Reader reviews

"For women who hate exercise or who struggle with consistency, this book is pure gold . There’s no lecture about why you should be active every day but rather, a gentle guide on reconnecting with your body’s need for movement. The Little Book of Active Well-Being will undoubtedly help many women in their quest for optimal health and wellbeing."

Cindy Dallow Phd, RD Sports Dietician

"I love everything about this book. I love that in this book Diane Brown shifts the emphasis to physical activity, away from weight loss, and goals that we feel we 'should' be striving to achieve; and returns to the reader the gift of enjoyable activity and wellbeing.

It's easy to read, and encourages self-compassion and gradual changes in activity levels. I would wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone who wants to enjoy an active lifestyle for life."

Margaret Webster, Hypnotherapist & Holistic Therapist

"The Little Book of Active Wellbeing is a great read and ideal for anyone, regardless of age or current fitness, who wants to find the time and motivation to exercise. In particular, mums who have lost their sense of self amongst the seemingly endless demands of work and family life, but the principles are relevant to everyone.

Diane builds on her personal experience together with her professional training in Sports and Exercise Psychology to help us understand the benefits of being active for our physical and mental health, offering practical advice on how we can find time for fitness alongside the demands and responsibilities of work or family.

Heartfelt, honest and thought-provoking, this concise but insightful workbook helps you to find your individual motivation and pinpoint the specific challenges you face, then guides you in identifying practical steps to improve your physical and mental wellbeing. This is not an exercise plan, but the result is an individual fitness plan customised to your unique circumstances."

Tamara Devereux, Mum of 2

From the back cover The difference between this and other ‘fitness’ books you may have read is that we are going to focus on what’s going on in your mind rather than your body. This means you will have some thinking to do. YOU are the expert on your life and your thoughts. I am going to guide you through a process to help you uncover the answers for yourself and find the path to an active lifestyle that works for you. At the end of each chapter, you will find short written activities to help you explore your own thoughts and feelings about getting active, each designed to guide you along the small steps towards making Active Wellbeing a key part of your life. You will discover the seven principles of ‘Active Wellbeing’, how they are showing up in your life, and how you can feel more motivated, more empowered, and begin (when you’re ready) to take action.
