This is a wonderful Easter book, but of course not limited to Easter! It is a sturdy hardback board book, so little hands will be able to easily hold and turn the pages. The wording is child-friendly and the illustrations are very appealing for Christ's face and the happy children's faces. The artwork is colorful. The content includes Jesus teaching, riding into Jerusalem, the night before His arrest, the cross at a distance, the amazing resurrection, etc. Each page includes a description of the scene and a meaningful, short, child-appropriate prayer. This would be appropriate for children ages 0-7, at least. I highly recommend this book! I appreciate receiving this wonderful book, compliments of the publisher. My opinions are my own.
I have to say that the title of this book set me up for a certain expectation that I didn't exactly read after opening the book. I read through this book with my daughter as she was curious about it since she saw "Easter" in the title. She knew right from the cover image that the book was about Jesus and her interest was peaked. We both were expecting to see some new and familiar prayers throughout the book; however, we encountered short words of praise and a brief story line. Definitely not what we were expecting, but it worked to a point.
I would have to say that if I was looking for a rather generic book, that only points out the extreme basics of important parts of the bible and is fitting for a toddler, I would say that this would be suitable.
This sturdy little children's book is packed with the good stuff! Timeless truth coupled with beautiful illustrations makes this a children's book you can feel good about giving to your child. As your child is enamored with the beautiful artwork, the truths of the Gospel will also compel them as they learn about the Risen Savior.
This beautifully illustrated & concise story about Jesus teaches little children about Jesus’ death, burial, & resurrection. While this is a cute story, it’s almost an important story of how we should thank Jesus for going & bearing that cross FOR US. The illustrations were truly on point & I will re read it over and over again.
I received this book free from Tommy Nelson in exchange for my honest review. Both my little girl (who is 4) and I loved this book. Since it arrived, she has asked me to read it every night for bed. She enjoys the illustrations and the simple way it breaks down the Easter story into bite-sized chunks that she can understand. I love the little 1-sentence prayers on each page that help to drive home each part of the Easter story. This book definitely captured my little one's attention and she is learning how to talk to Jesus in prayer and thank Him for the gift of the cross. I am going to look into other books in this series to try as well since I was so impressed with the quality; plus how engaging this book was for our family. I would recommend this book for children ages 0 – 5.
