world…
A.K. Vyas gave early promise of being nothing special whatsoever. He was born in the small New England village best known for the witch trials, then banished to Texas at a tender age. Being annoyingly well-read for a Texan and exceptionally stubborn as a child, the smart money predicted a brief but clumsy career as a rodeo clown, while others foresaw an early death.
To everyone’s intense disbelief, U.C. Berkeley made the mistake of admitting him, and he squeaked out a degree or two while doing silly, acrobatic, things in small planes. The Navy eventually decided it was safer for all parties involved (including the enemy) if he didn’t fly jets. Like most wayward souls he ended up on Wall Street, a lifestyle interrupted from time to time by an occasional date, unless of course it was NCAA football season. (You can take a boy out of Texas, but you can't take Texas out of the boy.)
To date, his young family has survived two Category 5 hurricanes, and an infatuation with TexMex cast iron skillet recipes. Europe is currently home, and for unknown reasons, people on the street everywhere always ask him for directions. The Eagle Feather is his debut attempt at the ancient art of storytelling, and was written for his beautiful, perfect, athletic, and wonderful son.
I accidentally bought and read book 3, almost when I was done that I realized this was a series. I then purchased the other 3. I have always loved reading historical romance with Native Americans. These books reminded me of them. The 6 boys in the series was described so clearly and what they done that I could easily see them in my mind. I would recommend this series to anyone that likes the Native Americans books, I like the Native American's brave that ends up with the White female romance. These had romance in the books but they focused on the boys going from boys to men of their tribe, and the things they did becoming men. My hat, off to you By as for the details that you put in the stories, I could see the environment, tribes, the people even though it mammoths and other animals but the story for me was over the top for me, job more than well done.
Vyas is a gifted writer. There are very few authors who achieve what Vyas has with his remarkable writing style. The richness of the story line coupled with the character building completely draws you in. These books have kept me up reading and I've ignored my chore list...as will you. Vyas is amongst the best authors I've ever read. I've read two of the four books in the series and had to stop to write this review. Yup...its that good.
Ok! Ok!! Ok!!! I admit it! From the beginning I fought tears, but failed miserably in the end. If more people possessed the loyalty, compassion, ethics, morality, love, and bravery along with belief in themselves, the world would definitely be a better place. Good job author, Vyas!
I don't normally write reviews because I'm not good at it, and they require 20 words. I recommend this series to old and young alike, though. It's about people who care about each other and live lives of community, adventure, danger, and challenges. Good storytelling that kept me involved.
I loved this book. Enjoyed the first but this one brought me to tears. Loved the characters. Lots of action and then more action. Already bought the next book and will read the whole series. The lives and challenges of our ancestors were very well depicted. They faced dangers and hardships and faced death every day. Thank you for such a well written book
The Six,,, and then there was 2,,, and I cried and cried,,,these characters jumped off the page and into my heart. I was, at times, holding my breath,, covering my eyes ( don't ask ),,, gasping for breath,,,tearing up,,, laughing out loud,,,all the things !! Just get book 1 and read for yourself 😁,,, you'll be glad you did.
A superior read with mostly believable, but always likeable, characters. Very good plot lines and brought it all together before the end. I thoroughly enjoyed both books. Good luck and keep writing.
This one started out slow. The boys getting ready for their manhood trials, were lectured, and went through physical training I found myself skimming much of that. Once their trail started the book gets better. Although not as good as the first book, I'll still give this one four stars.
By as has a wonderful gift of creating humanistic scenes, emotions and people that just feel real! This is one of the most enjoyable books I've ever read!
The saga of the Aurora Six was spellbinding as they met each crisis with courage strength and unbelievable sacrifice How can a legend such as this not survive
Enjoyable true to nature on life heartless were some lovable were others. Easy reading. Really liked the characters. Can't wait for more books by author
This book was fabulous! It kept me on the edge of my seat. I laughed, gasped and cried at the end. The third book I bet is even better. Getting it now.
