On the eve of the election, a religious fanatic begins threatening one of the candidates, resulting in the death of a Secret Service Agent when things escalate beyond simple death threats. Former Special Forces Sergeant John Taylor and his FBI Agent partner Loretta Whitaker are tasked with finding the maniac before he can kill anyone else, including possibly the future President of the United States. Things are complicated by the Secret Service, who don't approve of Taylors unorthodox methods, forcing the pair to once again work outside the system to accomplish their goal.

Heck yeah, Taylor and Whitaker taking names and kickin' arse!! This was an entertaining case. The religious aspect was interesting but it was only a small part of the story. Taylor having to go against a fellow Special Forces soldier was exciting to see too. Oh and Kara with a gun was *chef's kiss*
On another note, Secret Service in this book are useless compared to the Secret Service in Radclyffe's Honor Series.
This story clearly presents the conflict between defenders and aggressors. While this probably emphasizes the lone wolf manner of finding and stopping the evil, far too many people in law enforcement will find this a poor work, because of their faith in the “system”. Defense is always reactive to threats. As in locking the empty barn after the livestock has run off. Eventually, even the most career minded wake up and smell the coffee. Or maybe the gunfire. And make allowances for different strokes.
Another Five Star read. As usual, it was very difficult to put the book down. Lots of really annoying but interesting characters. The vast majority of which just make John Taylors life harder. Taylor spends more time battling ‘egos’ than the bad people. Once again a big thank you to the author, Travis Starnes. Keep up the good work ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Great story with believable characters. Fast paced detective plot mixed with action. Interesting technical details build a great background. A nice mix of military and detective threads.
