Cathy Liggett is a New York Times bestselling author and an ACFW Carol award winner. She is also an Ohio girl who never dreamed her writing journey would take her across the world and to Amish country, too. But she's learned God's plans for our lives are often more creative than the ones we imagine for ourselves. That includes re-meeting her husband at a high school reunion and marrying three months later--over forty years ago. She enjoys visiting kids and grandkids, spoiling the family pup, and knitting too (if the pattern isn't too tough!).

This book was Cathy Liggett’s first book with Harlequin Love Inspired . It is a story that reached out and grabbed me in from the first page. The book is about past mistakes and forgiveness. One of the characters had died because of a drug abuse addiction. Yes even the Amish people suffer from this terrible addiction. I loved the characters and the Author’s story line and her writing style that made the story so realistic. This story was about second chance romance and I loved that there are three adorable preschool Amish Children that are a big part of this book. These little ones wrap themselves around your heart from the beginning. It was an easy read and a very moving heart felt story. I loved every minute I spent reading this book.

I highly recommend to readers of Amish Fiction and Love Inspired books.

I purchased a signed copy of this book at an Author’s panel discussion. A review was not requested. All thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.

HER SECRET AMISH MATCH by Cathy Liggett is the delightful, well-written story of Hannah Miller and Jake Burkholder as each is working through their individual problems and how maybe – just maybe – they can be of help to one another.

Hannah is a young woman whose life has never been easy. Orphaned and always trying to fit in or feel accepted, she’s finally found her niche – sewing. She’s been working towards a goal of someday taking over the shop she’s been employed at when the owner retires. Those dreams are dashed when a big chain store moves into town taking away most of their customers. Along with a huge rent increase, it’s the last straw for the present owner making it impossible hang on any longer. She had to let Hannah go as she is forced to close her shop doors. What will happen to Hannah and her aunt now with no income?

Jake lost his wife, Lily, two years ago. He’s now trying to make a living off the farm that was once his parents while taking care of Sarah, almost 6, and Eli and Clara, a set of 4 year old twins. With winter approaching, he knows he’s going to have to find other ways to support his family, but who will watch over his children? He’s not found a nanny that’s worked so far. How can he leave for work and be at home with his children at the same time?

Jake, Lily and Hannah were best of friends growing up. Hannah thought of Lily as not only her best friend, but like a sister. She had once even thought of Jake as more than a friend with hopes of a future together. Then she had to leave to take care of her aunt and things changed. Lily and Jake married and the friendships became somewhat strained. After Lily’s sudden death, Hannah tried to help out Jake as much as she could. However, she’s determined to keep her feelings for Jake hidden because giving in to them would only get her hurt again. She loved caring for the children and doing special things for them growing as fond of them as if they were her own. When Jake was offered his old job back, it seemed like the answer to his prayers. When Hannah lost her job and income, Jake was quick to offer her and her aunt the dawdi house, which she accepted on the condition that he allow her to play matchmaker in order to find a wife and mother for his children. She’s has several successful matches to her credit finding it easier to make matches than think of any romantic thoughts of her own. She readily agreed to watch the children making it a perfect arrangement for them both. Or was it?

Will being around one another every day have old feelings being revived? Can Jake make peace with the past in order to have a future? Will revealing his secrets finally give him freedom? Will Hannah ever find her “place” in life? Will trying to match Jake up with available woman only open their eyes to what is right before them? Will it take three small children to show them that things work in God’s time? Did they miss their time way back when or has their time just begun? Will the hidden truths about the past bring healing and clear the path for a future?

HER SECRET AMISH MATCH is an amazing story of second chances - love thought lost but founding it to still exists. It’s a story woven with a thread of faith, undying love, patience, family, never giving up on one’s dreams and the innocence of little children all crafted in a story that will tug at your heart and have you turning pages hoping for a happily ever after. Cathy Liggett does not disappoint leaving this reader happy and smiling as I finished the last page. Definitely a FIVE STAR book well worth reading and sharing with others on what a wonderful book it is.

Her Secret Amish Match, by Cathy Liggett, is a well-written story, sure to hold your attention. The cover of the book fits the story
and draws you in, as you learn more about the people in this Amish Christian fiction novel. Cathy Liggett's writing
is beautiful, clear, and fits well with this genre.
I want to say, the main characters in this book reflect a genuine Christlike attitude of serving others, being so kind and
considerate of others, and thinking of what's best for others, instead of focusing on themselves and their wants.
It is SUCH a lovely picture of true Christianity, I wish I knew people like them.
Hannah Miller is the main character, with Jake Burkholder in a close second place. Hannah's feelings were crushed by
Jake marrying her best friend, Lily. Now she keeps busy working at a material and sewing goods store, owned by
an Englisch woman, and Hannah is quite satisfied. She may inherit the store after Grace retires, and sewing has been
a God-given talent of Hannah's.
Jake is a widower, focused on providing for his children, and working hard to keep the family running smoothly. He and
Hannah have known each other for a long time, and Hannah visits them, with new clothes for the children, or
a meal she has prepared.
Hannah's main focus is keeping her heart protected from another devastating hurt. She does this by being a matchmaker
in the Amish community, with good results and happily married couples.
God and God's Son, Jesus, are mentioned frequently, which is a wonderful quality I like to ascribe to God-honoring
Christian fiction. I expect to see it, and see it openly and often, in Christian fiction. When I don't see Jesus mentioned openly
in a Christian fiction book, it makes me wonder about why they didn't. Mrs. Liggett has been faithful in her Christian witnessing in this story. Thank you, Cathy for writing this book. What matters is what's done for Jesus. Romans 10:8-13; John 3:16-21

I loved this book!!! This is one of the best Love Inspired Amish books that I've read. It had so much depth to it which must be hard to do given the shorter length of the LI books. I liked Hannah and was inspired by how she was always helping people. I enjoyed watching Hannah and Jake discover their feelings for each other. I also enjoyed the role the children and Hannah's aunt played. If you like Amish fiction, I highly recommend this book!

Her Secret Amish Match is an enjoyable story written by Cathy Liggett. The characters are very likeable and realistic. I really enjoyed the character Hannah Miller. Hannah thinks of herself as a good matchmaker but in this story she doesn't see what's right in front of her. Hannah is always helping others and early takes time for herself but when her dream job is lost she finds herself adrift. When she is offered a place to live and take care of her best friends children she thinks she has everything under control. There are many twist and turns throughout this story which will definitely keep the readers interest. There are also secrets revealed which may cost Hannah a life long friendship. This is a very moving story filled with loss, friendship, love, and faith.

I was not given a complimentary copy of this book to read and review. I was not approached to post a favorable response and all opinions are my own. I have rated this story with five stars for meeting my expectations of a wonderful story that I can highly recommend to others.

Her Secret Amish Match is a heartwarming story filled with depth and strong characters. Hannah Miller was pleased being a matchmaker and sewing for others creating unique items for their homes. Her heart was broken once and she wasn’t seeking romance but enjoyed seeing others happy. Jake Burkholder knew heartache and appreciated Hannah acting as a Nanny to his children but he just couldn’t imagine being matched with someone in their community. It was delightful how Liggert created this story adding in Hannah’s aunt, the children and others that I didn’t want the story to end.

I won a copy of this book from the author in a Facebook giveaway without any obligation to write a review. I have expressed my own thoughts. I look forward to reading more books by this author in the future.

What a beautiful story full of secrets and forgiveness, hope and love. I admired sweet Hannah as she continually thought of others before herself as she trusted God for her present and future. It was written so well that I could feel the Children’s hugs.

This was such an enjoyable Amish story with two main characters who clearly had feelings for each other, but were not actually a couple. I loved learning more about these two as they were growing up. They clearly had feelings for each other then, too, but life got in the way and Jake ended up married to their friend, Lily, instead of Hannah. I liked that in Hannah's memories of Lily, even though her heart was hurt that Lily and Jake ended up married, she still cared deeply for Lily and wanted what was best for both of them.

Jake's children were so sweet and were an integral part of the story. They were written very realistically and I liked seeing how much Hannah loved them. They loved her, too. It was clear to pretty much everyone that Jake and Hannah loved each other and that they would make a beautiful family with the children. It simply took awhile for all of that to play out and for Jake to let go of some past guilt he carried around, too.

Such a heartwarming story of love lost and secrets.

Author Cathy Liggett writes wonderful characters in Hannah and Jake. Both are dealing with the past in their own ways and yet, through all the hurt, they still care about each other. A young Amish matchmaker is an intriguing story line, and when you add some adorable children who want a mother you have many moments that will make you sigh with contentment. And others when you’ll want to shake someone to wake them up to the truth.

Grab a copy of Her Secret Amish Match, your favorite beverage, and relax into this enjoyable story. (Yes, we all know how it will end but the enjoyment is the journey of how we get there.) I highly recommend it!

I received a complimentary copy of this book but was not required to leave a review.

I love books that are quick reads on Sunday afternoons and this one was an easy, fun read that filled just the spot for me. Hannah is such a loving character, and Jake, is the perfect hero for any story. I truly enjoyed this sweet romance with touches of humor, flakes of heart tugging scenes, and a happy ever after that made me smile.

Jake Burkholder is starting to worry. He needs to work, but he’s a widower with 3 young ‘kinner’ to take care of. How is he going to provide for them if no one is around to watch them? His latest solution, a cousin, fell through when she wrote that she won’t be coming after all.
Hannah Miller, one of Jake’s best childhood friends, works at the local sewing and fabric shop in town. It’s run by a ‘Englisher’ who promised the store would go to Hannah when she retires. Hannah also cares for her wheelchair-bound aunt.
Unfortunately, with big box stores cropping up nearby, Hannah finds herself out of a job when the store owner is forced to close down. But she and Jake come to an arrangement. She will care for his children, and in return she and her aunt can move into the ‘dawdi house’ on Jake’s property.
Hannah is known around town as a matchmaker, and has decided what Jake needs more than a nanny is a wife. As they spend more time together, can the Lord - ‘Gott’ - show Jake and Hannah that the very best match may have been right in front of them this whole time?
You’ll love this sweet, page-turning Amish take from author Cathy Liggett. I certainly did!
I received a complimentary copy of this book, but my opinion is entirely my own.

I did enjoy this book so given it 5stars
I did as i was reading it thought I had read it before I hadn't but have read something very similar
I have found this tended making me guess what happens & while i was right in part not fully as was a little bit different from the book i had read
This did take a little bit away from the enjoyment but this was not the author's fault so didn't mark it down
The basic story is Hannah & Jake have been friends since childhood & he marries Lily who's family took Hannah in when she was a child & lost her parents
Lily had died & Hannah helps out as a nanny for Jake, her & her disabled aunt move in to the Dawali house
I loved the children especially Sarah who was a little mother hen
Can recommend this book

Hannah Miller loses her job and her dream of owning her own shop all at the same time. She becomes a nanny for Jake Burkholder. Hannah is also being a matchmaker for him.

Hannah and Jake are great characters. I loved the kids too and all the secondary characters. The story drew me in from the beginning and was hard to put down since I wanted to know how all the situations that cropped up would be resolved. I would definitely be interested in reading future books from this talented author.

This one was SO sweet! It brought tears to my eyes a few times and made me laugh a few more. Hannah and Jake are adorable together--completely oblivious to how the other feels, but adorable. And the kids? *sigh*

This author will definitely be on my TBR with any future books.

What a wonderful book. Hannah and Jake were always friends but Jake had married Hannah’s best friend who has passed. Hannah loves Jake’s kids and is trying to find Jake a wife but in the process wishes it could be her. Loved reading their story!

Choppy

Could have been a lot better. Very choppy. Jumping from scene to scene and much of it not making sense or even needed. Poor editing.
