Kristiana Sfirlea is the award-winning author of The Stormwatch Tales, a darkly whimsical horror fantasy series for teens and young adults. Grab your umbrella and favorite ghost-hunting tutu—Legend of the Storm Sneezer has returned to haunt bookshelves across the worlds!

Like their popular characters Rose and Marek, Kristiana has faced some scary things in their life—though their ghosts and monsters look a little different. But like their characters, Kristiana has learned that the best way to face your fears is by making friends with them.

Kristiana's dream is creating safe places for readers to explore their experiences through the power of storytelling. As a disabled, queer, autistic author of faith, Kristiana has found the safest place in their books. Their greatest joy is when readers do the same.

Kristiana loves Jesus, laughing too hard at their own jokes, imaginary life with their characters, and real life with their partner.

This author never fails to take me on the most imaginative tales I've read in fiction! What a thrilling and exciting adventure I just finished!

And I can't even talk about HOW because of spoilers!

I will say that one thing I have loved most about this series (well ONE thing I have loved most because there are many! Just check out my video review HERE for all the reasons I loved book one!) is that Rose and Marek talk directly to or about the reader. I have not seen this done in fiction before and it makes me smile every time because how fun is it to have our favorite characters talk TO and ABOUT you?!

Another thing I will say is that Rose and Marek continue to be some of my favorite characters ever! They are SO much fun to read about, but I am continuously in awe of how Sfirlea can write such a moving friendship with ZERO shipping from me! Maybe that sounds weird but this is truly a phenomenal friendship where that is just what they are. Best friends! And I absolutely love it! I don't know of many fictional reads where we have zero romance and a super fun friendship that you root for like this!

The story itself is out of this world! (And that was no pun intended, but we are keeping it a pun intended now LOL) Seriously, I don't even know what to say except that if you thought Storm Sneezer was imaginative, this one takes the crown for even MORE imaginative! I wouldn't have thought I would REALLY enjoy funeral parlor humor but I did! The scare bears did make me nervous with jitters at times, but unlike last time, I made sure to read during the day so I would be less paranoid. LOL! I also feel that I really need to try some maple syrup! LOL!

That cliff hanger of an ending!!! I feel I THINK I know what's to come in what's revealed but I'm unsure if this is true or not in thinking so. (Can I have a paradox of myself come tell me if I'm right or not?!" LOL)

There were so many good twists and turns in this novel that I'm once again reeling in the awesomeness of this series! I can't wait to read more of Rose and Marek's adventures because they take us readers on some of the best fictional adventures I know of!

This was PHENOMENAL! This is well on its way to becoming 1 of my top favorite series. The current 2 books out are already 2 of my top favorites of all time. There’s just something so unique, refreshing, creative, & just amazing about the authors writing style-& just her writing period. I love how she has Rose not only occasionally talking TO us the reader, but she even has Rose & Marek talking ABOUT us occasionally as well! It’s the best.

I can’t say much, so not to spoil the 1st, but wowza. Just as much adventure, mystery, suspense, action, danger, friendship, & humor. Man, the humor! The dialogue in these books always gets me LITERALLY laughing out loud! Rose has some of the best comes backs, & just every word she says or even thinks is sooooo good! I love this magic system, & everything we have learned so far-all so creative, complex, & vividly detailed.

We learn more about 1 characters abilities & their past in this as well, & I was fascinated by it all. I was engrossed from the beginning really. I didn’t want to put it down, & I didn’t want it to end. This has 1 of my favorite “found family” scenarios. I love this amazing group of people. My favorite are Rose & Marek & their friendship though. Their bond is so strong & special. The author does such an amazing job at making you FEEL what they mean to each other. They are meant to be in each other’s lives, & you know they would be lost without the other.

I love everything we have learned so far, & I’m so eager to learn more-especially about Stormy & also time traveling! & THAT ENDING??!! Are you kidding me?? Lol It was so superb, & then my jaw was left hanging open-I need that 3rd book! Lol I am continually impressed with the authors character & world building also. The world building in this was mind blowing-literally lol I would’ve had such a headache if I were the author trying to build up the world in this adventure & make everything come together perfectly, make sense, & be utterly AMAZING..she did that & more-TALENT.

I wish there were a future me to bring this little me all future books in this series(please please please be a TON more to come🤞🏻)! I also want to give HUGE props to the author who continued to write this during a very serious health scare(to learn more visit her IG, or read the authors note in the back after reading the book!). She dealt with A LOT, but didn’t leave her Rose wandering around lost, & she didn’t leave Reader Name Here___ wandering around lost waiting for her next work of art of a story. Not many could have done that. So even though it would have been totally understandable-THANK YOU! I pray for your continued health, & I’m always in awe of your strength & perseverance. If you couldn’t tell-HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Lol Another STUNNING cover & inside illustrations sprinkled throughout too by Anastasiakhm812!💜

I received an ARC of this book, and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

Spoilers for book 1 ahead!

Rose and the other Blackouts are assigned to wish the Wishing Mist out of existence, taking the will-o’-the-wisps with it. Their mission brings them to a town hosting a maple syrup festival (to Marek’s delight!) However, bodies are going missing from the funeral parlor, giant squonks are lurking in the woods, and animatronic teddy bears are out for blood. Luckily, their future selves are there to assist, and the will-o’-the-wisps are being somewhat helpful. But as they get closer to the Wishing Mist, Rose and Marek start to wonder if getting rid of the will-o’-the-wisps is really the right thing to do. After that, they were the ones who brought Rose and Marek together. Are they really as evil as everyone seems to think?

Rose and the gang are back for another adventure! This book is jam-packed with action, mysteries, and suspense! It’s also hilarious; Rose and Marek are practically comedians as well as Blackouts! Sketchy characters, plot twists, and near-death experiences kept me turning the pages until I reached the end!

The world-building was amazing once again! I thought the first book had some crazy world-building, but Legend of the Rainbow Eater was even crazier! Picture Five Nights at Freddy’s meets Gravity Falls. Sounds great, right? It was!

Can I have a paradox of myself bring me a copy of book 3 from the future? I’m not sure I can wait that long! I am very much looking forward to more adventures with these characters!

I definitely would recommend this series! I’m sure it would be a great read for middle grade readers and up! If you haven’t already checked out book 1 in this series, you should go ahead and grab a copy!

Somehow even better than the first book? What is this sorcery?

I loved this. This author has enough imagination to fill hundreds of books, and I certainly hope she does.

One of my favorite aspects of this was how Rose wrestled with faith, the future, and the general sense of the unknown. Can’t wait to read more of this author soon!

Taking place after the events of Legend of the Storm Sneezer (Rose gets kidnapped and taken to an asylum for angels with unstable magic, makes friends, and saves the world from a hoard of ghosts along the way), Rose and the Blackouts, a group of asylum patients and orderlies tasked with finding the mythical creatures from Blackout’s Tales, are given an assignment—to wish the Wishing Mist out of existence to prevent anyone from using it for ill. But things don’t go exactly as planned as the Blackouts wake up in a town called Mapleton, where one bizarre event after another takes place, all leading up to a hostile takeover by teddy bears and hellhounds.

Legend of the Rainbow Eater is quite the sequel. And dare I say, Sfirlea really outdid herself on this one! While the plot was somewhat complicated near the end and took a moment for me to puzzle out, it was certainly a wild and enjoyable ride. All the events ended on such a twisted cliffhanger, I have to know more! It was similar to the ending of Now You See Me 2. Somewhat confusing, a bit crazy, and leaves you saying, What!?

As always, Rose and Marek are one of my favorite Middle Grade duos, with their very steady and interesting friendship. Rose and her odd habit of licking magical things, and Marek with his steady, solid attitude and very rational fear of squonks. I did enjoy how the characters developed throughout the story, especially Aiden and Sephone. Though, in my opinion, Sephone could use a little bit more of humble pie, if you know what I mean. But one can only change their nature so much.

The dialogue felt so natural. I mean, have you ever read a book where the characters talking to each other feels a tad forced in some scenes and slightly ridiculous in others? Yeah, there’s none of that in this book. Every character has their own unique voice, and it all flows so naturally to leave me a tad jealous of Sfirlea’s amazing skill.

Overall, Legend of the Rainbow Eater is a funny, wild, crazy, and entertaining story of friendship, family, and faith in the impossible.

How do you follow the epicness of book one?? Sfirlea nails it with the same flair, creativity, and layers, but still keeps it fresh, new, and exciting. My eleven-year-old was thrilled by the Five Nights at Freddy's vibes and was super entertained by the little crushes. My heart beamed at the sweetness and profound insight. We both giggled throughout. Bravo, once again!

Have you had a chance to read Legend of the Storm Sneezer yet? Well, you need to finish that wonderful book so you can continue the adventures of Rose and Marek in The Stormwatch Diaries in book number 2 Legend of the Rainbow Eater!!!! Wow - four exclamation points? I must be really excited! And I am! I'm so excited to share my thoughts of this whimsically brilliant middle grade read with you! But first - go read book 1!

All caught up? Great! Now, what are Rose and Marek up to in book 2? Well, Rose - remember she wants to be a part of the Blackouts - finally gets to go on a mission! She and the rest of the team find themselves in the town of Mapleton and "sticky situations abound." The Blackouts discover prowling hellhound gypsies whose motives are mysterious, giant squonks (you know, mutated squirrels), missing bodies from the local funeral parlor, and giant automaton teddy bears with a taste for bodily harm! The connection between all this? The will-o'-the-wisps, and Boss Man Ragnar wants the Wishing Mist wished out of existence! But remember book 1? The will-o'-the-wisps are what brought Rose and Marek together. Will Rose and Marek be able to figure out what is really happening in Mapleton? Will the legend of the Wishing Mist cease to exist or is there some way, any way, to save both people and the legend itself?

Wow wow wow! My brain is still processing this wonderfully whimsical story! And I really want some ice cream (The funeral parlor in the book has an ice cream parlor next door, of course). I loved the twists and turns, but most of all I adored the themes of friendships, grace, second chances, and faith. Sfirlea does an excellent job of weaving the lessons into her story beautifully - you learn the themes without realizing you've been taught something and that's talented writing. I truly cannot wait for more from The Stormwatch Diaries!

10/10 I would recommend this book!

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All viewpoints and opinions are my own.

Rating: 5/5: perfect sequel to the perfect book!
-
-The quirky legend herself is back and she’s edger, she’s spunkier, and she’s more talented then ever- honestly this book was amazing!

-The writing-

-The dialogue guys- THE DIALOGUE! I was laughing out loud during both these books!

-The authors’ writing has improved tremendously, which says a lot, because the writing in the first one was already really good. Seriously, Kristina is so clever, she will charm you with her humor and wit whether you want her to or not, I’m sure of it.

-The story/plot/characters-

-Oh my gosh! I want to adopt all these characters! They now live in my mind rent free whenever I need a good laugh!

-The friendship! Oh the friendship! I will never stop loving the friendship elements in these books! I will protect Rose and Marek with my life!! Don’t you dare hurt them! (Ahem)

-I love the scar bears, I want plushies! Lol 😂

-Basically everything I loved that was in the first book, increased in this one.

-Personally I think I enjoyed this one more then the first, it had all the same feels, humor, and charm. But the writing was a little better, story was slightly faster, and the plot was edgier. Plus I tend to enjoy stories that establish the characters and world in book 1 so that more stuff can happen for them in the next, and I think it’s done really really well.

-It’s worth the read- don’t care if you’re eleven or a hundred and eleven, you’ll be full of joy and child-like feels reading this fantastical book! 💕

Sfirlea’s wit never ceases to amaze me. I mean, those funeral parlor and ice cream parlor jokes? Priceless. The scare bears are perfectly creepy and Rose and Marek’s friendship is the sweetest thing ever. I so appreciate her insightful quotes from Marek and Elektra especially. This one’s my favorite from Elektra: “Life is about more than being understood. It’s about doing what’s right for those around you.”

The gang is back for a whole new wild and crazy adventure full of mischief, fun, and scare bears. Readers of the first book will really enjoy this newest offering in this series. As if you did not think you could fall in love with Rose, Marek, Malachy, and Cade anymore; you would be wrong.

In the first book, readers were just really getting to know everyone. Yet in this book, the relationships have been established and therefore all there is left is to just sit back and enjoy the adventure.

Young readers will really enjoy this series of books. As will adults like me. In fact, these books can be truly enjoyed as a family. I have to tell you that I hope to never cross paths with any Scare Bears.

Uniquely Written and Super Fun!!

I don't think I've read a book quite like these books before, and I'm looking forward to when my kids are ready to read them, but I might decide to read them to the kids before then. So unique, fun, and quirky, I absolutely love them!! Kristiana Sfirlea definitely has a wonderful imagination.

Legend of the Rainbow Eater/The Stormwatch Diaries Bk 2
4 Stars

Once again Kristiana Sfirlea has hit a home run. She has a talent for weaving a complex, magical, and somewhat horrifying tale of granny snatchers and killer teddy bears. Yeah, you read that right! I'm feeling relieved that at my age most of my stuffed animals are packed in a tote in the closet. Save for a few precious ones on my bookshelves, but they would never... Would they? I digress.

I love that while LOTRE is a fun, adventurous, and wild ride, at the heart of it this story is about family (not just the blood ones), friends, and faith. This is the perfect series to read with your kids but is enjoyable enough for adults too. I seriously want to visit Mapleton and eat rigor mortis cream at the Two Parlors. Maybe minus the Scare Bears though.

If you love magic, time travel, all sorts of wild creatures, and unique characters then LOTRE is the book (the series) for you!

Rainbow Eater is a confection of delightful surprises

While many other fantasy authors are enticing middle grade readers to experience a familiar world and common characters with supernatural elements, this novel takes its readers someplace unfamiliar with larger-than-life characters and asks its readers to keep up. Legend of the Rainbow Eater challenges the reader in surprising ways. When the narrative is flowing, it interrupts it. When the big surprises seem to be done, even bigger ones are revealed. When you think it’s cute and cuddly, it rips off its fuzzy exterior to reveal its grinning skeleton underneath. Marvelous in world-building, dialogue, and description, Legend of the Rainbow Eater plops you into a one-of-a-kind adventure you never saw coming.

The writing and style mirror the first book and are top notch. Words, pages, chapters flow by like water. Though this is Ms. Sfirlea’s second book, it reads like she’s written dozens before it.

Legend of the Rainbow Eater is a worthy sequel to the excellent Legend of the Storm Sneezer. Funny and poignant, creative and relatable, Legend of the Rainbow Eater is a novel to read before you sleep at night hugging a teddy bear and dream a little dream of wishing tea kettles and rainbow promises.

It took me forever to read this book just because I was really squirrelly lately which makes all of life harder. A huge plot point of this book is the Scare Bears. They’re supposed to make you want to burn your teddy bears but I was OBSESSED with them. They were the absolute height of cursed humor. There’s a funeral/ice cream parlor that’s so cute and colorful, yet gothic. I’m recreating it in Animal Crossing as we speak. In addition to The Two Parlors, we see a lot of new places in this book and I didn’t even miss Hearthstone Academy because I was enjoying all the other places. For example, a hotel shaped like a stack of pancakes. The book is very, very wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey and it sounds crazy but you honestly need to watch Doctor Who to prepare for this book. If you read Doctor Who, it’s all very familiar. In addition to the timey-wimey aspects, we have Rose Skylar, licking unidentified magic objects, a huggy character and a character who says “Always with the hugging,” paradoxes, and “spoilers.” The ending actually made me mad for a second but it’s nothing that hasn’t happened in Doctor Who so I adjusted quickly. Overall I might have liked this a hair better than the first book. It was just so immersive.

Once again, Kristiana Sfirlea (a conjurer of joyful, rollicking, great fun) gifts readers (young and old) with her latest tale, Legend of the Rainbow Eater. In this second book of the Stormwatch Diaries Series, the bubbly, time traveling romp continues the adventures of best friends, Rose and Marek, in a unique, almost Dr. Seussical world. Sprinkled with inside jokes and asides, which delightfully break the narrator’s 4th wall, the sparkling prose continues on every page. Five stars for this magical mind tickler!
