The word no disappeared from his vocabulary in that moment, along with the word regret. And in its place stood Rhys, a man who had redeemed himself more than any man ever had in Carter’s life.
And he was ready to forgive any and every manner of sin.
My problem is that I think it took WAY too long for the reasoning to come to light. Initially, Carter doesn't confront Rhys about the date since he doesn't want to get fired (understandably, a guy's gotta eat) but then they become friends and start hanging out... catching feelings but Carter still doesn't ask?! Which frankly I did NOT understand at all, I don't care how sweet a person is to me after the fact, I'm not going to want to hang out or fall for someone who once called me a SLUR. Excuse me?!!!
