He can’t deny her anything…except maybe his heart…
Ashley Woodville didn’t mean any harm when she broke into Grady Kolten’s office. It was only a dare from her friends. She wasn’t supposed to get caught. And she certainly wasn’t supposed to talk the notorious gaming hell owner (and disturbingly sexy rogue) into showing her London’s wilder side. Falling for him? Also not part of the dare. But she did it anyway. All of it…
Grady has no interest in indulging the whims of a bored (if admittedly alluring) debutante. But the idea of her stumbling inadvertently into danger doesn’t sit well with him, either. So, he’ll take part in her ridiculous escapades and do his best to keep his emotional distance. It should be easy, considering how entirely unsuitable they are. Too bad he can’t seem to remember any of that when she’s in his arms…
She’s never met a challenge she wouldn’t accept. But will the walls around Grady’s heart—and the dark secrets of his past—be too much for even the daring Ashley to conquer?
Tamara is an Australian author who grew up in an old mining town in country South Australia, where her love of history was founded. She loves to write romance novels in an array of genres, including regency, medieval, and time travel.
- It was a short and sweet version of the epic Nine Rules to Break When Romancing A Rake, with a horrid past subplot thrown in. Ashley and Grady were adorable, passionate and delicious together.
4.5 Stars When Miss Ashley Woodville steals into notorious gaming hell owner Grady Kolten’s rooms, the dare her friends set out for her does not go to plan. But quick on her feet, Ashley sees the introduction as a way to make the 1808 Season more enjoyable, but only if the formidable Grady Kolten agrees. Grady does not need the distraction of Ashley Woodville, a bored debutante partaking in challenges that could see her hurt. Nor does he appreciate being manipulated into helping her experience all that she wishes during her time in town. As their escapades ensue, Ashley becomes a delectable debutante Grady wants in his bed. As unsuitable as they are, he wants her to be his. But will his past be too much to bear? Ashley is the fourth Woodville sibling to find love & whilst it could easily be read on its own, the Woodvilles are a complete delight. I loved both Grady & Ashley, he’s built a life for himself away from the ton & the scandal that has dogged him for all of his life, Ashley wants adventure & to see life away from Mayfair, together sparks fly & their chemistry absolutely sizzles. However someone wants Ashley’s sizeable dowry & will try to get his hands on it any way he can. Another well written book with lovely characters & I devoured it in a sitting. I loved the epilogue & look forward to Millie’s story My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
I didn’t feel connected. There was something missing, some parts were entertaining. I was just not sold on their love; lust and high amusement value? Yes!
But soul aching love? Nope. 👎🏻
It was mainly because the heroine had to withstand a possible tarnished reputation and sacrifice quite a bit, when the hero could have just got ridden of his ‘hell’.
(There was more to this precarious situation that the hell; it was, however, a good part of it, one the hero could have solved).
Such a simple act that would further prove his affections for her- because it was not like he did not knew that would be a problem- he mentioned multiple times, even wondering what he might do about it.
Everything was resolved, but I’m glad I accidentally began on the fourth book of the series. I don’t think I will be continuing.
2 stars ⭐️⭐️

I really love Tamara Gill. I feel the more I read of hers the better her stories are getting. This is my 42nd book of hers I’ve read and will definitely keep reading more. I read so many books between each of her new releases I forget how good she is until I pick up another book of hers. I think I’ve given 5 stars to every read. I would give more on most of them if I could.
I am loving this series. I thought Cyrus and Julia were my favorite couple from “Speak of the Duke” but wow did I love Ashley and Grady. So fun to read and the sex was so damn good. 😊 Plus it is my favorite troupe. Hunky, hot gaming hell owner with a member of the ton. SO GOOD!
The only complaint I have is I wish they were longer reads. I just want more.
I would definitely recommend this book, this series and Tamara Gill overall.
I received an ARC of "Every Duke Has A Silver Lining," from the amazing Tamara Gill. This is her fourth book in the Wayward Woodvilles series and revolves around the life and antics of Ashley Woodville, the fourth sister to be presented to society. Ashley has a loving nature about her, always finding the best in everything and hoping to fix that which is wrong or distressing in society. She goes about learning about those more unfortunate than herself with the help of Grady Kolton, the Earl of Howley, a future Duke, but someone who is also the owner of a gaming hell. He is someone formidable that the upper class has long thought of as not worthy of his title. I have no words to express how absolutely captivating the characters and the storyline is. Tamara Gill gets better and better with each new story. Her readers become super engaged in her stories thanks to her beautiful words and well developed characters. No qualms about giving this a 6 out of 5 stars.
Ashley is easily bored and seeks adventure! Grady is a game hell owner and catches her in the midst of a dare! When he drops off her and her friends a truce is made! Grady is an Earl who will one day be a Duke. But has been ostracized and declared illegitimate by his father. They have an ugly public encounter. When he encounters Ashley after an invitation to her ball this starts a very unlikely friendship of sorts! Grady accepts her invitation to dress as a male and show her the seedier side of London including orphanages. They have several adventures but someone is watching them and blackmail is the order of the day! There are two reasons to not give this a 5!!! Grady has an argument of gigantic proportions with Ashley and his ex but not quite mistress is trying go get him back in bed!? There is no real indication that this happened.... One day they just weren't involved anymore and the mistress went away? No matter what Grady dad the Duke said as his Duchess I would have taken my rightful place because of my son!! The Duchess decides to fight now that her son found love?? Why not before?? There is a lot of steam and intense moments when you just know love is right! But HEA is fought for and won!!
Ashley Woodville is bored with society functions. On a dare, she has to take a quill from the desk of Grady Kolton, Lord Howley, except his office is in his gentleman's gaming club. Once they meet, Ashley cannot stay away from Grady and exacts a promise for him to show her places in London she could never go as a lady. Dressed as a young man, Ashley begins her adventures with Grady. All it takes is one kiss and the fire blazes between them. Soon the threat of blackmail hangs over her head and Grady's secret could be the end of their happiness. Wow! This book doesn't waste any time for the passion to explode between them and a man with a bad reputation could fall in love so fast. Heat level 5 I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
Every Duke Has a Silver Lining, by Tamara Gill. Thank you to the writer for this brilliant and wonderful love story. I was most enchanted by the characters and their strong will for passion. Grady was a true gentleman that had me sighing every time he came to Ashly’s rescue. I loved how he moved through the book like the Duke he could be. Ashley was a little bit of a different character, but I like her strong determination of not giving up to help her fellow man. When it came to affairs of the heart; I liked that she was irresistibly drawn to Grady and pure sensual ways. I loved everything about the book. Until next time my fellow readers… read on!
Tangling Tongues👅👅 ADULT Historical Recency Romance 💕 and Adventure
Liked the book, which features a young rakish earl🐺🍆⛲ who is estranged from his father, a duke. The Earl owns a gambling hell and eschews the ton society. He meets a young woman💃💋 of the ton who enters his establishment on a dare, dressed as a man.
This is a fun book with numerous ADULT scenes as well as some silly adventures. The trite phrase "Tongues👅 tangled" or were tangling👅👅 was over used throughout. Seems like there must be some other descriptions that could be used sometimes. Maybe I've read too many of this type of book because most of them are all starting to sound the same!
I received a free review copy of this book. I read the previous books in the series, and maybe I read them after they were released already, because I don’t remember the others having so many writing issues. Hopefully this will get an edit before release, because the awkward sentences had me rereading them to figure them out on several occasions. Took me right out of the story.
That being said, hopefully it won’t be an issue once it’s released. Gill is not as scrupulously historically accurate as other authors, but I mostly don’t mind. Occasionally an anachronism will jar (for me it’s mostly just the character names), but if you go into the story aware of it beforehand, and don’t sweat it, you’ll be fine. If you’re picky about that sort of thing, just pass on this one. Also if you like clean, this isn’t, so don’t read it.
Warnings over, we have a spoiled 4th daughter and a socially ostracized Earl. Ashley’s the next Woodville sister, and she wants some adventure and to learn about the world. Grady owns a gaming hell and is estranged from his father, a Duke.
Ashley convinces Grady to be her tour guide to London’s less elevated attractions, and they fall for each other. It’s not a long book, and all drama is resolved quickly. It’s pretty steamy, and possible trigger warning, a secondary character has a rape experience story (past, but impacting her position in her family and in society).
Because the book is short, there isn’t much space for catching up with the previous installments’ couples. Really only the Duke of Derby figures much in the story, as Ashley’s guardian/responsible adult in London.
I liked Grady more than Ashley, but the story was engaging enough for a quick read, and I’m looking forward to the next round in the series.
Ashley was just a casual girl in this novella and always getting into trouble. All of it… Grady has no interest in indulging the whims of a bored (if admittedly alluring) debutante. But the idea of her stumbling inadvertently into danger doesn’t sit well with him, either. So, he’ll take part in her ridiculous escapades and do his best to keep his emotional distance. It should be easy, considering how entirely unsuitable they are. Too bad he can’t seem to remember any of that when she’s in his arms… She’s never met a challenge she wouldn’t accept. But will the walls around Grady’s heart—and the dark secrets of his past—be too much for even the daring Ashley to conquer? He thought that he never needed to fall in love but Ashley crept up on him. I borrowed this book from Kindle Unlimited. This in no way affects my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.
Steamy dream scenes only 20% into the book make gambling den owner, Grady (heir to a duke? Legitimate?), think about that impulsive chit, Ashley, who stole into his office on a dare. It was the most interesting evening of her life so far. Ashley discovers Grady’s ties to aristocracy—that he is the Earl of Howley. Grady’s protective gestures to steer her away from debauched lords turn into showing her the seedier side of life as a man. Trying to scare her away from him doesn’t seem to be working. Ashley is loving her new adventures with Grady.
It was great that Grady had a close relationship with his mother, the Duchess of Blackhaven. Knowing that made me wonder what was taking her so long to publicly support her son and protect him from his abusive father, the duke.
I loved that Ashley had a strong character all throughout the book until she was second-guessing herself. It didn’t fit with her inner strength she had for the first 3/4 of the story. Grady believed himself to be a social outcast until Ashley believed in him.
I’m looking forward to reading the next 6 books of this series.
I received an advanced copy for my honest opinion.
Every Duke Has a Silver Lining is the latest book in The Wayward Woodvilles series. Ashley and Grady are magnetic! I couldn’t put the ARC down. It has everything: forbidden love, secrets that have the potential to derail the happily ever after we want for them, and a sunshine and grump dynamic. My catnip though, is the fact that Grady is a rake who doesn’t give a fig about the Ton until he meets a woman who challenges him to become a better version of himself or at least to show his true self to the Ton. Grady is a reformed rake who will do virtually anything for Ashley. Ashley is one of my favorite types of heroine: a strong, fierce, independent woman who knows what she wants. Sparks fly when they butt heads!
Tamara Gill is at her best with Ashley and Grady’s story! The romantic tension is exquisite. Their banter is witty and en pointe. I loved the way Ashley’s family, particularly the Duke and Duchess of Derby, made small but significant contributions to the plot. I can’t wait for Millie’s story!
I received an Advance Reader Copy (ARC). The opinions expressed are my own.
AWESOME!!! Every Duke has a Silver Lining by Tamara Gill is book 4 in The Wayward Woodvilles series and though in a series this book can be read as a standalone. What I really liked about this book was how bold Ashley was and wanting to learn more about London than balls and parties. I also like that both characters were so compassionate and had good hearts plus their romance just sizzled. Tamara is a true gem when it comes to her writing and she never disappoints. What Talent!!! I found this book easy to read, original, had the real feel of the regency era, wonderful characters and just a delight to read. This story has a lady that has to do a dare, a soon to be duke that owns a gambling hell, a father who has lied & disowned, a loving mother, an evil earl who blackmails to get what he wants, rape, seeing the real London, dressing as a man, loving sisters who are all titled, an adventure to Vauxhall Gardens, money stolen and falling in love. I am highly recommending you read this book. It was AWESOME!!!
***This book was gifted to me and I am voluntarily reviewing.
I loved Grady and Ashley's story it is full of passion, sparks and love. It was also great to catch up with all the other Woodville siblings both single and married. Another triumph by Tamara Gill.
Grady Kolton, Lord Howley the future Duke of Blackhaven meets Miss Ashley Woodville in his gaming hell when she tries to steal a quill from his desk. Instead of throwing her to the wolves he escorts her and her friends back to their Mayfair homes under the threat of exposure.
However when Grady overhears two lords in his hell talking about Ashley and her friends in a degrading manner, he decides that another meeting with the minx that haunts his every waking moment maybe justified in forewarning her of their intentions.
The attraction between Ashley and Grady is undeniable and soon sparks lead to passion and love. Will Ashley and Grady find their way through society's waters together or apart.
Ashley Woodville loves to have fun and dare with her friends but sneaking into a gaming hell owned by the notorious future Duke of Blackhaven may have been a dare too far. There she runs into Grady Kolton the future duke who warns her not to darken his doorstep again, but Ashley's not done with this duke. I was hooked from the very first chapter. This storyline was so very good and the writing top-notch, the author really pulled the reader into the story. The characters were captivating. Ashley, although young and flippant to a point, bothered me with her naivety and childishness but by the end, I actually came to like her. Grady was fabulous from the start. A fast-paced read with steamy scenes, saucy language, great tension and building between the characters, and of course a good villain. While I have read the other books of this series, this is a complete stand-alone. I highly recommend this book. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
When you are just too bold for the ballroom and need a little spice in your life. You and your friend set up a series of dares. Harmless fun really, unless you get caught. Sneaking into a gaming hell stealing a quill off the proprietors desk. Sadly, Ashley Woodville gets caught! Disgraced Grady Kolten, owner of this hell can't bring himself to ruin this young woman but escorts her home and warns her NOT to return to his business. She in turn invites him to her "coming out ball." Which he attends. She tells him she wishes to see all of London including parts not seen by Proper young ladies. So that she might know how best to help the people pf the city. Being slightly smitten by the lovely maiden. Grady agrees"if" she dresses as a man to gain access to places only men can go like Whites (a gentleman's club) and a seedy ball. Needless to say this ends up getting her caught and in trouble with the snobbish ton.
Another incredible story in the wayward Woodville series.
He is an owner of the most notorious gaming hell in East End of London but he is also a future Duke who along with his mother was cast out by his father at a young age.. Everyone thinks he is an illegitimate but he is far from it. But never in his life did he think he would find the woman of his dreams snooping in his office.
She wants nothing more than to have a little fun and adventure before she settles down, but she gets dared to go in and take a certain thing from a gaming help where she meets the man who she wants to become her husband.
What started out as him helping her find a way to disguise herself as a lad so she can have an adventure, turns into them both finding they desire and love each other.
Every time I read a new Tamara Gill book I think this is the best one yet. But of course, there are always fantastic ones from the past. But in this case, this is one of the top ones I have read from Tamara. What’s not to love about it. Gaming hell owner, yes! A woman who wants to see and experience a man’s world, yes! Antics to said man’s world with some smoldering times and giving into those desires, yes! One of my favorite’s is a gaming hell owner. They are gruff, don’t give a rat’s ass, and always always loves the heroine to the moon and back. Let’s just say that Grady and Ashley captured my heart. If you have never tried Tamara’s books, give them a try. Start anywhere. She writes with such imagination and great storytelling that keeps you reading long into the night.
The dare - sneak into the Grady Kolten’s office in his gaming hell and steal the quill from his desk. The problem – she gets caught. Shortly after this rather unusual introduction, these two embark on an interesting adventure exploring London from a non-Ton point of view. Grady is an outcast earl (a sad family history) and heir to the Duke of Blackbourne. Ashley is the fourth Woodville sibling to be introduced to society and is connected to some powerful people in society. They are unsuitable for each other, but that doesn’t keep them from falling in love. An arrogant, greedy villain tries to tear them apart. Will he succeed? Not if Grady’s mama has anything to do with it. This is a captivating story with charming characters. I look forward to Millie’s story.
Ashley, a daring debutante convinced gambling club owner and disgraced Earl Grady to secretly escort her dressed as a man to places she couldn't go as a lady of the ton. She pushed the boundaries and was almost worse than ruined at one point, which would make one think she would stop, but it isn't until she is blackmailed. She has a choice to make because it affects her family, but I knew the option I would never choose. I was angry that one who was supposed to be honorable was a nasty person while looking down on another who was forced to make his own way because of the dastardly actions of his family.
The Earl allowed the equally evil son of his mother's rapist to frequent his business? He never used east end connections with the seedier side of life to have that rapist's throat slit ear to ear? And the Duke, who had presumably loved his Duchess, chose not to believe her when she told him she'd been raped while pregnant. Forgiven by her, even. Really? No, too many bad guys off the hook in this one. As a survivor myself there is no forgiveness for rape or betrayal by a loved one of that magnitude. I will continue to read the series as it comes out but if nothing ever happens to kill that rapist scum off I will be further disappointed.
This is the fourth book in the Wayward Woodvilles and one of my favorites so far! A dare gone wrong leads to a chance meeting between Ashley and Grady. Ashley is nothing but trouble and Grady's life is trouble enough. Despite that from the moment the meet, neither can stay away from the other. Their store is a sweet fun journey that will pull you in from the start!
I received an ARC copy from Tamara Gill for review. Thanks for much for the opportunity to read and review your book!
I really enjoyed reading about Ashley and Grady, how they met to when they fell in love. A dare from her friends was how she met the owner of a gaming hell, she got caught before she made it to his office. They met up again when Ashley and her friends showed up his gaming hell dressed as men, he knew it was her right away, he took her home but she weaseled her way to getting to see different things in different areas of London. In the end there were a few HEAs. I highly recommend this book. 👍👍👍👍👍❤❤❤❤❤
I absolutely loved Ashley and Grady’s story. Upon a dare Ashley meets the elusive Grady and a world win of fun starts. Grady is actually an Earl but his father the Duke kicked his mother out when she was 3 months pregnant and believed Grady was not his. All this hate between them over the years. When Ashley is threatened by the son of the man who raped Grady’s mother all those years ago, Grady will do what he can to protect Ashley. A wonderful book with a beautiful ending.
This book is part of a series but you don’t need to have read the others to follow the story line. In the beginning I thought the heroine was a sweet and kind girl who was been pressured into doing something she did not want to do, but as I continued to read I changed my mind. Ashley is in her first season and while acting on a date from her friends she encounters “the bastard and future duke” whom intrigues her greatly. Grady has a tarnished reputation and is not truly welcomed by the Ton which suits him fine. When he catches Ashley sneaking about his gaming hell he is not happy at all with her presence, but she triggers something in him and the gentlemen in him feels obliged to see her safely home. What happens when a debutante wants to explore the other side and an earl who is tricked into helping her achieve that goal? Very steamy love scenes, definitely not the book for you if you like clean romance.
Ashley and Grady’s story was totally delightful. I just loved these two together. This fierce woman with a huge heart and this swoon worthy rake that just needed the right woman to show him that he had one stole my own heart and left me swooning! The story itself was engaging and fun and the blend of emotion, drama, tension, clever banter and fiery sparks was simply irresistible! I'm posting an independent, impartial review.
This is a very enjoyable book, which I had to finish in one sitting. This is about Ashley who lost a bet with her friends and had to do a dare by stealing a quill off the desk of the future Duke of Blackhaven who owns a gaming establishment. I really enjoyed these Grady and Ashley together. Tamara Gill always writes a story that makes me happy I read it. I received an ARC of this book and am leaving my honest opinion.
