Nephilim the Summoning

Rate this book
A creature born of darkness and sin. I am Nephilim. The discovery of what I am has left me reeling, but it has also left me with some amazing powers, a gorgeous pair of black wings and four hot guys in my bed. You’ve got to look on the bright side. Caught up in a world of powerful relics and ancient gods, I am torn between trying to rescue my mother from her kidnappers or tracking down the powerful artefact they are seeking. The Concordia can’t find out what I am, or I’ll be condemned for eternity, but it seems like I am not the only one keeping secrets. I need to rely on the powers and devotion of my Guardians, but I’m not sure who I can trust. When everything around us is falling apart, will we be able to stay together? Or is there a worse betrayal ahead?

Chasing hints in Italy and Germany, our group finds themselves always one step behind. Book two had some nice twists and turns, though the FMC does fall prone to a lot of emotional immaturity. Though I suppose that's not strange compared to beings who are centuries if not millennia old. The end of the book has some definite heartbreak wrapped with vengeful ribbons so I'm curious to see where the story takes us next.

What a sequel! This book took the suspense and intrigue from the first book and turned it up several notches. Its fast-paced action scenes had me hooked, and the calmer moments in between served both sweetness and spice. It ends on quite a juicy cliffhanger that I can’t wait to find out how it gets resolved.

As in the first book, an author’s note at the beginning provides possible triggers and content warnings that I highly recommend are taken into account when deciding to read this book.

If it wasn’t bad enough to find out her mother has gone missing, twenty four year old Faith discovers her mom, Rose, was part of a supernatural world kept hidden from humanity, and worse, Faith herself is a part of it too. Having escaped being kidnapped and tortured for information on an ancient relic, Faith wants nothing more than to find the monsters responsible for it all, and eventually learn more about her new powers; knowing she must keep them a secret from all but the men who she’s come to care for.

Now fully ingrained in all things supernatural, Faith relies on the support of her team of caring, gorgeous Guardians who she can’t get enough of, thankful that the comfort they share between them all is the one bright spot she can look toward in the recent chaos of her life. Armed with new information and a renewed sense of purpose, Faith and her team of men set out to find the elusive Spear of Destiny all while dodging ruthless attacks and more attempted kidnappings by enemies who seem to always be one step ahead.

They’re more motivated than ever to find Rose and keep the Spear out of dangerous hands, but when sinister ministrations are revealed and wicked enemies join the fray, Faith and her men find themselves greatly outmatched. With betrayals ripping everything apart and a dangerously powerful relic in the mix, can Faith and the men she’s grown close to come out of the melee intact, or will everything fall apart around them?

This book starts off right where the last ended, and the pacing is a steady climb toward an explosive ending. It has more of everything: more spice, more suspense, and more shocking twists that had me unable to put the book down. It showcases more of the supernatural world to fill in the gaps from the first book and introduces other new aspects without unloading piles of info on readers.

The different relationships between the MCs grew stronger, and I liked seeing them interacting more individually rather than in a group. The group is a perfect fit, but being able to see the personalities of the characters and how they act when alone with the MC made it all the more better. I hope to see more intimate moments between the group outside of the bedroom, because as great as that is, it’s nice to see them as partners caring for each other outside of their pleasure as well.

The story itself just keeps getting better and more intricate, making for a read full of tension and mysteries that I can’t wait to be solved. I love how the author is slowly piecing the puzzle together and is taking readers along for the ride; not giving too much or too little away at a time.

I really enjoyed this second instalment and I’m excited to read the rest of the series and see how this group of characters copes with the cliffhanger they got at the end of the book!

This one was a better. It was giving Indiana Jones/National Treasure and I'm here for it. Loved that.

The betrayals were predictable. I called Hargreaves (although not in the correct sense) and I was definitely wondering if Rose was really kidnapped based on the strength of the spells in the cellar of the house and that alter.

I'm still curious about the parents. I feel like there's more to the story there that we haven't gotten yet.

With that being said, I'm off to the next one.

....p.s.... I still hate Cas 🖕🏽

This series is the first I've read from Blackthorne and honest I am so impressed two books in. The amount of plot, romance, action, and overall amazing character moments fit into such short books is astounding. I still can't believe that I was crying by the end of a 209-page book. In this sequel we have already established these amazing relationships between all these characters, so it allowed the author to really focus more on building off of that and strengthening it while having all this chaos go on around them. For the amount of moments and overall action packed into this book, I felt perfectly paced and so much longer than it actually was but in a good way. I felt like I got just as much needed detail and world building from this very short book just as much as I've gotten from some of my 600-700 plus fantasy books. I am honestly so impressed and the last third of this book honestly just completely threw me for a spin and revelations I barely saw coming just kept coming and coming but in a very plausible way.

I loved learning alongside Faith as she discovered more of where she came from and what she is capable of. It just makes me so much more excited to see what the hell is going to go on in the next book because I am ready for what it might be. That being said, I have no idea where the Sheol this story is going to go but you can bet you ass I will definitely be reading to find out.

Nephilim the Summoning is the second book in the Wrath of the Fallen series by Elizabeth Blackthorne. It begins after the ending of the previous book Nephilim the Awakening. I didn’t think that this series could get any better than the previous book but oh boy how wrong I was because this book totally blew my mind.

Faith continues to grow into a stronger character throughout this book especially as she begins to discover the truth about who she is. She still has her sassy mouth which makes for great banter with the other characters. The truth about Alex is finally revealed and it absolutely breaks my heart that he views himself as a monster especially since he is such a sweet heart.

Oh my gosh I thought that there were secrets and twists in the last book but this one had even more. I was shocked, confused, angry and absolutely heartbroken. And those were only the beginning of the emotions that I felt.

Words cannot describe just how much the cliffhanger hurt my heart. I’m not religious in any way but I am praying that the next book isn’t going to be as heartbreaking as what I think it’s going to be.

I recieved an advanced copy for free, and this is my honest opinion.

wowwwww

So I’m guessing her mom was Asherah, I’ve been thinking it for a while now. But I don’t think her father was a demon, I think he was Azrael and that’s why she has both ravage and rapid healing. They mention the two of them way too much for it not to be her parents or somehow involved. But I could be wrong and it could’ve been a demon, but I know they loved each other and that’s why he Fell so I’m guessing it was them. I’m really worried about Euriel, he’s definitely got feelings for her, but unless he is cast out and turned Fallen, I don’t see how this ends well. He likely would turn her in but that would break my heart cuz even though he’s definitely arrogant, he’s started to come around. We shall see where that goes, but I don’t know if she would have him as a mate. I’m wondering what her shifted form is and how the heck they could get Amadi back or if he’d even be able to withstand that and live.

angels, demons - it keeps getting better

I purchased this book via Amazon and am leaving my review voluntarily. It is book 2 in a continuing paranormal RH series.

Triggers:
m/m interaction, mmf, mmfm, torture

Spoilers:
You must read book 1. This continues Faith's quest to find her adopted mom and explore who and what she is.

Faith's emerging powers surprise everyone. Alot of action. Some dark parts. Sexy time too.

This is a RH but Faith does have individual relationships with each guy. The author is doing a nice job weaving her story. I like all the history and religious references.

Ends on a cliffhanger but book 3 is due out July 30, 2021.

What a ride. This reminds me of the Da Vinci Code but paranormal. Just like the first book, the lore and mystery came out on top for me. I loved the author’s twist on the angel/demon/nephilim and the paranormal world. The different interpretations and variations on religion, artifacts and history were refreshing.

I loved the ending. Some parts were, of course, predictable but there were a few twists I really enjoyed. There were also some heartbreaking moments that I hope we learn more about and are resolved in the next books. Plus there was some tension between characters, different dynamics, beliefs being questioned and that little cliffhanger. I’m ready for book 3.

talk about a cliffhanger! these books are action packed and so beautifully and vividly written. the spice level really amped up in this book and all the connections are really forming into beautiful relationships. i’m excited to see Euriel’s thoughts change as he heals and find where this new perspective takes him. also, how will they save Amadi and bring him back where he belongs? this ultimate betrayal was one i absolutely did not see coming from Rose, but Hargreaves was starting to give me traitor vibes throughout this second book. i usually don’t post reviews with spoilers, but i just have some very specific questions this time so here we are i guess🤷🏼‍♀️

Wow. Elizabeth has done it again. Nephlum the summoning picks up right where book 1 left us wanting. Throughout this book you learn more about Faith and her origins/heritage. When we finally learnt what Alex is, it broke my heart how much he hates himself for just being what he is.

There were so many incredible plot twists that I just did not see coming and I am in awe at how well it was all put together! I cannot wait for the next book and too see where Elizabeth takes us next!

Wow, just wow, did you see it coming, nope me either!

Elizabeth has delivered a stunning 2nd book in this series. The twists and turns keep this story line building and there are some you just don't see coming till its in your face. I literally can nit wait to see where she takes them next.

One thing i think we can all agree on is how the steam is turning up because of Holy hotness, yes!!! Keep it coming, because I'm here for more!!!

I'm having a great time with this series so far! There are definitely some annoying tropes that pop up, and this book could have done with one more pass by a solid editor, to clarify some of the dialogue portions and catch some weird phrasings.

But Faith is starting to come into herself a bit more, and of course all the men have continued to grow as characters. The spice is 5 stars for sure.

Creative Plot

I liked this book. A lot happened in a short space of time. She fell for the guys, went on a dangerous adventure that involved kidnapping and torture. She learned to fly, met family members. She found out she had powers, and the betrayal! Wow! That cut deep. The ending, was so so. Didn’t expect it, and not really sure how I feel about it. Will see in the next book.

This series pulls from a lot of well-established tropes, and it makes the read fun. Several of the twists were very surprising, and I can honestly say I didn't see it coming. If I had one criticism, it would be that sometimes the sex scenes don't naturally flow with the story and feel a bit forced, but overall I appreciate the level of steam.

Wow is all I can say

The search for her mom continues while more questions arise this book definitely throws down slot of bombs and jaw dropping secrets that were not seen coming. Definitely lots of triggers and betrayal but I love her personality and the guys. I am really rooting for the angel right now .

Amazing

This book was bloody amazing! I literally couldn’t put it down, I love the plot of the book, I love how well written the book was. But most of all, I loved the characters and how easy it was to relate to our heroine. I can’t wait to read the next instalment. Although, a being that is the child of a demon and an angel is actually a Nephalem

solid 4 stars from me

This is a hold series so far. I’m not super excited and happy about the choices the characters make, but that’s ok. That’s why it’s 4 and not 5 stars to me. I’ll be reading the next book, though!

Intense

This book was intense. From the sex scenes which were hot as hell, to the "world gone to shit" ending. There were a lot of twists and turns, but not too many that you would get lost or confused. I love that we're starting to get more back story on the guys too.

Alright folks, this book was...everything I wanted and then some. It was so captivating that I couldn't put it down once I started reading. Reading it hurt so good that I almost cried while reading some it. Just when I thought I had the book figured out, Blackthorne throws in a twist that I didn't see coming. She must have done her research because it took some common cliché moments and twisted them at the right moments. I was left at the edge of my seat wanting to know what happened next. The pacing was great and the plot was not scarified for steamy moments. The amount of attention given to the plot, the characters and their quirks is a level of attention that I haven't seen in a while. I even did a while blog post about the book, so check that if you want to read more of my thoughts on the book.

I received a free copy of this book via the author and am voluntarily leaving a review.
